Easter is the most important holiday of the year for me, celebrating as it does the profound truth that wrongs can be righted and wrong-doers redeemed. It is on this day -- and every day -- that we must bring to mind what Aslan called the deeper magic of the universe: To give freely of oneself to right the wrongs of others is a protective cloak, restoring both redeemer and redeemed to new and unending life. To me, our shared work for a peaceful, healthy, and free tomorrow is an Easter story. One of thousands, millions of Easter stories of new hope unfolding daily across our sacred land. 1 It's Good Friday, or God's Friday, when we mourn the crucifixion of Jesus our Saviour. (If you don't believe that Jesus is the Saviour, I recommend reading, slowly and thoughtfully, the Gospel of John.) 

2 It is the 12th day of a Dark or Slow or Confusing or Backtracking or Internal Hermetic Epoch lasting until May 12. Difficult, often, though spiritually awakening, sometimes.

3 Saturday is the peak day of a |Karmically sobering, challenging third| of this week, as is Friday while I'm writing. 

4 For whatever reason, I feel terrible.

5 A poll on Twitter today showed that 82 per cent of respondents feel that every thing has been very hard "lately." 

6 It seems to me that often it is just a mistake for astrologers, including yours truly, to predict "good" or "easy" versus "bad" or "hard" times. The planets do not have that much control over us; we have to assume responsibility for how each day and each week goes.

7 So then should I give up these forecast-meditations?

8 What do you think?

9 I expect to continue, though humbled. We seem to be at a turning point in world, human, consciousness and I don't think anyone totally knows what it is.

But what has been going on in the past week makes me feel that I am right about the Dark Hermetic Epochs (this one from March 19 through May 12). Hard but not terrible. Upsetting often but also revealing. "Out of pattern" in manifold ways, which can be either frustrating or refreshing.

Example: I said yesterday that I was going to go out for a drink. I did. It was not a lot of fun. I had a White Russian and sipped it while listening to something on my phone in a corner of the bar, watching other patrons walking around, seemingly in circles. Not fun. I left much earlier than I had planned. The bartender looked as if he was not having an easy time of it either, but was pretending.

I walked to a grocery store and felt weary. It was drizzling rain. People on the street seemed unhappy, as if they didn't know where they were going or why.

Home, I continued to watch "The 3 Body Problem" on Netflix, which I have not been watching for weeks. Someone on Twitter recommended it. I found it getting worse, not better, glorifying death and destruction, sadistic. Not for me, yet I admit the plotting kept my interest up to a point.  

Friday and Saturday seem like more of the same, an "out of pattern" morass. I do not feel like writing about the next Fortnight, which begins Tuesday April 2 and ends Monday April 15. It does not look like a bad chart at all but I am leery of promising anything good. The center of it is the New Moon and Eclipse of Monday April 8, which is getting a lot of publicity and press coverage. I do not regard eclipses as baneful unless they make harsh aspects to other planets, and this one does not. 

Still, it's a Dark Epoch. I listened to Annie Jacobsen talk for 3 hours with Lex Fridman about nuclear war. Not cheery. Yet it could happen any time. Instead of thinking about that and how to prevent it, people entertain themselves by thinking about a fictional takeover of our planet by a far distant interplanetary culture four hundred years from now? Or about who can kick or throw a ball in the right direction? What are we doing?

I could say, Happy Easter, but I would recommend, to make it happy, reading in the Gospel of John.

I am having a peculiar day. Things seem bollixed up (while I write on Thursday). What about you?

Little things which make things seem awry:

1. The moon is in Scorpio until Friday afternoon. This is the sign of the moon's "fall," for it is "exalted" in Taurus, the sign opposite Scorpio. Moods can be down or scrambled. I had a lot of noise from the neighborhood. A scheduled Zoom meeting had to be started three separate times. I feel weary and just want to go out for a drink!

2 We are in the Dark Hermetic Epoch until May 12, not terrible but subject to unexpected changes and whims. Mercury shall go retrograde April 1, the Fool's day, until the 25th. Be prepared for "out of pattern" events and choices. 

Such as: My choice to NOT write a regular sonnet-forecast for Friday and go out for a drink instead.

But I expect to post a fore-taste of the coming Fortnight, April 2-15, sometime Friday.

In the bar I will read uplifting spiritual literature on my phone and communicate with people on X. 

It seems that I need a break. How are things with you?

As you can see from the lunar data given below, the weekend including Friday is somewhat dismal, the melancholy of Saturn, as evidenced Friday by the endless media and social-media dwelling on Kate Middleton's announcement about her illness. That is very Saturnine, as is all illness, though she handled it in a somewhat Jupiterian way (Venus is making a sextile with that planet), admired by many because she emphasized healing and hope. Perhaps by Sunday afternoon-evening the mood shall be lighter.

This is an edited version of last weekend's report. I think it bears re-thinking.

We have a mostly beneficent sea change in both of the long-term charting methods I have been led to employ through decades of research. A new Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch begins Tuesday the 19th, extending through May 12th. A new Soli-Lunar Fortnight begins Sunday March 17, extending through April 1. To my hopeful yet critical eye it appears that this Fortnight, and the following one, April 2 through April 15, shall be easier, less stressful, than the one we exited last weekend (March 3-16). Of course they are not without problems or issues.

March 17(Sunday)--April 1 (Monday):

The harshest aspect of the previous Fortnight, Mars square Uranus, is gone. I shall not say giddily that the Ukraine war, or the Israel-Hamas war, shall cease, but they should be more amenable to negotiation.

Perhaps the hardest feature of the new Fortnight is Venus conjoined to Saturn, the "nobody loves me" aspect. It can also feel like "I don't love anybody." But we have learned to live with such feelings on many occasions in the past and can this time also. There is a tendency to separation or isolation, but this could be realism about the proper times to go it alone or with just minimal, businesslike associations. "Every man for himself" does not have to be contempt or disdain for anyone, but a refusal to be sentimental while looking out for one's own interests. However, any tendency to cruelty, in even mild forms, should be resisted or extirpated. Saturn aspects are karmic and one should avoid making new bad karma while working out patiently the old.

However, the stars perplex astrologers by being contradictory, so together with the hardest Venus aspect we have the sweetest, Venus sextile Jupiter. Saturn may curtail the limits of love and friendship, but Jupiter makes what is left gracious, warm and pleasurable. Saturn can be loyalty to old friends and family, sometimes when they seem wearisome, but Jupiter being harmonious with Venus fosters graciousness, sincerity, popularity, sociability, comfort and festivity. This is made even more secure by Uranus's sextile with Venus, welcoming diversity and uniqueness in people. 

There is only one square in the Fortnight chart, that of the retrograde Mercury with Pluto. This is a hint of AI and other kinds of research, or unusual, concentrated mental exercise developing insight and power. At worst it could be nervous fanaticism or overeagerness concerning pet interests. One does not have to know everything in order to secure competent orientation. In Marc Edmund Jones's language, this aspect is 'an inquisitive approach to obsession' and one might reflect on that. What obsession of yours is inviting you to further inquiry? 

Charubel's symbols for the degrees of the zodiac seem to click well with past fortnightly charts. Saturn is in an ominous one, indicating possible black magic or a desire to hurt people. We have had enough of that! It may be that cruelty in many will be 'flushed out' so that it can be recognized and rendered harmless. Choose your villain on the world stage, there are plenty. 

More happily, we have Springtime symbols: 'I see green everywhere; every object a dull green. At the same time everything is on the move.' One may find that, despite many changes, one is 'as far off from the goal as ever.' However, the magical glasses of the Land of Oz give to everything a harmonizing green hue! 

One of my favorite symbols is 'A green field surrounded by shrubberies; a nice villa on the northeast side of the field.' One day this week I walked to a restaurant to the northeast of my home, one I hardly ever visit, and had an unusual, uplifting adventure. You might try an excursion to the northeast of home, job, or your usual haunts. Charubel says, of the enjoyer of the nice villa, or of ourselves in this Fortnight, 'One possesses an adequacy to keep him; and with this he has the disposition to be content.'
