Moon in Capricorn
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week continues
The New Moon of Capricorn occurs at 5:29p PT | 8:29p ET | 1:29a(Su) UT

As usual, there are mixed signals, which makes my task exceedingly difficult. The |serious third| is not always morose, but can slip into morose introspection at times. The symbols for the day are mixed. The first is exceptionally good, suggesting enjoyment, good luck, the favors of the world, and self-admiration. It also suggests happy personal connections, "Two lovers strolling through a secluded walk." This would fit with the increasing trine between Mars and Venus, now less than five degrees (and lasting technically through February 9).

Other indications suggest the difficulty of five planets in Capricorn, the sign of discrimination and of slow perseverance to attain thorough victory. If "the devil is in the details," Capricorn can exorcise the devils. The symbol of a portcullis guarding a prison means we need some personal seclusion to get things done, as is natural in the final days of an Old Moon (the New comes late tonight, time above).

Venus's symbol, "An Indian squaw pleasing to the chief for the lives of her children," suggests that her needed plea could be effective. And so perhaps we should pray for those for whom we feel any anxieties. Doing that makes us aware of any negative or doubtful thoughts and feelings we may have toward friends or relatives, so that through positive prayer we can rout those "devils" from our consciousness and uplift those we care about toward blessings.

Intellectual problems and serious studies are favored, with Mercury trine Uranus. Because it is also square Mars we may be aware that some will dispute our conclusions, yet this need not prevent us from thinking things through with the faculties G*d has given us felicitously.
