Hiatus just means "gap" in Latin according to my old dictionary. Since this is a holiday weekend in the U. S. A., and the final three days of Mercury's retrograde motion, it seems that it is a hiatus in some sense, let's hope a good one. Aspects are generally quite smooth, except for the opposition of the sun with Neptune on which we pinned some of the dangers of Hurricane Harvey together with the square of the sun to Saturn, concurrently with Neptune's long-continuing square with that difficult planet. For Texans along the coast of course this obviously means "reconstruction," one of those "re" words so prominent during any Mercury-retrograde cycle and emphasized now because Saturn is the planet of long-term solidity or foundation: That which takes much time and trouble (Saturn) to get in shape in the first place, and to reconstruct.

The rest of us might be trying to reconstruct something other than our homes, perhaps something quite subtle, but we have a holiday weekend in which to take it easy and so the "reconstruction" could be mostly in our pondering and musing. Still it could feel important even if we say little about it to anyone.

This weekend is always a "hiatus" between the summer and the school year for students, and this time even more definitely because of the retrogradation.

The Dark Hermetic Epoch, which I might have named the Slow Epoch or the Chrysalis Epoch, or maybe the Drifting Epoch, continues until Tuesday the 19th, though Mercury turns direct on Tuesday the 5th just when people are going back to work. And so we could still be drifting, or in a chrysalis state, next week, in fact it's quite sure that most shall be. I like the analogy of a chrysalis because it sometimes seems we are crawling during any DHE, though our wings may be forming slowly through our gradual rethinking and re-feeling or re-understanding of things, until we might be ready to fly (by the 19th or later this time).

So that is where we are. It is good to take it slow, let things simmer or form slow chemical reactions as in a retort, while we await a time of more definite, clearer, more forward activity along the lines of our projects or careers (after the 19th).

I hope you have an enjoyable long weekend. Although hard aspects to Neptune, such as we have now, can be bad for being inebriated, I include Toby Keith's wonderful drinking song for your enjoyment and temptation!

{Labor Day Weekend} {Hiatus}

Cosmic Piper

P. S. I grew to like this song without having seen the video. If you get past the garishly weird puppet-mouth of the Toby Keith icon and watch all of it, it gets better!
