Messages for Weekend of January 17th and 18th, 2026
Saturday 17th; Lassitude. This is the final day of an Old (waning) moon, when extra rest may be appropriate. "A man lies upon a sheaf of corn, asleep, with viands at his side." Purgatory. At worst there could be a descent into vile self-indulgence and bad company. "Too revolting to be given" is Charubel"s comment on the symbol. Restlessness. A happier, lighter mood is brought to us by "a water sprite." Spontaneity is a necessary imaginative quickening to values. One can escape from the drab or commonplace. Definition. There can be an internalization of values, as measured and facilitated by "a sextant and compass." Some are reliable and useful guides to others because regulated by exact principles. That is a cure for the Purgatory paragraph. Moon in Capricorn Sunday 18th: The New Moon of Capricorn occurs at 11:53a PT / 2:53p ET. We're at a zero point of the winter, defined ineffably by Sri Aurobindo: "She was a point in the Unknowable. She was in That but still became not That. This shadow of herself so close to nought Could be again self's point d'appui to live, Return out of the Inconceivable And be what some mysterious vast might choose. Even as the Unknowable decreed, She might be nought or new-become the All, Or if the omnipotent Nihil took a shape Emerge as someone and redeem the world." --Savitri, p. 549 Moon in Capricorn goes void-of-course at 1:58p PT until entering Aquarius at 2:19p PT.
