}Convictions Examined, Flouted, and Flaunted{

1  Many are finding that their practical thinking (Mercury) and spiritual thinking (Jupiter) are mixed up together or intertwined. In order to focus on practical matters and get them done, you have to have some idea of your spiritual or philosophical orientation, because without that you feel at sea. In order to devote time to philosophic or spiritual search or cogitation, you need to have basic practical matters taken care of. Jupiter and Mercury are each in the other's sign, that is, in what astrologers from ancient times have called mutual reception. You might benefit from imagining yourself a monk (Christian, Buddhist, Hindu or other) who has to do what I just said in order to get on with his life.

2  A more outwardly daring side of you wants to get on with it and hit the mark, whatever you are doing. It's a military trend, that is, effective discipline and timing in order to win. You persevere despite disappointments, with a firm will. What could interrupt this is time-out for a little relaxation in a place where people refresh themselves such as a bar or restaurant. Then you get back to your slowly but surely manifesting intentions.

3  You are impelled toward things which could narrow your focus and confine you, one after another. What starts you on this precarious path is a search for bargains or unusual gains by inspecting and choosing things you could purchase or invest in with time and energy. Fine, so long as this doesn't get you too far from duty which you need to fulfill. Your rear needs to be protected while you press forward on the front. You could disobey your own "rules of the game" defiantly and get in trouble.

4  Protocol could be important, to keep things harmonious, that is, adjusting to what others expect. This is a discipline which might seem meaningless but could make the difference in terms of opportunities. You have a mission to accomplish and you feel strong and secure as you endeavor to do that, clad in the garments or wearing the insignia, as it were, which show the world who you are.

5  Setbacks often precede a recapture of poise. When disappointed in the way people treat you (as if you believed they were denigrating you), you can clear away the debris of disillusionment and find your way. At some moments you might feel you have little to live for, until you regain composure and believe again in your future.

6  Your dignity depends much on your self-discipline. It would be well to guard against moral paralysis which makes you apathetic and weary. Physical strength will revive with a revival of morale and virility, aided by a quick simple demonstration of personal skill.

7  With Mars and Mercury square Jupiter, while conjunct, and while we are in the |karmically difficult third| of this week, people could be vindictive concerning their loyalties. "My country (clan or group), right or wrong." This could be happening on a large scale many places in the world. Some individuals, though aware of this trend around them, will ignore it deliberately in order to attend to their own basic business, and that could be wise. When this paragraph is combined with paragraph 1, there are attempts to convince or convert others, whether in politics, religion or other loyalties. It is likely you will want to do this whether or not you sense that it is futile; and of course it is not always so, provided mutual respect is maintained. The day when we will respect one another's worthy convictions, even when not sharing them, seems near at hand, yet too remote for comfort.

}Restoring Faith{

1  The Dark Hermetic Epoch, which began yesterday, has its charms, including dreaming and daydreaming. It is the "out of pattern" period when people tend to do the unexpected. Today you might daydream of someone beautiful or handsome, charming or prepossessing.

2  A division between the humdrum or ordinary and the transcendental is apparent. When you feel material affairs are slipping away from you, you may attain deeper spiritual illumination. This could happen anywhere, including a place where you share refreshment in company. It is well to prevent bitterness and isolation within yourself. Look to companions, even strangers, to pull you out of yourself.

3  If the force of circumstances pushes you around, realize you still have choices. Smaller choices, as a foothold, can lead to larger ones. You may analyze your own motives, and others', to the point where you see clearly what makes people tick. That does not have to be depressing!

4  Conscience can keep you aligned with what you most certainly believe. This can happen when you realize you have slipped away from faith in your ideals. When hobbling on the crutches of injured or abandoned faith, you need to get a more secure foothold in your mind so you can restore contentment and quiet happiness.

5  Refined or refining enjoyment or recreation is good for you, releasing you from too much paranoia about people around you. It is good to protect yourself from whatever is wrong in people, but to do this gently and smoothly, as if brushing away flies or gnats, so you don't get worried and depressed. Then you can use and appreciate available facilities and comforts.

6  Who is in charge, and who wants to be? People give unheeded warnings to one another. Someone summons you to do this or that and you rebel. Or you try to awaken someone to a responsibility and get a violent response. It is most certainly important to control temper, and avoid saying or doing anything which could call forth an angry reaction.

7  In the final day of the Old Moon it is important to keep one's thinking and action calmly unified, rather than become fragmented and therefore lost. You may feel separated from people. You can say or do something which gets their favorable attention, briefly, but it doesn't last and you feel dejected again. Well, you had you moment of glory, didn't you? It is okay also to revel in the past, in memories or his-story or her-story, your-story. The past lives again in Dark Hermetic Epochs, and often to one's advantage.
