*Deeper, More Peaceful Satisfactions*

On Labor Day, we perform no labor. This we might have a hard time explaining to an extraterrestrial visitor.

Was I right about the weekend? Didn't I say that the tide would change late Sunday and that before that we were in the |retreat| period of the week? Where I live, the physical weather changed exactly on late Sunday afternoon, the sun came out (it had been dark all weekend) and people started to smile and be happy. But even if in some parts of the world there were storms and pounding rain, I would guess people felt better, saying "Oh isn't the rain marvelous?" and had a good time indoors.

In short, Cosmic Piper was right again.

So today, Monday, we should have a quite pleasant day, at least until the moon makes its sextile with Neptune at 5:13p PT | 8:13p ET | 12:13a(Tu) UT; after that it is void of course, for a winding-down evening.

Ordinary, conventional pleasures may be the best. People are disguising their odd disagreements (in Truth there are no disagreements) and getting along as best they can for the sake of mutual peace.

A brilliant, remarkable spiritual teacher comes into your consciousness in an even stronger, more convincing way.

Part of the time you may wonder, however, if your own plans are on solid ground, or financially feasible. You are gaining on goals, though slowly.

While Saturn opposes Uranus, some feel alienated from kindred or countrymen, either because of quarrels, disagreements, or political intrigue. Hey guys, things are seldom as harsh as they seem. A little patience goes a long way.

It is a sad fact that people who have sometimes the greatest awareness, fit to teach and lead, are considered disreputable because of slander or gossip. (Socrates, condemned to death by the 'good' men of Athens, is an example.) It is important to dissociate essentially good people from the peccadilloes for which they might be responsible (as all of us are if we were to admit the truth). Then we do not punish ourselves by depriving ourselves of their virtue, skill or learning.

The contentment and philosophic patience of a Socrates are wonderfully health-preserving (even in his case until the end when his life was taken from him by external forces). Many elderly individuals have discovered the secret of long and happy life although they do not proclaim it and might not know how to articulate it.

Sometimes self-respect leads to right action, rather than the other way around; and respect for your partner leads to the partner's "reformation" rather than the other way around.

Thrift and humility are not boring when they yield contentment. While Mars opposes Pluto and squares Mercury, he is learning that most battles are not worth the hassle, suffering and bloodshed. Or, if he has a taste for such things, he is brought up short. A life of modest endeavors and simple habits is specially appealing during the Dark Hermetic Epoch (until October 14) when overly big plans get snarled. Males can learn to be real males without constant battling or the more pointless forms of competition. Competing to win the admiration of one's family or close associates is more interesting than fighting.

Sparse food and drink are compatible with deeper pleasures, which stem from internal satisfaction. Your impulses can be fulfilled when you attune yourself to something higher, the angelic forces, which are real even if misinterpreted by your associates.
