~Toward Peace~
Walking on the edge of a precipice, this man
Seems reckless but is sensitive as well as
Impulsive, and honorable and affectionate.
He sees in the rocks the imprint of invisible
/
Forces forming patterns not yet clear, but their
Composition saves him from falling and shows him
How to remold the course of events. He walks up
A promontory illumined by the noonday sun, covered
/
With flowers. He feels, proud, light-headed and
Charming, welcoming fortune's favors. Two swords
Crossed on the ground invite him to stand on them
And point upward with an invisible scepter.
/
The world needs peace. He invokes it by confiding
In a higher power, source of rocks, flowers, sunshine.
