~Repose~
The symbols for today, determined by a regular formula, are remarkable. Two depict failure because of laziness and two depict constructive repose. We are being encouraged to rest but wisely, not carelessly.

A man sleeps on a bundle of clothes. Over him is a
Vulture, on one side a serpent, on the other a leopard
About to spring. Self-indulgence renders him unsafe,
Though not realizing it. Meanwhile a bear sleeps beneath
/
A tree surrounded by a swarm of bees. His heedless
Indolence and fatalism could end in tragedy.
Some sedentary individuals resemble a group of
Cattle browsing in the sunshine. Their domestic life
/
Is contented, self-possessed, and happy. An unambitious
Calling has much to recommend it. Patience is a
Form of work. There could be a scene of contentment
And happiness in luxury, with people reading on
/
Davenports. Not lost in needless softness, they
regenerate their powers though strengthening repose.
