Message from Mars

I am moving backward, from your perspective. Some things are on hold. That might include travel plans and associations with neighbors. I am in the sign Libra, Venus's domain. I am not enfeebled but I need support from companions more than usual. Women may like my seeming feebleness because it makes me more human and vulnerable. I am forming a trine or happy association with Venus and so there are potentials of happy love life, within limits (Venus has something to say about that in her Message.) I move backward toward an opposition with the sun and Uranus in Aries, my own sign, so I seem divided against myself. Military matters are poorly designed and executed. They play into the hands of the most powerful (Pluto in Capricorn), as usual. Human costs and labors weigh most heavily on the young, of course. 

I move from place to place, a wanderer. I make discoveries which no one writes down--if I did I might become famous as an author. I am gifted, my gifts dropped carelessly. I am a chemist; I study what I eat and drink and experiment with formulae; I choose supplements or pills. I research deeper mysteries and utter them  uheeded. Sometimes I express my fervor in a song or a cheer. My self-affirmation wins allegiance from some, even when I seem inept.

Message from Sol

Things are not easy. I join Uranus, so you want to be independent and free. I square Jupiter and Pluto, so you fight conventional forces which seem to hold you back or force you to overcome obstacles. Doing that promotes your growth, and so there is no cruelty in your Solar System--just a design to make you more and more competent through training. 

Those who have lost their way can find it again. That is not an empty promise. Those at a juncture with four roads going on four directions do not have to despair--they can choose the right one. You can stand secure in what you have gained, even if it seem threatened by loss. Your pride could become arrogance, or else a justified pride in what you are accomplishing. When you reach a pinnacle of success, you know you have earned it, and fold your arms, looking about you confidently. You may feel you want to do without assistance, but we all need it. In fact, dependence on the Highest is built into our blood and bones (and the equivalent of those even in a god). You have acute insight into potentials, for yourself and others, and so can choose the best accurately at every moment. 

Message from Venus

I would not deny that my behavior this week is hard to comprehend. (Or is it always that way with me?) I am not happy because I am squaring Saturn. I am happy because I am trining Mars. I want to come out in the forefront, yet I lurk in the background. Love undergoes tests--"reality" defeats rosy illusions and the loved one appears less interested than he or she really is. Or is her or his interest in you "really" an illusion? I am wondering too.

I wouldn't take it hard, though. People are scared. Maybe it's their job, maybe the stock market, maybe something else which seems to threaten their security. So they seem not to trust you as much, either, because their world seems shaken. Yet backward-looking Mars may just fall into my arms, poor dear, because he seems to have no other option. I don't despise him, I love him, even his weakness. But he can't quite believe that I do. He would like to spend more on me, but feels he cannot. Instead he spends a lot of time at home brooding. So do I. My advice: Don't give up on career plans, or a project you want to carry out, just because of doubtful moods about security or love. I am not going away. I am a part of you.

And I am beautiful! You will see and be close to excruciatingly beautiful individuals of both sexes. Soul-beauty is not to be sneezed at either. Sometimes physical beauty brings out too much ardor, amounting to force or violence. Sadism as a dark side of love is likely to turn up here and there (the square with Saturn accents it, as well as my septile with Uranus). We must not allow this to become real brutality or cruelty. Play is the better way. Puppies or kids wrestling do not hurt each other even though pretending to do so. Real refinement in love is not afraid of play. You may find any version of love in the most unexpected places. This is more likely during the times Cosmic Piper has marked with three or more stars (***). 

Message from Mercury

As Cosmic Piper has affirmed repeatedly, we are in the Bright Hermetic Epoch, and that is good. (Only he of all astrologers has discovered the secret of my lightning-quick winged sandals and my journies to the Underworld.) It lasts until May 23. I am in a trine with my Lord Jupiter this week, we are on good terms, and so you can settle good healthy plans in your mind. You are interested, among other things, in some colorful individuals who fascinate you. I am too. They are mysterious yet basically friendly. Life is ensconced in youth and curiosity. Some of the peculiar deceptiveness or unbelievability of interesting people's behavior last week may be diminishing, or you have a handle on it at least. 

Some feel they have a mission to accomplish, with power and authority. Their strength does not need to veer into violence. (Some may feel they are at last ready to give up smoking or a drink or drug habit.) They can be direct, aggressive and headstrong. This has its problems, but they could persist through all obscurities without vacillation and arrive at their chosen destination. Although Mars is languishing, this is a more mental sort of quasi-military or determined adventure, with preciseness and drilled readiness.

Message from Luna

I am giving you a lot of mental acuteness and sharpness this week. You will see into people. Their motives, hopes and underlying desires can come clear to you. This can be specially true of your partner or anyone you care about deeply. I will also help you put order into career, study, and household situations--things which have been tangled or confusing for weeks will become crystal clear.  

When you can't get out of some situation, you can make the best of it. That is the art of life. We don't begin over from the beginning every day. But you can be precise and efficient in everything you do. That changes drudgery into adventure. Your mind is keen, incisive and direct. You may travel more than usual, or consider travel for later. You could be illumined by truths which grant you power and authority to do what is right. 

Message from Saturn

I am wanting you to organize your place better. Whatever is messy there is impeding your life and consciousness. This could apply to your job area also. Rather than sitting and moaning about things and people that trouble you, you can put order into material things and you will feel much better. 

As for those difficult love-tangles, which too often seem non-love-tangles or some version of emotional craziness, you do need to be patient with them. People may not be prompt in repaying your kindnesses, for example, and you feel cheated. They are feeling their own worries and don't even realize they have been unkind to you, most likely. True, people can be callous and unfeeling, in appearance. If you study them you will learn a lot--this would be interesting and would give you an edge or advantage in relating to them. Hard or seemingly impossible communication could be a key to getting past hard feelings. Of course you don't want to be harsh, but as kindly and understanding as humanly possible. This is not easy but is attainable, so you ought not to give yourself excuses for not trying. 

Some form of study in connection with your work is important. You may feel you would rather be doing something else, but it will clear away worries by making you feel more competent and therefore more contented. 

Dissipation and waste of resources is of course a mistake; you need to watch that. People seem to gnaw away at what you have. Some form of speculation in investment might not be bad if you are very careful. If it's too easy it could be costly. Investigation and research are recommended. 

The soul's poetry and music is amazing, lifting ordinary things into the extraordinary. You can make continuous transitions from the drab and boring to the dynamic and creative through imaginative resources. This is ultimately a process of spiritual understanding and evolution. I, Saturn, recommend it becuase it makes the hard stuff I have to put in your path so much more livable.

Message from Jupiter

I am holding the reins of the other planets in a bucket-shaped configuration. I am paternally controlling. I do not mean any harm; only the best; but you may not discern the method of my kindness. This week I am combining work with play and study with communication. Business is business and needs to be taken care of. Mercury is working well with me, so you can know what to do and how to do it to protect yourself from loss and keep the momentum of good fortune. Fateful but needed communication with those (especially males) who seem to be going backward in their progress through life is part of the program. It is not impossible, even if sidewise.

There is a lot of gloom and meloncholy. This is good for you! Try to understand that. It is deepening your soul. It helps you to care, really, about other people and their sufferings. I have to agree with Saturn that sometimes suffering is the only way people can find their souls. We wish it were otherwise. We do not want it to veer off stupidly, helter-skelter, in violence. If people would face the suffering in themselves and others honestly, and pray for guidance and upliftment so they can live through it, they would not be tempted toward deeds of violence. Strong feelings are good; movies and novels are all about them; but need to be taken philosophically rather than allowed to precipitate tragedy. A subconscious desire for tragedy needs to be eliminated from human consciousness. (That sentence says a lot more than you may realize at first.) 

To be godlike is not to be loftily superior as much as to be willing to serve your community and the individuals who make it up. No matter what the difficulties, it is the path that will make you happy, if you don't forget Me--as a (no doubt inferior) representative of Deity. Or rather, keep in mind whatever high Deity you are capable of comprehending. We are with you and your community, not against--if you get to know Us. We are One.

We will attempt to have a weekly forecast up here by Friday, covering Saturday March 29 through Friday April 4. The Saturday through Friday period has been revealed to me, without any doubt, as the real astrological week, not Sunday through Saturday nor Monday through Sunday. So that is the way we will do it. 

The complex psychological-spiritual indications and signals in which I have specialized for many years will be in several paragraphs covering the whole week. I think this will help us to focus on what they really mean, at least those of us who return to consider them several times during the week.

Then, in place of the previous complex daily forecasts there will be the above system of indications including the one-to-five star system. I hope that those ratings will help you choose days for special events or for being more direct and assertive or for having meetings or interviews or parties or making important choices. There may be very few four or five star days but I will be glad to indicate them whenever possible. I am taking a risk with four stars for Friday, for the Venus square Saturn aspect remains with us--but other favorable indications could prevail, so I went with four stars for encouragement. Of course each of us is responsible for keeping his or her consciousness "up" and open to the highest vibrations and possibilities.

The forecast for Tuesday March 18 contains long-term information you might re-read. Pay especial attention to the Venus square Saturn aspect now going on--it can be depressing. It's a feeling of "nobody loves me" and we need to realize that that is not true. The trine of Venus and Mars should help--we need to believe in it! People are more kindly and loving than we give them credit for and their apparent indifference may be because they are feeling the Saturn-Venus square as depression, just as you are. Yet something in them believes in love and that can be awakened in oneself first, then in them.

We may be moving to a weekly rather than daily forecast, based on thousands of hours of research I have conducted for many years. I feel I have a weekly method which is reliable. But I will include in the weekly forecast the same lunar and other major phenomena for each day which I have provided in the daily forecasts for years.

Those stranded re-begin. There is tact, an ability to detect what is valuable in people and situations, appreciate it, and let it be. 

Frontiers are emerging. You are original in a strong part of yourself and feel like setting out for "elsewhere." Yet you recognize that there is important work to do at headquarters, and can contend against obstacles successfully.

Frustrations or confusions are material more than spiritual; the higher part of yourself is all sunshine. There could be joy in spring weather, fun being out and about, dalliance through pleasures with a mental-spiritual caste (Mercury conjoined to Neptune). 

Rashness could be a mistake, if you get ahead of yourself and challenge someone without being sure of your ground. Yet youth and gaiety should prevail, with the moon in favorable aspect to both Venus and Mars which are now by ten degrees forming a trine. At the same time Venus is moving to a square with Saturn. We have discussed this contradictory situation. It is love, but love with a concerned, caring, sensitive side--love under test or trial, until early April. 

There is much inspiration. You ponder what has seemed an end and see that it is a fresh beginning.

*New Normality Gets a Foothold*

When the moon enters Sagittarius (above) we may be feeling at last that we are really in a fresh Bright Hermetic Epoch (March 19 through May 22) and a new astrological year (the Vernal Equinox was Thursday), although still in the |difficult third| of this week until Saturday morning. At least the nice lunar aspects of a sextile with Venus and trine with the sun and Uranus are helpful to moods more than Thursday's dourness. Plans can be made with confidence.

Interdependence requires tact in dealing with people. All remain edgy, with 8 planets at critical degrees, including Mars, Saturn and Uranus which have been at such degrees for weeks and shall continue until the 26th. The good side: The critical degrees bring out decisiveness. That is accentuated today. The slowness of many things remains, yet one can choose more easily what to get moving--which aspect of one's endeavors to prod forward. 

Normal self-restraint is helpful. We cut out our way in life through labor, which requires restraining pointless amusements or dalliances.

"Trials are proofs of God's care" said Mary Baker Eddy, or in other words they show that He is helping us grow through challenges we meet. Then there is glory. 

That could include artistry, music, the sublime. Some individuals are fickle and changeable, so you can be prepared to move on from one companion to another.

The sciences or mathematics or some special study you favor could go well and you have a tendency toward it whether or not it has "practical" value. 

Yet there could be prosperity or the promise of it. Things are improving, in general, for everyone. The ways toward gain are becoming more evident and easier to detect and follow.

Because of the |difficult third|, signified by the moon's conjunction with Saturn in Scorpio all day and especially in the evening, neither the Vernal Equinox nor the Bright Hermetic Epoch's beginning may seem cause for celebration. However, at a deeper level all the questions of your life are getting more reliable answers, if you can tune in to that level. Friday and especially Saturday should be better outwardly, more hopeful and dynamic.

Things which seem to collapse are things you no longer need in the way that you thought you needed them. You may find a different way of "needing" and using them which evokes their true utility and value.

There is strength from the vernal equinox, and passion, though it may feel somewhat morose. Vacillation can be a problem. If you go deeply into yourself to decide what is most important in the long term, that also can be what you make most important today.

I hope you will re-read yesterday's forecast, or read it for the first time if you missed it, because it gives major clues about the next few weeks and the past few weeks. It is worth thinking about a lot and remembering, to help you navigate. 

The Via Combusta plus the |difficult third| mark Wednesday as tough, yet there is a grand trine with the moon, Jupiter, and Mercury-Neptune--in water signs, good for sympathies and harmonies among people and for feeling what others are feeling and sharing moods, worries and hopes sensitively. Whatever their or your troubles, divvying them up peaceably makes them easier.

The harassment of details--of little things (and I mean very little, often, the missing nail in the horseshoe that loses the war) going wrong or backward and being annoying or upsetting or just in the way--continues until the Bright Hermetic Epoch begins tomorrow (Thursday), especially because of the already-mentioned lunar indications.

Yet there can be vigilance, alertness, and assertiveness. The past five to six weeks have shown you what can go wrong, and you are determined to prevent that from recurring, so you are armed and prepared for things, perhaps better than in a long while. Tomorrow's Bright Hermetic Epoch, starting then and lasting until May 23, starts on a difficult day when the moon will conjoin Saturn in Scorpio, but you can be ready for that, in a serious mood which wants to organize your future wisely. Today will have hopeful moments when you feel you are on top of what is coming, sensing its value and how to be poised and positioned to meet it successfully.

}Some Long-Term Clues{

Most people have a hard time believing that nearly half the time we are in a Dark Hermetic Epoch. I try to explain that "dark" is not "bad" any more than "night" is "bad." Yet at times it seems very trying. Astrologers often remark that the flavor of a Mercury Retrograde period (which Cosmic Piper has expanded by necessity into the Dark Epoch) is determined largely by Mercury's aspects while it is nearly stationary or moving backward. This time, its major aspect was its square with Saturn--believe it or not, from February 9 through March 19 (tomorrow, though other issues may extend worries until Friday). Of this Grant Lewi says: "You are liable to fits of depression, for your deep and subtle mind feels the woes of the world, and your own woes, very keenly. You are sensitive in a peculiarly brooding sort of way, not striking back when hurt, but nursing your grief and feeling sorry for yourself." I certainly recognize this in myself during the past five weeks. And I certainly hope that we will be feeling relief, as we ought to, because the very day after this aspect ends the Dark Hermetic Epoch also ends and a Bright Epoch begins (on the 20th, Thursday).

A good side of the Mercury-Saturn square is mental work, and I mean work, getting down to details in something you study or map out or make secure for yourself in your mind. I have been doing a lot of that in more than one area. But it has not always been fun and there has been that "brooding" quality to the work--because one wants so badly to get it right and feels that one may be falling short.

Then, as if by sweet agreement among the planets, Venus begins a trine with Mars on Saturday the 22nd. This lasts only through April 4, shorter than most such periods, because Mars is retrograde, pulling out of the aspect more quickly. Since Venus is moving ahead and Mars backward, a line from an old song comes to mind, "A man chases a girl until she catches him." 

However--this is rather sad--Venus will also be square Saturn during the same period, beginning on the 20th through April 6. I will set the challenge this way: If you can work with the trine, you will have some happy love life going on, romance or friendship; but there will be hard moments and you will need to be very patient with the object of your affection. The Venus-Saturn square is a "test of love" always. This can be good if it solidifies a long-term relationship, and it could this time because of the Venus-Mars trine going on concurrently. I hope that these clues will help you. 

Tuesday could be restless because of the Via Combusta and the moon's conjunction with a retrograde Mars. Other factors suggest a love of something or someone unusual (Venus sextile Uranus). This could attract rummy love relationships, even if fleeting, not far from home and work. You want to break out from restraints though the way to this may not be clear. You could vacillate, or else be adept at arranging pairs of opposites. Health and well-being need to be priorities.

The best opportunity may be to continue with some kind of intellectual or mental preoccupation you have cared about. Mercury trine Mars helps enormously with that. You can get it right.

People want to be converted from something pointless to something real. Someone they like helps them.

Those who pander to the public's taste may wonder why this is unfulfilling. Something older and more classic may be better.

You could find your own invisible spiritual path, which involves sadhana or discipline, and find that it gives you relief from the world's oppression and your worries.

We are thinking of things from a high level and that may prevent us from getting into immediate realities, yet we can see the patterns of events from above and so gain perspective. That can happen even if we feel stranded or held back by circumstances.

Your acumen allows you to see into things from an occult perspective, getting insights denied to those who cannot believe in the invisible and its guidance.

Cutting your way through life involves labor and determination. 

Youthful artistry and music uplift you.

Being brave and dauntless insures security.

People are being converted from the narrowness of their paths to the truth of their paths. This entails seeing that what you had thought the path was is not a full conception of the path.

People drift along the roads which have been good to them in the past, not caring to see if their particular road will still lead to what they need in the future.

Who carries the standard you can rally around with others? 

Being up in the clouds to get the lay of the land is a good thing. You see that many are stranded, delayed, held up or held back.

You can dream of invisible beings, and get an outlook into hidden potencies.

Labor is needed to get obstacles out of the way and make them useful rather than hindrances. 

Unswerving faith is required for any lasting victory.

Music is a gift of the gods, lifting moods, uniting humanity, making us younger.

People want to awaken one another. This could be harsh and incisive. But let's not let it be nasty.

Service may seem like slavery sometimes, but it leads to escape from drudgery; in fact, if we had no one to serve we would probably be miserable. There is a desire for freedom yet a recognition of limits, especially perhaps at home or headquarters.

A spiritual or philosophic group could be good for you. You value its leader. He or she has set up something which just keeps on producing goodness for people.

Warning: You could fall literally or figuratively because you attempt something either beyond your powers or beyond the reality of the situation. It is well to be humble and careful.

You can reflect on all the details of life in order to be able to adjust to them and meet possible crises without harm. As for delays, they remain part of the picture but if you learn what you can while they hold you up you will do what is possible and best.

There can be audacity and carefree assurance. You sense how to do things you have never done and could succeed freely, spontaneously and admirably. (But remember paragraph 3's warning. Combining these two admonitions may seem difficult but can be done.)

Hard labor at simple tasks requiring strength, patience and coordination will benefit you. There is also music, either while you work or when you relax, and youthful artistry.

Magnetic or spiritual healing is possible. How many ills and trouble and emotional sufferings have been removed by those who are consciously or unconsciously spiritual healers and get no credit for what they do? Yet they have a secure reward by laws of karma, and deep peace of soul.

Reflecting on one's plans and hopes calmly, without hurry or distress, can bring wonderful expansion of insight and relieve worry.

People are vulnerable. Things you wanted to develop do not seem to have reached maturity nor is there any assurance that they shall. Being a beneficiary to others is perhaps the best one can desire.

We observe things from a high level but are not sure that our observation can produce any lasting effect or change them. There are obstacles and delays, in spades. Yet there are delights one can share with some few individuals at appropriate times.

The Part of Fortune in the 5th, yesterday and today, accents youthful amusements and fun. This may have been hard to fit into your working schedule but most did that one way or another--by hook or by crook--yesterday, and probably today also. 

Yet the helpful trine of the sun with Saturn brings out a determination to be practical, realistic, and firm to commitments. Combining that with the prior paragraph's indications is an interesting trick, an assignment of the day.

Separations are often felt when the moon opposes Venus, accented also by the beginning of the |difficult third| of this week. At worst one could ricochet from one desperate maneuver to another, hoping for quick fulfillment and postponing difficult issues. 

There could be lack of discretion and even disgrace. One could be impulsive and headstrong (Jupiter square Uranus and opposed to Pluto). You have been doing something with your mind which looks heroic, achieving something through study or careful thought and analysis (Mercury still square Saturn). That is all to the good and keeping on with it is a good use of Mercury's gathering momentum, although since we remain in the Dark Hermetic Epoch until the 20th, there remains some uncertainty about some of your conclusions. You have been able to see a lot through difficult mental work but may not have the whole picture yet. 

Reflecting on everything coolly is recommended in order to avoid falling a victim to your vulnerable feelings. A "cut and run" tendency is dangerous--you do not want to do that to a friend, so hold back. Sudden explosive feelings could damage a friendship or relationship. This need not happen. 

There is prematurity in some things and it is hard to take the slowness with which they improve, yet if you keep believing in the improvement you will be promoting it rather than throwing it overboard. You can be charitable toward those who need assistance, patient and strong. This is being a real man or woman. Then there will be some easy delights of life to make everything easier, because you will have earned them.
