Challenge: We have an ominous degree today, which we have lived through many a time, but it might be a useful warning in some regard. The Iranian general Soleimani, killed by U. S. forces more than a year ago, had two birth-planets at this degree. He was not popular in his own land and was considered a tyrannical monster by many. (I do not judge the man but am just reporting facts.) Here is what Charubel says about this degree: 'There is no symbol to this degree. But I perceive that it is charged with evil, and wickedness of a most diabolical nature . . . This nature will be subtle but plausible in appearance. Destitute of one spark of REAL sympathy. He will ever prove treacherous to those who take him into their confidence. He is reserved, he is studious, but his favorite pursuit is black magic. Much of this is liable to modification [based on other aspects in the chart]. Still, he will find strong leanings to injure his fellow men rather than do them good.' I take this as a charge to us to look for that demon within ourselves, first of all, though perhaps to notice it in others . . . without paranoia or hysteria but with reasonable caution. Goodwill needs to be fortified and any traces of cruelty cast out. We could be heroes rescuing others: 'A rough sea, a wreck; the life-boat is dispatched; all are finally rescued.' 'Thou shalt save many, and thou shalt save thyself. An active philanthropist.'
Process: There are some smooth indications including Luna trine Venus and Sol, and Venus sextile Uranus, amounting to 'a dark person, richly appareled and surrounded by servants, reclining on a couch.' This is luxury, artistic taste, wealth and ease. Sepharial warns against too much 'love of ease' which could 'cause misfortune.' Charubel says there is 'low, dense fog' but 'sunshine above,' or that we could be frustrated in worldly matters but 'attain to great heights in matters spiritual and transcendental.' That is, not rely too much on our luxurious apparel, servants, and couch, but look above to what it all means and ways of using our good fortune wisely.
Blessing: The good Venus aspects could make us feel like 'a peacock parading on an ancient lawn,' perhaps remembering former glories in our lives and wearing them as rainbow feathers to boost morale. But the keyword of this degree is 'aloofness' suggesting that we may be parading for ourselves more than for an appreciative audience. This does not have to be vulgar display but could be 'proper dignification of superficial excellencies.' If one were to go deeper into a personal relationship, one might be one of 'a circle within a circle, both concentric.' Sepharial says this could be 'a life that is bounded by another, a happiness that can never be shared alone.' This would be the opposite of the warning in paragraph 1. 'Sweet influences are engendered by a mind at rest within itself and a nature disposed to harmony.' One might 'guard and cherish those of smaller attainments and less mature life,' or be so guarded and cherished.
