The forecast for Friday contained this: " Envy in people does not always leap out but lurks. They may not devise crafty mischief but might think of it."  That was derived from the symbol "A crow, or raven, stands upon a water-pot" given by Signor Borelli something like 120 years ago. The keyword he gave for it was "envy" and his interpreter Sepharial said it indicated mischief. On Friday as I write the symbol is literally true for me and my neighborhood! For the past hour or more a group of five or so crows have been cawing raucously to each other, or fighting or arguing, or announcing their unhappiness with the world or their envy of it or of one another. I have never in my seven years in this dwelling heard such a crow-ruckus. It has been repeatedly amazing to me over the years how literal these symbols can be. That is why I use them. As for the more subtle meaning I derived from the symbol, I do not know yet what that foreshadows for the day, but we can turn all these indications toward the good; that is indeed their function and purpose.

Saturday:  Mechanics or dynamics, maybe physical, maybe technological, have a role. We use things according to the "laws" they obey or the consistency of their behavior, and need to establish what that is in order to use them profitably.

Clowning with people can have good results or pointless ones--in the latter case, if one loses respect because of it. (This might be more likely to happen during the late v-of-c period, time above.) In the former case, it levels the playing field humorously by showing how ridiculous everyone can be.

People are analyzing the Mueller report ad nauseam. I have always felt it was a mistake to look forward to it as somehow resolving any issues. It did not. It couldn't, because "what all that meant" (collusion, obstruction, etc.) depends on the eyes of the beholder: "A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses." Borrowing Mueller's eyeglasses resulted in nothing. It certainly resulted in a lot of newsprint and stuff for "talking heads" to chatter about, rather than solving the nation's problems.

When there are disappointments, or some looked-for advantage seems to be spoiled, self-restraint and contentment are a cure.

Industry and thrift, rather than luck, are your friends, and could result in successful acquisition of money and companions. 

Remembering your "reason for being" will help. Varying opinions are part of the world-milieu in which we move, but a "White dove over troubled waters" is your divine heritage. It offers dependable guidance.

Someone who seems weak or peculiar nevertheless is shrewd in financial dealings. 

Some accentuate the ridiculous in order to get a rise out of people. Their inimitable clowning is sometimes disturbing, sometimes charming.

Examining life from varied perspectives is illumining. Both people and animals experience things in variegating dimensions, whether they think they are being scientific or just playful-- "A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses." 

There is a desire to be wandering and seeking, while leaving left-over opportunities behind. That is accompanied by a yen for sensuous pleasures:  "A group of vagrants or gypsies seated around a cauldron in which food is preparing."

Envy in people does not always leap out but lurks. They may not devise crafty mischief but might think of it  

The soul's fundamental freedom is marked even during superficial excitement. Therefore even in the midst of "Wind clouds and haste" there is spiritual exaltation.

V-of-c plus |difficult third| can seem demoralizing but we have to carry on. Praying helps when it is humble and receptive.

On Wednesday Robert Mueller made further comments about his report and was on the front page of major media such as the NYT and WSJ. That is fascinating because Mars on Wednesday was at 8 Cancer (which is Cancer 9), the very degree where Donald Trump's birth Mercury lies, and the symbol for it (Charubel) is "A spider in the corner of a room intently watching the giddy dance of silly flies, as they heedlessly approach the confines of his dominion." This is of course the role Mueller has played in Trump's life. Further, it is the role Trump repeatedly tries to play in relation to his "enemies." Further, Mueller's Saturn is at 6-7 Cancer, very close to Trump's Mercury and so exacerbating that "spider" indication for him. 

There are very good reasons I use the symbols in the daily forecasts, but I admit it is difficult and complex, and I am taking a vacation from some of them. 

We may feel weak today, and wanting to just relax, like a woman in a field of violet flowers, or "Strawberry fields forever." 

Yet something strong and original may be emerging for us slowly, "A newly formed continent."

The truth is hard to find and verify and yet we make valiant attempts, and we suspect that some things are lies, or at least very misleading fictions (Mercury opposite Jupiter and square Neptune). Still we may be close to real values which will help us, "A large diamond not completely cut."

Memorial Day Epiphany

Sitting outside the Cafe Vita, on the patio on Pike Street, I feel I am basking in the current of the Capitol Hill community, and it is very pleasant on a beautiful sunny Memorial Day. People passing by are in fine moods. I have my notebook and pen to record my thoughts, and the indispensable cup of coffee on the tiny round table. A beautiful young male sits down on the pavement directly across from me and smiles. He has long dark hair and deeply expressive brown eyes. He closes them as if in yogic meditation, then opens them again to return my gaze. I feel flattered that he chose to do this as if we two were in silent communion. I say he seems like a meditating yogii and we chat a bit. I go back to my notebook and he to his musing. At length he gets up to leave and tells me "Enjoy." I am sorry he is leaving.

It is very special here.

A couple coming down the street are exalted and laughing. The young woman says to her boyfriend, very loud, "And now it all makes sense!" She sounds ecstatic. An epiphany! I gaze at her and laugh along with them. In response to her statement I say, "I like it!" She laughs in joyful recognition of my recognition. Her boyfriend looks at me smiling and says, "For now you do!" The male always has to be the skeptic. But the young woman continues to give forth peals of laughter as they disappear down the street. She announces again, "And now it all makes sense!"

I'll post the daily data as above, and perhaps other comments. Meanwhile the forecast for this week was posted last Friday and again on Monday. It includes this:  "The final indicators, for the sun and moon, are mysterious. "There is NOTHING connected with this degree. A blank. Some mystery here which I do not comprehend." (Charubel, nineteenth century clairvoyant whose given name was John Thomas.) What could I add to that? It would be sheer speculation.

CNN Meteorologist Robert Shackelford said 3.6 million people were under a flash flood watch, and 1.3 million under a severe thunderstorm watch overnight Sunday, with nearly 50 million at risk of severe weather impacts on Monday.

On Monday the moon is in Pisces, a water sign, conjoined to Neptune at 12:39p PT | 2:39p CT | 3:39p ET | ---of course that aspect affects the whole day, and Neptune is the planet of the sea and of water in general, and often of flooding. So it's a triple whammy for "too much water"--the moon's position, Neptune's position (by sign) and the conjunction of both. Both planets are square Jupiter by only three degrees, and Jupiter can be "too much" of anything and is co-ruler of Pisces.

Happy Memorial Day! And let us remember those who have given their lives in war, and all veterans. Some of us may not agree with all the policies our "commanders in chief" have pursued with military might (I vociferously opposed the Iraq war) but the men who had to suffer through them are not to be held responsible for those policies. I think of my Uncle Homer, who came home from World War II when I was about 6 years old, walking through a field of corn in his uniform to rejoin the family. I think of Evan Leddy, wonderful friend of the Higgins family and my dad, who suffered through that same war and lived on to be a remarkable, loving and beloved father and companion. 

It's a holiday so I won't do a daily forecast. Here is the report for this current week of Saturday May 25 through Friday May 31:

We continue with a happy Neptune degree suggesting that someone who has been ill in earlier years may recover later in life. May that be someone dear to you. Along with that goes the Saturn symbol, "A person ascending a spiral staircase with sunshine at the top, within a dark enclosure." This indicates someone busy through life but with small returns; nevertheless "good luck falls to his lot at the end of his days." It is always "the end of days" in relation to the past, so that means now.

Love and friendship seem better this week than last, even though there are peculiarities in the friend or loved one which make communication difficult. We may all seem peculiar to one another. So when we seek popularity (paragraph 2) we might be "barking up the wrong tree" or climbing up the wrong Maypole. Dear dear.

Further, when we talk about others we run the risk of being scandal-mongers or gossips. (Gee, I seem to have noticed such behavior online.) Charubel suggests that many will "delight in publishing what they know about everybody." This could be an amateur conductor of a newspaper or newsletter, like Freddy the Educated Pig who edited the Bean Home News. Or it could be the once-respectable NYT now degenerating into "defamation of character" on all sides. Or Breitbart or Fox News, but the villains are not all on the Right by any means, nor all on the Left. We have poor Assange besieged by what look like crazy legal troubles from all sides, because he did not keep his mouth shut, and I take no side on that because I have not studied it enough to do it justice. Of course Trump thinks he is being slandered, in return for his own slanders, and on and on. Charubel hints that we will have much more of that this week, like a bell tolling at the top of a tree.

Yet there is hope for cooperation. A man on a roof gets slates from another climbing up a ladder. They are "lovers of peace, and promoters of good works." Yes, let's have more of that. What can we do for our communities?

In lighter moments we can respond to the Uranus symbol, "Two men rowing in a boat for sheer fun" [my adaptation], and get into mild adventures for the pleasure of change and curious speculation.

It would be sheer speculation. Something connected with friendship and love, I believe. One can marvel how those with Mercury square or opposite Neptune in their birth-charts seem unable to discriminate truth from falsehood, or seem gullible as well as, perhaps, untruthful unintentionally (or, at worst, intentionally). Donald Trump is one of them. Yet they have their place in the cosmos. This week we might be prepared to expand our minds into the immeasurable or initially incomprehensible, rather than reject them out-of-hand and so perhaps lose a blessing in disguise. Some truths, or partial truths, seem like untruths until understood.

Then: "An occult degree. Someone sure to be possessed with strange influences. He or she will have a familiar or spirit companion and will be liable to obsession, the nature of which will be determined by his character." You may sense this in others, or/and in yourself. "Obsession" can be good, as in "a magnificent obsession." Demons and angels seem to vie for our loyalty. It could be a fascinating week.

I believe last week's report (posted last Friday) was successful and accurate. One segment of it: "Mars is at a degree of Cancer, the moon's sign, symbolized by "That side of the Moon which is never seen by the inhabitants of this planet."   Did you hear about the Chinese moon-rover and what it has found out? It was made public last week, during the time Charubel's symbol was current, and Charubel saw that symbol clairvoyantly in the 19th century! Yes, the rover actually went to the dark side of the moon! So let's continue with that method, using C's symbols for the coming week:

Has anyone noticed the odd fact that Theresa May is resigning in the month of May? This fits with the symbol for Jupiter in both last week's and this week's chart: "A May-pole with a crown of flowers at the top, and a man climbing to procure it." The British politicians are now climbing that pole with the wreath Theresa has left at the top of it! To secure it for themselves, of course. This is supposed to be a degree indicating someone who wants only to be popular and gives up everything else for that. Anybody you know?

Accurate observation approaches detective-level sharpness and shrewdness. This is useful for your work as well as human relations. You may also connect with someone who has that "eagle eye" toward yourself and others.

It is good to be meticulous in shaping things, caring for those dependent as well as oneself, like "Game birds feathering their nests."

Hard labor along the line of specialized interests will be rewarding ultimately. One may need seclusion for accomplishing it.

Dignity comes through being trustworthy. Then one rises to eminence through merit.

One visualizes potentials, things one would like to have or do, like a window shopper. This is constructive if one realizes that one's power of choice can in fact gain what one desires.

After Luna enters Aquarius (time above) we should feel more on top of things than we did Wednesday. 

Sometimes one person can support an enormous superstructure, organization, cult, business or other group. You may know, or know of, someone like this, prominent in the news or in your experience and thinking. Many depend on him or her for their mission, direction, or livelihood. 

"An automobile wrecked by a train" is still with us as a warning. It could have many applications, regardless of one's opinions about those involved. Donald Trump feels that not only himself but his plans for infrastructure, for example, are being wrecked by a Democratic Congress, the "train." The re-elected Joko Widodo, a good moderate president in Indonesia, feels his administration is under threat by the "train" of Islamists who despise him because he is a non-Muslim moderate. (I hesitate to add this because it might make some angry, but the "automobile" could be an unborn child and the "train" the flood of pro-abortion sentiment now current in the U. S.) If you feel threatened by a group or mass movement of some kind, you may know what this means for you and get insight into how to protect yourself.

One way to deal with that is to be secluded, working away at tasks one believes will give one security and success ultimately, as if one were the proprietor of "A Chinese laundry." The work involved is tedious yet satisfying because of its ultimate payback.

A sweeter side of the day is likely to befriend us after Luna enters Aquarius, "A troubadour stands with one foot on a rock, his instrument slung at his side, listening to the music of a cascade falling at his feet." This suggests a Bohemian trend, as an escape from the almost-ended |difficult third|, with music, art, poetry, roaming, an appreciation of the marvelous, and harmony. TGIT, Thank G*d it's Thursday.

A more domestic trend is "A woman sprinkling flowers," caring for things close by, maybe actual gardening. Beyond that there is a suggestion of monetary or business success, attaining wealth or fame (after one has graduated from the Chinese-laundry position). "A man seated on a throne, with signs of wealth around him." Voila!

\Watchfulness and Courage Prevent Suffering/

Optics, and electrical-technological matters, are highlighted, as if some genius working on them were discovering amazing possibilities. One might also apply one's intellect to the metaphysical or transcendental. If moods are low, they are better when one concentrates on what is of most interest in any field you care about.

The tornadoes in Oklahoma-Texas being forecast and discussed as I write correspond with the moon's opposition with Mars, forming Monday evening when the atmospheric disturbances were forming, exact early Tuesday and diminishing by Wednesday evening; but the damage or trouble might continue because of Luna's conjunction with Saturn today (the |karmic third| period given in the data above). I have reported here, and no other astrologer to my knowledge ever has, that high winds are frequent when Luna forms a hard aspect with Mars. This happens four times per month so it is not unusual, but the pattern can be seen if one is alert to it. Astrologers are too lazy to notice it. And, of course, as I have said dozens or hundreds of times in the past eleven years, any weather problem is likely to happen more often during the |karmically serious third| of each week. That is Luna's hard aspect with Saturn, very noticeable. After days of nice weather in Seattle it is gloomy and a little rainy today (Tuesday as I write). 

Mars's Sabian symbol is somewhat threatening, "An automobile wrecked by a train." This is not literal, most likely, but might relate to Tesla's problems with its self-driving trucks and cars. The "train" could be technology running amuck. Personally, you might need to prevent dispersion in your doings so you are alert enough to change course to prevent disaster or a lesser problem.

Eccentricity could lead to litigation. It is good to be wise, and diplomatic, in preventing strife. 

Yet it is also good to be daring and courageous when that is inescapable:  "A man scaling a wall by means of a rope ladder." Your "rope ladder" might be something you have put together patiently over the past month during this Bright Hermetic Epoch when, no matter our issues, our minds are able to fathom methods or techniques which lead to success. 

We can bring health and other problems on ourselves by being too self-indulgent--unwilling to hold back from eating when dieting, for example. A more strict control of habits could prevent the need of the "Red Cross nurse." She is dedicated to meeting the extreme needs of others and is a real heroine. You may benefit from someone like her, or see how you can be like her in some medical or non-medical context.

\From Dismal Doubt to Justified Protection/

I repeat from the weekly report posted last Friday: "A white oval figure on a very black background, which contains no forms or shapes of any kind. This is an important degree. Unfortunate through marriage. If a female, should she ever become a mother, the labor will be attended with much suffering. A very negative person, open to evil influences." (Charubel) This seems obviously connected with the current abortion imbroglio, but it has other meanings to each of us which we can discover through contemplation. We should not let evil influences get to us semi-consciously. 

"That is important, because the sun and Mercury conjoined during a Bright Hermetic Epoch mark this as an important week to get our agendas and projects in shape. We know what to do and can do it, and plan for the future successfully." In fact, today, Tuesday, is the day of the conjunction of the sun and Mercury, marking the very center of the Bright Hermetic Epoch (April 16--June 19). Have you not resolved certain issues in the past few weeks, arriving at what look like solid decisions about your plans, methods, daily schedules and agendas? You are likely to have seen a road to continuing success, if you remain alert to the signals you have been getting and may continue to get for the next four weeks.

Rage in politics keeps on, "A cat arguing with a mouse." Cats might think the opponent is a mouse, while mice might think the opponent is a cat. Both could be wrong. We are human beings trying to understand. (The cat might be the parents of an unwanted child, while the unborn one in utero is of course the mouse.)

One does not have to appear eccentric deliberately in order to make a point which is out of favor with most. It is better to avoid strife as much as possible by modifying the statement of one's position to something the other can comprehend or appreciate. 

Security may derive from good associations with someone who protects you. Or this could be a group, an organization or The Highest. There is such a thing as peaceful beneficence, after all. Luna's trines with Uranus and Venus support this, even during a |difficult third| period.

Still, keeping up with things is better than relaxing overmuch. "A sleigh without snow" suggests that one might have to sustain one's life-journey (provide the snow) in some original way (Uranus conjoined to Venus and sextile Mars).

There are indications of active philanthropy: trying to save those who are in trouble. May that be blessed and go well.

People seem unusually argumentative about politics, "A cat arguing with a mouse." They want to justify the positions they have taken. After the v-of-c begins (time above) this could go too far or go wrong or miss the mark. One might feel one is the mouse while others see one as the cat.

When one wants to be popular, yet at the same time argue for some position or viewpoint, there can be a conflict between the two desires. 

Luxurious and artistic tastes are fine in themselves but might go too far or be pointlessly wasteful. Rather than trying to enjoy too much one might better trust in the Lord to provide whatever is best.

We want to plumb experience to the depths, to know what life means, to be awakened to its finer significance. This we can do in a context of bodily wealth, comfort, and fortunate attachments. (The previous paragraph recommends a modifying moderation.)

As you may know, I have worked with the symbols of the degrees mostly in the daily charts, not trusting them as much in the longer-term periods. Yet I have never given up on a weekly method, since human life seems inevitably to be organized in those seven-day cycles, and my latest method for that seems surprisingly accurate in terms of the symbols which turn up. Those of Charubel (somewhat more than those of Sepharial or the Sabian ones) seem to work best, or to be the most immediately convincing. Let's use them for the coming week, Saturday May 18 through Friday May 24. (They seem to begin, however, on Friday evening in the Western Hemisphere, Saturday morning in the Eastern.)

The aspects are thinning out and are less intense than last week. Likewise the symbols are less aggressive. There were a lot of intense disagreements last week. People may have calmer heads this week. 

Yet some of the symbols seem depressing, unless we take them in the right spirit. For the sun and Mercury, conjoined at the very first degree of Gemini: "A white oval figure on a very black background, which contains no forms or shapes of any kind. This is an important degree. Unfortunate through marriage. If a female, should she ever become a mother, the labor will be attended with much suffering. A very negative person, open to evil influences." This seems obviously connected with the current abortion imbroglio, but it has other meanings to each of us which we can discover through contemplation. We should not let evil influences get to us semi-consciously. 

That is important, because the sun and Mercury conjoined during a Bright Hermetic Epoch mark this as an important week to get our agendas and projects in shape. We know what to do and can do it, and plan for the future successfully. 

We may do that in unusual ways: Mars is at a degree of Cancer, the moon's sign, symbolized by "That side of the Moon which is never seen by the inhabitants of this planet." Charubel says this represents "a strange character whom no one will ever understand." He has "powers unknown to the present race" and will pursue studies "with which the age is not conversant." This all reminds me of a book I just read, American Cosmic, by D. W. Pasulka, about serious scientific investigators and experiencers of UFO phenomena, and much more than that. I highly recommend it to anyone at all interested in the topic, or other paranormal phenomena. Charubel continues, "He will be a magician, but not of any known type. The powers are what I call Moon-set! Such a man is out of the ordinary groove, but he is not insane. There is ever a gulf between such a character and ordinary humanity."  What this might mean for you, only you can determine.

We have boundless resources of vitality, and can recuperate quickly from any sign of illness. You may be aware of those who have extraordinary longevity. You may demonstrate these powers yourself.

Some of our hopes and anticipations may be "too sanguine" or over-optimistic, and yet if we continue in our assigned course we may help others more than ourselves, and this will be a sure reward, not only in heaven but here and now. We are like a ferryman taking others across the stream for their benefit, not ours.

Some, less directly useful, may be like a man climbing a May-pole with flowers at the top, seeking instant popularity. 

Those who have had hard times in their early days, even illnesses which held them down, may recover and find fulfillment later in their lives. 

There can be company, adventure, and fascinating changes: "Two men rowing in a large boat on a lake." 

Some of the harsh disagreements of the past week may be conquered by one's resilient inner peace: "Two swords form a cross lying on the ground, and a man stands on them with a sceptre pointing heavenward. A person of peace; one who confides in the higher power." So may we be.

I don't want to discuss abortion here because it is a hot-button issue that gets people upset. I have my own view of it, as do you most likely. But I'll mention that on Wednesday when it became a wrenching issue again because of the Alabama bill signed into law, we were in the |Karmically serious or sobering| third of the week. Also, Luna went into the Via Combusta, or burning way, that afternoon, and people are "burning up" over the issue. Also, Venus began that day a bi-septile with Saturn, which I have seen over the years to be as painful (by a 2-degree or about four-day orb) as Venus square or opposite Saturn. The meaning is obvious:  Women (Venus) being contained or limited by Saturn (conservative morality or ethics). Also, Mars was on the verge of entering Cancer, where it is Thursday and Friday, and Mars indicates surgery and Cancer the womb. That planet is opposed to Jupiter, still in Sagittarius, which can be "the law" or legislation. Legislation opposing surgery connected with the womb. It all fits but I leave the ethics of it to you.

Friday:  Charubel warns against black magic, that is, immoral magic. With the moon in Scorpio, this could be related to sexuality; or, perhaps, tricky or unethical business deals. 

However, we are likely to have high and true insights, with the Full Moon approaching (around noon tomorrow) and the symbol (for Mars) "A man suspended over a vast level place," keyword: Contemplation. We can see things largely and completely, bringing all facets of any question together in our minds, in a remarkable manner. 

You may feel you could make a radical entrance into another place or position. Is this wishful thinking? Time will tell, but we are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch until June 20 and you may be on to something real. That person at a distance who is mysterious to you might have some answers if you approach courteously.

An eccentric or unusual vocation could bring success, as if one were "An alchemist at work in his laboratory; upon his table is much gold." 

And so there is abundant hope: "Steps up to a lawn blooming with clover." That is the springtime we now enjoy, presaging, in the fall, "A woman gathering grapes, with which she fills many baskets." We may be thrilled by what seems unusual prosperity---or at least by unusually fulfilling ways of using and enjoying what we have.
