It's the center of the |difficult third| of this week. 'A lonely traveler in a solitary way, with a heavy burden on his back, is assaulted by ruffians.' It's not likely to be that bad for most of us, though Charubel warns that this character 'is always imposed upon and wronged out of his hard-earned pittance.' That's probably just a mood or feeling. We seem to be in 'a dark tunnel,' but 'the walls are covered with symbols and hieroglyphics' which, in a mystical or antiquarian way, point to light and escape ahead.
All that is well and good, yet we remain in the |hard third| of this week and one may feel like 'a general accepting defeat gracefully.' There are further battles ahead. It is expedient to smile through temporary defeat while remaining loyal to the long-range ends in view. Meanwhile there are 'many toys in the children's ward of a hospital' so that life is rich and full of opportunity even for those suffering physical and psychological limitations. There is abundance to be appreciated and enjoyed 'despite any transient accident of circumstance.'
Using 'a plow,' one can continue with 'arduous, protracted labors' and, through inherent force of character and incisive definition of purpose, cut out a line in life for oneself. Then one may see 'a soft cloudy cumulus upon the bright horizon,' having improved one's luck through 'a pliant and sympathetic nature, adaptable to environment, hopeful and confident.' One becomes an associate of those who have influence and power in the land. With a mind set on high truths, one is suave. One's fortunes lie in smooth places.
