Saturday 18: }Colorful Self-Affirmation{
A fair woman looking at her face in a handglass
Is frivolous and light-hearted, laughing at fate,
Self-centered and worldly, flaunting her colors.
When a military band goes on the march she would
Distract the troops from clear duty, but their
Intrepidity as a blare of self-affirmation
Postpones any indulgence in self-satiety.
Miners have finished their work for the week
And emerge from the mine, escaped from
Hampering and unattractive labor, ready to
Enjoy its fruits while strong in the character
It builds. The seasons are changing. At home
The family is already thinking of Christmas,
Unpacking from the attic tree decorations.

Sunday 19: }Escape to Supernature{
An owl is perched in a tree, unaware of a
Snake coiled in the branches. He is silent
And watchful, yet his plans could be upset.
Below in the field crouches a tiger, ready
For a spring on its prey, natural to it, but
A man-tiger would be treacherous and cruel,
Unnatural for the human level of evolution.
To escape predatory humans, a person of
Melancholy or misanthropic character, roughly
Hewn like a pillar of black marble, stands upon
A rock. He or she made a bad match and became
Separated and solitary. Pondering life's futility
In loneliness, he develops supernatural powers.
Then he steps from the pedestal to influence public life.
