Message for Week of April 15-21, 2017

Message for Week of Saturday April 15 through Friday April 21, 2017

^Reviewing, Resting, Perceiving, Rebuilding^

I am a very firm and convinced believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and the four Gospels which are, in my definite experience, the best way of understanding Him. I read one chapter of the 89 every morning. However, I do not keep mentioning my own path continually in these forecast-meditations because they are intended for anyone at all, Christian or Hindu, Jew or Muslim, atheist, agnostic or pagan. Astrology is a science which in essence is impersonal and not based on a particular religion, although it is "religious" in the best sense, because how could it be real at all unless G*d or a Higher Intelligence designed the whole scheme? "An undevout astrologer is mad," said Max Heindel, quoting a medieval proverb.

I cannot help being influenced by Good Friday every year, and I am writing this message on one of them. It is very sobering to consider the life and teaching of a man unjustly tortured to death. And it is very sobering to consider the thousands of political prisoners in the world today, and others unjustly imprisoned, which must add up to hundreds of thousands or maybe millions. Injustice and cruelty are what Good Friday is about, in my mind; although for the Christian it is also about G*d's way of dealing with such injustice and cruelty by means of His own sacrifice. We can only bow our heads.

Yet I continue with my attempt to outline as honestly as possible what I "see in the stars" for the coming week, dedicating that attempt to Him:

It is not an easy time. I discuss the Mercury Retrograde period in great profusion when it happens because it is so significant (April 9-May 3 this time). It is a time of review and also of revision. We see things about the past, and that determines our attitude toward the present and future. Someone yesterday sent me mementos of a period in my life decades ago. That is a symbol of what is going on. We also revise our attitudes about things, reviewing experiences and gaining wisdom in the process. Here is how that has been going on for Donald Trump according to the New York Times:

Mr. Trump’s about-face on NATO was only part of a day of flip flops at the White House. [Wednesday, April 12, while the moon was also in the Via Combusta, and of course Mercury Retrograde.] Within a matter of hours, the president determined that China is not a currency manipulator after all, embraced the Export-Import Bank that he once called unnecessary and suggested he might keep Janet Yellen, the Federal Reserve chairwoman he said he would replace after her term expired. Most striking, he pivoted 180 degrees on Russia, lashing it for supporting rogue nations after years of praising President Vladimir V. Putin.

And that was only the beginning of what the writer, Peter Baker, called Trump's amazing number of flip-flops during this Mercury retrograde period. Very instructive. This was the first Mercury Retrograde period of his presidency. We may not all go through such reversals of attitude or plan, although actually the apparent motion of Mercury, symbolizing the human mind, does reverse; but we at least review and reconsider.

It can be a good, healthy, and helpful process. If you find it confusing or upsetting, please consider the good it might do you in the long run.

Along with that goes Venus's very tight square with Saturn, which is, often bad feelings, or regrets, or worries, or a feeling that one is unappreciated or unloved. Such seems to be behind a lot of the horrid stuff going on internationally--military mistakes killing civilians or combatants on "our side," which of course ought not to happen; but Mercury retrograde plus Venus square Saturn could make any commander (a) confused because of contradictory information or input (MR) and (b) trigger-happy because feeling intensely the suffering of the war in one way or another (Venus-Saturn trouble, which afflicts males as much as females) and so subconsciously inclined toward revenge or cruelty .

Both of these indications of course continue through all this week, so we need to be calm and collected. There is nothing wrong with getting more rest during the MR cycle, or "flaking off" a little here and there, especially when the work planned seems especially pointless or going nowhere. We need time to let our more creative and imaginative, our freer and more spontaneous selves have their way. Then when we get back to needed tasks, we are refreshed and more efficient.

The better and happier side of things is the sextile between Mars and Venus. This goes on for a very long time--highly unusual--because of Venus's retrograde motion. It lasts by ten degrees for two whole months from April 5 through July 3! Meanwhile the Venus-Saturn square ends on May 9, so I might suggest that the long period May 10 through July 3 could be a good time during which to plan a vacation. Personally, I would be wary of the period June 5-24 when the sun is square Saturn, which leaves May 10 through June 4 as a possibly excellent 25-day period.

Mercury is with Uranus this week--flashes of amazing insight--and also trine Saturn--reliable thinking and study. I would just be slow to put any newly discovered plans or schemes into effect until after May 3, or May 20 to be even more cautious.

How the combination of the sweet Mars-Venus sextile with the Venus-Saturn square will work out is a very personal matter. It could be good relations with someone who at the same time bothers you in some basic way; or rediscovering the true-blue value of someone with whose faults you are acquainted, so that there is a springtime of renewed affection regardless of underlying problems. At best Venus-Saturn can be an awareness of the loved one's problems while still loving; or seeing how much she or he needs one's love. Then, at worst, it can be feeling how much oneself needs her or his love and feeling that that is not going to happen. But since the helpful sextile continues, there is room for finding at least friendship (and possibly more) in other new or old-new connections, even casual or surprising ones.
