A friend wrote that she is so unhappy with the way the world is going that she is losing interest in life. I feel that this is a tough time as shown by the intense squares between Mars plus Uranus in early Taurus and Mercury plus Saturn plus Jupiter in early Aquarius. The Mars-Saturn square has been never-ending since August---maybe it's the 'pandemic square' because these two planets are the 'malefics.' It ends finally in the second week of February but other harsh aspects continue until March or April. Springtime may bring us out of the woods. (Or into the woods to enjoy the flowers).
Today we have 'a coal pit, the machinery at a standstill, the whole of the plant in a dilapidated condition.' Charubel says this could indicate accidents or bankruptcy. I'd say it shows what that friend wrote about, a general malaise. However, if we choose to be 'an Indian chief demanding recognition' we are extremely faithful to accepted values, and determined to maintain definite advantages. This is inflexibility based on dignity of character.
The best aspect now is Venus trine Mars, which can be romantic, though considering the squares just mentioned it is muted or mixed with concerns. It's in earth signs, so "a child of about five has a huge shopping bag." He can fill it with things for friends or family as well as for himself, through 'a breadth of participation in everyday living.' We are expecting a lot from life and it may be provided. 'A clear mountain stream' is resourcefulness. There are sources of strength in us and around us. Our purity and consistency stream into a definite course of self-expression.
If we tune in to the good Venus-Mars aspect, we may experience 'a boy and girl standing with arms entwined.' This shows not only affection but adaptability, alternation, or being 'a connecting link' such as an ambassador or diplomat. Or, resembling the Indian chief of an earlier paragraph, we are like 'a rocky eminence in the midst of a turbulent sea.' The turbulence is the sextuple square. The rocky eminence is our self-reliance and stability, based on our particular originality. We 'stand alone and endure popular displeasure.' Yet we might find the hand of that 'boy or girl.'
