Challenge:  Sincerity, hopefulness, and honorability are excellent traits but there are times when they seem to get no reward or even to incur misfortune, as 'a young laurel tree broken by the wind and withered.'  But self-restraint and contentment get one through such a period and one can recover.  "Happy is the man who does not take the wicked for his guide, for whom the law of the Lord is his delight . . .  He is like a tree which yields its fruit in season, and its leaf never withers." --Psalm 1  There could be a trend toward independence and daring:  'A horseman armed moves across a desert toward some woody hills.'  He can 'carry out designs conceived by himself without the aid or companionship of others.'  Somewhat estranged, taciturn and self-contained, he 'will make his mark in some field requiring independence of spirit, courage and perseverance.'  

Process:  Venus trine Jupiter is excellent, and with Venus and Mercury also square Neptune, there could be somewhat deceptive seduction or persuasion.  'A wolf follows a sheep along a secluded pathway.'  This would fit also with Mars approaching opposition with Pluto, sometimes forcefulness or even brutality in erotic matters.  For most this will probably work out as harmless flirtation, whether one identifies oneself as the wolf or the sheep.  On the positive side, Venus trine  Jupiter, with the help of Luna in Pisces, can be nobility, 'a very lofty pine tree,' 'one with grand aspirations whose good influence will be felt beyond the limits of his own neighborhood.  His deeds will speak louder than words.'   

Blessing:  It seems that studies and training, or self-training, have built up abilities making you ready for wise decisions.  'A dark shadow or mantle thrown suddenly over the right shoulder' is your capacity of leadership coming to the fore.  Your genius has become manifest in a responsible manner.  Your destiny is something remarkable whether noted ('dark') by others or not.  Venus trine Jupiter, one of the finest aspects (the two benefics), could come out as 'bathing beauties.'  Everyone's natural endowments are expressed and prized freely.  'A person becomes himself as he stands radiant and reliant among others' (Dr. Jones).  Vanity is possible but also 'familiar desires and interests' manifested worthily.  Each is proud to display his or her bodily personality.

Challenge:  It might be actually easier to remember the war dead, the heroes who have sacrificed their lives, this year because of the |sobering, challenging| third of the week, which makes us somber and serious.  I hope all will honor and pray for them.  Today, people may seem peculiar, with defects which have impeded their development becoming all too obvious.  They may seem duplicitous and shrewd.  Some may seem like 'a man declared bankrupt' or destitute of good sense, leaning too much on others for support.  Our minds are struggling to see the light, to find Truth, with Mercury square Neptune.  The human spirit is individually eternal and so can be delivered from errors and bad consequences if trying to be responsible.

Process:  Motion, travel, and choice may be better than in the previous two days of this holiday weekend.  Luna trine both Mercury and Venus, increasing into the evening, could bring some happiness to 'a woman and two men on a bit of sunlit land facing south.'  There could be the inception of a basic allegiance which organizes the self's potentials, mysterious as it may seem.  Shared pleasures may be more readily available than on Saturday and Sunday while 'a group of vagrants or gypsies are seated round a cauldron in which food is preparing.'  Wandering means leaving one opportunity behind for the sake of another, continually.

Blessing:  No matter where we go, our home or estate remains our basis, and it could be, at least symbolically, 'a large and well cultivated tract of land.'  More fruitfulness of land, family or friends is available than we realize in doubtful moments.  There can be broadness and geniality.  When we ponder the coming week, we see 'a new path of realism in experience' opening before us.  We identify which dreams of grandeur or wealth need to be back-burnered and which are realizable now, and so are ready.

}Reorientation as Reform and Refreshment{

It's the Memorial Day weekend and the Grinch is after it.  (|Difficult third of the week| this time.)  Let's try to have a good time somehow anyway.

Rather than go into the symbols for Sunday, which is time-consuming on my end, here is what I posted on Thursday about the current Dark Hermetic Epoch (May 15-July 7), and more:

Dark does not mean bad.  It means, like night-time, good or bad things happen, but in a different way.  You can have ecstatic experiences at night, and fantastic dreams, and entertainment and parties.  Is all that unreal?  Maybe, in a sense, but it is actually as real as the daytime stuff when you have to be more sober and careful.

Not saying you should not be careful during this DHE!  Just do it in a different way, making allowance for fresh viewpoints, insights, experiences.

The November 3 election happened during a DHE.  It was a helluva mess.  And now the serious efforts to do a forensic audit of that election are happening in Arizona, Georgia, and possibly in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin and maybe elsewhere.  A DHE is a "study the past" period, a "review" period, among other things.  "Get to the bottom of this" is what people say, and that involved investigating "what really happened."  It's happening big-time in connection with the Wuhan lab and the start of the Coronavirus, with strong evidence emerging that it was a weaponized virus which escaped from the lab.  This is scary serious stuff, "Dark" in a way but it is necessary to look at it, just as it might pay to study a nightmare warning of serious consequences if you don't change your ways.  

The other side of Dark is, as just mentioned, "Turn on the lights and get out the drinks and have a party."  Well, I am not preaching to you or myself about that; we are adults.  

A third side of the Dark Epoch is meditation and prayer, which goes on a lot in the dark hours.  The mind longs for Super-Mind.  And getting the lower mind out of the way, or using it in a different way as in chanting Divine Names, allows those Super-Mind or mystical, ineffable realizations to happen. 

Here's what I wrote Thursday:

We are definitely in the Dark or Slow or Confusing or Meandering or Interior Hermetic Epoch.  These periods were discovered by yours truly in 1977-1978 and verified and improved in technique over the decades.  People are going nuts, is one way to put it, in the Dark Epoch until July 7.  It's beginning.  You may note 'little things' going wrong, you may note yourself or others forgetting things or making wild or strange comments or going off on tangents or 'whatever.' In fact, 'whatever' is a good term for what happens during these times.  'Didn't see that one coming' is another expression for it.  

I have pointed out that it began on May 15 but it seems to get 'worse' or more dense as time goes on before Mercury turns retrograde on Saturday the 29th, then at its 'worst' or 'densest' until June 22 when Mercury turns direct, then perhaps gradually diminishing or getting easier until the new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins on July 7.  

The good things about it are:  Increased spiritual consciousness, if one is at all open to that, which can mean intense dreams or 'psychic' experiences.  There is healthy recollection of past events, which is not senility or 'losing it' but intelligent learning from those past events and what they mean to you.  It's like the grub or worm going into its chrysalis stage.  For humans, this 'chrysalis stage' involves musing on the past and learning from it.  Whom did you hurt? Whom did you offend?  And what beautiful experiences did you have which are part of your memory-treasure?  All this can come flooding in, or gently percolate, and that can be healthy especially if one knows what is going on and works with it rather than resisting it.  

Ordinary endeavor and scheduling, of course, has to continue, but it might continue more helpfully in a somewhat altered form, or you might 'play it by ear' as you go, changing daily schedules or routines as needed when 'things' seem to be transmuting or transmogrifying.  This can be good rather than annoying.  If it seems annoying perhaps we need to adjust our attitudes toward it.  The cosmos is always trying to teach us something. It is not punishing us but nudging us to understand. 

And, let's not forget the original meaning of Memorial Day as a time to remember and honor military persons who have given their lives or their time and energy and sometimes their health for the sake of the nation.  One might not approve of all the wars one's nation has engaged in, but these men and women did what was asked of them and often payed severe penalties.  Let us honor them in our minds and pray for them wherever they may be in the ever-circling, ever-cycling universe of humanity.

Challenge:  We can't let the Grinch steal the Memorial Day weekend, but he'll probably try.  The Difficult Third (moon conjunct Saturn this time) covers all but the earlier hours of Saturday (above).  The long-lasting, pandemic-related square between Uranus and Saturn is increasing again while Saturn goes backward (apparently).  It is in Aquarius, its own sign, and Aquarius rules the circulatory system, hence the conflict and disagreement about vaccines.  I shall refrain from stating my position here because I want people on both sides of most political issues to profit by these reports rather than feel repelled by someone else's opinion.  'In a market place, several young men are in dispute, asserting their opinions by the free use of cudgels' is the way Signor Borelli puts it.  This can be Luna's opposition with Mars, while conjoining Pluto.  People feel they want to escape from one complex of experience into another and so resent anyone who prevents that or challenges it.  'A quiver filled with arrows' is not violent but is merely preparation for whatever may happen, because one is 'alert to the interests and needs of selfhood.'  

Process:  'A meeting of a literary society' is a more refined and elegant manifestation of the 'young men asserting their opinions with cudgels' syndrome.  Criticism, whether literary, political, or ethical, is needed in one form or another.  It can be 'a rigorous revaluation of private acts and attitudes' when one is brought up short by recognizing embarrassing facets of oneself in a fictional character.  That is all to the good, made easier by the fact that it is also entertainment.  It might lead to 'winter frost in the woods,' or a perception that something has outlived its usefulness (the flora and fauna of one season).  Yet this suspension is a sort of splendor, a 'creative transformation by which older cycles give place to newer ones.'  Such reorientation gets a healthy even if discomforting stimulus. 

Blessing:  That reorientation stems from high aspiration.  Capricorn is the sign of mountains and we have 'a man standing on a mountain with a staff in his hand, the setting sun showing his figure in relief.'  'His use of natural powers' includes surmounting dangers by prowess, according to Sepharial.  "He will eventually triumph over obstacles and terminate things extremely well.'  At the other, more comfortable end of life we have 'a spacious room filled with expensive furniture, among which are several mirrors.'  Charubel says this shows conformity to fashion, self-aggrandizement, plus artistic accomplishments and love for the fine arts.  Beauty surrounds us.

Moon in Capricorn

Challenge:  Moon opposite Mars while the latter opposes Pluto could make for 'a house on fire at nighttime' or a house divided which becomes incendiary, whether in politics or personal family situations.  Charubel warns of a 'fretful and peevish'' individual who is 'highly superficial, creating miserey wherever he or she may reside,' symbolized by 'toys or common ornaments of glass and tinsel.'   Once when a planet was at this degree in fact a peevish, superficial person injured me physically.  (I recovered.)  One might however push ahead with wise business or financial details, if one is patient and not jumping into anything new (the DHE, discussed yesterday, is not good for that).  

Process:  Perhaps the above, plus the squares of Venus and Mercury with Neptune (possibly laziness) could amount to 'an industrial strike' or a protest against working conditions or compensation.  One has to act in one's own interest to get the creative outlet one needs.  Further, one could perhaps ride in or juggle with 'a balloon,' that is, perform remarkable feats whether compensated or not.  

Blessing:  Signor Borelli gives us 'a book lying open upon a table, beside it a burning lamp' and Sepharial says this shows exceptional mental powers, a consciousness stored with ancient learning, a retiring nature 'whose greatest happiness and whole wealth will be in the conquests of the mind.'  Or if that does not suffice, one could be 'a woman awaiting a sailboat,' demonstrating 'the creative poise and quiet range of perspective which gives real power to the human soul' (Dr. Jones).  Equanimity allows one to 'exalt one's destiny while aware of the ships that may come in for one.'  Mars trine Neptune and Jupiter quintile Uranus show that the current drift of circumstances could be fortuitous.

Challenge (for Thursday):  I have found over the decades that the degree-symbols for each day are always meaningful, even if one has to think twice or thrice about them to see what they mean.  (And the symbols for 9/11/2001 were startlingly, brilliantly accurate, as were the ones for the Fatima miracle on October 13, 1917, as reported here, and countless events observed in my own life and in the lives of those I know.)  Today Charubel says 'There is NOTHING connected with this degree (Gemini 6-7).  Some mystery here which I do not comprehend.'   That could fit with the nine-hour void-of-course period (see the times above).  No, we are not 'losing it' but it might seem so.  The 'mystery' Charubel detected is for each of us to discover or solve on our own.  This might help:  'A deer.  A person of fine sensibilities; a lover of art, or given to scientific research.'  Why 'a deer' would symbolize that is not clear to me, but pondering the image might bring intuitive insight.  A deer might seem stupid, but its 'fine sensibilities' might be more amazing than we realize.  Be a deer if not a dear.

Process:  'An old-fashioned well' is said by Dr. Jones to indicate 'absolute self-reliance and uncompromising faithfulness.'  Personal self-renewal occurs via the purity of the water.  One might pump for others or for oneself, or accept their kindness.  All are recompensed in one way or another even if we wonder what is going on during the v-of-c.  To change the seasonal emphasis, 'children skating on ice' are accepting imminent adventure as 'self-expression and a dynamic impetus to further achievement.'  Neptune and Venus in  a square, while Mars trines Neptune, can help us experience whatever is happening as if it is not danger but Fun (the keyword).  

Blessing:  'A king, emperor or commander on horseback' could be ourselves as we wish to be.  Luna is in Sagittarius the sign of the horse or centaur.  I know two individuals with Sagittarius rising who love horses and have worked with them.  More likely for most of us the 'horse' is our bodies which we keep in shape. Then we might 'be in a position to command rather than obey.'  But this is likely to be gentle 'commanding,' for we are in 'a peaceful valley, with a lake on which a swan is floating.'  One can be calm, thoughtful, and peaceful during the nine hours of v-of-c.  'At the back rises a high mountain' of aspiration and hope.

P. S.  A presupposition of these forecast-meditations is that 'every day is a lifetime.'  Usually this is an 'interior' rather than exterior lifetime, that is, one experiences memories, hopes, and fantasies as well as actual interactions with people and society.  But if you feel there is 'too much' in the above paragraphs, it is good to select, gently, as the 'deer,' whatever fits, whatever makes sense to you or 'speaks to you,' and leave the rest, or perhaps re-read it later. One does not have to ingest everything on a smorgasbord.    P. P. S.:  I mentioned a few days ago that I tend to write more, with complex explanations, during a DHE.  It's happening again.  I'll try to control it.

^Uncertain, Wavering Approach to Singing-Dancing^

Full Moon of Sagittarius-Gemini is exact at 4:15a PT | 7:15a ET | 11:15a UT

Challenge:  The Full Moon makes us hopeful, yet the Dark , Slow or Inward Hermetic Epoch (until July 7) makes us doubtful or listless.  'The sun rises in his brightness, but the rest of the sky is covered with dark clouds, a lingering night.'  There is promise, but grand schemes could prove failures.  'A waning moon, amid clouds, dimly reveals a ship at sea, but all disabled.'  Aptitude and versatility require also a shot of hopefulness and a stable focus,  rather than dropping something fair for something worse.  

Process:  'A prima donna singing' is giving forth from her excellence (in accord with Veus's nonagen with Uranus and square with Neptune).  Listeners lose and find themselves through a singer's 'overflowing richness of self.'  Sagittarius, wherein the moon courses, is often a singing sign.  Other factors could make for the sobriety of 'a woman with a book in one hand and a pair of scales in the other.'  She could be a judge, lawyer, politician, or of some dutiful profession, famous though perhaps not popular.  She calls us to dispassionate judgment whenever we feel doubtful.

Blessing:  Remember that you are not 'losing it' when the DHE seems to hang heavy and you forget what you are doing or feel mildly deranged.  This could get worse in the next week while Mercury continues to slow down, turning retrograde on Saturday the 29th.  We want a different world and this one is 'too much with us.'  Our 'drilling for oil' could be silly gambling, wasting time, or it might be wise speculation, a specialization of effort taking much research which might look pointless to an outside observer.  Risk could bring uncertain objectives closer.  Then there could be 'a barn dance' or fulfillment through community activity.  We have to let go sometimes and the Full Moon can be the moment for that.  There is happy give-and-take within the dance.  Gregarious experiences have their own value sealed within them.

~Choosing a Simple Moderate Pace~

Challenge:  For most this could be a 'coming out of the woods' day, with things gradually untangling.  Meanwhile one might feel like 'a traveler struggling onward in the midst of a snow-storm.  The brave man is lost in the darkness.'  One might find a snow-savvy steed and then be 'a man dressed as a groom riding upon a spirited horse.'  One's aptitudes are steady and one can 'serve the cause of truth' even in obscurity.  

Process:  When things seem uncertain there is a tendency to go off at a tangent, as if one were an editor or writer for 'a radical magazine.'  Yes, the future could be better than the present humanity has managed to dredge up.  Yet quarreling perversely with the current state of things is unlikely to help.  Yet change in human affairs could be progressive, and it is good to give dramatic force to hopes stirring deeply within.  Else one might be as indifferent as 'a chest floating on an open sea.'  Yet it is good to be placid and calm at certain stages.  This 'coming out of the woods' day has room for a bit of easy-going drift.  Still, if you sense that you are opposed you could summon up irresistible force.

Blessing:  'A youth tossing coins into a cup as if in play' may be a bitcoin or digital currency buff, or have peculiar tastes, amusing himself after his own manner, as indifferent as the floating chest to what others are doing.  This could be the temporary lostness of the moon at the end of Scorpio.  Yet even then there are better possibilities if one is careful (moon sextile Pluto at and before the void-of-course moment).  One could be like 'a person of good proportions; fine dark eyes with arched eyebrows' who is 'neat and orderly, a good reasoner; proud, and somewhat selfish.'  Differences of opinion (moon square Jupiter) may bring into question what is selfish and what is not.

Challenge:  Sagacious observation can be done in private.  'A profile with one eye in view' is said by Charubel to indicate a good detective with a practical mind, not a mere theorizer.  Yet Neptune square Mercury suggests also the spiritual intuitive plane, where there is some danger of disproportion.  One shares friendship with those who 'dream dreams and see visions.'  There is some chance of being misled or misleading. 'Two men, well clad, stand together, one holding a white horse by the bridle.'  Today is Bob Dylan's birthday.  He channeled the visionary into his no-nonsense gritty voice.

Process:  One's home, community, or estate, public or private, is lasting and firm.  Within it or from it one hands down something great to posterity.  More transient sources of whatever is needed, symbolized by 'a cafeteria,' provide prodigal supplies.  Oneself can  manifest 'a fullness of contribution and an effectiveness of requisition.'  Within this process there can be, temporarily, some renunciation of over-supply such as over-eating, on a moon-square-Saturn day which makes us sensitive to any excess.

Blessing:  'A red tree covered with golden fruit' represents 'no ordinary person,' someone who 'will be a blessing to the race' through personal efforts.  In moments of relaxation, Venus's bi-quintile with Pluto gives us 'gondoliers in a serenade,' a celebration of 'the ever-exuberant music of life itself' opening to soulful sentiments which assuage worries.

Challenge:  The above data suggest this is a transition day. 'A woman in an attitude of dejection covers her otherwise naked breast with the hair of her head.'  One might feel deserted or betrayed by someone, or feel that one has done that to someone else.  Venus approaching a square with Neptune makes affections doubtful, perhaps, yet one can find one's soul in and through the suffering.  Sepharial says that there is 'a peculiar admixture of gentleness and irritability, of playfulness and gravity.'  He suggests that the military and musical worlds might be joined together.  There could be dancing.  

Process:  'An empty space' goes with the Via Combusta; one may feel open to 'extraneous influences' through weakness or indifference.  And so it might be wise to turn to 'a very old-looking book, appearing as if some ancient record.'  Charubel summons up 'a profound thinker, capable of grappling with abstruse studies.'  One might love one's books.

Challenge:  Mercury square Neptune, each in its own sign, is consonant with 'a broken pitcher lying upon the ground with spilled fruit around it.'  This could be impracticality and vain pursuits resulting in impotence.  Sometimes higher thought or realization (Neptune) can interfere with lower competence (Mercury) unless one consciously reconciles them, something we are more likely to need during any Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch (until July 7).  Then one might be strong both physically and psychically, responsible for 'buildings and rocky ramparts resting on a tremendous Corinthian pillar,' in other words, for some gigantic scheme or organization, as its founder or supporter.  

Process:  If one tunes to the presence of Luna in Venus's sign Libra while trining Venus in Gemini (plus Mars trine Neptune in water signs), one might succumb to the odor of 'a cluster of faded exotics, very sweet and sickly to the smell.'  This could be timidity, frailty, and 'fictitious stimulants' (some of them well known and widely used).  This would be putting pleasure ahead of character.  However, there is room for natural recreation and renewal, 'the garden of the Tuileries' or of old French royalty.  There one can enjoy the luxury of 'social position and wealth' spiced with 'graceful and exquisite self-expression.'  All desire satisfactions which others cherish as well.

Blessing:  If inclined to serious thinking or study, one might be in possession of 'a square, containing twelve small squares, resembling the breast-plate of the Jewish high priest.'  This denotes 'a reverential and devotional disposition,' secrecy, study of the occult, and perhaps 'mighty deeds as a magician.'  In more relaxed mode, in that luxurious garden or some more common semblance of it, one may encounter 'a troubadour standing with one foot on the ledge of a rock, his instrument slung at his side, listening to the music of a cascade falling at his feet.'  This is a colorful and romantic phase, with love of the marvelous, contentment with one's own powers, and harmony with others by whom one is influenced.

Challenge:  The six hours of v-of-c (above) might feel as if one is a 'man sitting upon his heels, breaking stones with a hammer.'  'One who may labor much to little profit.'  Or Mercury square Neptune might make one confused about what would be profitable even before that time.  Probably routines are best.  Were one to be more active, one might seem like 'a bull tossing a man with his horns' if one is facing what seems like unfairness and protesting it.  Or someone else might seem like that bull, but Mars's trine with Neptune ought to smooth things out eventually.  There is comfort at home base.

Process:  'A woman suffragist haranguing' might be correct about her protests yet uncouth in expressing them.  Strategy is essential, probably with some diplomacy to modify one's indignation.  At the other extreme one might just escape problems totally by turning to 'a cluster of faded exotics, very sweet and sickly to the smell.'  Frailty and timidity could impel one toward trying to live in luxuries or 'fictitious stimulants.'  Some reconciliation of protest (the suffragist) and calm, peaceful escape can happen in your consciousness.  

Blessing:  With Part of Fortune in the fourth segment of Home, one might be like 'a hen scratching for her chicks,' or someone else might be that hen for you.  A parental concern is evident at least in some subtle manner.  We provide for one another and get satisfaction from that. (I sometimes run across a woman and her husband feeding pigeons in my neighborhood and chat with them.)   Another way of making a home around oneself is to be 'a man on the roof of a building putting slates on it, while another carries them up a long ladder.'  Charubel says this indicates 'deeds which tend to benefit the community' as performed by 'a lover of peace and promoter of all good works.'

Challenge:  'A woman holds a bundle of faggots, her hair loose and disordered by the wind, wandering in search of something.'  One could be versatile and eccentric (Luna sextile Mars and trine Uranus).  One might try to do more than one can within a given time, though one feels brilliant.  Confusion (moon opposite Neptune) needs time to sort out.  The same energy, if directed well, could be 'a lightning flash' overturning false notions and illumining the world and other minds.  One could take on a leadership role within home and community.

Process:  Mercury in its sign Gemini squaring Neptune in its sign PIsces could have an interesting effect on the mind, inclining to thoughts of distant scenes with a yen for discovery, symbolised by 'an artificial globe.'  'The world is full of a number of things' and they all have their interest.  Likewise 'a glass-bottomed boat in still water' facilitates curiosity, allowing one to gain poise through 'objective inactivity' while estimating life's potentialities.  'The transient stream of everyday affairs' is our environment, ours to ponder for reasons we may not comprehend, yet there it is for some reason and we exult in it or capitalize on it.  

Blessing:  'Common elements of background and skills' are the social milieu in which we move, close to home, in the neighborhood, and we are like 'two Dutch children talking' in a way which grants easy self-confidence to both.  Ourselves are like 'two yellow flowers growing beneath the shade of a luxuriant tree' which is the community.  It shelters and protects us, as may some special individual.  We can be kind and trustful, with advantageous friendships and security.

Challenge:  Signor Borelli gives us 'a dark man, richly appareled, surrounded by servants and courtiers, reclines on a couch' with the keyword Luxury.  Sounds okay to me.  Fetch me another Amarula!  But of course then Sepharial warns against 'love of ease as a cause of misfortune.'  Blah.  No fun at all.  Or if one has to make up for lack of good fortune one might be 'a man in a mask standing beneath the shadow of a tree at night.  At his feet there is a dead cow.'  The keyword for this is Plunder and so one might be 'wily, acquisitive, and disposed to use doubtful means in the pursuit of wealth.'  

Process:  'A public market,' keyword Commerce, is a more respectable way toward gain than rustling cattle.  Whether as buyer, seller, or investor, one participates in 'organizing the converging and conflicting interests of many people in practical arrangements of mutual benefit.'

(That's a perspicuous definition of 'market' by Dr. Jones.)  With Mercury square Neptune there might also be 'a conversation by telepathy' supplementing the above-board dealings of the marketplace, that is, 'a fellowship of invisible sympathies and co-operations.'  There are 'illimitable ties between each individual and every other.'  

Blessing:  Although the sun's square with Jupiter in Pisces (the ocean sometimes) and Mercury's square with Neptune could indicate something like 'a very rough sea, a wreck,' 'the life-boat is dispatched and all are finally rescued.'  Charubel says this could be 'active philanthropy:  Thou shalt save many, and thou shalt save thyself.'  Though aspects are somewhat turbulent, 'the germ grows into knowledge and life.'  Within each of us is 'the philosopher's stone' or 'sure core of immutable distinctiveness.'  This unfolds into 'personal realization and self-consummation.'

Challenge:  'Stairs with a handrail and landing at the top, leading to nowhere' sounds like much that happens during any DHE (this one lasts until July 6).  It's also Mercury square Neptune, sluggish or confused thoughts, or dealing with deceptive institutions or people.  At a more active level there could be conflict, 'a Hercules or Samson standing over a slain lion.'  This could be conquest in a dispute (sun square Jupiter can be intense disagreement).  

Process:  There might be evidence of crudity or voraciousness, 'two wolves devouring a carcass in the moonlight.'  Sepharial says this could represent 'secret treaties or associations of a dangerous character.'  It may not be clear what this is about, for Charubel chimes in with 'This is a blank degree.  What it implies I cannot say.'  But he says that it might have to do with 'the number four and its square,' in other words, probably with getting clarity in accounting, and square dealing.  

Blessing:  'A man before a square with a manuscript scroll before him' carries the 'square deal' into the intellectual realm, 'an exercise in self-competency' according to Dr. Jones.  'Humanity's conscious realizations require continual examination by logical or judicial criteria.'  At high levels, this can be profundity.  Much of what has been covered so far is reminiscent of the 'karmic adjustment' required by the |difficult third| period continuing until tomorrow afternoon-evening.  The final symbol is more relaxing, 'Two cobblers working at a table.'  People 'solve special problems' through 'the simple communion of functions performed in a division of labor.'  Capabilities are individual, yet socially channeled.

[A Dark or Slow or Meandering, Intuitive Hermetic Epoch began late Saturday-early Sunday, and I notice that every time this happens I get more verbose here and write longer analyses.  It's as if there is more to think about  But I want to try this time to keep the three paragraphs for each day shorter.  I realize that you may find them prolix, 'too much of a good thing.'  But I find that I have to use at least six symbols each day.  Four, which I tried, is not enough.  Here is how you might reduce the verbiage:  Read through the paragraphs and then select one or two, maybe three, symbols which speak to you and focus on them.  You might recall them during the day whenever you want or need them.  They may often be the "Blessing" symbols but not always.  Sometimes one of the warning symbols will stand out as appropriate.  Of course I also try to make the title of the day's report representative of what you might face.  I would be glad to hear your own report of how you connect with all this.]

Challenge:  You may be aware of a person who is somewhat of a charlatan (Mercury square Neptune), or else seems to be, or whose veracity is in doubt, or who is self-deceived.  (I have been listening to some podcasts of David Icke whom many believe to fill that bill, though some of his insights are wonderful.)  He or she is like 'a dog lying asleep on the cushion of a throne,' 'of idle habits' and 'attaining offices for which he is not by nature qualified.'  Or one might suspect that this description fits some facet of one's own presentation to the world.  Oneself or someone else might be like 'a man climbing a pole set upon an elevation,' with ambitions in the clouds and no solid way to reach them. 

Process:  However, there can be 'a new path of realism in experience' (Venus and Mercury trine Saturn).  Weighing pros and cons can result in choosing what has demonstrated its usefulness.  One identifies what is reliable.  With Luna in Leo sextile to Venus, there are the happy potentials of 'a woman pursued by mature romance.'  Either words or manners are persuasive toward 'the eternal promise' of mutual appreciation.  'The fullness of life is ageless and the human spirit immortal in its functioning' proclaims Dr. Jones.  The native goodness of people seems more evident when the moon is in Leo (though we are in the |difficult third| of the week).

Blessing:  Let's not encourage excess, but a festive spirit may prevail.  'A group of vagrants or gypsies are seated round a cauldron in which food is preparing.'  Smells good to me.  Yet one might 'leave one's native place and wander over the world, never satisfied with things as they are, leaving golden opportunities behind.'  Still, the present looks fulsome.  In fact, says Charubel, we are on 'a very straight road with an interminable perspective' denoting 'an evenly balanced mind and an uneventful life that will be long and happy.'

Challenge:  Mars and Saturn, anciently designated the two 'malefics,' in a difficult quincunx, might be responsible for 'a dark cloud passing over a part of the earth, charged with elemental shapes, hideous and repulsive.'  Charubel says this shows a temptation to dabble in black or evil magic, 'which would terminate in utter ruin.'  Motives and impulses need to be guarded.  'An airplane falling' likewise warns of a possible crisis.  One might 'plunge into experience with a complete disregard of consequences.'  Hopefully one can 'right the dive' and 'regain control of the flight.'  

Process:  Mars and Luna in Cancer suggest 'a pool of water,' signifying 'an easy-going person content with only a little---unstable, and fond of home.'  This of course would represent only one aspect of the day, not its entirety, but would fit with 'a squaw selling beads,' a person who is uninterested in superficial ambition but rather is  'anchored in an inner reality.'  She is faithful to 'the 'recognized tokens of the cultural heritage' but detached from 'petty excellencies of person.'  Philosophically, this could be the vairagya recommended by the Vedas and Upanishads.  

Blessing:  But with the sun in Taurus and the moon in Cancer, food signs, we might have 'a group of people who have overeaten and enjoyed it.'  There are rewards, and there is 'the inescapable richness of life in any normal manifestation of itself.'  One does not have to eat oneself into the discomfort of dyspepsia, but 'a smooth demonstration of human competence' results in satiety.  Beside the Indian woman content with a simple life there is 'an alchemist at work in a laboratory; upon his table is much gold.'  Yet he too may live simply despite his 'success in an eccentric vocation' because he has more means at his command than he needs to use for his own narrow purposes.

This is the first day of a Slow or Dark Hermetic Epoch extending through July 6 (Mercury is slowing, then going retrograde)

It begins technically at 5:20p PT | 8:20p ET | 12:10a(Su) UT but is felt many hours before that

Challenge:  The Dark or Slow Epoch is not bad, just different.  It asks us to be more reflective and meditative, less insistent on following our usual procedures, open to variety and change, yet not so fickle as to lose touch with major goals.  It's a matter of keeping one's feet on the ground while taking off, sometimes, for an ethereal flight.  At worst, the Alice in Wonderland syndrome can be confusing or upsetting; at best it can be refreshing and exhilarating.  Today, 'a quiver filled with arrows' can be preparation for this two-month period.  One 'rises to the issue of the moment' and can ' make demands on one's fellows, or bring to one's service whatever may help one hold one's place in the scheme of things.' (Dr. Jones)  This fits with Mars sectile Uranus, an ability to be definite about requests or demands, and Luna with Mars in Cancer, the Crab sign which grabs and holds on to whatever it needs with those claws.  But this is not brute selfishness; 'an elephant' represents 'a person possessing much sagacity.  A great amount of secrecy, and implicit confidence in his own strength.'  (Charubel)  When one knows sagely that one is following a true, correct path one has the elephant's implicit confidence.

Process:  Mercury and Venus in Gemini are reflective and perspicacious.  One could solve conundrums.   One is not deterred by 'a labyrinth situated in the heavens' because 'a fine silver thread is suspended from it to the earth' and so one can 'solve enigmatical problems, or any given theorem requiring solution.' (Charubel)  Jupiter now in Pisces, plus the Wondering (Dark) Epoch, can open us to floods of 'higher knowledge' whether or not we choose to put any of it into words.  At a more emotive level, 'a Spaniard serenading his senorita' brings out 'the poetry of living' and 'the music of desire,' in accord with Luna's position in often-sentimental Cancer.  

Blessing:   The Wonderland, or Land of Oz, syndrome is consonant with 'a fair woman leading a child by the hand and gathering flowers by the way.'  Some will be loving and agreeable, tolerant, finding fulfillment in ordinary activity, translating that into a child's happiness.  Perhaps the fair woman collects 'a bunch of spring flowers, over which is set a bright star flashing and sparkling in a deep blue atmosphere.'  Sepharial says this indicates 'a person of poetical and gentle disposition, fond of sublime subjects and the study of nature in its gentler phases.'  He mentions botany and astronomy, flowers as stars or stars as flowers.  He states further that one influenced by this degree 'will marry a person of high rank or fame.  It is a degree of Success.'  So may it be.

}Letting Go and Trusting, then Uniting Forces{

Challenge:  The long void-of-course period need not be disastrous, of course, but 'a house on fire at night-time' suggests possible rashness, an inclination to dispute or 'domestic turmoil.'  Perhaps holding one's tongue during this 14-hour period would be wise, waiting for a time when communication can be more conducive to accord.  One might feel like 'a very old man facing a vast dark space to the northeast' contemplating 'eternal rebirth.'  Whatever chaos this person may be going through, he or she has a sanction for a recovering 'present aspiration and future achievement.'  'Dark moments of outlook' yield to inspiration or assurance.  'Deeper and hidden elements of life' are sought.  (That is a good use of the v-of-c period.)

Process:  'An industrial strike' again suggests the v-of-c:  "Why work when I am not being rewarded sufficiently?  I need to act in my own interest."  There is resistance to exploitation, and then an attempt at 'constructive reorganization.'  One does not accept a lesser when one can have a greater.  But the working-out of this takes time.  Meanwhile, one can improvise:  'A man stands before an audience with all the paraphernalia of a juggler.'  'He is never at a loss through lack of resources.  He is capable of turning his hand or his wits to anything.'  

Blessing:  'A large well-kept public park' suggests leaning on community resources for recreation and renewal.  'The common experience of mankind' is all around us as a basis for self-discovery and self-realization.  Jupiter has entered Pisces, its own sign, as of today, no longer under the domination of Saturn in Aquarius.  We might celebrate a little.  'A man and woman stand face to face, their hands clasped.'  We can live in harmony with all both through persuasion of them and adaptability toward them.  Single forces would be 'incomplete and ineffectual' but united forces would bring effectual progress and accord.

Challenge:  The early days of a fresh lunar cycle are optimistic, as if one felt that 'a scepter surrounded by a crown' were within reach.  But to get there one needs to make continuous exertions.  'A man delving' is partial to using his hands to shape the world to his convenience and by being particular in small matters could advance to a foremost position in his sphere of action.  

Process:  Likewise, 'one hand slightly flexed with a very prominent thumb' shows determination to be practical in every eventuality, to the point of ruthlessness (Mercury and Luna trine Saturn, Mars quincunx Saturn, sun trine Pluto).  One must 'rule one's environment' according to Dr. Jones.  Then one is like 'a woman holding a book in one hand and a pair of scales in the other,' using sound reason, dispassionate judgement, elegant manners and a cold, impassive nature to succeed in duties and profession.  

Blessing:  At another level there could be the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake, or 'the subtle sciences,' that is, those not generally understood as sciences, the more mystical and occult quests suggested by 'a caduceus between two moons, one crescent and the other gibbous.'  There is travel, change, and versatility, perhaps scholarship.  On the practical side there could be 'drilling for oil,' 'penetrating to the uttermost depths of potentiality,' undergoing risk to pursue uncertain objectives.  This could be too much like gambling, or it could 'open new dimensions of being.'

Challenge:  Things seem better, yet we still have that threatening symbol, 'a dagger lying beside a skull' which probably just means we need to keep a watch on ourselves lest we say or do something which could precipitate danger or dangerous reactions in someone.  Perhaps there is a struggle for financial gain or survival, 'two men stand in a wood fighting a duel.  Between them lies a rich purple and gold vesture and a casket of jewels.'  If someone or some institution seems to stand in the way of your prosperity, you can fight it out, or win by more subtle ways, if you know you are right.

Process:  If there is some melancholy and fretfulness, it is because some things are slow to work out and there is mystery about how they will resolve.  You are very sensitive to any imposition, fraud, or insincerity in anyone, but can meet that with a large-hearted graciousness which brings soul to the forefront.  (This could be the 'more subtle ways' above.)  

Blessing:  Mercury trine Saturn and Sol trine Pluto could bring order to business and other matters.  'A person of good proportions; fine dark eyes with arched eyebrows' is 'an all-round person who accomplishes things efficiently.'  There is good reasoning, pride, and a little selfishness, but this might be appropriate in the larger scheme of things.  'A jewelry shop' suggests the preservation of everything of value to you.  Character and skill could bring tangible benefits, even luxury.
