A raging bull stamping upon the body of a dog. Excessive passions, anger. Brutal ferocity could ruin a career. Violence. b \This is going to be "all in the mind" for most of us, fortunately, perhaps in the form of some anger or other. But see the following symbol and comment.
A man holding a fowl by the neck in the act of strangling it. Cruelty and cowardice. Taking advantage of the defenseless. c \This symbol has stuck with us a few days. It could have many correspondences. Today I read in the New York Times a piece by the wife of an NFL player telling how, years after damage to his nervous system from training, he has degenerated, "lost his mind" almost, at the age of 43. His eating and sleeping habits seem beyond his control. He becomes paranoid toward his wife. He cannot drive. This is what C.T.E. can do (chronic traumatic encephalopathy). And he is far from the only football player so afflicted; there are hundreds. The NFL would appear to be "the man strangling the fowl," namely, the players, and perhaps the football fans are enablers as well. Foul play! I am sorry to mention this the day before the Superbowl! But maybe that is the time to think about it.
A man viewing himself in a looking-glass. Vanity. A vain pursuit or profitless calling. c \Far be it from me to suggest that playing football is "a vain pursuit or profitless calling." It is better to apply this to oneself and see what one may be doing during the day which is pointless. However, I must say also that appreciating the beauty in others and oneself, whether physical or spiritual, is a good thing. Sai Baba says, "Wherever you look, everything in God’s creation is reaction, reflection and re-sound. Whatever you see outside is the reflection of your inner being." So, if you look into gorgeous faces, you are seeing yourself. Maybe better than a looking-glass.
A game of cricket. Sportsmanship. s \I haven't heard of C.T.E. from cricket, at least not so far. Today could be a good game or sports day, with Mercury exactly sextile Mars and both well-aspected by Luna. Let's invoke the spirit of trying, but not being worried about losing. That's good sportsmanship.
A ship in full sail upon a sunlit sea. Enterprising and adventurous. Catholic and cosmopolitan. Affluence. b \The world's economies seem to be that sailing ship, despite the stock market's decline last week. Whatever American trade policies may turn out to be, international commerce is thriving.
A beacon light on a high rock. Pay attention to impressions called by the world foolish, but showing Divinity speaking through humanity. c \I have little to add. Let's be open to that, through attention to our spiritual teachers.
A rug placed on a floor for children to play. Refinement. s \Whether cricket, wrestling, Monopoly or video games, we may need this spontaneity. It leads to refinement through trial, error, and trying again without worry.

|Karmically serious third of this week| is with us * * *
A vessel rolling in the trough of a rough sea. A state of uncertainty. Changes and trials. Struggle for existence. c \This would go along with the |difficult third of this week|. It's not dire, but "uncertainty" is sometimes present when Luna is in Libra, sign of the "balance" and of wavering decision. It's Superbowl Sunday but we may feel a need to get some important things done.
A beaver at work upon a tree overhanging a gorge. Work is a pleasure. Industry. \Oh dear, Sunday as a work day? I leave it to you to discern what this means.
A cataract falling from one rocky ledge to another. Precipitous and hazardous projects. Compulsion. b \This goes along with the beaver's work on a tree overhanging a gorge. The result of his work could be swallowed up. A hazardous project. Yet one is compelled to do it, one piece at a time (each rocky ledge). Maybe you just need to attend to a few essentials in and around your pleasurable-escape activities. Getting those done might liberate you.
A big bear sitting down and waving all its paws. Aptitude. s \So you do have the aptitude you need for all of the preceding. Yet as long as that bear just waves its paws, what is it accomplishing?
A man viewing himself in a looking-glass. Vanity. A vain pursuit or profitless calling. c \The bear is doing it for a photo op! Shame. "Look at that cute bear waving its paws!" Is that all we are good for? Or should we just let ourselves enjoy the cuteness, cleverness, and sometimes beauty of humanity (and bearhood)? People want to parade their egos.
A smith's forge and bellows. Aspiration in things of a spiritual nature. Can awaken a belief in things supernormal in others. Plies a useful profession or art, not ostentatious. Inspiration. b \So the smith gets hard work done but also awakens spirituality. Likewise, the beaver enjoys his work rather than complaining through his sturdy teeth.
A game of cricket. Sportsmanship. s \Well, I guess it's okay after all to watch the Superbowl! Get back to work during those ads and time-outs. Or please your companions by taking their photos.
