A one-star day during a Mercury Retrograde period means, Take it easy and don't panic. Things may seem boring or trying. You have to supply your own inspiration, or invoke it from On High. "What am I doing here?" is a question we all ask. You are not the only one who may wonder. It's a good question if it drives us to our deeper spiritual selves and Sources.
The pressure on Mars and Saturn, the two traditionally "malefic" or difficult planets, while both reside in Sagittarius, is working out in interesting ways. For example, Donald Trump, getting huge amounts of attention, is harping on how the U. S. should not be supporting foreign nations or getting involved in their affairs unnecessarily, and should deprive them of unwarranted trade benefits, and so on. Sagittarius is the sign of internationalism. At the same time, this graph is fascinating: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-36139904 . It shows how globally, more and more people in developing nations seem themselves as "global citizens," while in Europe and the U. S., people are going the other way and seeing themselves as less international. This is specially so in Germany now which has suffered from immigration problems, and Trump in the U. S. is picking up on the trend. Further, the Pope, once very popular as Saturn first entered Sagittarius, his own sun-sign, seems distinctively less so, or less in the news anyway, while Mars and Saturn in his sign are both retrograde and under pressure. Global citizen or not? seems to be a hot (Mars is a hot planet in a fire sign) question now.
The helpful Grand Trine in earth signs is hampered by the backward motion of all three planets (Pluto, Jupiter and Mercury) which suggests that while we have very good ideas about how to prosper, we may find it hard to figure exactly how to put those ideas to work in the real world, in regard to finance, savings or business. We can keep at it through all the ins and outs (retrogrades) and not lose heart. It's two and a half steps forward and then two back, but that is a half-step gained.
Love is not lost! Venus is in her own sign, Taurus, and beginning to form a sextile with Neptune and a trine with Jupiter. The latter is one of the most comforting and satisfying aspects in all astrology, and lasts from today through May 18 (by a ten-degree orb). Since it is in earth signs it could mean either gain financially, or in the "good things" of life as materially considered, or else just a more felicitous enjoyment of them. Even a street person may find that things happen in smooth ways so that he or she does not have to endure that feeling of poverty as acutely. As for the sentimental side of things, that likewise could flourish, with old friends and contacts renewing their interest and their affection (five retrograde planets). This may not be sharply evident today, since it is just beginning and we are in the |difficult third|, but you may take heart and see some evidence of it in feelings and intuitions.
Things you want to work out with your mind, through research, study, calculation or observation, may go well while Luna is sextile Mercury, and also for the next six weeks of the Dark Hermetic Epoch. The "darkness" means that the enquiry is slow and painstaking, with a lot of backtracking, but still can be fruitful and fascinating. You can learn a great deal. There is no need to be in a hurry to exploit what you learn, or push it outward into the world ambitiously. Rather you can save up, as it were, the nuggets of information and wisdom you acquire to be used later perhaps in June and July.
