}Firmness{
"Something" is burgeoning upward, coming into the light, making you feel you are setting yourself forth before the world, taking a stand or having some standing. "The world" is something we all seem to believe in even if we have radically different understandings of what it is
People hide a little. They simulate what they are even if they don't know what they are. This can look like play or like foolishness. It gets somewhat better if it is shared in a setting such as a fellowship or group of brothers, sisters or acquaintances. People wonder why they are where they are. But they are there and stay. Then they figure out why, or where they will be in the future, or when they will come back, and why the world is round and time is round.
People seek spiritual knowledge in a big way. They are willing to fight for it, even. "Don't get in my way, I am pressing into the inner worlds!" At the same time, they want ultimate material rewards, in the form of security to continue their seeking wherever it takes them (inwardly more than outwardly).
You may note that some people have secret notions which are wrong. That blocks them from fulfillment. They need to see their faults and failures for what they are. (So do all of us, without being neurotic or obsessive-compulsive about it.)
Humility to do ordinary labor, what might seem boring labor, is essential. There is no reason to complain; everybody has to do it, and the notion that some are free of it is false. So you can pick up the complex or tiresome details of effort or communication in your work and just proceed.
Some individuals personify qualities or skills you are striving to develop, and that is wonderful. You can emulate them, even though your achievement will not be the same as theirs; imitation is not bad because it leads to more original developments when it has fulfilled itself.
The ancients are here with us. We can emulate the better in them. The worse we will not even notice, most likely. History is kind in forgetting the worst in cultures, nations and outstanding individuals. So we are free to idealize their best, most congenial traits and manifest them a little better.
The way you try to defend yourself from people, or their influence or their annoyance, is important because it tends to define you. It is well to be secure within yourself, which you can be if you have a secure relation with the Supreme One. Then you do not "sweat" so many things which are trivial.
We display ourselves to the world first in our minds, yet the way the real display happens is always different than we had imagined. That keeps us alive and young. Feeling royal within ourselves helps us to be worthy of royalty in social realms. We cannot fool ourselves, so then we become genuine to others. We also feel we know what is best for ourselves, and will not give in to others' notions. There is a way to do this which is firm yet peaceable. Then those who would block our path know better, and fall away from us.
