With such a long, 23-hour void-of-course period (quite rare), we may need to emulate "a fox sitting on its haunches" because like the fox we haven't figured out exactly what to do yet.  Charubel says we may "be ever on selfish ends" and might make "good strategists."  Both sides in the current election battle may seem like "a tiger crouching as in the act of assault."  (I am not taking sides but believe there is credible evidence of election fraud.)  With the moon void-of-course, it is appropriate that both these animals, forced to live by their wits and strategies, are preparing their attack rather than carrying it out.  There are likely to be many more delays than usual during a void-of-course period.

Another animal figure, a lion, is said to be "high-minded, honorable, bold, courageous, and fearless of foes."  You may decide for yourself who lives up to that description.  Mars has turned direct, in his own sign Aries, and could at his best fit that characterization.  He was square to Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn while retrograde (from August till now) and shall again square those planets but while direct, having a chance to correct what was wrong before, from now through the first half of February.  It has been exhausting for all of us.  I hope we shall be pleased by how things "turn around."  We may feel like "an inventor experimenting" today, and the experiments are incomplete during the v-of-c.  Still, we may make progress as long as we are not overeager to implement discoveries in a way which could go kaflooey.  

As for social trends, they seem contradictory.  It is hard to estimate what people's real feelings are during a long void-of-course period.  Many may feel like "a great lonely tower rising from an eminence of rock," relying on their own counsel, standing alone.  Taciturnity and reserve, however, might be respected by someone, showing innate strength and stability.  At other times we might be like "a man and woman standing hand in hand looking with affection toward each other."  Venus's tri-septile with Mars could bring fatefulness in interpersonal attractions and loyalties.  Maybe this will be easier to comprehend in the earlier or later evening hours (see when the v-of-c ends, above).

I try to avoid politics in these reports, but the conflict over the election is not ended, and we have "Cross-swords" indicating, according to Charubel, "someone always at variance and involved in quarrels and broils."  At worst this could be "a battle-field where two contending armies are in deadly conflict."  It is not going to be "deadly" in a literal physical sense, but it is deadly serious.

At a more passive level we have "an empty hammock."  I am not sure whether it is empty because someone has just left it to take up activity, or because someone is contemplating lying down to Ruminate, which is the keyword.  Rumination is good and expansive during any Full Moon period (which lasts throughout the day though exact very early).   And so we have, serendipitously, "a full moon shining in a clear sky," indicating sympathy, adaptability, and "powers of imitation and assimilation."  One might "shine by reflected light" yet finally "outshine all others in capacity, wealth, and fame."  Neptune at station (motionless) and turning direct in its own sign Pisces strengthens underlying spiritual foundations and could have an effect in the political world also.  "A woman reading tea leaves" knows how to discern signs and signatures, and so maybe we should hire her to replace Smartmatic and Dominion.

Venus is beginning a sweet trine with Neptune, and for just a couple days a fateful tri-septile with Mars, so we have "a man and woman standing hand in hand looking with affection toward each other."  Such amity and concord could ameliorate yet not totally eliminate the strife of the first paragraph.  There may be covert enmity or secret strategy at "an embassy ball," yet also display of one's charms, and exploitation of one's personal potentialities, a la Cinderella or Cinderfella.

 Weekend of November 28-29, and Look Ahead

Saturday through Monday are the final days of November and happen to be calmer days when one might relax more than was possible through most of the month.  Whatever the "bee in your bonnet," it maybe has buzzed off for a while so you can calm down.  There is peaceful perspective on a lot of factors, plus a sense of mission sure to work out.  

You have been using "a mariner's compass" during November to find your way in finance, business and career, and you may sense that you have a better-constructed map as a result.  

Tuesday (1st) through Friday (4th) continue as relatively peaceful days when you may settle into the perseverance of "a mountain pilgrimage," that is, realize what you are dedicated to, and feel good about staying with it loyally.  There are things which are wrong which you want to correct, "a woman suffragist haranguing," but you feel more sure of yourself and able to be persuasive without as much "blood, sweat and tears."  

There is a propensity to reflect, to sit by "a dark pool under dense foliage" and contemplate the future and ways of getting there.  Such quietude is not escapism but a withdrawn yet deep support of your aspirations.  If in competition in some way, you are able to "aim at an object in the distance" as a good marksman.  

Building for the future, in cooperation with your visible or invisible community or cohorts, is going well no matter what the opposition.  "A golden-haired goddess of opportunity" is among those who help you to see beyond the clouds a bright horizon, and recover from nights of uncertainty (Dark Epoch, two months ended November 18).  Developing agendas behind the scenes is not exactly plotting or scheming, but wise planning.  A lot of that is going on, whether designated as research or detective work.  

And so, taken as a whole, the calendar month December should be considerably more pleasing than November, and more conducive to carrying out one's intentions.

Charubel warns against "revolting" indulgences, dissipation, "the gambling hells," stimulants, and bad company.  Sepharial says we might "shoot arrows toward a flight of birds" inconsequentially.  This could be disrespect of convention, and "too many love affairs than can be managed successfully."  All this could tie to the exact opposition of Venus to Uranus, now joined by the moon. 

This could be "the eccentricity and waywardness of a comet," yet such an extreme search for freedom could summon "Cupid knocking on the door."  Romantic leanings inspire us to refine ourselves while we make, break, and remake ties with those we find alluring.  Some "knocks" are answered at least for a while.

"A lady sitting on a divan fanning herself" is said to indicate "the good things of this life," fortune and prosperity  Elevated moods inveigle us to feel we are appreciating "the moon shining across a lake."  Hearts are released into luminous goodwill and harmony, in rapport with all other hearts.

Some "are utilized without getting much credit or respect," as if they were "a mill-wheel driven by the wind."  Yet there could be undisturbable peace for those who contemplate life and nature, no matter how obscurely.  They "will walk by the side of their mother Nature, their souls lifted to a place of rest."  Even if unpractical, one might be "a favored child."  (Sepharial)

Some may feel as vain as "a man looking at his face in a looking-glass," and have momentary bursts of intense confidence.  This could settle down into native dignity and innocency, "a naked boy, a crown on his head, a spear in his hand."  (Charubel) 

Whenever there seems confusion or disturbance, one could play a game according to the rules, "a game of cricket" or whatever is convenient, so that sportsmanship helps all to be themselves regardless of losing or winning. Though markets are closed, one might feel one is receiving good fortune, as if having spaded the soil to find "a jewel which reflects the sun's rays."

Confusions could disturb us, as if we were living in chaos.  "Bad company" or people who are submitting to bad habits or addictions may be around us.  How to help them without being officious or offensive is a question.  One might feel like "a man of middle age watching over a cradle."  We may repine while not deserting anyone suffering.

One might feel like "an old owl up in a tree," resting in one's dignity and self-respect.  Normal events and habits are reassuring.  One continues the continuity of effort when one's heart is in one's work, building something up carefully. 

There can be complacence while thinking of people or places at a distance, as if one could sail in consciousness wherever one chooses.  The lure of gain is evident, as in "a gold rush."  Ambitions summon toward good fortune.  Personal initiative makes one independent of life's inadequacies.   Preparation for the holiday (and beyond) is effective in fresh ways.

Venus still square Saturn inclines toward separation or isolation, as in "two prim spinsters."  Venus opposite Uranus inclines toward abnormal inclinations, or letting repressed emotions go, as in "a storm-swept prairie" which can indicate waste, extravagance, rashness, even wantonness.  Or one may observe such behavior.  

"A man walking on the edge of a precipice" may be reckless and impulsive but is sensitive, affectionate and honorable.  He or she may get back to safety and pick up "a trefoil" symbolizing Faith, Hope, and Charity.  Inspiration, rich imagination, and spiritual comprehension are fostered by Mercury's trine with Neptune.

Aries can be a child-sign, and the moon and Mars there are "a little child learning to walk" in order to further his or her discovered individuality.  Then there is poise and security, a stabilization of trust and hope as represented by "a massive, rocky shore."

The moon with Neptune in Pisces, plus Mercury trine Neptune, could make some feel like "an old man seated beneath a shady tree, his head bowed in thought.  A pilgrim."  There could be solitude, with deep or abstruse thought.  "All around me is unreal" is a common thought of mystics East and West.  Yet there could be signs of a decisive momentum.  "Two men playing chess" make moves according to their abilities, the winner the one with refined skills, discipline of understanding, and concentration.  They care about winning but may share the pilgrim's detachment and disillusionment should they lose.

"A man at a table with drawing instruments and paper before him" could be an artist, architect, or engineer.  Or yourself with your own particular project.  If the effort becomes unselfish and social it could be like "a house-raising" in which there is simple cooperation and common enterprise.  This is helpful to those helped and those helping.  

"The Goddess of Mercy enthroned" is self-explanatory.  Whether Mary, Durga, or Kwan Yin, she is the Mother who never fails us.  Her sympathy extends in all directions, and she is with us today.  As "brownies dancing in the setting sun" we sense success in both career and family domains while the universe sorts and sifts things into convenience and order.  The impersonal forces of nature are friendly.  We sense a day or season ending, but feel invigorated while dancing into the next episode.

Message for Weekend of November 21-22, and Thanksgiving week

It is good to focus on one selected task or project at a time, sometimes in seclusion.

High spiritual consciousness is recuperative.  "A mariner's compass" guides past temporary illness or fatigue to a brighter horizon. 

Greater confidence is arising, in accord with the Bright Hermetic Epoch which began Thursday and continues through January 14.  It gives us mch to be thankful for on Thursday, the day of Jupiter in the month (Sagittarius) of Jupiter!  Our national holiday has cosmic concordance. 

Homey, sweet factors are a holiday sauce, even if at times it seems one is struggling to keep up with daily tasks and necessary routines.  "Shellfish groping and children playing" are the emergence of everything pleasing when we reach out to broader potentials. 

Some may partake of the holiday feast on "a table upon which a right angle and plane are lying."  These suggest liberality, justice, peace, and fraternity-sorority.  Whether the pilgrim-Indian story is a myth or not, it could inspire us.

There are bursts of strong energy of a masculine sort which break out of boring molds.  Gloom can be lighted up by "a Christmas tree decorated" or the Thanksgiving equivalent of that.  "A fellowship supper" could be vitalized by disagreements rather than upset by them. 

Whatever harshness, envy, or jealousy there may be in our feelings can be assuaged by viewing all as if from "an airplane hovering overhead."  Reflection makes us more gracious.  Anger may be suppressed, or converted into humor that stings but does not injure. 

Determination in personal and career matters does not have to interfere with domestic or family matters.  "Two prim spinsters" could be relatives respecting one another with neither great enthusiasm nor antagonism.  They know they belong together.  Independent, original qualities may chafe at times when not appreciated yet could find a spectacular avenue to admiration even at home or in the family.  

"A merchant ship in mid-ocean" is a favorable indication, whether commerce and business is local or international.  Surprising benefits turn up, with success that is real even if not proclaimed or boasted of.

You may be feeling that intriguing plans and projects are emerging for you, symbolized by "an oriental-rug dealer."  He or she almost has to instruct his or her customers in a craft in order to make their use of his or her services valuable to them.  So you may be "selling" some feature of yourself or your skill even if without monetary payment.  The universe has given you a consignment of goods to be shared, with a return payment for yourself guaranteed in one manner or another.  When things are relaxed and you feel at ease, you could become "the Halloween jester" or release buoyant energies in a refreshing way.  Ideals are important, but so is humor shared in an ingratiating way which awakens spontaneous delight.  

As opposed to friendly humor, there could be the sharp caustic cries of "a raven standing on a stone."  Some individuals could seem morose, avaricious and revengeful.  This could be a result of Venus's square with Saturn.  "Nobody likes me, so I will scorn them all."  Or, instead, one could use the impetus of Luna's sextile with Mars in a semi-military way, "with helmet on head and spear in hand," that is, becoming an impressive, appealing and effective "soldier" for one's own cause or a larger one. 

Even an afflicted Venus has her charm, so she may, perhaps out of desperation, turn into "a woman in railing robes waving a wand around which is coiled a serpent."  She cunningly "asserts power over others by persuasion or fascination." There could be mutual attraction, no matter how questionable with Luna square Uranus on one side and Mercury on the other.  Or there could be intellectual curiosity and quest, "three mounds of knowledge on a philosopher's head."  He or she sees one viewpoint, the opposite viewpoint, and some sort of reconciliation or harmonizing overview.

P. S.  I'm writing on Thursday just a couple hours before the Bright Hermetic Epoch begins (time was given in Thursday's forecast), and two incidents this morning are evidence that my hypothesis is correct, there is a SHARP quantum leap from the Dark to Bright Epochs!  I tried to pay my credit card online.  For the first time ever, I did not get a message saying "Thank you, we have received your payment."  I exited and logged in again.  Same problem.  This was the final day for the payment and I wanted to make sure it had taken.  So I went through the trial of calling someone on the phone.  Actually he was helpful and assured me that the payment had gone through.  But I had to waste about a half hour on all this.  Then, a little later while writing this forecast, I got, repeatedly, at least 8 or 10 times, a superimposed message, "Oops! Something went wrong and your latest typing may not have been saved."  In all my years of writing on Google, this has never happened before.  The DHE is almost exactly like Mercury Retrograde, a cornucopia of human and non-human glitches.  (Consider what is happening with the election.)  Now it is an hour and a half before the Bright Epoch begins, and I am looking forward to it!

A Bright Hermetic Epoch, or fast-Mercury phase, of greater clarity and confidence, begins at 12:50p PT | 3:50p ET | 8:50p UT, continuing through January 14 

I have often moaned about the Venus-square-Saturn aspect (exact again today) as the "nobody loves me aspect."  Or, better, it can be a time when you find out something reassuring about long-term, old friendships or relationships, realizing that "these are my people, like it or not" and resolve to get along better.  The gloomy symbol "a dark pool of water in the shadow of dense foliage" suggests lack of ambition allied with fatalism and melancholy.  Maybe this is a needed meditation-rest.  If one is roused during that period to something critical one might be like "an Indian mother pleading to the chief for the lives of her children."  This requires awakened sacrifice, and a balancing of rights and wrongs for the greater good of ourselves and posterity.  

"A series of bubbles floating in the air" are emblematic of the light, fantastic and ephemeral.  One might resemble a mere superficial dabbler in life's mysteries.  Or, because today is the beginning of a more straightforward and logical Mercurial (Hermetic) period, one might pass beyond the bubbles as mere entertainment and proceed to something solid and workable.  "Humanity seeking to bridge the span of knowledge" is ourselves using our reasoning powers on our accumulated experience to bring about wise choices and projects over the coming two months.  

In our lighter moments we may experience something like "a woman standing on the head of a serpent."  She is sage, not really weak as women are supposed to be, and has "great fascinating power."  In other words, persuasion can work in bringing our fondest dreams closer to reality.  We might even be entering an epoch when we have "a field of ripe corn; the reapers at work 'neath the beams of the sun."  Gloomy moods may question that, but a smoother time is beginning no matter how inchoately at first.

We are called on to face Mars and Saturn, the two "malefic" planets as the ancients called them, for one symbol for the day is said by Charubel to signify "an evil mixture of Saturn and Mars" as pictured in "a tiger crouching for a spring on its prey."  Mars in Aries (since June 28 and until January 6, a very unusually long transit) is audacious, trying for the impossible, and that can be good or it can be too restless and irritable.  Its long-lasting square to Capricorn planets including Saturn could have inclined some to inflammatory (Mars) conditions of the skin (Capricorn) such as eczema, hives or other irritations.  Saturn also in its own sign, Capricorn, is strong and when good that is honesty and determination to work toward desired goals. When it goes wrong (as it probably has in many cases because of hard aspects to Mars, Mercury and Venus) it can be gloominess, bias, and dissatisfaction resulting sometimes in cunning and underhanded strategies.  (Both sides of the political spectrum are accusing the other of that.)   However that may be, "a rhinoceros" has his intention on one object at a time and stands unmoved without fear.   That is wise during this |hard third| of the week (moon-Saturn conjunction) lasting until Friday evening.

We may sometimes retreat from all this turmoil to "an airplane hovering overhead" where we can reflect on a broad over-all view of the world to our advantage.  That could help us recover poise which could have been lost while Venus is exactly square Saturn this weekend, making us feel unloved or unappreciated and finding it hard to love or appreciate anyone else.  Calm realism is not harshness, envy or jealousy.  We might even attain the rock-like security of "a cross carved in stone standing against the rising sun, haloed in divine light."  

When free of labor we may find peace and comfort, and offer it to others benevolently, as if living in "a rustic cottage 'neath a spreading cedar tree."  We or someone else may take on the role of "the king of the fairies approaching his domain," giving and accepting heartfelt allegiance.  He or she has chosen to imagine sovereignty over people and things, and such imaginative perspective generates fairyland yet real dominion.

We have had a lot of military symbols, what with Mars being in his own sign Aries and stationary, now moving very slowly ahead.  "A plumed warrior haranguing a multitude of soldiers" could be anyone who feels he or she has a mission to arouse others to undertake duties or responsibilities.  There is power for persuasion.  "A knight of the field mailed and plumed, ready for attack" is steadfast in defense of his own and others' rights, and can be victorious.  

"A military band on the march" is making music instead of war.  Yet they have to "left right left" and play even when they don't feel like it.  Intrepidity is a keynote, or self-mobilized effort when reward or fulfillment seems far away.  Another person engaged in that is "a woman entering a convent" who gives up what she has found to be shallow for something profound to which she feels allegiance.  Such consecration comes of inner vision and is a reward in itself.

Charubel tells us that we may be, or know someone who is, "an extraordinary person, designed to take an active part in public life and who will exercise a great influence on mankind."  He gives for this degree the symbol *  *  *.  Yet sometimes this person and ourselves may enjoy "a tankard set upon a table," sincerity and frankness, appreciating people of the common walk while purveying spiritual truth in a natural unpremeditated manner.  Life is good in its fortitude and in its relaxation.

It seems that things for most of us are getting easier to handle, but first let's deal with the hard part.  "A man swimming in an angry sea" sounds like the opposition of Venus and Mars we have been enduring, and also like the square of Venus with Saturn which is getting exact a couple days from now.  Anger is not necessary but may feel natural when we confront those who seem to be very wrong about something.  However, Sepharial says that the man "in the angry sea" is "resolute and brave, disposed to take great risks upon himself for the benefit of others."  He may "meet with recognition and honor as the leader of a forlorn hope."  Some feel this way in regard to current political battles.  "Information in the symbol of an autumn leaf" is one of those intriguing symbols one can interpret in multiple ways.  The keyword "tact" suggests that one might have to hint kindly to someone that something is ending, whether a relationship or some side of it, or a friendship or some particular facet of it, a business deal or some clause in it.  (That is what often happens when Venus squares Saturn.)  The "leaf" of that particular experience has matured, turned colors and fallen.  However, I love the autumn and the colored leaves, sometimes picking one up to bring home.  We get the message that a season is ending but we are heartened by the hearth-fires we will enjoy over the holidays, which the gold-red leaves emblazon beforehand.

The square of Venus and Saturn combined with the exact opposition of Mercury and Uranus fits with "a mole" signifying "great individuality; very reserved; very determined" to do whatever deemed necessary whether the public (above ground) likes it or not.  This could be "true grit" in some area of your life where you are not going to give up no matter what people think.  Yet there is no desire to offend; "a Welsh harp" denotes "evenness of temper and regularity of conduct," "a lover of the harmonious in all things."  The moon is tuning itself with both Mars and Venus by good aspects.  Our "hard edge" is not so sharp as to push people away but can sing out a melody appreciated.  

We're in the second day of a New Moon and it is good to begin things which look promising, even if they are not absolutely clear until Thursday or the weekend.  "Indians making camp" are not sure of everything, but will find fuel and food and establish a temporary home with whatever is immediately at hand.  Such extemporization is profitable now.  Then we may find ourselves on "an elevated promontory, crowned with many variously colored flowers."  This is a light-hearted, charming and fortune-attracting mood (Luna sextile Venus especially later in the day and evening).

We are going through a strange, difficult, confusing yet promising period.  "Promising" because it seems to be a time to re-evaluate and re-estimate things so that something better can evolve from what we already have.

First, Mars is turning direct just as I write (Friday).  This is a big thing because that planet only goes retrograde about once every 3.5 years.  Its retrogradation this time has corresponded with huge upsets and worries about the pandemic as well as the presidential election.  That is not finished, but it is interesting that the President's announcement of a vaccine came today (Friday) a couple hours before Mars turned direct at 4:37p PT | 7:37p ET | 12:37a(Sa) UT.  Big changes seem to be in the offing, and also in your personal life in your own particular setup or projects.  Plus, we have a New Moon Saturday night, and then a new Bright Hermetic Epoch beginning Thursday the 19th.  

In view of all this, I am taking a break from writing about the situation.  Let's just wait and see.  Those who have a campaign to run, as those who are supporting President Trump in the complex litigation, will of course be very busy, in that sort of "treadmill" busy-ness of the Dark or Slow Hermetic Epochs when it seems the "devil in the details" is leering at us everywhere.  In your own life you probably have noticed how complex or confusing things still are (until maybe Thursday), and an "easy does it" approach is probably best.  It could be that we will feel relieved and relaxed while we watch things gradually sort themselves out in a more congenial fashion.  "Reorientation" is a keyword.

There is a mixture of continuing difficult aspects together with some promising ones (sun in good aspect to the three Capricorn planets).  "A man sowing in the wind" warns against waste and dissipation, or vain and illusive projects.  That does indeed often happen during a Dark Hermetic Epoch (this one ends on November 19, six days from now).  We might "use our superior faculties to small advantage."  If we get in trouble we would be like someone struggling in a lake, almost drowning, but saved by someone throwing a lifebuoy.  This might be because of debt or other issues.  Some of them might be resolved favorably this weekend or soon after.

Secret or controversial desires emerge to the surface under the aegis of Venus squaring both Pluto and Jupiter.  You might be embarrassed if some of these were revealed to the public.  Yet when you know that what you want is ethical and harmless you may be like one who has "a cross formed of darts," "a very positive character, a person of strong will.  He will never allow anyone to impose on him.  Ever on the defensive; one with magical abilities."  (Charubel)  If our desires transcend themselves, we are like "a bunny metamorphosed into a fairy," for "imagination molds and remolds everyday reality."  Poetry of soul sings out a transition from merely animal impulses to ideal aspirations.  

Though things are intense, it's Friday and we might want to sit down with "a tankard set upon a table," not to get drunk but to be open to receiving truth while our passions are well-regulated.  We have "a sincere regard for all that is simple and natural in human nature."  Vineyards and hostels have their place.  Purveying spiritual truths is also possible.  We are men and women "of the common walk, our sympathies with the people."  "Unconditioned friendliness brings facets of ourselves to a point of immediate expression."  It's as if we were in "a crowd upon the beach."  Such naive mutual assurance is exhilarating.

People can't go faster than the planets.  I just came up with that statement after watching a Trump-supporter video summarizing the status of the race, which drags on and on.  Wearisome.  It's either Mars that we "can't go faster than" (it is still retrograde, has been since early September) or Mercury that we "can't go faster than" because it is still slow (that is, we are in the Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch) until November 19, a week from today).  Mars turns direct on Friday, though still will be very slow, and almost a week later the BHE begins.  Some resolution, or at least more clarity about when and how there shall be resolution?  Let's hope so.

Thursday:

There are compulsions which seem fatalistic, and other-persons' compulsions which are also fatalistic, like "cataracts falling from one rocky ledge to another."  Actions can be precipitate and hazardous, lacking in foresight.  Restless urges are not aware of danger until it is encountered.  What may be needed is some safe anchorage in tradition, in solid, honorable values as represented by "a Jewish rabbi."  Let us turn to our heritage and "stand on the shoulders of giants."  

Disappointments could come to some of one's early, too-sanguinary hopes, but the sun forming good aspects with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn should help you find surer footing.  It would not be surprising that while suffering the stress of other major aspects, the "hard third" of this week, and the Via Combusta, some might turn to escapism, symbolized by "a wineglass overturned."  Yet there can be geniality plus intelligence, subduing whatever would be dangerously incontinent.

Mars is stationary while moving backward but turns direct tomorrow and Saturday.  While motionless it is said to be very powerful, so we have the symbol "hunters starting out for ducks."  The is "the straightforward honesty of desire" leading to enterprise or the use of practical skills to gain freedom. When this becomes a little more selfless it is  "the sun shining brightly," "a great man [or woman], a public character, one whose presence among mankind will be considered essential."  Who might be your nominee or nominees?

Thursday and Friday will be in the |difficult third| of this week, so today could be a time to get things cleared away in preparation.  Saturday looks quite good, the |difficult third| having receded away from the weekends gradually. 

I am still trying to steer away from politics, but it is hard because I keep watching what the right-wing people (many of them very honest and "right" in a good sense) are doing to contest the election in battleground states.  And so I feel the "heat of the batte" keenly even though those who only get their news from the MSM may think Biden has won comfortably.  Who is the "soldier derelict in duty"?  The Republicans who want to contest, or the Republicans who don't want to contest, or the Democratic poll-watchers who are accused of cheating?  There is "deviation" from duty perhaps on both sides, or conflicts between obligations and desires (what is the soldier to do?).  I hope there shall be clear answers, perhaps after Mars turns direct on Friday, or between then and later in November, for a new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins on the 19th.  Until then both sides, and ourselves in our personal lives, may feel like "a man on a treadmill" compelled to work hard for little reward.  Marc Edmund Jones, in his brilliant analysis of the Venus opposite Mars aspect we are enduring (until the 17th), says one suffering this (all of us) "tends to disturb himself unnecessarily with the comings and goings of other people.  When this overconcern is indulged too unthinkingly, the penalty may be a very disconcerting ostracism."  This seems what many are experiencing, even within their own parties or families.  "He is at his best when he . . . plunges into some project or situation at hand in an effort to revivify it and recreate its inspiration or momentum."  

"A gang of robbers in hiding" is the Biden gang, stealing the election.  Or it is the Trump gang, trying to steal the election.  I am not adjudicating that, but hope the courts do, leaving no doubts.  At the personal level, the "robbers" could be one's divergence from the true path, or perversions which seem delicious until payback.  We want freedom and independence, and are willing to be bold and forceful to secure it. This could be by right methods or wrong.

What is "the firmness of character" which will triumph?  We can find it by ruling ourselves before trying to rule others, even though we feel proud and ambitious.  The sun (our Sol) is forming a helpful sextile with Jupiter and two other planets in Capricorn.  It aids us to shape our lives toward "a square block of marble [reliability], upon it a scepter and crown."  In our more relaxed moments we can make use of the Part of Fortune's position in the house of Friendship, and feel like "a man in the midst of a lot of children at play."  Simple and childlike, not shunning youthful amusement, we link with others in an uncalculating good-willed manner.

I have weighed every word and sentence in this forecast as carefully as I knew how.  And so it may repay patient study. 

I am weary of politics, and probably you are too.  Some of the symbols pull us back into it:  "An old door in which a dagger is stuck," denoting "a critical and quarrelsome nature, apt to find fault with the opinions of others for the sake of controversy; striking at existing systems and laws even when unable to improve upon them."  Democrats will say this is the Republicans; Republicans will say it is the Democrats.  But it is going on.  Is it really all "folly," the keyword Borelli gives?  A matter of opinion.  If somebody is wrong, somebody else has to be right.  "Two men are fencing with swords."  Each is "one who would not admit an equal; a very formidable kind of opponent."  So it seems.

The duty, or pastime, or competitive game? of "counting ballots" goes on like "a horse saddled and bridled, and galloping away without a rider."  All are weary of it, but let's hope the courts, when necessary, will bring clarity, justice, and resolution.  "A woman drawing two dark curtains aside" could be a Republican revealing election fraud, or a Democrat revealing a pro-Biden vote count.  The keyword is Daring, and it seems that in the Information, Non-information, and Pseudo-information age, daring is required to announce the truth about anything, for truth is labeled falsehood.  At the personal level, an individual could exhibit daring by exposing himself or herself (or his or her style or talent) in some way crude or svelte.  Our personalities reach out to other personalities, and other personalities reach out to us.

"Two awards for bravery in war" is a subtle intimation that both sides win something.  Whether we win recognition or give recognition to someone else, we are valuing idealistic leadership, vision and character.  We may look forward to the day when we can have a respite from the campaign, and become "a retired sea captain" sustaining the world and our experience of it in cherished memories.  This is poise earned through past achievement.  It is preparing us for embarking on new enterprise, probably beginning November 19 and continuing in a positive direction until at least January 14.  (Yes, those two months look better.)

Something I have noticed but not mentioned here is obvious, so obvious that no astrologer I know of has mentioned it!!  Is the too-visible invisible?  Venus is opposite Mars, which happens only once every 3.5 years or so, and this time Venus is in her own sign Libra and Mars in his own sign Aries.  Big battle of the sexes!  Well, and of varying viewpoints, apart from sex.  Guess who has more males on his side?  Trump, statistically.  Guess who has more females?  Biden.  Further, Biden has a female running-mate who also happens to be a sun-sign Libran! Guess whom more police officers (Mars) support?  Trump, of course.  And probably military men also although I haven't seen the latest polls on that.  Men are from Mars (Trump) and women are from Venus (Biden-Harris).  And that opposition, which has been going on since October 28, is exact today, when lawyer allies of Trump have said they shall launch various legal battles questioning the validity of the vote in several states.  

Can I predict anything from that?  Not much, except to see how appropriate it is.  Mars is retrograde (Trump supporters clinging to the past, holding on) but turns direct this coming Friday, the 13th.  Will that help Trump to "move forward" whatever that means?  I cannot say but it may be interesting.  Further, the opposition ends (by a ten degree orb) on the 17th-18th, and the Dark Hermetic Epoch ends on the 18th and a new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins the 19th, ten days from now.  Would all this be favorable to Biden, ending the battle in his favor?  I don't know.  Would all this be favorable to Trump, setting legal machinery in motion to win a few states the media thought he had lost?  I don't know.  It shall be interesting.

Monday:

Many are demonizing the other side.  I don't like to contribute to that, but faithfully report a symbol for today:  "A serpent with many heads in a circle, fangs protruding."  Charubel says this is "the cursed degree of the so-called cursed sign" (Scorpio) and that it denotes "a pest and terror to society."  Donald Trump? Yet Biden is Scorpio, with several planets in that sign.  Joe?  Take your choice.  Supporters of both may feel like "a soldier going through his drill" who worries he may be wounded or killed (metaphorically). 

"A boat landing washed away" is what many on both sides may feel they are experiencing.  Nature has taken over what humans wanted to do with the environment.  This gives the necessity for a pause or respite, to work out a different plan, a different way to land one's boat.  Calculations as to practical plans may go well (moon in Virgo sextile the sun).  That is, provided one does not indulge oneself incontinently, so that one's "wine glass" is "overturned."  One feels generous and convivial, which is all to the good so long as one does not lose sight of the "boat landing" to which one is headed.  It could be "washed away" not by nature but by wine, or Bacchic indulgence.

"A stiletto (dagger) and tavola (dining table)" suggest an Italian crime-syndicate boss, perhaps, but more benignly a person of machismo who is "given to disputes" and "eager in contention," a formidable adversary yet a convivial companion with sharp wit, headstrong and quick temper yet brave, honorable, and avid.  (Some think Trump fits this description.)  In contrast with this (Mars opposite Venus again) we have the figure of Passive Beauty, a youthful student wandering in a glade with a book, quite the opposite of the masculine headman.  He or she is "devoted to the higher interests of the soul" and contemplative of natural beauty.  We may find room in our world, and ourselves, for both types.

I'll discuss the election more in the Sunday report (posted with this one).  Today the most unpleasant symbol is "a battered hulk lying upon the seashore."  This ship has been "battered by the winds of adversity" and that might seem to be the Trump campaign.  "The fortunes will eventually be in danger of wreck and ruin."  However, some might say this could apply also to the Biden campaign, if the Trump people can successfully launch vote-recounts and legal challenges.  "A wandering and rudderless drifting upon troubled waters" sounds also like the election process itself during the pandemic, which now looks like that "battered hulk lying upon the seashore" of politics.  However, at the personal level there are things one could do to "shore up" one's fortunes.  "A man with a sickle under one arm and a sheaf of corn under the other" is taking care of his business or labor, his projects, successfully, so he can eventually reap his reward during this harvest season and on into a new Bright Hermetic Epoch beginning November 19.

"A mummer's (mime artist's) mask" suggests mimicry, imitation, simulation, perhaps insincere or comedic.  Maybe that's the best we can do to cheer ourselves up while Venus opposes Mars.  Lunar aspects do sweeten the situation (moon sextile Venus and trine Mars while in Leo), so if you're drawn to theatricality, foolishness, and flattery, go for it!  If the extravagance and conviviality should go too far, there could be "a wine glass overturned," spilled-over feelings and passions, an incontinence which could be upsetting.

"A female in a state of nudity" is self-explanatory, following on the overturned wine glass, and our Victorian clairvoyant warns against voluptuousness and "the lower passions."  You may adjust this as you wish for a more permissive era.  "Two awards for bravery in war" might go to both sides in any contest. You may find that your self-dedication and resourcefulness, your personal vision and character, are bringing recognition.

I wanted to comment on the election here in the Sunday report where I take a vacation from the daily methods with the symbols.  But it is exceedingly difficult.  Even astrologers are not immune from the confusion of a Dark Hermetic Epoch (this one lasting until November 19) and I find that on Twitter many astrologers are making confusing comments and not understanding what other astrologers say.  

It is better not to try to predict elections, as I have explained, because that would invalidate the free will of the voters!

It seems to me that Monday through Wednesday, November 9-11, will be decisive for the "first round" of the election decision.  That is, it might be "called" for Biden, most likely, by many observers.  That does not mean that Biden will be the final winner, because the Trump campaign is determined to allege and follow up voting fraud, or inexact or unfair counting, in the courts, and that could go on for weeks.  And so I am just going to sit back for now.  My best advice:  See where things stand on Wednesday through Friday this week.  Even if the election is still being contested, one should be able by then to figure out how and when it may finally be determined. That does not mean one will decisively know the winner. November 19 (and following days) is another key date. 

As for our personal lives, which continue:  I can't over-emphasize the importance of the Dark Hermetic Epoch.  We may be finished with Mercury Retrograde, but not with the DHE, which always goes on a couple of weeks after Mercury turns direct, because it is moving so very slowly.  In my experience it is just as difficult as the core of it, the MR three-week period.  Right now I am going through difficulties of large scope every day, and feeling as if I am slightly out of synch with a lot of things.  What about you?  I often say, "Don't panic during the DHE, don't think you are going crazy or senile."  I have to remind myself of that advice every day, and often in a day, for so much is "out of pattern" in my thinking, my working, my scheduling, my diet and sleep schedule.  "Out of pattern" is an important phrase to remember.  It is not wrong that things are "out of pattern" during the DHE (to November 19) but it is difficult, often.  At other times it can be very refreshing. 

As for the good side of all this, during the DHE I have been able to REsearch both astrology and other more practical matters with success.  One gets unusual insights and while some may be misleading, others are "leading" on, are "leading indicators" giving one insight of a solid sort one had not had before.  Mercury goes backward to help us "REcover" things we have either forgotten or never known.  (Plato said that all knowledge is REcollection because of his belief in immortal life and REincarnation.)
