}Raw Courage Absolved{

The four stars have their caveat, namely, that we are still in the Mercury Retrograde period until October 25. But this should be the smoothest day of the weekend.

In reading news tonight, I feel "Deja Vu all over again" again and again! Another police brutality, in fact killing, incident; more about ISIS; more about Ebola; high school football hazing; and on and on; as if the human race remained in its infancy. It seems that while Mercury is retrograde we face things we need to face, things we have neglected. That is why the past takes such a large place in our thoughts, feelings and awareness. "Rehashing" goes on, and reliving, rethinking, repentance and sometimes remorse. That is all good and necessary, it appears, no matter how absurd it might look at times. Also, reliving old good things, old wonderful things, old essential things. I got tired of listening to current music and turned to Haydn a few days ago:  His complete symphonies, more than a hundred of them, going on for 36 hours and more, by Antal Dorati and the Hungarian Symphony (Philharmonia Hungarica)--on these albums you can listen to them from beginning to end and it is a wonderful experience for me. The classical harmonies and melodies and formalities come alive in this composer and these performances. This is real music. It is healing music and very welcome to me during this retrograde period.

The arrow in flight gets everyone's attention,
Even the dog attending the child attending the contest.
They examine the field of candidates. The puppy
Barks and wags his tail at the eventual winner.

Sober and plodding, of humble parentage, he's ignored by his peers.
But raw courage keeps him pressing ahead, and the sun
Above him becomes an inner star for the world. He's arrived.
The years of study and effort have made him essential.

Hooted by the crowd, derided by fanatics, taunted
By those he has taunted before, he leaves the stage,
Stumbles and falls. What he feels at the back of his head
And his neck is not good. He struggles toward something Absolvent.

~In Time~

The drummer is the metronome for the group.
The beat in his blood is the beat for the music.
The child who watches them practice through shades,
With his dog, dances, a new tyro critic.

The bridge has collapsed; the wind is a fury.
He wonders if this is the way. His clothes
Feel tattered, while the gale knocks his hat off.
Is obstinate pushing a virtue or vice? Is he foolish?

Somewhere ahead are a well-lighted house and rejoicing.
He set himself up for this journey; is belted, equipped.
He runs for his hat, pulled on tight, casting fear
Back where it fell. He'll be at that prosperous party.
