Things are brightening. One focus is interesting connections with fascinating people; another is career and business matters straightening out in a deeply satisfactory manner. 

The stresses we have felt are still here in one form or another but we seem on top of them. The work we have had to do weeding out undesirable factors from our lives has been partly successful; that is a blessing. You can be comfortable with the sides of you which are unique, not immediately understood by most individuals and so considered sometimes peculiar. You are finding more and more how to fit them in with everything else in your life and with others' needs and wishes, even with the business world's requirements.

The hassles are with us and don't want to let up. Some of them can be harrowing. Mercury is slowing down and goes retrograde next Thursday. The effects of this are already being felt as symptoms of what I have termed the Dark Hermetic Epoch. When the moon is also void-of-course as much of today, one can feel helpless or lost. So it is well to remain calm, hopeful, and determined to keep putting one foot ahead of the other in the areas of your life which mean the most. 

It is wise to avoid the worthless or pointless, or the side paths which, in afterview, will have been a waste of time. Yet it is good to adhere to your own distinctive path, the one which is yours specially, for it gives something to the world no one else can give--even when you feel you don't know exactly what you are doing or why.

If you are having an easy time of it, I believe you are in a privileged minority. It seems that crises involving past karma, past "stuff" you need to take care of, are the lot of most while the Grand Square, loose and then tight, tight and then loose, but continuing, presses upon us (partly because both Venus and Mars slow down and go retrograde during it, although Venus turns direct today at 12:50p PT | 3:50p ET | 8:50p UT). 

The New Moon occurs a little after that at 1:40p PT | 4:40p ET | 9:40p UT. We may be feeling that we have gotten over one particular hard spot, at least, or are prepared to face the rest with more valor and optimism. Yet the |difficult third| of this week is with us making for pessimism as usual. Faith is required.

Watch out for a void-of-course period going on during a |difficult third|, as today. Worries and upsets are likely unless you hold on to your faith. If nothing is pressing on you this Saturday, you could use is as a Sabbath rest period for prayer and meditation, or relaxation and renewal in ways which make sense for you. 

Despite the "issue" oriented trend, which requires you to face such issues, some of them continuing over from the past as things you have to settle or clear away, there is human kindness or gentleness, and a desire to give, both on your part and the part of others. 

There is a deeper trend, philosophic thought about the nature of human relations which seem so changeable. Do you need friends? Or not? And how do you reconcile friends with your need to be true to yourself? Can it be done? Yes, but it is not always easy. Plus, you want things at a distance which can only be obtained over the "long haul." You can attend to some of those without losing friendship. It is evident that the Dark Hermetic Epoch is upon us. It is a good time!--if one understands how to live it. It is as good as night-time; it is because of that analogy that I labeled it "Dark." (Cosmic Piper is the total and absolutely only discoverer of these cycles and their meaning, back in the late 1970s.) It has to do with the past. Yesterday I had to find something in connection with old financial records (which a lot of us will have to deal with in the next two months to March 20 when the Bright epoch begins), sought it in the trunk of my car, and found surprising old treasures--a photo of beloved departed relatives, a belt with a departed friend's name branded into it, and books I did not remember I had but desired to read at once! Of course there was not time for that. You will find you want to dive or delve into the past during this period. The past comes alive.

Someone from that past who was loving, gentle, and influential, making friends in high places, will come to mind. She or he fed the world from her hands, spiritually or materially, with solicitude for the well-being of all. A written record bears record to her or his lasting gifts to the world.

Someone very beautiful who is also devotional and loves rituals is important to you. 

The pursuit of knowledge is important, especially in career fields. It leads on to a mission of giving or sustaining those who are your clients, customers or beneficiaries.

Are human relations changeful? We all know it! You may be experiencing this disturbing fact strongly. There is a part of you which has no need of companionship. "Never less alone than when alone." The absence of outward friends opens up a realm of inward connections to invisible ones who do not need constant attentions. Eternal verities may be abstruse, yet yield true perspective.

There is gain through manual labor, attending to things you can move, arrange, clean, organize. This may be preparation for better links with people from a distance. Some of them may be vain, self-centered, loving their bodies and appearances more than any other human being, yet artistic and sympathetic in immediate contact.

Being adaptable yet confident and hopeful is wonderful. Then you do not resent whatever you have to face from authorities or governmental or business organizations, or the work which is your career at this point. Then you joy in the creative concern for others which is the essence of any real endeavor.

Yes, the Dark Hermetic Epoch is upon us! I did not mention it in yesterday's report, but it began Wednesday at 12:57p PT | 3:57p ET | 8:57p UT. It lasts until March 20 (always slightly less than two months). It is normal; occurs almost half the time; so nothing to worry about; but those of you who have written me telling me how much it means to you realize that it definitely means "something"! Outer things are slower, usually, or harder to contain within ordinary limits and habits, while inner things become alive and one prefers the inner to the outer world so that one can let the latter get out of hand. It is good to (a) allow oneself extra time to play, amuse oneself, meditate, pray, read, write, and so on, while (b) making sure one attends to ordinary business at least sufficiently to prevent problems. It is a balancing act. Some of one's outer business and daily scheduling is bound to get out of kilter frequently, so one has to be ready for that and bounce back one way or another.

[For those new to these reports, the word "Hermetic" refers to the planet Mercury of whose four-month cycle in relation to the earth and the sun the Dark Epoch is almost one-half.]

Despite the void-of-course later in the day, today is likely to be smoother than Wednesday. 

There is softness, pliancy and sympathy. People are longing for the basic delights of human relationship in informal spontaneous ways. 

There can be melody and harmony, with high appreciation of the gracious and subtle in music or the arts. There is a profound level of mystical penetration. In one's melancholy moods one links with those beyond the pale of what we call "death." Of course this is elevating as well as melancholy. 

It is exhilarating just to be with people, in one's work for example. Both superiors and co-workers are releasing personality-tensions through association with one another. There is poetry, or song-lyrics; a "whistle while you work" path to success.

Many are gathering together in mind the fruits of a lifetime. You sense what you have gained or what has been given you by the Supreme. Many will want to share that with others indirectly, or release the perfume of self, the essence of hope, and let it permeate the atmosphere. Voila! We are alive together, whatever the issue.

Someone in authority has dignity deriving from his ability to establish trust and confidence in everyone. He is never at a loss. He or she is associated with persons of high estate. He is able to bring security to many, including yourself, through varied gifts or skills. 

Forbearance and suavity lead to favor. One can sense what people want, or need to hear, and fulfill their needs or wishes smoothly so that they remain hopeful, and place their trust in you. That could include some in high positions. Unconditioned friendliness brings new facets of everyone into play.

People are thinking about travel; maybe planning or dreaming about vacation plans for later in the year. There is social hope in this, a dream of crowds of strangers who somehow fulfill one's wish to be a vibrant part of humanity. 

There is also effort and struggle, a need to keep up with the grand square in cardinal signs, which pressures us to get on with the essentials of our lives we would only avoid to our peril. Some of this involves accounting (maybe taxes) or keeping correct and useful records. At times this seems to go slowly or to be confusing. One can untangle it slowly rather than fiercely, for better results.

There is also a need to release tensions through unlimited, free human relationships. Some of these are with people who have been successful through the arts, or gentle sciences such as botany or astronomy. We rise above ourselves through the successes of others.

Designs for acquisition, to make your future or retirement wonderful, are likely to be moving along well. There is danger of diverging too much from your own plans when there is interference from individuals or institutions which seem to be robbing you of wealth or energy. Finding answers to that is possible while staying close to home or headquarters and taking intelligent initiatives despite confusion around you.

Perseverance and resignation are keys. What seem setbacks or losses are temporary and the more you keep on through them the stronger you will be ultimately. Some things cannot be changed for the time being though they will change wonderfully at last. Moving from one needed area of activity to another again and again could keep momentum when interest lags or doubts intervene.

Taming the mind is possible and fruitful. Study is good, and educational institutions or courses, or your own program of learning. You are training yourself as if you were training a loved horse to do what is required. Sharing all this with interesting or attractive people is exhilarating and facilitates progress on all lines.

There is the pleasure or learning and teaching, of conditioning oneself and others. There is the joy of just being with people when they let themselves be themselves unguarded.

An old place you find intriguing may call you to it; it seems romantic because of links with the past. And then there are the calls of nature toward sensual indulgence, perhaps erotic arousal, something thrilling and noteworthy (of which you might be ashamed to speak).

People want to luxuriate together, sharing their bodily presence. Some are poetic and gentle, giving forth the success of their compositions, or talented attempts at a craft or art.

You want to develop your potentials and those of a friend. This could be in exhilarating situations. You feel that someone personifies your ideal. This is what life is all about! And where anyone falls short, there are favorable influences making for a gathering together of the things, ideas, interests, people which make life meaningful for you. 

Very interesting people turn up. They may be old or new friends. Some can turn their hands to varied skills or talents or slant their minds in many directions of interest. All this is reminiscent of something wonderful from your childhood, or the past of the human race, with romantic overtones.

And so there is opportunity for social connections in surprising ways. What seems like an unpromising place to go or group of people or meeting could turn out to be full of interest--even glorious satisfaction and mutual exhilaration.

One factor is "the struggle for existence," which is pronounced. It includes financial records or accounting. Another is remarkable pleasures which can happen no matter the other pressures.

You are capable of drifting into or ascending into a good position. This is with the aid of someone with a religious or spiritual orientation such as a rabbi, pastor or guru. 

Someone older who is gathering together the fruitage of a lifetime, in actuality or in consciousness, could be helpful to you. Likewise someone artless and youthful, simple and innocent. The varieties of humanity across the generations can be pleasing no matter what the minor ordeals you face.

Dreams and visions are wonderful and help you get through the day's pressures. When the void-of-course begins, they could persuade you to drop everything. It would be wise to finish ordinary business or routine as much as possible. Then you can burst forth into something fresh and free, or try your hand at something new.

There is glory and adventure in the scholastic life, whether for junior or advanced scholars, children in grade school or doctoral candidates. New worlds to explore, mentally if not physically. And there is the heritage of the wise ones on whom one can depend to straighten out one's orientation to all this knowledge, and one's sense of values. On that one can rely.

The patterns are difficult, so the challenge is to rise above them through faith and persistence. Deeper artistic, literary or spiritual interests will help.

In fact, study of deep questions could go very well. You may sense the tragedy of life at some level, but should be careful you don't glory in others' sufferings in any way. That is a subtle temptation too many yield to--not good for the soul. You may sense someone else doing this, and learn from it.

Your heritage is there for you--grandparents (perhaps in the invisible), a religious or spiritual lineage, much of which you may not be conscious yet is supporting you, especially if you tune in to it. Poetry, gentleness, and the arts lead to success.

Strife, wrath, anger are poisons and it is well to be on guard against them. It is well to be discreet so you don't arouse suspicion in anyone, yet confident in those who have shown themselves friends. You can trust them with much, as long as you are careful not to shock or upset them pointlessly.

It is possible to please people in multiple ways because you have a talent or two which can do that. Yet at the end of the day you want to comfort those important to you--bring them home from the world's pain and anxiety with your hand on their shoulder.

Someone could persuade you to do almost anything, he or she is so gentle, harmonious and inoffensive. You feel a spiritual presence as you decide how to act in each situation and may find that your heart's directions are the best of all when they come from the soul rather than from selfish passions.

We have come out of the briars of the |difficult third of this week| and Luna is in good aspect with major benefic planets. This should be a happy Sunday.

The secretive, mystical, and profound plays a solid role in your thoughts and those of a friend. You think of many factors close and afar which require you to cultivate memory and sharp awareness.

A spiritual and ethical heritage is real and alive. Through someone it encourages you to think of truer values. Someone with a poetic and subtle disposition may be an ally. He or she could be illustrious or become so.

Yet there could be harshness and even rage when someone feels he or she has been betrayed through sedition or unfair tactics. But beyond that there is purity and self-giving in those touched by something higher, who realize that their previous choices of partner or friend must remain valid if their lives are valid. So there is an invitation to renew all that has been lovely or harmonious before, while the moon approaches a sextile with Jupiter, trine with Pluto, and late at night a trine with Venus.

There is entertainment, or you may entertain. People let their talents come out boldly, and have more of them than they had realized. Some may sense that they are stuck in a groove they need to modify if they are to continue with previous successes. What worked before needs to be abandoned, modified or replaced with something more perspicuous. 

There is power of expression. Any persecution or failure of fidelity in the past can be transcended smoothly. Those who have teaching roles or have been trained (or self-trained) to guide their fellow human beings may be in their glory, if they avoid adopting a superior attitude.

A lack of ambition, so that one does very ordinary things, might be appropriate. Another part of you wants to achieve notice or notoriety through doing something spectacular. Yet this is something just beginning to assert itself. 

When people can't sense the straightforward honest path, they lurk and sulk, trying to figure out where their advantages lie, and appear suspicious. They need to be patient while they discover links to people of high estate who can help them be what they are in their better selves.

Contrast between varying old and new life-styles, maybe generations, includes competition plus cooperation so that the harsher forms of strife can be avoided. If not, there could be serious conflict resulting in the disintegration of major plans.

You can impress people with just about anything you want to try, because your attempt is based on past experience subconsciously; therefore you sense what will work.  You want to win. You are up for a race or contest, a sport or quick competition.

Opposing too many things, or everything, is not a good idea. Not everything is against you or your enemy. You may feel you have to use subterfuge or something bordering on the dishonest (though you would not admit it to be that). Things diverge away from what makes ordinary common sense. It is well to avoid perverse actions. If the honest course is sometimes hard, it is yet the only one which will prevent serious disadvantages and defeats.

It is important to keep trusting in whatever is most reliable and ordinary, because if you start to doubt it an fight against it you would be the loser. 

Innate courage overcomes obstacles of heritage or birth. You plod until you get where you want to be. You will be popular at various moments, then feel that the moment of glory has passed. Yet a basic strength in you will persist until it comes again.

An antisocial or perversely selfish trend should be resisted. Success is likely to come through paths of trust in those who have already attained much, who are illustrious in their spheres. 

Chemistry or food preparation or anything scientific or formulaic can get your attention because it offers usable answers. It would be better to take your time with something of that nature than to get all flustered and angry and fight city hall or the settled course of things in the human, political, economic world. That would be a losing battle, but learning something scientific or practical a winning one.

You can try anything you like and gain some modest success with it or demonstrate it to others in a colorful manner. You may face some individuals who seem crazy or actually insane; or are lost mentally for the time being, pursuing chaos and confusion through weak intellect. This could be creative if it doesn't diverge too far into unreality.

Such divergence is essentially dishonesty, though it may not seem so to the one who diverges from what is straightforward. It is well to be scrupulously self-aware so that one does not provoke quarrels or aggression. Then there is a chance to make everything, if not normal, then at least bearable while everyone regains an intelligent orientation gradually.
