The current Mercury Retrograde period (April 9 to May 3) was relatively easy at first, but now seems more difficult to navigate because Mercury has moved backward to within a conjunction of Uranus (mentally upsetting) and a septile with Neptune plus bi-septile with Pluto (complex and deep subconscious issues). We are feeling the "stickiness" of the period--"I want to do this, but have to do that; or I could do this or that and neither makes sense; or I could just go for a walk or drive and see what happens?" Sometimes the interior approach is best: Going within oneself; living within, spiritually. Sri Aurobindo tried to explain how to do this in the Synthesis of Yoga and the Life Divine. We will discuss more in the weekly report to be posted Friday afternoon-evening.

Friday: I need not remind you that serious and harsh things are happening: 18 men on "our" side killed by "our" forces in Syria; crises in diplomacy involving Putin, Assad, and the intertwining disputants in Syria and Afghanistan, where the largest bomb in the U. S. arsenal was detonated Thursday to obliterate an ISIS cave; the mysterious apparent suicide of a New York jurist, and more. One can feel this creepiness in the atmosphere, but we need to rise above it as much as we can. Speaking out against anyone is dangerous because of possible misunderstanding. Meanwhile on the bright side, discoveries are possible because of the Mercury aspects mentioned above, plus Mercury's trine with Saturn which lasts through the retrograde period and into the middle of May. This can result in good and testable ideas. 

As mentioned yesterday, strong spiritual energies are out and about, perhaps spirit guides (residing on the astral, or higher, planes of reality). If they inspire toward anger and contempt, they are dangerous and hurtful; if they inspire toward a high level of selfless compassion and kindness, they are progressive. There are social factors of hospitable and friendly sharing in a pleasant place, though muted by some depression or suspicion. If ideas that come to you are worthy, you are in possession of gifts from the Spirit which grant exaggerated self-confidence.

Secrecy, confidence, and sagacity could be yours ("an elephant"). You apply those to your work as well as to interactions with interesting, serious people. I wish I could say things are lighthearted. Rather, they seem to be bringing out your inherent merit through your relation to someone "higher" than you in a hierarchy of some invisible sort. This could be a strengthening benediction.

The Sabian symbol "Two men placed under arrest" is interesting. Could it be Assad and Putin? Could it be Stephen Bannon and H. R. McMaster? Or you and someone you know? It's a matter of seeing that there are consequences ("arrest" symbolically) of whatever we do if it is questionable. Being careful, and trusting the Highest to guide, are imperative. When there is a lighter mood, fostered by stationary Venus's loving sextile to Mars, somebody could be "a Spaniard serenading his senorita." What ho! Somebody maybe would like to hear of your everlasting devotion through reassuring blandishments.
