Although I do not belong to or usually attend one of the ritualistic churches which make a great deal of the "church calendar" gradually set up by the early Church, I do believe that the Advent season begins on December 1--the period preparing for the Birth of the Christ Child. (Although as an astrologer I have doubts he was born on December 25, that does not disrupt the symbolic and spiritual meaning of the holiday, which is partly a celebration of Sol's rebirth in the Northern Hemisphere.) I have had evidences of that, and used to love the childlike Advent calendars which have a new window to open each day until Christmas. At least they put an emphasis on internal, imaginative gifts rather than external commercial ones.

The keyword "confinement" above can mean being alone actually or in spirit, somewhat contemplative, reaching inward more than outward. It is often appropriate for the final days of an Old Moon (the New will be late Monday afternoon). 

For those determined to do Christmas shopping I would suggest today as better than either Friday or Saturday, up to the void-of-course time in evening. 

A somewhat morose period is relieved by Luna's sextile with Venus in the morning and Mars in the afternoon-evening. This brings out the trine between our neighboring planets on which I have commented; technically it lasts through December 24. It has been obscured partly by other more difficult positions yet is a background harmony into which one could dip more easily today than Friday and Saturday. It's not that everyone is in love exactly but that love in its essence is available in smooth ways for those who can appreciate, accept, or evoke it. 

Some more sombre positions and aspects are requiring us to think a lot of our missions, purposes, careers, even on a Sunday. It is healthy, so long as one does not merely worry negatively but rather "worries" creatively, in hope and expectation of solutions, which are very possible during a Bright Hermetic Epoch extending until January 22. Luna with Mercury today strengthens wise planning. Uranus trine Sol lends confidence, and Venus nonagen Neptune graciously pleasing serendipity.

The poetic statement may be overdrawn--it is not so much that you would encounter malice as perhaps bumbling attempts by somebody to do something he or she regards as fine when it really is not. People hurt others usually--especially if within the family or a circle of friends--without intending to and even with good intentions. It might be wise to watch for that. 

An emphasis on money and career looks mostly positive, as if you had learned some important lessons during the past two weeks while Mercury has been with Saturn, sharpening your sense of how to proceed, your awareness of just the right or best methods to use in your work and financial planning. Now you can use all that, provided nothing pushes you off the track. 

To some degree, pleasure and partnership mix with business. People are reorienting themselves within their boundaries, their homes and headquarters, and finding they know how to proceed provided they reconcile themselves to the urges and programs of the others close to them, avoiding them when necessary or encompassing and using them when possible. 

After the New Moon in late afternoon-evening, things should be taking better shape in your consciousness. Things may build up to a peak of the week on Thursday, when you may feel you have reason to celebrate. Yes, do that before a slump begins Friday.

Health is obviously an individual matter, so I rarely mention it in these reports intended to shed light on everyone's situation. However, it appears that health is "under threat" from stresses and strains, in general, and how well you stand up under those depends on your individual case. 

We are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch and plans for improving your living situation could be solid now if you put some of them into effect. Modest organization or re-arrangement at home could be felicitous. During the long void-of-course period, ordinary clean-up can go well, make way for further progress, and put you in a better mood. 

I would guess that a record number of items sold today will be returned. I myself would not go Christmas shopping during a void-of-course period, especially when the moon is also in the Via Combusta, but since people often don't give a fig about the presents they receive anyway, maybe it doesn't matter. If it's a meaningless ritual, it still rings cash registers. 

The stream of events can be melodious if we make it so by singing along with it. We can take old things and make them new. Researches in any area of deep interest can be successful and far-reaching. Deep thought seems necessary to human beings, called manomaya purusha, mental entities, in Sanskrit. 

There is dignity and valor in the way you use funds. You know how to bring together high and low no matter their differences of opinion. There is rapture in sharing whatever can be appropriately shared. When I touched a dying rose recently it immediately gave out the most potent aroma of its life. 

Using energies at hazard in pointless ways is all right for a while as long as it doesn't go on too long. Being venturesome is game, as in playing cards, video games, sports and so on. This can be cheering and harmless.

You are responsive to influences which uplift you and brighten your path, especially when you try to share something you know or are able to do with someone, whether or not he or she gets the drift of your suggestions. 

Appealing to G*d through whatever way makes sense to you, formal or textual, prayerful or ritualistic, is always good. Principles lead to methods, which lead to results, in any area, so continued study and thought is progressive even if bewildering at times. Pressing beyond bewilderment spells breakthrough.

Superficially, it is a time for hunkering down, focusing on simple things, necessities, and internal spiritual matters. Exciting events or social ones are likely to fall flat unless they have some internal strength and karmic resilience, that is, are basic to your own dharma and that of the others involved. Then they could go well. Our souls are judging ourselves during these times.

Something symphonic could be heartening, that is, an interplay of differing human instrument-personalities which lifts the general mood. Old materials, waste materials, "stuff" to work with or throw out or use in better ways, is significant. You are determined to make the most of what you already have rather than strive for something new.

Those who are privileged, or think they are, can be bull-headed and selfish without realizing. They feel they have a right to be angry against whatever would impede their settled course of ongoing success. If they regain spiritual aplomb, they realize that noblesse oblige--that privileges come with responsibilities. Then they can pass on something helpful to the world.

If you become flighty and indeterminate, you will detect this quickly and pull yourself back from too much waste motion. Health, and security in your circumstances, seem primary. Is what you feel fired up to do really practical? If not, it could have a place in your day but when fiery zeal cools down you will turn to something less exciting and safer.

Your general aptitudes and your mind are steady. You have a hankering for something more prominent, for a place among the "beautiful people" or those who are conspicuously successful in business or government. Yet this may seem unrealistic. It may be fulfilled partly through imagination, or books, movies, TV and so on. It is healthy to imagine how one would act within a circle of privilege.

When one has become mature, one sees things less selfishly, as if one had a mission to carry out, and with that can come intense determination. This is real rather than false privilege--because the race itself is sustaining one's efforts to do something noble and helpful to all. One uses then whatever is at hand, old things and organizations--vahans  in Sanskrit--which would otherwise be languishing wastefully.

People want to look well and may forget how others look or what their deeper Reflections convey beyond their shadow selves. Forgetting oneself in remembering others is a serendipity.

The automobile is useless unless employed in service.

Its threshold to be crossed recumbs beyond known highways.

We sense something better trying to manifest through the human race. We rise toward it; try to make it happen sincerely. Its Secret is beyond us but we smell and feel it.

The one remembered had his moments and his character.

He overshadows the living who imitate the richness of his spirit.

We make concessions to our weakness until a fine example stirs us to something higher. His or her reflection Beyond lifts our aspiration.

We know more than we put in words. Our best music is of the soul. Outward study, however, can secure it if we ponder the right texts. They are deep, lost to the superficial.

A pig knows not the sense of "overeating"

But a boy with a candle sublimates appetite.

This holiday has its dangers. Perhaps the sin of gluttony is forgiven by the angels--if we are really giving thanks. Youth knows how foolish rules can be yet also opts out of decadence quite blithely.

The feast is endless, nothing missing, too many choices;

The goodness of living fulfills through abject luxury.

We feel we can have whatever we want. We cast energies in dissolute directions. Nonchalant attractions spring from nowhere, and delight.

He rides his hobby horse in circular paths. 

His teacher is a guide whose guidance boomerangs.

All teach others. All teach themselves. 

Incense wafts among the satiated as their scent-sense

Gets the drift of ancient methods, texts, and magnanimities.

The Great Work is comprehended and performed by each man and each woman, all stars, in this or another incarnation. The youngest and the oldest sometimes seem nearer the goal than those in the middle, all so worldly-occupied.

}Happy Week Begins{

As seen in the above lunar indications, things are smoothing out. I hope you are benefiting by knowing about the |difficult third| of each week. This week that two-to-three day period (coinciding lately with the weekends, gradually getting earlier in the week) corresponded with a two-to-three-day cold which I expect to be over almost precisely when the |period| ends on Monday morning. As I write on Sunday I am in the cold's final stages. Last weekend, the two-to-three-day |Karmically difficult| period corresponded with a friend's flu and fever precisely. He felt himself getting ill on Saturday but went out to party anyway and paid the price. Such things happen, but if you follow these trends carefully you may be spared much pain. Sometimes it is necessary to "pay the price" for an experience one needs. Other times, extra caution pays off. 

Further, even if one cannot escape some "karmic debt" during these two-to-three days, one can "pay" it more cheerfully if one knows about these periods and what they mean. Over and over, for decades, I have found that two-or-three-day illnesses such as colds and flu have come to me during these periods. Usually the experience is more subjective, involving depression or serious thoughtfulness, which of course can be salutary. That is why I use the word "sobering" for it.

Since the Sabbath in ancient Hebrew observance was the Saturn day of the week (Saturday), these weekly periods coinciding with the moon's harsher relation to Saturn are in a sense a weekly "Sabbath" or period of adjustment and recovery, good more for internal than external advancement. It is not that one cannot work; one can do one's necessary work with the sense of catching up or doing what simply must be done, but no more, giving oneself also a chance to recover and readjust spiritually.

I am telling you this now in retrospect of two such weekends, so I hope you will remember it for next weekend. Today, Monday, we are "out of the woods" with this particular cycle. Next week it will cover precisely Saturday and Sunday. It is nice that Thanksgiving is free of it. A new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins on Wednesday, the day before, so we will have something to celebrate for sure.

Monday's lunar aspects are progressive and helpful. Thank G*d it's Monday! There is a will to achieve and also to penetrate deeply into any mystery or conundrum one is trying to solve. One is aware of issues with friends but also of what they mean to one at a deep level of the heart. So there is a willingness to bear with whatever their problems or issues might be, even their seeming slights. Venus trine Mars from November 11 through December 24 (by ten degrees) is a background sustenance of harmony not just between the sexes but among all the "pairs of opposites" within the human family. It is aided now by Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury. This should be a happy holiday week.

The sphere of service you care about is not without its disagreements. The strife among viewoints, however, can be made friendly rather than harsh so that all learn something and come to appreciate even those who remain partly opposed. There are deep sentiments among people who feel surprisingly friendly toward one another, and artless, ingenuous expressions of such sentiment.

We continue with solid strength and momentum through this fortunate week. You may feel that you are completely in charge of your career, profession or job and that the projects you most care about are on course with solid comprehension of how to handle them. True, the Bright Hermetic Epoch technically begins tomorrow rather than today, but this is a minor matter since so many lunar and other indications are superb. 

Those who serve in "secondary capacities" are not really secondary. How could the world carry on without those who work for the minimum wage? If they stopped working tomorrow, everything would grind to a halt. You sense the importance of what you do, and appropriately. 

You care about those who are having problems, whether younger or older people, or who seem to lack some ability to carry on for the time being. Your sympathy for them is an aid, even if there is little you can do directly to remove their load of cares. 

People have their place of service, even if they do not consider it service. Even the playboy or malingerer has moments of aiding others, uplifting, pleasing or amusing them. Those who conclude their lives having done something they consider worthy of respect are blessed.

No one stands alone, though it seem that way. Your particular eminence is not the same as anyone else's, yet it serves as a landmark for others as surely as anyone's if you are true to the depths in yourself. Then you are stalwart and secure in the midst of differing, contrary attitudes and opinions, and will be looked to as a source of stability.

Her friend is effete, while she is up for training. 

*Peaceable Self-Training*

The "effete" friend might be, today, the square of the sun with Neptune, which can produce lethargy--or spiritual unease which demands some kind of meditative pose or poise in order to get deeper into the soul, and outwardly that can look like laziness. Yet we all need it at times; meditators do it daily, but even they may need longer sessions now. That square can also produce alcohol or drug problems, so over-indulgence has to be warned against. 

The Mercury-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio is intense for plumbing to the bottom of problems, or researching and finding solutions to anything intricate or labyrinthine. The moon in Leo trining Uranus in morning and afternoon suggests questing, wandering or prospecting, new friendly scenes or old ones re-experienced.

Many will seem out-of-sorts, yet basically optimistic, needing moral support perhaps.

The "some day" above might be poignant, for the moon's void-of-course period plus the |difficult third| suggest one can only do what one can do for now. That is enough, if motive and aspiration are high.

There is a desire for news, information, and variety. People want to dramatize themselves, not usually harshly, but with deep concern. Simplicity and kindness can emerge out of internal doubt or perplexity. People need patient understanding.

Toys in a hospital ward were once her happiness.

And now comes to her mind in its place within

The ancient book she studied. She carries the wand

She saw therein, entwined with serpents, lush

With entrancing power, and places it near the altar.

A cloud passing by dims the scene for only a few

Seconds. Glory renewed suffuses the couple's deep

Anticipations. They trust in vast prerogatives.

~Adapting, Cleansing, Refining, Strengthening~

The long-anticipated Bright Hermetic Epoch begins the 27th, the day before Thanksgiving. Meanwhile it seems that the world is "cleaning up" from the Dark Epoch, by no means finished. The headlines today are mostly grim. People lose faith during the Dark Epoch and do foolish things without even suspecting that they are being foolish. We have noticed also that the Obama health insurance plan, inaugurated on October 1 the very first day of the Dark Epoch, has faltered and failed and is expected, according to its devisors, to be repaired by "the end of November" which coincides with the beginning of the Bright Epoch. A more precise confirmation of the value of these Epochs could not have been devised. For the next week you may see how you have "converted yourself" from some foolish things. You have learned important things and it was not easy because you kept going back to the old ways you ought to have abandoned . . . You know what they were! 

Venus's opposition with Jupiter runs from November 16 through December 14. People like to take the center of the stage and show off. This can be entertaining and amusing, or annoying, or both. You will see it happening whenever you are in a group or with a friend. If everybody is wiling to "act out" and also to let others "act out" and appreciate that, all goes quite interestingly. There is a lot of feeling, and a desire to see and express things in novel ways.

Sexual interests and proclivities have been undergoing change or evolution--three planets in Scorpio, plus Venus with Pluto. This latter runs from November 4 through 28. We have discussed it. How have your feelings and attitudes toward sex changed during this period? It ain't over yet! Some may have become more aware of their embedded sexual proclivities and dealt with them to change or improve them or make them less threatening or disturbing. To do that one has to first face them, so it can look like going backward before going forward. 

Purposiveness and patience are strong (Jupiter trine Saturn, lasting till nearly the end of January). That could manifest solidly today because Luna is in good aspect with both. Mercury sextile Pluto gives adaptable and persuasive mentality.

The daily poems are based solidly on the degree symbols given by three different clairvoyants, two in the nineteenth and one in the twentieth century, and thoroughly tested by me over a period of 52 years. I believe if you read the poem again at the end of the day, or the next day looking back over the previous day, you will see how relevant those symbols are to what you experienced. They are relevant symbols, so if you let your consciousness reflect on them and see hidden connections with your experiences they will speak to you.

*Unveiling a Wise Path*

Mercury's conjunction with Saturn as he moves forward, increasing speed, suggests tough but satisfying mental work, research. Einstein had that conjunction in his birth-chart (in Aries; now it's in Scorpio). Secrets and mysteries are pried open, not without creaking hinges. 

Manifold variety is intriguing. You may wish to buy too much. Window-shopping is sometimes enough, until a clearer choice emerges. You know where your bread is buttered and how to protect and foster career and income. An impetuous mood can be thrilling and impel you in fascinating directions. There are deep loyalties among people which are rarely spoken but felt and trusted. 

The words in yesterday's report remain relevant. The significance of today's poem will be clearer after the day has ended.

Signal limitless potentials. Beyond the fountain

Stands a cross bathed in solar splendor.

All this security enables the would-be gardener,

Who finally picks up the harrow to battle weeds.

The tiger watches the girls, who laugh at the

Lazy worker, who ribs the girls with a harsh

Bon mot. The tiger prowls elsewhere; the sun goes down

While the cross and bas-relief speak wordlessly.

}Slumbering Skills Awakening{

After the void-of-course period begins, it may be well to liberate yourself, modify plans or be open to the new, even be amused. People may be ostentatious and vain. Some will spend too much on medicine or health supplies. Some will feel philosophic or religious differences keenly and suppress them or blurt them out. There is research and questing into whatever fascinates you most about your job. There can be ardent love needs and mutual attractions, probably going nowhere but yielding spice to everything.

There are honesty, sincerity, and willingness to work--bestowed by Jupiter's trine with Saturn, which is increasing and reaches a peak in December. When sincerity combines with good judgment, you know what you are doing and feel happy about it. (The lazy gardener above is indigenous to this day, perhaps, and the sun's square with Neptune about which we shall speak soon.)

It seems that much of the strife in politics, whether internationally, in regard to terrorism, or in the U. S. centering around both the Tea Party and the 99 per cent movement, is a reflection of the square between Uranus and Pluto. It is very long-lasting--off and on, mostly on, from April 2008 until February 2020--that is, by a ten-degree orb, which I accept completely. To look at its most critical effects one could hone that down to a 6-degree orb, which I have not done today but before long I may report it. At any rate, we are at the heart of it now and shall be through 2015. It has to do with individuals (Uranus) protesting corporations (Pluto) and what they do to individuals. It has to do with individuals (Uranus) protesting big government (Pluto) and what it does to individuals. Whether one considers government or corporations the major enemy determines which side of the political spectrum one identifies with. Pluto is something collective which is "too big to fail" or "too big to be kicked around." But beware! The power of the individual is not to be sneezed at. Perhaps individuals are learning how to cooperate to "kick around" the big guys who exploit them. It is indeed a long process.

Mars sextile Jupiter, exact now, is very helpful. It is directness, honesty, being oneself fearlessly, and using all one's talents and skills in a straightforward manner. You may also admire someone else who is doing that, and both could benefit by mutual admiration and cooperation.

A bike and toys signal a kid with opulent parents;

He comes to play on crutches. A late apple hangs

From a tree, grasped by the wanderer before the bowman

Could pierce it. The boy sits at a marble table 

To draft a scheme on paper held down by pebbles.

The clouds grow dark; wind ruffles the parchment.

The fairies retreat to the shadows. The boy traces

A royal coat of arms, his family's. The sun returns;

Clouds white once more pile up and cast a blessing.

}Developing Expertise{

It's another week before the Bright Hermetic Epoch begins--Mercury is still recovering from its three-week retrograde period, moving slowly. But you may be sensing how the next couple of months into January might unfold and feel optimistic about it. 

Yesterday's forecast (apart from the poem) remains pertinent.

Your mind is able to grasp difficult matters connected with your career or skill. You may feel separated from someone unless you make special efforts to be in touch, and even then the tendency on both sides is to feel unloved. This can be overcome through mystical awareness which basks in universal non-grasping love. It seems that work is favored over other interests. When you settle down to that, all looks brighter. Group projects apart from your job are also "work" in this context.
