We are being warned against what might be called "delicious sins." There is "a serpent coiling near a man and a woman" suggesting the "first sin" in the Genesis allegory, and then "a soldier derelict in duty" suggesting Adam's transgression. "Oh, that apple is so delicious, who cares what happens afterward?" I was reading a piece yesterday about how old and new couples are dealing with the confinement and social distancing in regard to sexual relations. Maybe some of that will come to a head today. I guess I ought to say "be careful." Apart from that, in a more basic way we might be tempted to ignore some things we ought to be doing whether domestically or in a job. Not all activity is stopped and we could be "derelict" in giving ourselves too much of a holiday. Or we might be properly defiant in "rejecting meaningless loyalties" such as the AWOL soldier is doing. As for the serpent, Dr. Jones suggests that its higher meaning is a revelation of the purpose in intimate human relations so that they are rich with universal wisdom and interpersonal responsibility. The moon forms a T square focused on Uranus by its opposition to the "malefic" planets Mars and Saturn, so again I need to say, be careful.
"A woman having her hair bobbed" has made a decision to alter her relations with the community by changing her appearance or style. A minor modification opens enlarged channels of self-expression. "An oriental rug dealer" also is taking advantage of whatever is at hand, ready to be competent in utilizing assets and leads. Some, cast out of their usual economic position, are trying their hand at something more adventitious, unfamiliar but promising, such as working on consignment. "Do I have a deal for you."
I remind myself as well as you that we are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch, from March 30 through June 1, which offers clearer and better paths than we had in the Dark Epoch of February 2--March 29. Charubel says that the sun today is at the degree of Aries (the sign of Sol's exaltation) representing "a true solar man" or woman "destined to rule or command." If this seems a too-high ideal we can nevertheless manifest it in small ways, as in home and daily endeavors. "A dark man, richly appareled, surrounded by servants and courtiers, reclines on a couch." Love of ease could bring misfortune to one with wealth and influence; the rich have their characteristic problems. Yet artistry and luxury may fall to our lot.
