"A broken tree struck by a lightning flash" symbolizes projects which were mostly abortive, or ambitions falling short of accomplishment. 'A woman disappointed and disillusioned" is going through a Stoic phase. One disappointment clears the way for a further adventure when hope returns.
At the other, manic extreme, some might present the visage of "a face painted with grotesque scrolls, and surrounded by a tangled mass of hair." There could be eccentricity or grotesqueness, but also genius. An artist's atelier looks like a mess but is fostering creativity.
"A very small unpretentious window in the wall of a massive tower" denotes one who is "independent of external aids, ever happy among the offspring of his own genius. Such persons never seek display and are creators, not imitators."
