Moon in Taurus **
Week of Saturday October 15 through Friday October 21, 2016:
I have not been doing weekly forecasts of late, but have continued to research weekly charts. I found years ago that the beginning of the week is Saturday, not Sunday or Monday, in an astrological sense. This has esoteric certification in the world periods as outlined by Blavatsky, Steiner and others, beginning with the Saturn period and going through the Venus period. But I was not driven to this method by theory, but by observation.
None of the weekly charts of late have been brilliantly promising, because of the multitude of squares and oppositions. This week there are thirteen squares and oppositions (difficult aspects) and only 6 sextiles and trines (easy aspects). So we can congratulate ourselves that we just keep going. That in itself is an achievement.
I am looking at all the aspects and positions, but as an entree to their meaning the symbolic degrees are invaluable.
Saturn both last week and this week has been at 12Sagittarius13. Charubel gives: "Death, with a scythe in one hand and a bag of money in the other. A miser; one who will starve himself for gain; and one who would delight in slaughter and carnage if it would prove of some monetary advantage to himself." In relation to the American presidential campaign, this is self-evidently appropriate--each candidate is accusing the other of being that "miser." The Sabian symbol is "A widow's past brought to light. Keyword: Rectification." This also makes sense in that not exactly widows but mature women have been complaining about one of the candidates concerning his and their "past," and that candidate has been accusing the other candidate's husband of the same issues. (Are we really going through all this?) What is the needed "rectification"?
Jupiter last week was at the degree (Borelli): "A naked man in the act of falling from a rock into a lake. It indicates a person of susceptible and weak nature, easily led away, and liable to be drawn to his destruction by the agency of the opposite sex The native may attain to a high position in life, but whatever his position, he is in danger of an untimely fall. Let him take heed against the allurements of the world. It is a degree of Falling." This is self-explanatory in relation to Donald Trump; last week was his big week of "Falling." But he tried to turn the tables and make the degree redolent of Bill Clinton's old problems; Clinton had Mars and Neptune in that very degree in his birth-chart!
This week Jupiter is in the following degree, which by Borelli is: "A young maiden weeping over a grave. It denotes one of a melancholy and retiring nature, very sensitive, and of keen sympathies. The native will be in danger of early bereavement, and will at an early age be left devoid of family ties and friends. It is a degree of Effacement." Well, let's not get worked up over this. It probably just means we will be "sensitive and of keen sympathies" at least; and perhaps feel "melancholy and retiring" in the face of life's ordinary disappointments. It is necessary to study all the degree-symbols and harmonize them rather than get stuck on one.
I have found the degree-symbols for the transiting Jupiter to be extremely significant. Charubel gives for Jupiter: "A figure representing what is called 'the true lover's knot.' A person having strong sympathies; very confiding. In the meantime he or she may pass through this world unnoticed and with the finest feelings of the soul unreciprocated." Poor us!
Jones and Wheeler give, as the Sabian symbol for the same degree: "A blazing fireplace in a deserted home. Keyword: Guardianship." You can see how this almost reconciles, or puts together, the two other symbols arrived at by different clairvoyants. The weeping girl feels her home is deserted. But if we love someone, without much return for the love, we still want to be guardians of that person, protect her or him, "keep the home fires burning."
Ah, the human poignance of autumn!
From Mars we get a need to try to understand Nature's mysteries, this week. There can be a craftiness in our pursuit of our designs, as if we didn't want everyone to know what we are up to. But we may have at our disposal much more than we realize--an inheritance from On High, if we secure it in the right way. (My own clue to that: Be thankful.)
Sol's degree-symbols suggest, first, systematic and patient observation, as if a scientist, which goes with what was said above. Then, quite cheery indications: We are explorers who make discoveries, and do not choose to remain in one place; we wander beneath and study the night sky and its brilliant reassuring signals. Then as the sun rises we greet the dawn with the Chanticleer, believing in it and ourselves.
Venus, in the sign of Mars and Pluto, is trying to be manly rather than womanly: "A military band on the march." She is as intrepid as Scorpio Hillary Clinton, it appears, pursuing what is essential rather than trivial. She could be persuasive by the power of her authority and evident bravery. Then Charubel gives his blessing (26Scorpio27) in the form of three asterisks: "* * * The native will prove a very extraordinary person; destined to take an active part in public life, and one who will exercise a great influence on mankind."
We can hope to embody that potential, and see it embodied in others.
