\Test of Spiritual Stamina/

I am feeling the Dark Hermetic Epoch in my bones and feel I need to clarify it for myself as well as those of you who find it helpful. I have been working at this since 1979 when I discovered these Epochs (yes, I, Cosmic Piper) and wrote an article for Horoscope Magazine which was published and re-published. But so far as I know, no other astrologer has picked up on the DHE or understood it fully.
Here's the agenda again:
1/5 DHE--> [1/21 MercuryRetrograde-->2/11 MR ends] -->3/3 DHE ends---
followed by a Bright Hermetic Epoch of two months
Here is some of what it means as I sense it today:
1. Out-of-pattern. This was discussed yesterday. Things, plans, schedules go out-of-pattern.
2. Doubt. You question things which before had not seemed doubtful. This could be religious, political, spiritual, theoretical, or concerning friends or lovers and their loyalty, or your job and position in relation to superiors, ambitions, or anything.
3. Forgetfulness. I actually forgot two astrological charts in a restaurant tonight. I can reprint them so it is not serious but annoying.
Let's just consider these three at first, and more in days ahead. Here is how they can be transformed:
1. Spontaneous adjustment, variety, freshness. Things may still be out-of-pattern but your attitude toward them makes the change and variety interesting and fresh rather than threatening or annoying.
2. Regrasp of foundations, beliefs, loyalties and plans. Yes there is doubt, but this is a channel or opening for rethinking why you believe what you believe, why you are trying to do what you are trying to do, and why you trust as friends or associates certain individuals or groups.This may move on to why you trust the spiritual teachers or traditions which help you the most. The doubt was constructive because it helped you find a deeper reason for your life-foundations and loyalties. Your plans may undergo modification but that makes them stronger.
3. Letting go of the trivial to reach for the divine. True, you may be absent-minded. But what you are pondering in those moments is something very important to you, no matter how inchoate. It is trying to get into your conscious awareness and is taking these moments from your busy life to do that. Maybe what is being interrupted (in the outer world) is not as important as what is trying to become conscious in you. It could be memories, recollections of things and people; it could be a love-swoon; it could be anxieties which, when you approach them with a spiritual orientation, can be turned into deeper faith. So your forgetting something carelessly could be because you are trying to bring those deeper things into your awareness so they can enrich your life.
I hope this makes sense to you and helps you navigate the DHE.
For Wednesday I said, "Since the moon opposes Mars, young males could be a center of attention." Little did I know that the three young males who turned into terrorist killers in Paris would be among those who would be "a center of attention." The lunar aspect brought out the opposition of Jupiter with Mars (Luna was with Jupiter and opposing Mars) and that aspect (or the Jupiter-Mars square) is known for "religious difficulties" or religious strife or argument. I will not comment further on the crime; there will be plenty of commentary and discussion everywhere. The horrific incident brings out this aspect in its worst form for all to see. At more normal levels it is merely disagreement or disputation. I engaged in that with a pastor on Monday, after walking out on a sermon by a different pastor on Sunday.
For Thursday: We may need the above tools to get through this one happily. Luna does not form any promising aspects. Her opposition with Neptune and Mars can be inner restlessness, at worst leading to alcohol or drug "escape" which makes things mostly worse. At best it is spiritual restlessness leading to inner discovery and the power of strong ideals. (And I do mean that high ideals, if reconstituted frequently, can create an actual force-field of power.)
We can try for that to get over any disappointments, doubts or anxieties. Love counts most, perhaps, when it is love of an enemy or someone who is seriously troubled. I don't expect much "easy love" today, but we can work ourselves up to the more selfless love of those who need it drastically yet may not be able to return it.
