'A serpent surrounded by a circle of fire' is the subtle, resentful, passionate and tortuous side of our thoughts and feelings. Probably most of the dangers by which we seem surrounded are self-created. Some may feel captive to a 'fiery ordeal.' We should not forget those being persecuted in China or in some African (as Nigeria) or Islamic nations. There are ways to help, as for example through Persecution.org. 'Two men in fierce strife' could be on opposite sides of any political divide, feeling aggressive and quarrelsome. Those 'at war with prevailing opinions and popular beliefs' could be right but need to watch how they might stir up unnecessary trouble.
'A racecourse, the racers at full speed' could indicate betting or gambling, or speculating in other ways. This could be Mars in Sagittarius, a sign of horses as well as, sometimes, speculation. It is limited by Mars's square with Neptune, a planet of obligations that need to be met. Yet one might be ascending 'a spiral staircase within a dark enclosure, with sunshine at the top.' One is busy for small returns, at first, but ultimately there is good luck.
'Pelicans moving their habitat' could be restless individuals trying to be at the forefront of things. They need to be sure they are moving from an unprofitable to a profitable phase of life rather than quarreling pettily with their location. Some frontiers are good while others embody loss of security. When we listen to 'a hidden choir singing' we attune ourselves to a guiding 'music of the spheres' which reorders inharmony into harmony. Worship of the Supreme invokes and establishes common, beneficent interests.
