The professor questions everyone, even colleagues, and quibbles
And quarrels. He has specialized and knows his field but oversteps
His bounds to make others subservient. At last he is isolated,
With only his intelligence to guide him back to a safer port.
This mother suffers poverty, but not of spirit;
She does what she knows best for her children.
Her favorite boy seems bent on self-abandonment,
Refusing education, hopeless; she bears with him.
The knight knows his rights and those of his people.
He visits a sea-captain friend rocking retired in his chair,
Whose retrospect enriches the prospects of the younger strong
Man, whose hidden coat of arms grants prerogatives royal.
In fact education, learning, study seem themes of the day. There is strength in knowing what one can do and dropping what is pointless. People are set in hierarchies only for the sake of the daily world-order, but rise beyond them when they find themselves completely. Yet this does not reduce their responsibilities, though it makes them more congenial. There is no reason to shy away from a direct issue that has to be faced with someone, even if there are misunderstandings you can't totally correct. You are likely to feel your hidden strengths and sense how to take advantage of them.
