I noted years ago, as a young student of astrology, that when the moon went past my natal moon's position I felt out of sorts and often quite depressed. I learned to find ways to keep my optimism up, thanks to this astrological heads-up. (The moon goes past every one of one's natal planetary positions every month.)

I just checked the natal chart of Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden singer who took his own life Thursday evening in Detroit after a concert. He was born with Saturn at 4 degrees Pisces, opposed to both Uranus and Pluto in Virgo. This is known a a "drug axis," that is, Pisces-Virgo. I do not know what his drug usage was except that according to the police report, he said to his wife just before his death that he had taken too much of a supposed anti-depression drug, Ativan.   (Rolling Stone report). What is very interesting is that he was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. Detroit (Eastern) time, when the moon was at 0 degrees Pisces 52', a few degrees from his Saturn and opposing the Virgo planets.  Would it have helped if he had known this difficult time of the month was upon him, so that he could have realized that his state of mind was temporary? Perhaps. That is one value of astrology: Showing us that things will not be forever terrible, but related to transits of the planets which shall pass before long.

Cornell's birth-chart has Jupiter in Taurus, sign of the throat and voice, a good position for a singer. The rest of his chart is interesting but I shall not go into it at this point.

As for Donald Trump, one does not need astrology to see that he is going through a difficult period. Pondering his life as related to the Fortnightly chart for May 18-31, it seems like a real adventure, which of course it would be since he is starting out on a nine-day foreign trip. It includes speeches to Muslims about their religion and a meeting with the Pope, which certainly is in line with Mars in Gemini opposing Saturn in Sagittarius throughout the journey. That is a "let's get serious" aspect in relation to religions. The journey also includes a visit to Bethlehem and sacred Christian sites. Sagittarius is the sign of religions; also of foreign travel. Trump is sun-sign Gemini. Quite fascinating how all this is playing out. We shall see whether "the art of the deal" can be applied to religious conflicts. I for one wish him well in this, for after all he is the president and has the power to influence the world in various ways. May it be for the better.

Although so far as I know Trump does not have an astrologer (!) maybe someone in his entourage reads Cosmic Piper, for his journey begins the day before the Bright Hermetic Epoch begins (Sunday the 21st, for two months until July 24).

I hope things will be getting easier or at least less confusing for him, us, and you.
