~Within the Maze a Heritage~

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day have always seemed rather baneful to me. Maybe that could be blamed on Capricorn, sign of Saturn the "big nasty" planet . . . or the Teaching, Correcting planet if one wants to be nice.

Therefore the painful, baneful "New Year's Resolutions" one knows will be so hard to keep.

We have "a butcher conducting a sheep into a slaughter-house." Well, if you are not a vegetarian or vegan, you are that butcher. Think about it. Or the butcher can just be our realization that we have to sacrifice some "animal" within ourselves if we are going to live up to any of those famous "Resolutions." Take it however it pleases you; that you will do anyway (sorry but I feel pretty cynical about both myself and my readers). "A serpent standing erect within a circle of fire" however is Knowledge of a brave sort. One searches out secrets of nature or of business or of the stock market (many planets in money places in the daily chart). Mars in the final degree of Scorpio in septile and tri-septile with Uranus while the latter is bi-septile Saturn is a fateful configuration. Many will feel distraught or uneasy. What is left undone that you need to do? These planets are screaming that question to you; they are the fire around you but you by rising to the occasion are not hurt by the fire but "take life at a crisis and turn it back from the gates of death." 

We and the serpent are still in that blazing "maze." I feel it. You must, if you are honest. Many things seem more complicated than you wish them to be. But we can figure it out. At the moment, only the shallow would find the maze entertaining. Its enigmas cry for solution. "The Halloween jester" may be spontaneously buoyant but his overbroad humor may leave bruises. Is he a shallow jokester or does wisdom lurk in his irony?

There is inspiration, and there is belief in things supernormal. (What would we do without that? Even the materialists pretend they believe in going to Mars or freezing their bodies for a future resuscitation, so the "supernormal" for them is pretty ordinary yet extraordinary.  They certainly do lack imagination, even they must admit.) The real supernormal is really super and really normal at the super level; read Leslie Kean's Surviving Death to find out a few of those secrets the serpent gets at crisis point. The sweetest symbol of the day tells of "a spacious park with baronial mansion in the background." Charubel says this estate or possession may belong to us even though we don't realize it; it has come down from high-class ancestors. We could claim our inheritance at a spiritual or material level or both.

~Grievances Resolved through Charitable Alliances~

Whatever grievances there are may be hard to define or elucidate. You may have a sense that there is injustice in some matter which requires attention and resolution, maybe involving money or costs. Perhaps someone you care about seems to be a victim of injustice and you are pleading with authorities, or the Highest Authority, to give effective relief and right wrongs.

Your native powers and internal resources are so abundant that you may feel content with the offspring of your own creative genius, which is original. Whims could lead in peculiar directions, but are not likely to damage your income or position in the world. "A maze" could be entertaining or a waste of time but the five planets in earth signs are holding us to practical results one way or another. May your maze lead to treasure at its center. 

"Someone keeping guard over an encampment of women, children, old people and invalids" sounds like one of the many relief workers around the world, for whom we can be very grateful---unsung heroes. This is the nobility of a "true knight" who befriends the poor and indigent. Perhaps you can support some such individual or group with a charitable donation, or live such a role yourself in some capacity. This is selfless, but does not ruin one's own prospects at all but enhances them. One can be enterprising and adventurous, "a ship in full sail upon a sunlit sea," benefiting from those remote from oneself in temperament or location, cosmopolitan, forming useful alliances.

P. S. In two recent posts I mentioned a "trine between Mercury and Jupiter." Astrologers among us may have noted that this is wrong. It's actually a conjunction of Mercury with Jupiter, while both of them are closely trine to Uranus. The meaning of it is virtually the same, good fortune with business or financial dealings. I have noted over the years that major fruitful changes in finances happen when Mercury is trine, sextile, or conjunct Jupiter. Uranus in this present case might make it even more liberating.

Merry Seventh Day of Christmas! And Happy New Year!  Luna with Neptune in Pisces tonight may make us sentimental though also hard-nosed and practical about the coming year of "2020 vision." Cheers!

~Patiently Becoming a Refuge or Leader~

"What remains unaccomplished?" could be the question of the day, with five planets in Capricorn the ambitious sign plus Mercury with Jupiter, both trine Uranus, very good for planning, especially in this Bright Hermetic Epoch (to February 2). In other words, it is good to examine what you feel you have not yet done in this life which you wanted to do. Plans for continuing it could be "right on" at this point. 

Some of the symbols suggest that we could be feeling that some of those plans and hopes have collapsed. This would fit with the sun's approach to Saturn in Saturn's own sign, which can be depressing unless we are up for a challenge. Being self-supporting is good, but also one should be open to receiving help when greatly needed. An angel is waiting to give you a "gold crown" when you have climbed the steep hill you feel you ought to climb. Steps have been carved out for you if you can see them.

If you feel you are in a maze, that is all right; you are figuring it out with ingenuity. Some whims might mislead you but you can regain poise. You remain "the king or queen of the fairies approaching his or her domain" and that leaves room for imaginative leadership which may not always seem soberly practical but is inspiring (moon in Pisces). People will feel allegiance toward you when they sense that you are on an interesting and appropriate track.

Capricorn is often a strong sign, the strength and endurance of the goat. Charubel says via a symbol that we could be possessed of boundless vitality and recuperative power, increasing longevity. This does not go nowhere, because another symbol is "a strong iron gate" of security which leads into a haven or refuge for all who need a friend. They may look to you for defense, rest and satisfaction.

}From Anger to Creative Self-Establishment{

It's the fifth day of Christmas. (Not just in the popular holiday song but in the church calendar for centuries.) 

Anger issues are important, with Luna squaring Mars in its own sign Scorpio, plus Mars tri-septile Uranus. In some there could be even fury, stemming from a perceived injustice or arrogant rejection. Some will feel that they have been unfairly restrained, even imprisoned, not realizing that somehow they have flaunted what they thought were their rights to an unreasonable degree, threatening what others saw as their rights. We all have a love of freedom, yet also have to adapt ourselves to the social environment one way or another. 

Whatever is sacred or antique can arouse veneration during a time when Capricorn is so strongly emphasized (five planets therein). (Even Elvis Presley, a musical pioneer, yet Capricorn, venerated Jesus to the end and recorded a huge number of hymns.) What has been is a secure foundation for what can be. "Birds in the house singing happily" represent the descent of living, joyful spirit and intelligence into the reassuring inanimate foundations of our living. Mercury with Jupiter, both trine Uranus in earth signs shows we know how to make the world our own and use every talent to establish self-fulfillment.

The "veiled prophet of power" could be anyone who knows something others do not and uses that knowledge wisely, making himself supreme in some way not for ego-gratification but for the good of all. Then he or she could be "The king of the fairies approaching his domain" or "The queen of the fairies approaching her domain." Such an individual is imaginatively creative in a way capturing others' allegiance.

It's the fourth day of Christmas.

Working out budgetary matters could be helpful.

You press on with intrepidity. There is forcefulness. This could be anger sometimes. If you know you are right, you can assert yourself without stirring up dangerous forces on the other side.

Discombobulation is an issue, or this could be someone else's problem which affects you---someone is seeing things in a fragmentary or mixed-up sequence which does not add up to good sense or wise action. Thoroughness could be lacking, but you could supply it by learning and teaching pertinent details competently.

The maze of life seems enigmatic. Are others lost in it? Are you? Or can you use it intelligently for both entertainment and enlightenment? You are perhaps "a veiled prophet of power" to the extent you see things others do not see, but realize you cannot "unveil" yourself or your vision without stirring up antagonism. So you are content with your private knowledge. Your supremacy, however, may not be real supremacy unless you can use it to organize others' efforts along some line of accomplishment.

With six planets in Capricorn, including the moon today, we have a lot on our hands. What is your mission, your work, what makes your reputation? Many will be thinking about this intensively. Possibly the hours before the v-of-c (time above) will be more conducive to success.

What are the lacking or discombobulated factors in yourself which stand in the way? This is not a matter of pathology exactly, but you may be failing to coordinate your faculties with one another, letting them go in separate directions so that you do not bring projects to fulfillment. Analyzing what has gone wrong in that regard could be a big help, and someone else, or a group therapy sort of intervention, could be helpful. 

It's a matter of knowing to what you are devoted, to a large degree. You function something like "Indians making camp," meeting each fresh situation with new scrambling toward self-establishment. Such extemporization could be disorienting, or it could be amazingly successful if you are sure of the answer to that question, "To what are you devoted?" On what object are your affections set? Do you have perfect confidence in those to whom you give your heart? Then, even if they turn out to be unworthy of your sacrifice, you will succeed where others have failed, through wholehearted, concentrated devotion. This can be true even if those for whom you have labored disappoint you. That will not daunt you because you care for their ultimate welfare, which turns out to be inseparable from your own.

During this holiday season I feel impelled to focus on the longer view, so here is some more about the Bright Hermetic Epoch we are now experiencing until February 2. It began December 7 and the center of it, when Mercury conjoins the sun, is January 10. Charts for that moment seem to explain the whole two-month period, as I have explained before, and the symbols for the degrees of the zodiac occupied by the planets seem highly appropriate in my research (using past major events). I gave some of these in the report for December 24-25. You might want to review that, and here is more:

Jupiter in this chart seems highly significant, so let's take all three symbols for its location (from three different clairvoyants):

Signor Borelli, and his interpreter, Sepharial:  "A cross and a broken key." This could be a symbol of the major difficulty you face. Is the key you are using to resolve it "broken," that is, not effective as you wish? That could be someone else's fault, or your own. And so you can't get in to your haven of fulfillment, and have to "bear your cross" or work with the hard realities of your life in some way. This is not tragic, just normal perhaps. Ordinary work can be "the cross" in such symbolism. Or perhaps some kind of study or research, something to prepare you or repair the "broken key." Sepharial says that rather than keep twisting that key in the lock we should "knock and wait in patience." We should "restrain impetuosity and daring" but "cultivate humility of spirit." Then, with the "cross" (patient waiting and attempt) as "key to the treasures of this world" we may "enter the Gates of the Temple of Wisdom." 

Charubel's symbol is somewhat similar: "A man climbing a steep hill, a road consisting of steps; an angel form at the top giving words of cheer with a golden crown awaiting him." Here, again, are patience plus endeavor. Charubel says that this individual (why not you) "will be inspired to pursue an object worthy of his ambition" and will "labor hard and suffer in the fulfillment of his mission." Yet the angel at the top of the hill has that crown to bestow, and confers "words of cheer." 

Finally the Sabian symbol is ""An angel carrying a harp." This seems like easy transcendence, at first. It is "unconditioned enthusiasm."  According to Dr. Jones it is "attunement to an over-all harmony of which each individual is a part." This might be an even easier way of "carrying that cross" or "finding the right key," not releasing us from all personal endeavor but making it so harmonious that it inspires others also and makes our lives heavenly.

And so though we are in the |difficult third| of this week, the angels don't desert us.

Friends, I am taking a couple of days for holiday cheer, meditative musing and astrological research. This last never ends for me, but is always reassuring because I discern fresh ways of seeing and knowing what is going on in our Solar System as it connects with our lives. It is heartening that so many of you read and respond to these forecast-meditations. Thank you for your interest and loyalty.

Rather than reports based on the symbols for these two days, here is something about the whole Bright Hermetic Epoch lasting from December 7 through February 1:

The Sol-Mercury degree's symbol is: "A person ascending a spiral staircase with sunshine at the top, within a dark enclosure."  Charubel continues: "Denotes one who has much to do in life for very small returns; he may always appear busy, yet with but little to be seen for his labor; nevertheless, good luck falls to his lot at the end of his days." Since we are dealing with just a two-month period here, "the end of days" means simply some time during this period. This seems to be coming true for me, and I hope for you. Clarity about our goals and our methods is emerging and it seems we can "make it" rather than "fake it." 

The symbol for Mars in Signor Borelli's system is "A man of middle age watching over a cradle." This suggests "ties of kinship or love with those who are either enfeebled or bereft of health and fortune." This individual resigns to destiny, and is a sufferer in silence. He can pray, and help sympathetically, but not totally remove the cares his charges have to face for themselves. Sound familiar? Yet let us keep faith that our loyalty and prayer can save those we care about (or rather that He who answers heartfelt prayer can do so). 

The symbol for Venus in Signor Borelli's system for this Epoch is "A stately mansion surrounded by trees in an expanse of pastureland." This denotes capability and polish in one who upholds the traditions of his people and country. He is pleasant and frank and entertains people unostentatiously. He is prosperous and may acquire estate, or rejoice in it. 

Uranus gives us, via Signor Borelli, "A woman is gathering grapes, with which she fills many baskets." This is benefits and pleasures from old age or maturity, life's harvest-time. Yet also for younger people, acquisitive designs meet with much success. It is a degree of Gathering Together. 

I hope these indications for this two-month period (December 7 through February 1) illumine and enhance your holiday season. Merry Christmas!

^Self-Appreciation Pyramids to Social Harmony^

There is a "being alone" side to the day (not the only part of it) which is not at all loneliness but being content with one's own world, the offspring of one's own genius. No one else knows what you have here, and you don't need them. The only problem could be that if you got too self-sufficient you could take risks which are not wise but could be dangerous.

A large, impressive building could help you gain some foothold in your consciousness, or you could imagine such architecture. The sacred or antique is sublime and uplifts you. Then you could come down from that height in order to be with people, or they come to be with you, "Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man." If you feel you do not deserve such adulation, you have other forms of appeal. Perhaps someone you admire demonstrates that spiritual authority is higher than any other. 

At a more worldly level, you may still be climbing that "May-pole" to popularity and approbation. Of course we all want to be appreciated. Or we at least appreciate ourselves: "A woman nude, looking a her reflection in a pool of water." This could be dalliance and self-love, a form of egotism, yet is also artistry and appreciation of the artfulness of one's own body and of one's set of circumstances. The mercy and grace of the Supreme Artist is with us at this season. Appreciating ourselves helps us appreciate all others as well. Mars quintile Venus, plus Venus nonagen Neptune and Mars nonagen Jupiter, cannot be bad for love life or harmonious relations, however you choose to advance them.

~Recognizing One's Own Authority~

The sun enters Capricorn (the Winter Solstice) at 4:21 a UT (which was 8:21p PT | 11:21p ET Saturday night)

You feel bold, independent and forceful, whether like "Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance" or "a buffalo pawing the earth and snorting." You don't want restraints and could flout "laws" which seem unlawful to you. At best this means you will mobilize for practical accomplishment, even the primitive if need be. 

The question "Whom do I really trust?" could be lurking. Probably it is better to err on the side of being more trustful rather than less, with a slew of positive aspects such as Venus quintile Mars plus Uranus trine both Sol and Jupiter.  People are not angels but "a bunny metamorphosed into a fairy" suggests that their inner creative side is coming forward to remold everyday reality into poetry of soul.  Aspirations reign over animal impulses (to the extent the "buffalo of paragraph 1 calms down). 

The final two symbols show that there is no emasculation or loss of effective power in this transition. "An Indian chief demanding recognition" maintains his advantages and feels secure in the position he has attained. Your diplomatic and governmental side is coming forward, as if you were "an officer arrayed like a Chinese mandarin in an official robe of purple, gold and blue." High secrets are entrusted to you. Your merits have secured a position of authority.

"A cyclic man, not a time man" is one who lives a life beyond the present scheme of things, sensing the future's glories though finding it hard to communicate what they mean to anyone. This could be how many lonesome individuals feel. However, we also have "Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance," or a group which mobilizes for action. The "cyclic man" whose head is illumined by a heavenly ray might be able to lead them aggressively into a better phase of things.

And so we become "hunters starting out for ducks," keeping up with an enterprise we have started, honoring our own freedom of action with the elbow-room we make for ourselves in the world. This could bring startling success: "A man spading, a pick-axe nearby, holds in his hands a jewel reflecting the sun's rays." Exploration, discovery, and fortuitous means could grant considerable wealth or other good fortune. 

There are spiritual riches as well. Giving one form of wealth to get the other is a common experience, as the monk giving up all for his vocation, or in reverse mode the idealist becoming a realist and pursuing money. Balancing the two necessities is an art which perhaps few master. Perhaps "The Pope" is one, living among the luxuries of the Vatican while attempting to demonstrate to the world the virtues he is called upon to teach with his words. Sanctity is really sanctity when based on sacrifice or service. With a patient and firm will one surrenders to the Will of Heaven.

}From Foibles to Fearless Affirmations{

I would like to say, "Just relax and enjoy the holiday season," but our clairvoyants are telling us we could be lazy to our detriment: "A man lying upon a sheaf of corn, asleep, with viands at his side," and "A soldier derelict in duty." Dreams and visions need the power of action to be realized. One needs to be intelligent and responsive rather than unpractical and indifferent. It may be okay to "buck the system" like the derelict soldier if one is living out a principle or making a valid point, but not if one is deviating from reasonable obligations.

One could rise above these indications and be "a plowman plowing," steady and industrious. Yet still there is a possibility of twisting one's thinking in some way which is fearful to no point, or anxious, and thereby losing one's way,  failing to follow the direct and honest course.

Overcoming such weaknesses, one could become hospitable and generous, kindly and warmhearted, in one's "small cottage with wide-open door." Having faced your own weaknesses and foibles, you have compassion on others confronting similar problems. You might even let them impose on you, which is not a sin but might be imprudent if extreme. But it's the season for jollity. You and someone you know could be "Chanticleers," cocks, so called from the clearness or loudness of their voices in crowing. The integrity of your cognitions or judgments gains acceptance from those who appreciate your fervent role of self-affirmation.

There could be a falling-off of enthusiasm or a sense that things are at somewhat of a crisis. Yet this is the Queen of Hearts day of the holiday season and so love is definitely in the background sustaining us.

The symbol of "a funeral procession" could have to do with the impeachment proceedings. It means excitement, possibly accident or violence, but this could be purely in the mind. Saturn was at another degree (Mercury there today) on the day Trump was elected: "A person entering a dark tunnel." Charubel says that this person "will go wrong in life if there are no saving influences in operation." So we shall see how many "saving influences" there are in connection with the President. Regardless of politics, you may sense that you have to deal with mistakes you or others have made.

"A soldier derelict in duty" could be Trump, again, or from his and his supporters' viewpoint it could be those he has appointed who end up betraying him. At any rate, it suggests what the Democrats accuse him of, "faithlessness to the common welfare." On the positive side, however, it could be "a willingness to face the consequence of true self-assertion." He seems to have that in spades. Will the arrow of his life and career go into decline, or does it have enough oomph and support behind it to go on for another five years? I make no prediction. In your own life you may have to decide to whom you are loyal, knowing that some may see you as wrong. 

Loyalty comes up again with "a blazing fireplace in a deserted home."  Did you desert that home and put it and others in trouble? Or is the fireplace blazing merely to welcome you back? Is somebody's Christmas celebration blue because no one came? Or do you have the patience of a tortoise who is not dismayed at lasting toil, whose steadfastness and endurance enable him or her to keep plodding on until he or she and you attain the goal you have set out toward?

\Beauty and Favor/

Beauties of the season are upon us. This could be quite wonderful. 

There is an intellectual component, "a scientist with telescope pointing heavenwards." This could be study of any kind, some of it of the outward and visible, some of it within clairvoyant realms we contact in special states of consciousness. The three "wise men," let's remember, were astrologers (see the fine translation of the New English Bible's account in Matthew). There is "contemplation and philosophical musing" which takes one into communion with Nature, with pervasive peace and rest. Some experience this while gazing at a Christmas tree or manger scene. It is not superficial but leads one to sense that one, like Jesus, is "a favored child." 

A "poet, painter or musician" whose life is tenuous (like that of van Gogh) could be in your mind or you could experience some of his or her work appreciatively. It could be a good holiday-party time. According to a system I believe in, the last thirteen-but-one days of the year are ruled by the Hearts of the card-deck, beginning today with the King of Hearts, down to the Ace on December 30, and then the Fool or Joker on the 31st, before January 1st which is the King of Spades. (He says, "Get your act together," which we feel on New Year's.) Today, while Luna trines Venus in the evening amid Hearts, we could have a superb holiday adventure.

Your true place or location is in your mind, that is, somehow you know where it is. Travel may be in an armchair yet significant. Your true place may be right where you are, at least for now. 

As for difficulties, there could be an awareness of injustice in money matters, or exaggerated pricing, or plutocratic greed. We seem to be in a process of figuring out, globally, how to make capitalism consistent with generosity and fairness. It is taking a while. Miserliness can be transmuted into something more socially conscious---oh, it's the Scrooge season! Well, in Dickens's idealistic sensibility there was a happy ending. We can hope for that. Meanwhile most of us are leaning how to master some small details which yet add up to a significant domain and we have to imitate those who have been successful in order to "fake it and then make it." 

Someone of gigantic stature (physically or mentally) is vital and responsive so it could be good to be friendly with him or her. There are indications of beauty and refinement, the ornamental, maybe Christmas decorations. One is enamored of the opposite sex (or one's own if so inclined) in some significant manner.

Things are being defined and put in context, as with "a sextant and compass." Precision, plus exact principles by which to be guided, are success-inducing. Trading, exploration and navigation are possibilities, at least symbolically. At a deeper level nature's sublime mysteries may be unveiled. Someone who writes about the strange and the curious could aid you. (I am thinking of re-reading, even studying in detail, Leslie Kean's fantastic recent book Surviving Death, without a doubt the best single book to read on the topic of life after death in a secular context, for it is not religious but investigative in a careful, hard-headed manner, yet very positive in implying that we can be in touch sometimes with those who have passed on. It's the book skeptics on this topic should read, and all of us. Very powerful, with ten extra chapters written not by Leslie but by experts in the field, plus her own experiences and hypotheses.)

Change is not to be feared, for we seem on an upward course. Minor annoyances along the way will smooth out. Using symbols, we begin with the more conventional, such as "A chubby boy on a hobbyhorse." Whatever you are learning to do could begin with this more awkward phase when you are "riding" somewhat clumsily. It gets better so that eventually you develop fixed habits and are a benevolent citizen who owns "an apple tree whose boughs are bending with ripe fruit." (There are good, possibly lucrative, aspects to five planets in earth signs.)

"A parrot listening and then talking" could be some conventional people you have to deal with. Their imitative or unoriginal behavior could be an advantage because predictable. There is preparatory work to be done in accord with others, for "a party" is "entering a large canoe" and they have to do so with wise ordering. You can take care to get along with those with whom you have to "travel" or work, and bring connections and relationships to a point of effectiveness.

It is possible to be calm and thoughtful, genial and sunny. You may be yielding, when need be, but forces within you are irresistible when provoked, so your complacence is rock-like strength when under stress. There could be fortunate links with distant lands. "Men getting large granite stones out of a rock" means gaining wealth from ordinary things, by means which others consider beneath their notice. Business, buying, selling or investment could go well (at least until the v-of-c time begins).

"A bluebird standing at the door of the house" is good fortune. Still, it is necessary sometimes to lose, or spend, before gaining. One can be creatively alert to hopeful signs and portents. Then one is like "a ship in full sail," perhaps a merchant ship, and there could be happy motion toward varying gains or satisfactions.

"A woods rich in autumn coloring" is fulfillment, both through nature and through personal excellence plus its fruitage. One is avid for entering into kaleidoscopic patterns of personal relationship at each moment. This is self-discovery, "the human soul receptive to growth and understanding."

"A series of bubbles floating in the air" suggests superficial amusement, yet also "the light fantastic" or elasticity and expansiveness. The world is bright and sparkling, and displays hidden meanings in which one can delight. 

But further, there are more practical indications of patient and cautious advantages one already has or could gain. One could be reserved, steadfast and benevolent, quiet and successful within or about one's estate or headquarters, or a luxurious public setting.

Void-of-course periods have been frequent recently (12 hours today) and there is no reason to let them get one down. They might not be the best for final decisions about anything important, in fact I would discourage doing that at such times when possible. However, they can be fine for things like holiday planning, shopping, Christmas greetings, or anything relatively routine or simply enjoyable when nothing major is at stake. 

As for the symbols, let's proceed from the more sober to the more promising. First, there could be some pain in connection with what seems misplaced confidence or insecure affection. Is someone really hurting you, or are you imagining it? Maybe you have done something thoughtlessly to offend someone and don't realize it? Of course, worrying about that endlessly would make things worse, so you can be a nucleating influence in the whole situation by attending to your own business. Transient responsibilities are not horrible, and they prepare you for entering into personal relations on a more spiritual level.

A different level is the mental or intellectual, which looks promising. You may read a lot, or listen to speeches or podcasts. You admire someone with the gift of facile expression whether in politics or literature. This is more than superficial, because subtle wisdom is displayed by some with extraordinary ability. Some seem to be "uplifted beacons" while others rely on their knowledge and follow their leading light. 

Nature is not to be neglected, whether in the form of Christmas trees (I bow out from discussing their environmental impact, about which there is honest disagreement) or the landscapes around you whatever your climate or weather. The open country and beauties of nature are ours to behold and appreciate. We are susceptible to their elevating influence when in a patient, peaceful mood. At a more social level, there could be "a tankard set upon a table." This symbolizes the common, honest, sincere life of humanity as gathered round a table to enjoy a festive occasion. This is not drunkenness but amiable feelings eliciting glimmers of spiritual truth, the Christmas season at its best.

On what seems a difficult yet promising day, indications are contradictory. I will try to spell them out so you can select and interpret for yourself in your particular situation. 

What contention or strife is necessary, and what a mistake? You might ask yourself that. Illumination is available from multiple sources. Mars in good aspect with Neptune and Saturn suggests that, with learning and good information, one can find both ideal and real reconciliation or compromise in situations which looked at first like "two arrows crossed." 

We have two symbols which seem to fit together: "A very old man facing a vast dark space to the northeast," and "A woman the father of her own child."  Both connote loneliness or aloneness. The first suggests looking into the unknowable future past death, toward whatever is the Ultimate for the individual or for the universe. The second indicates "going it alone" even while raising a family. You have a sanction for "enlisting deeper and hidden elements of life" (Dr. Jones). The woman as the father of her own child shows that you can manifest "illimitable self-potentiality" while nucleating needed rebirth for others.

On the lighter side, we have "A man climbing a May-pole with a crown of flowers at the top." He wants to win the crown of popularity, Homecoming king or queen. "Love of approbation" is not always a bad thing if it promotes human interaction in fresh ways. "A wineglass overturned" shows what happens when the Homecoming queen or king lets passions run to excess (Mars trine Neptune and Jupiter trine Uranus). A convivial disposition is good provided it doesn't get carried away into incontinence, spoiling things.

You can review the preceding three scenarios and choose what fits your situation to get, let's hope, some enlightenment on what will make your day happier. In a sense, it seems the middle paragraph might be a cure for what could go wrong in the other two.

It might be good to calm down about holiday planning, or any other business, and take it slow and easy for a while during the v-of-c. Study, research, and tentative planning can be done successfully but usually not final implementation. 

"A man hesitating to trust himself on a wooden bridge over a chasm" might be you at some moments, when you doubt the safety of some things or plans, or even distrust good friends. Charubel implies that all the fear is unnecessary, though of course ordinary caution is wise. You have the ability to govern yourself both mentally and physically, and then some overtopping spiritual power may manifest through you. This could even be mastery of a high order.

Compromising, or even reversing course temporarily, could be one way of meeting the feeling of distrust, so that one is "displaying both a furled and an unfurled flag from one's vessel." This is not necessarily sneaky, but shows adaptability. Everyone has secrets of some sort, displayed only on rare occasions to rare individuals, or never at all. Still, what one shows outwardly can still be sincere, so that "a girl's face breaks into a smile." Someone is acquiescent toward you, because each is sharing with the other the essence of selfhood through smoothly conjured personality-magic. 

Signor Borelli, through Sepharial, says that diplomacy, law, and government are favored. Or this could be science, chemistry or literature. People are shining beacon-lights for one another. Even, one might aspire toward or partially achieve some phase of the Magnum Opus, the Great Work of the alchemists, carried on within one's heart and soul yet manifesting outwardly as health and longevity.

Heightened consciousness goes with the Full Moon. This can be either sublime or silly, depending on each individual. Some will be "distributing papers (opinions) among a multitude of people" in a superficial way, that is, e-papers or Twitter or Facebook messages or whatnot. Indeed much of the impeachment and defense-against-impeachment "papers" and opinions and comments seem superficial and futile, on both sides of the aisle. Are politicians really like "an ape seated before a mirror"? Each side will accuse the other of being that. Few can see both faces in the mirror at once. At a happier level, all this could be humor, political or otherwise, making fun of others and oneself lightheartedly yet still making a point for ears that hear. 

One might feel one is taking a chance with something. One is honorable and sensitive, but also a little impulsive. This can be worked out under the Full Moon's rays. Fortunately, one has boundless resources of vitality and can recover from any difficulty. With longevity, one can afford to take reasonable risks while avoiding unreasonable ones. 

As yesterday, we may feel like "children playing around five mounds of sand," naively happy with whatever we can do to amuse ourselves. Yet what looks like play has a deeper meaning on which we are reflecting consciously or subconsciously. Is magic play? More like work-play because it requires self-training. One has to be reverential, devotional, and secretive while gaining the "philosopher's stone" enabling one to work miracles. Others may see one as "a child at play."

With moon in Gemini opposite Mercury in Sagittarius, there is emphasis on the intellect, on sharp observation and also on well-designed or artistic construction. Architecture and engineering border, sometimes, on the fine arts. After the mind encompasses the universe, it somehow re-creates it. 

The large, great, and sublime are enormous presences we admire or even revere, and contemplating them can make us like them. We sense the antique as sacred. Then we feel impassive and undaunted against the contending forces of nature and humanity. We are like "a rocky eminence in the midst of a turbulent sea." Steady resistance and stolid self-reliance survive. 

There is a lighter side which seems almost contrary to the above. "Children playing around five mounds of sand" are dramatizing their psychological faculties, able to experience anything in any situation, "building" like the architect of paragraph 1 but in sand or the temporary delightful aspects of changing experience, with the naivete of youth. They are akin to the "man in a boat on a lake" watching them while he happily imbibes something Bacchus has provided. (This is appropriately expressive of Mars in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces, both water signs, exact today through Friday.)

Negotiations and transactions seem prominent. There is some doubt about giving and taking, buying and selling. Judgement is likely to be accurate for the most part, though there are warnings in the following symbols.

One "plows along" with one's chosen tasks and can be content doing them because, even when not exalting, still they are quietly fulfilling, more than neglecting them would be. There is the happy innocence of one's chosen participation in life, like "tiny children in sunbonnets."

"Telephone linemen at work" show that we are making connections and attachments in our business and in partnership arrangements. There is some warning that we could be careless, "three stained-glass windows, one damaged by bombardment." Mars was in that degree on 9/11/2001. (But there were countless other warnings on that day.) One might commemorate something or someone gone, or lost to the world on the outer plane, though ever-living in memory. 

There could be outward or implicit inward quarrelsomeness. People feel "nobody loves me" while Venus is close to Saturn. They could unconsciously take this out on you or someone else. Argument for the sake of argument goes nowhere. It is better to calm down, wait, and reason things out in your own way. Your mind is analytical and sound, able to draw wise conclusions regardless of feelings or any animosity you encounter or imagine.

If you are really worried about some course of action you might or might not take, it could be good to come to a decision, or a postponement, early in the day while the moon is applying to a trine with Venus, that is, before 8 a.m PT | 11 a.m. ET |  4 p.m. UT.
