}Intoxicating Understanding{

Explaining, astrologically, something like the school killings of Friday is next to impossible, that is, predicting them is impossible and the after-view of what happened is always also problematic because any skeptic could say "But it didn't have to happen." Of course not. Astrology is not fatalism. I admit I did not predict something like this in the forecast covering the period. However, one of the symbols I used, for the placement of a prominent planet during the period, was from the 19th-century clairvoyant Senior Borelli, as interpreted by Charubel (Walter Gorn Old). Here it is: "A broken tree struck by a lightning flash. This is the index of a mind occupied with abortive projects, vain ambitions, and unfortunate relationships. His life is likely to be short and his end sudden. All his ambitions will fall short of accomplishment, and dire catastrophe will cut off his hopes ere he can reap the harvest of his endeavors. It is a degree of Abscission." One can see readily how accurate this is as applied to the way many individuals experienced the day, especially of course the killer, his victims and their families. Those not directly affected by the school tragedy also experienced something like this. I did. I had to spend several hours on the phone, then copying documents and preparing them to mail, then standing in a long line at the post office, to try to straighten out a so-called "debt" which I in fact do not owe but have to spend maybe a hundred hours proving that I do not owe it. In my younger days this might have made me feel like killing somebody. Likewise, I had an argument with a friend during this period which was unusually "violent" at the verbal level. Not only the degree-symbol just given, but the presence of the moon in Capricorn (where it is in its detriment) with both Mars and Pluto is a rather ominous indication, bespeaking potential violence coming from a heart of bitterness. So it was.

But I admit that, once again, I tried to take the optimistic view. I cannot see a reason to write these forecasts if all I said was, "Another bleak day, watch out for violence." Would that really help anyone? Instead I said, "When there is defeat, apparently, one can accept it gracefully and maintain one's morale into the next phase of things, which could be a cycle of victory even if in a changed milieu. It is good to be expedient, using what one has in the most felicitous manner rather than mourning over what one does not have."  And, "If there are plans which have failed utterly in your life, that is just what is. You can accept it rather than be bitter about it. At any age there are further vistas to experience and further attempts to be made. Someone, perhaps a woman, inspires you to carry on and heals your wounded pride." This would have been excellent advice for the killer, if he had read it that morning and pondered it. Instead, you who read these forecasts are already good, honorable, responsible people who do not need help as much as those who do not read the forecasts, which includes billions. I don't know what to do about that. This second quotation also applied to me exactly, and three women were very helpful to me in helping me to carry on.

And so I carry on, with another forecast.

The often confused thinking of recent period, so evident in Washington, continues, while both Mercury and Jupiter are in signs of their detriment. This is not hopeless and should be getting better by the day while Mercury increases in speed.

This period appears to be "bipolar," or in other words, manic-depressive, that is, you alternate between high inspiration which makes you feel capable of anything at all, and a "realistic" feeling that you have to keep toiling and slaving on and on, a servant of servants, to accomplish anything worth while. Well, that alternation must sound familiar, but the chart suggests that it will be intense.

Even though we're in the |karmically difficult third| of this week, I would not discourage you from having a good time or being with people in as happy a context as possible. You could be mentally intoxicated, and perhaps fluidly at some point, but this need not have disastrous consequences if you are reasonably careful.

You are getting some welcome recognition, and seeing how you can get more of it. That is satisfying to your ego, which needs something to uplift it. You have been valiant, brave, and successful along some line and this is a badge you wear. It does not have to make you big-headed and obnoxious, which would get you slapped down in quick order. That probably won't happen because another side of you is resigned to your lot, content with what you have and where you are, the position you are in and associates who just turn up. And that is good because is not G*d everywhere? And in every situation, awaiting our recognition?

You get healing from certain sources, and you know what they are. This could be Scripture, other spiritual reading, chanting, meditating, praying, repeating mantra, or singing. Any or all of this could be unusually uplifting. Then you will see how to balance that with what needs to be done in a more practical manner. You will not flinch from criticism or self-criticism. Reading good literature is a path of criticism, in a way, even when it is comedic or humorous. Religious or spiritual discussions help us rise beyond ourselves, if we are humble enough to see other viewpoints and learn from them.
