A pugnacious trend makes us see what's missing
In our lives; the strong one says we need it now.
As for effluvia, they need to be chopped out
Amid chaos of unfledged minds in disorder.
There is sorrow when someone is missing or
Contacts dissolve and the heart feels bereft.
The rooster sings with fervor of what he hopes;
The hens too hopeful then despond, running
Around as if lost. The scholar watches all with
Eyes of knowledge. The man beneath the tree
Wonders if friendship matters, or just the bare
Deep truth of the Eternal. The winter birds
Scold him, scatter and gather, commune together
Wordlessly. Bulls and human males desire to fight,
To see what they are made of. Lowered horns
And clenched fists signify power. Ruthless dissension
Teaches detached discrimination. The rooster crows
Again; knows he can fly away from any,
Light on the bull, mock the fist, sing his song
Of careless mastery. All laugh in joyful sympathy.
