Forecast-Meditation for Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 October 2014

Tuesday 14 October 2014

Sun in Libra; Moon in Cancer; Foci in 9, Travel or Comprehension and 4, Home or Foundation

Moon on course   ****

Four stars, somewhat hypothetically, because while Mercury remains retrograde, with other issues, yet Venus is sextile Jupiter exactly. This cannot be bad.

Past Integrated with Present

An interesting phenomenon during the Mercury Retrograde period (to October 25) is the way our memories come back to us surprisingly. It has happened to me frequently. Suddenly I remember a face, a person, a look, an incident, from years ago--often in the middle of activities or thoughts which have nothing to do with that person or incident. This is not a sign of "dementia," or any other supposed neuro-mental "dis-ease," but a good sign that you are integrating your present with your past. That is, your subconscious awareness is trying to do that, offering up this brief memory so you can let something from the past into your current living to illumine it. No one can tell you exactly what it means. Pondering, somewhat passively, and being open to intuition, can do that.

We carry the past with us. That is not bad but good. It is a source of enrichment. Those who have had trauma in the past can find ways to get beyond it, not by refusing to remember it but by remembering something better along with it, something which transcends and redeems it. In extreme cases, this may be easier said than done. Those who work with PTSD patients have developed many therapeutic techniques for helping them. I would guess that such techniques are specially valuable during a Mercury Retrograde period (indeed, perhaps through the entire Dark Hermetic Epoch until November 10).

All feel they have "missed the boat" in one way or another, probably. It is not wrong to feel melancholy about this during a Dark Hermetic Epoch. Of course, it would be a mistake to dwell on one's deficiencies, errors, or "sins of omission" to the point where one becomes spiritless, depressed, or even suicidal. Yet this is what happens to many in the Dark Epoch and especially the Mercury Retrograde period. The answer has to be individual, so I don't think anyone could give a blanket cure for such issues. You might be happy to see where you have failed, so you can rectify that failure now and in the future. That is certainly one way to "redeem the time." Then what could have been despair becomes renewed hope.

~Destiny or Work?~

He had come to the West to pursue his dreams,
Working first in a laundry, then as a handyman,
Jack of all trades laboring hard in seclusion,
Delving into others' needs with total precision.

His brother had not fared as well, drifting and dreaming,
Lying asleep until noon, careless and gallingly obstinate.
Everyone else must be wrong, else he would have succeeded.
So he excuses his lack of native or cultured merit.

A hard journey needs hard preparation.
Adventure needs boldness and daring, inquisitive mind-set.
Pride well-founded brings firm regal ruling.
Rivals fall away from the man of destiny.

Sun in Libra; Moon in Cancer; Foci in 10, Profession or Honor and 3, Communication or Neighbors   ****

The white coat he wears betokens his peculiar profession,
A seeker for knowledge in the lab he has structured
To facilitate the quest. But his methods are outre,
Not sanctioned by peers; his conclusions nearly insane.

The immigrant wonders if he has made the right choice,
Or abandoned his true home. Will this transplant grow?
He seems in a desert, bereft of friends, moving toward
Wooded hills to take his lonely stand, reconnoiter.

The river is dry, the bridge across it broken.
The rabbi pursuing his vocation hesitates.
Does it make sense to go on? Ah, the wilderness!
Better men and holy have confronted it!
