~Recovering Orientation~
Richly attired, he has lost his foothold and is
Falling to the ground. Family tradition and prestige
Were lost in decadence. Now he is floundering in
Mid-ocean on a raft, exiled and isolated.
/
He counts the sun's risings, settings, the moon's
Course by a mechanical sanity-saving system.
At last he's cast up on an island-garden
Filled with trees affording fruit; he learns
/
To prune them. All his opportunities long-lost
Surge again within imagination, to be
Reformulated while re-establishing himself
As an immortal being. Then he could become
/
A master instructing pupils, a coach of self-
Orientation and directed destiny.
