^Shame^
The house of heartfelt shame is ready to go up in flames.
Two prim spinsters inhabiting it concealed the strife of
Unfulfilled love for too many years. They are smart
And constant, principled; but divorced from easy affection.
The ship in the ocean has many wares, destined for multiple
Ports. The men on deck are bringing them up from the hold,
Most of them wondering where they will go, what industries
Support. They feel imprisoned while setting these objects free.
She wonders if she has a career, or shall, or is merely
A woman to make others happy through goodness of heart.
She has a bottle of red wine, and handfuls of golden
Coins. She offers them all to a man who is sorely tormented.
