Forecast for Friday 3 April 2015

Friday 3 April 2015

}May We and He Make it Good{

I observe Good Friday, although I find it hard to find what the "goodness" in it is--I leave that to theologians--

I most definitely believe in Jesus the man, Jesus the Son of Man, as he called himself over and over in the Gospels (only a couple of times did he say Son of God), and Jesus the Son of God, and Jesus the Saviour.

I believe in Him also as Yeshua or Yehoshua, his Hebrew name, potential Messiah of all who can accept Him and live His truth, whether Jews or Gentiles.

That does not mean I believe everything that is said of the crucifixion and what it means. I do not believe that God wanted His son to be crucified. I believe God allowed that to happen--allowed the human race to do what they would with His Son. And we bear the sin of what happened then, unless we repent.

I believe also in The Innocence Project, founded by noble Jewish lawyers in the United States, which has rescued dozens of innocent men and women from prison, indeed death row. Whether they are Christian or not, they are doing redemptive work for the human race and are most blessed.

We need to find the depth behind what happened to the Saviour, deeply within ourselves, rather than spout easy doctrinal beliefs about it. Every human being, Christian or non-Christian, develops his or her individual relation with The Supreme One.

We approach the Full Moon occurring Saturday. There is intensity, with the moon forming a T square with Uranus and Pluto, plus good will from the sextiles of Luna with Jupiter and Saturn. Let us hope the tentative accords with Iran will presage even more developments in a peaceful direction, now that the Uranus-Pluto square has happened (in its exactitude) for the last time.

P. S. For those who want to go more deeply into the mysteries of the crucifixion and resurrection, there is nothing better than the Gospel of John, especially, for these days, chapters 12 through 21. This is some of the most sublime, uplifting, and revealing prose-poetry every written.
