\Geared-Up Hopes/

Moon in Capricorn   ***

We are all weary of it but I have to mention it again: Mars opposite Uranus, now by a little more than a degree and separating, and Mars and Uranus both square Pluto, the latter applying to Uranus because that planet is moving backward (to geocentric perspective). This has been (a) Donald Trump, who has Uranus in high focus in his birth chart, and his incendiary comments (he has Mars in a fire sign, Leo, in the first house). (b) The gun control debate, which is getting very old with entrenched positions on both sides. Mars-Uranus hard aspects are, it seems to me, THE gun aspects. One pulls a trigger (Uranus, quick spasmodic unpredictable action) to put a metal bullet (Mars) into a victim (squares can be anger, frustration, a perceived need to act) (and oppositions are just what they sound like, basic disagreements, so the opponents each think the other is so wrong he doesn't deserve to live). All this is just so wrong that everybody should perceive how wrong and stupid and cruel and demeaning and ugly and unethical and dastardly and hellish it really is. But we discuss it on and on as if it were debatable.

Then (c) there are a multitude of smaller Mars-Uranus (or Mars-Uranus-Pluto) perils we hardly notice because they go on in ourselves. Short tempers. Blowing up at a perceived injustice in a way which makes it worse rather than better. Being mean to people because they seem so wrong they don't deserve kindness. And on and on.

And then (d) the most frequent of all, feelings identical with (c) but as going on within ourselves and not expressed to anyone. That is like a fuse burning inside us and we seldom extinguish it before it has made us miserable in one way or another. But we could change that.

A basic lesson of astrology: "We could change that." We do not have to be victims of the planets.

Then we would express harsh Mars-Uranus aspects as creativity, energy, an attempt to get things done, a determination to get rid of not people but bad and hurtful tendencies or habits in ourselves. It can also come out as technology, for Uranus rules electricity. I had an electrical problem in my apartment and in the past two days someone came to look at it and promised a solution on Monday, although I have yet to know how that will work out. That is just one small example. Today I had to unplug my wifi for various reasons for many hours and that disturbed the routines of a neighbor who also uses it at my behest. Another small example. I had to unplug my clock radio while people were working in my apartment and now I will have to reset it. Another small example. If you watch the aspects like a hawk you will notice these things. In moving a lamp I love it actually fell on the floor, this morning, and I thought it was a goner. But then I found that only the bulb was broken and it still works. Hallelujah! That was unintended "violence" toward an inanimate object which I love and I was very grateful that I was spared losing it.

If all that seems trivial, maybe it is, but each such incident takes some of our time and is an example of a Mars-Uranus aspect. Electricity proving troublesome, or electrical appliances or wiring proving so and requiring attention. All this, of course, is much better than getting shocked by an electrical impulse, or blowing up in anger and destroying a partnership, which are also possible Mars-Uranus scenarios.

It's an "I am right, you are wrong" aspect. Of course both parties in the conflict feel that way. Trump and the Muslims. The NRA and the New York Times.

Add to it the square of Saturn with Neptune, exact within two degrees, and you have a formula for religious conflict, for Pisces (where Neptune is) is the sign of Christianity and Sagittarius is the sign of Islam. Yet the square does not mean these two have to remain enemies. Interfaith dialogue and cooperation is happening, albeit with difficulties.

What helps is Venus trine Neptune, a sense of invisible or inaudible harmony. Then, today especially, there is Mercury in a sextile with Venus on one side and Neptune on the other, accented because today the moon joins it and fortifies both sextiles. This can be very nice sharing on any level you choose, of food or drink or good times, of sound ideas (Mercury in Capricorn) or mystical unity (Neptune in Pisces) or something a little more salacious or erotic (Venus in Scorpio).

Sunday 12 December 2015

Much of this remains the same. The moon remains in Capricorn *** and goes void-of-course when it trines Jupiter at 3:08p PT | 6:08p ET | 11:08p UT   ** /. Before that is a good time to sharpen or clarify your thinking, to cultivate ideas and perceptions, to embrace idealism. Today may be the last, or almost last, day of the international conference on the environment in Paris, which coincided with the square of the sun and Jupiter, the latter being in Virgo the sign of environmental issues and waste, while the sun is in Sagittarius the sign of international cooperation (or the need of it). Because the moon trines Jupiter today we may perhaps see some good results from all that, or let us hope so. Today is also practical, for the trine of Luna and Jupiter lies in earth signs, so you may make progress in some career area or in your domain of expertise.

I did not have time to study the symbols for these two days and compose quatrains so I will give another one. I do not remember if I have posted it. It was not based on the degree-symbols but came to me spontaneously one evening. It reflects the hope of the New Moon which came a couple days ago and is still very fresh:

Limits are the nearest focus to the truth of
Finite facts. Spades, hearts and clubs come up
Before you find the diamonds. Those really cannot
Buy anyone a heart, though clubbing the unwary.

Then you spade the ground of the unconscious
To release the limits you didn't know were there.
All this stuff? These misconceptions, tender-callow
Worried-angry sentiments, suspicions, geared-up hopes?

They were there when I was twenty and still they are!
Some are mellowed, some tattered or turned faintly senescent.
Others maintain the fire of youth: Shall not go out!
Those geared-up hopes! As long as Cosmos lasts are they rewound.
