\Impatience or True Freedom?/

It is exact at 10:22a PT | 1:22p ET | 6:22p UT. You might note what is going on about then to sense what it means for you. 

It could seem a day for dreaming, for lassitude and letting things happen or develop. Is that good or not? I leave the decision to you 

There could be thoughts of death, of the futility of everything. We need to counter that with our faith. The time given above might be specially crucial, or the several hours before and after. 

There could be a partnership between yourself and Nature, "A woman sprinkling flowers." Your care for other life forms or human beings gives you a new lease on life. 

It could be that your or others' eccentricities are causing strife and conflict. This would be Venus's exact square with Uranus. People feel that they are not understood and resent that. If you feel someone doesn't understand you, probably you could trace that to their feeling that you don't understand them. "Love" seems brittle, about to snap. It takes a great soul or spirit to prevent that. "Love your enemies; pray for those who treat you spitefully." 

Another way to approach this is through absolute liberty, "A wild horse leaping a barrier." "I don't need to be bound by their rules and petty thoughts; I am asserting my freedom adventurously, with contempt for danger." Hmm. If you can do it, wonderful, but of course common sense points out that one needs to be sure one will not make things worse. 

There is some project, whether open or secret, which you believe in and could pursue, rather than just dreaming of absolute freedom (paragraph 1). This  attempt is the stronger and more enduring the more you support it through loyalty also to some deep tradition, "An old adobe mission."

"Contemplation in a dark and gloomy place" is one of the symbols, but this could be quietly reassuring and uplifting even if a little melancholy. (Maybe it is how Michael Cohen feels after his testimony yesterday.) 

You may sense that you have brilliant gifts and psychic powers, or you may bask in someone else's display of them. 

The "Red Cross nurse" is still with us to heal wounds and worries. Or this may be yourself consoling someone else.

Analytical minds are testing things of the natural world patiently to find answers. When different minds disagree, strife and contention may be evident around you, in politics or career, but this can be mollified by a patient attitude. 

A haphazard way of sensing what is true or helpful may not be wrong, "A woman reading tea leaves." Signs and signatures may not be superstitious but surprisingly accurate. All is food for deep and rich contemplation.

Finding our way is important, and we can do it. Is that "way" uncertain or involved in controversy or confusion? Probably, because we are in a Dark Hermetic Epoch until April 16, but that is pretty normal and we have to keep our consciousness as clear as we can, not giving up on our ideals of Truth and Right. Tentative answers can be found by the searching intellect, and firm eternal answers by the faithful heart. To reach these latter we may need to give up some tatters of false beliefs or superficial temptations.

Charubel warns against "passions" or the "desires of the lower nature" in his Victorian language. Indeed they could upset the apple cart, yet if insistent they may have to be transformed rather than just ignored. I am not an expert on how to do that, but I point out the assignment!

We may feel called on to enlist for the aid of others (or someone) in a humanitarian way, like "A Red Cross nurse." 

The desire for approbation or popularity is strong, whether through one's work or some public stance or activity. To receive that, we have to maintain our "pilgrimage" toward what we feel deeply we need to do, with resignation to apparent reversals along the path so that detachment prevents us from giving up out of frustration. 

We may feel individualistic, yet pulled or pushed into a community spirit for support. In "a large aviary" there are sure to be "birds of a feather" somewhere, or someone who fits with your approach to life. This is good because the "compass" or "sextant" you use to understand things is made more precise by sharing its guidance as much as you can. Or, if some knowledge has to be reserved and unspoken, still your definition of things allows you to navigate and explore in ways which help the world as well as yourself.

^Holding On to Intangible Prospects^

A businesswoman or businessman may be important to you---perhaps cantankerous but useful. You consider your own prospects in a fresh interesting way. 

Giving is also part of the picture, in a way symbolically refreshing, as if it were Christmas.

Popularity is desired. Playing with the facts, with life and its colorful uncertainties, is one way to attain popularity, no matter how transient. 

One's aptitudes are real but perhaps not adequate to some challenge they face, so it is well to hold back from a too-blithe approach to something for which one is not ready. 

Yet persevering with something close to your heart is strengthening over the long run.  You might imagine yourself in a rustic situation, open country, dealing with the produce of the soil. That somehow is reinvigorating. Whatever your project, you can carry on with anything of which you are confident while dismissing anything premature until you are prepared for it.

The Dark Hermetic Epoch (February 19 through April 15) is with us and you are feeling it. I am sure of that, but am not sure that you are conscious of it. We feel it without being conscious of it, or of what it is.

Slowness. Dithering. Dreaming or daydreaming. Wondering where it is all going or if it is going at all. And so on. It is not too hard to perceive if you know the dates during which it is operative, which is what I just gave you. The rest you can figure out for yourself, though I will furnish the best hints and clues of which I am capable. Just work with it and you will be much better off than if you did not know about it. You can take your time more, expect less from other people, and know that things are in an intermediary stage where they seem to get more complex unless we are patient and composed. (Just as I wrote the last sentence my computer says "Oops . . . the system encountered a problem". . .  Yes, it is not at all unusual to experience more computer or technological problems during the DHE. The theme song might be:  "Yes! We have no bananas, we have no bananas today!") 

Monday:  The bi-septile between Mars and Venus is now accompanied by septiles between Mars and Neptune, and Venus and Neptune, in other words a strong septile-configuration having to do with sex (Mars-Venus) and spirituality (Neptune). Oh wow, did I hear rumors about big discussions in the Roman Catholic Church about such issues? That is one way it's working out. What about your personal life? Someone you love is mysterious. Your relationship is mysterious. It is delicious, tempting, yet impossible. Okay, you know how to work with that, or shall learn if you are patient. Where are my responsibilities? (Neptune at it best) is one question to ask.

Instincts allied to recollections lead to the unveiling of mysteries. Travel is appealing. There is complacence about it, that is, no hurry to get anywhere and yet a sense that your fortune lies in a distant land or that you gain by international links. 

Frustrations about worldly matters do not have to amount to horrid losses. You may fear loss and yet feel secure in your spiritual life, as if you were being upheld by the loving Hand of a Father-Mother. Aligning yourself with what seems impossible can keep you cheerful.

Goals with remote rewards can be pursued in seclusion. There can be definite mind-expansion through patient study of whatever uplifts you. Rather than chasing the world, you bring the world into yourself. 

Restlessness is an impulse to escape the drab or commonplace. It can have good results.  We wonder as we wander. A strong individual or guide you believe in could be a key. You look at him or her and he or she vanishes, yet has given you something.

There is a lot of unshaped matter, substance, resource, around you to be shaped as you wish. This is a gift, an abundance of potentials.

Playfulness emanates from a sense of internal security. This may be light and evanescent, like bubbles in the air. "All is beautiful and everything is possible!" is the feeling. (Some may think "Bah, humbug!")

Still, there are practical targets to hit, and you are a good marksman. You want to be the victor over rivals, and can. There are distant scenes wherein you feel you can conquer. You are sustained almost magically. A sleigh glides along with apparently no snow beneath it.

You have trained yourself to maintain poise when alone doing hard things. This comes in handy: you get away from too-easy pleasures long enough to accomplish something lasting. Maybe you think your position is lower than it might have been. But you can salvage it and recover from any appearance of hazard, retrieving everything of importance.

Something with an oriental or foreign flavor attracts you. This is interesting in itself and also has a practical side. You have a consignment of gifts and talents to work with and this is your support way into evening hours.

Things will get better in the course of the day. We tend to worry more than necessary during a |difficult third| and also during the Via Combusta. Facing our fears, while taking responsibility for whatever we can, is a help.

Relations between the sexes, or within them when there is romance, are awakening in interesting ways under the influence of Venus bi-septile Mars, a destiny-laden aspect. Some may seem too "easy" in accepting love, when not counting the price, yet they are giving of themselves in a relatively selfless manner and this can bring happy results. We do not want to be hardhearted toward anyone.

Seclusion to do important work (or spiritual work if today is your Sabbath) may be crucial. The world requires effort of us, often effort of which no one else is aware. 

Less demanding features include sharing food, drink, and entertainment in a way which is positive and uplifting, so that there is accord among a set of casual acquaintances or friends. This is the opposite of the previous paragraph but both trends will be evident. "Three men advancing arm in arm" shows the spirit of the thing.

The lighter and the heavier converge. One's serious self wants to be consecrated to something bigger than oneself, which gives leverage toward the Higher and more fulfilling. While one's lighter, amiable self wants something like what's described in the previous paragraph. May we find a smooth way of combining these trends.

Waste materials or old stuff can be used in your labors. Venus with Saturn and Pluto in earth signs shows concern about gardening, plants, machinery, or tangible things to be renovated, improved or reconstructed. That which was once alive or functional could be reinstated. 

A more psychological or esoteric level of things gives an uncanny ability to get answers from on high somehow or other. You channel useful truth or information. "A bridge being built across a gorge" suggests that the answers are not always complete yet are becoming so. If considering travel or a new place where there could be profit opportunities, this takes time to work out and should not be rushed.

There could be strife or litigation, at the worst, if one opposes or annoys people to a point where that has to happen. One's eccentricities go against public opinion, or you notice that this is happening in someone else's life. Toning it down would be wise

Rather, it is good to seek security through intelligence and stability of character. Through fairness and self-restraint you could be a haven for some who are weak or helpless, so that you are a defense and fortress for them as well as yourself. 

What was useful once can be useful again, if you are determined and incisive. Any setback--"A general accepting defeat gracefully"--can be turned into accomplishment by charming one's "enemy" or making him or her an ally somehow.

There are "celestial gifts" both temporal and spiritual. (It is possible that one could either doubt them, one error; or misuse them, a different error.)

There is reorientation through facing old disappointments and passing beyond them.

Some are headstrong yet human, petulant yet generous, wanting to enjoy fully and share the "good things of life" if those be centered in food, drink, and "good times." This may not be wrong, but of course has limits. 

Your mastery of things you have worked with is not to be questioned. You have done enough to be at a plateau where you are indeed "master" of a technique or skill sufficiently to rely upon it. And so there is no need to doubt that.

It seems one is carrying on "a relay race" for the sake of humanity, past generations and future generations. This is a group opportunity in which one participates. Both ancient and modern teachings and discoveries can be used for the sake of renovating one's approach and aiding others at the same time.

You reach high. You want to climb up the ladder of life. You are nobody's fool.

There is reorientation in financial matters and in personal relationships. Disappointments can be cured through adapting oneself comfortably to necessary changes. 

Some may think you are indifferent to things because you feel placid and composed, willing to wait for the next opportunity. You are not weak but may seem so to some observers. You will defend your own interests.

It is good to trust those who are trustworthy, and refuse to doubt their good intentions when there is a rough spot or some skepticism in your mind. 

Being at one with others in the universal pattern is a cure for maladies, "A hidden choir singing." Lighter moments could show you being a bit of a buffoon, admiring yourself or playfully exalting your ego, which might amuse others. But this is all for the sake of participating in a universal symphony of reconciliations.

Probably the most important factor to consider right now is the exact conjunction of Venus with Saturn. Over the decades I have seen that this corresponds to the most difficult periods in people's lives, at the emotional and spiritual level. (It often corresponds to worry about money also, but this tends to be secondary.) It is technically exact on Monday but still just as strong Tuesday, and does not end until the 27th. 

What is your soul telling you? Do you feel depressed, questioning your life purpose, questioning if you know how to love truly or if anyone truly loves you? If on a spiritual path, do you feel that your relation with the Supreme is on the rocks, or needs repair? All this is normal during the hard aspects of Venus with Saturn (which come generally four times a year). 

If one is totally self-centered, this takes the form, often, of blaming others or G*d for one's problems. How could He allow this to happen? Or how could she or he do such things? And so on. 

When one is a bit more mature in one's attitude, it becomes "How could I have been so callous, so insensitive, so full of desire which blinded me to the true state of affairs? Do I even deserve love or approval?" And so on. 

And so while one might blame Saturn, or the Solar System, or somebody or something for this aspect, it truly is an essential phase in our self-discovery and spiritual growth. It is a testing phase. Sometimes it is: Am I putting money before love? Sometimes it is: Am I letting craven desires block me from seeing what someone else truly needs? Do I know the difference between lust and love? (It might be said that Ryan Adams is going through this; but aren't we all, in varying ways?)

At best, it can teach us to find the spiritual core of us which is detached from both self-approval and other-approval but which seeks G*d's approval, that is, which tries to live up to the Highest insofar as that is possible. Then, when one feels one is doing that, there is peace. So it can be an aspect of spiritual peace at its best--of accepting the plans of G*d no matter how difficult they may seem at the level of human desire. One "mans up" or "womans up" to face life as it is, with its hard parts and sacrifices, while feeling kindness toward all who are going through their own sufferings.

I believe that one mission of astrology, or of Cosmic Piper, is to let us know when these special times are here so we can take heart, knowing that the hardest part will not last forever. That is a comfort.

Tuesday:  "Standing alone" may be an illusion, because we are never truly alone, but it may seem to be the case. Finding one's Soul, which is an aspect of Deity, sets one upon a rock which the turbulent seas of doubt and change cannot wash away.

Documents, copies, papers, "parchments" or e-docs may be significant and play a role in settling issues, solving problems. 

"The rainbow's pot of gold" may seem far off, yet faith permits us to hold on to our dreams. Destiny is not always unfavorable!

Whom does one trust? It is not good to doubt everyone. Friends who have been good to you ought to be relied upon. 

The union of contrary types requires adaptability, and this you have. A more austere kind of love links even those who may not be outwardly demonstrative.

Mercury sextile Venus, the sun sextile Mars in Taurus, and other factors could make one feel like "A child of about five with a huge shopping bag." Yet one's expectations need a bit of adult sobriety, for one remains alone in some ways unless one finds the internal link to Soul which is also a link to All. Then the outward treasure, the pot of gold, could remain yet have a more refined meaning.

^Welcome Normality^

Whatever "normality" means, we are closer to it today after a harrowing weekend (especially Saturday). 

There should be basic good fortune for most. Remnants of feuding or disagreeing are present, perhaps, but one can rise beyond them with a bit of patience.

One can examine everything from a cool impersonal perspective and see things from various viewpoints intelligently, "A child and a dog with borrowed eyeglasses." The instruments of vision are "borrowed" because one can rely on others' information or teaching as an aid to understanding.

Is someone supervising you, or are you supervising someone? This can be good, either way, provided one avoids quarreling about things which seem crucial but may be trivial in the long term. 

Integrity and ambition could combine to yield personal authority in one's area of expertise. 

There is a hopeful outlook and a sense that Spring cannot be far away, "Steps up to a lawn blooming with clover." This despite Venus's continuing presence with Saturn which can produce cold or wet weather (as well as emotional sobriety). The approaching Full Moon (exact tomorrow before noon) gives heightened awareness.

P. S. You may remember that tomorrow is the first day of a Dark Hermetic Epoch (until April 16). True, and we feel it a little before it begins, but the above remarks reflect other helpful influences. The DHE is not "bad" but often confusing if we let it be so. It can be "interesting" in a powerful way, offering unusual insight (maybe today that's the child and dog peering through someone else's eyeglasses).

~Guidelines Being Settled~

The Dark Hermetic Epoch of two months begins on Tuesday (the 19th). It's nothing to be upset about but often indicates a pausing place in one's forward motion or planning. One slows down, considers, revises things, and yet it is usually best to hold on to what one has decided in the previous Bright Hermetic Epoch (which was from December 24 through February 18).

We have Venus conjoined to Saturn until the 26th. "Nobody loves me." Enough said. It is good to be patient with oneself and people. It can also indicate financial worries, shortness of cash (or voluntary restraint of spending) or uncertainty about financial planning. Yet answers are generally available based on sticking with the tried and true.

The sun sextile Saturn but square Jupiter through at least the first half of March goes along with the DHE in suggesting that novel, exciting, speculative ideas and plans should be handled carefully while one tests them out. It would not be wise to jump into them full-force. Saturn says "What you have done before is still working so don't rock the boat." Yet the square with Jupiter says (and Mercury participates in that and goes retrograde on the 5th until the 28th) "You could do this amazing thing!" Maybe you can but it might be wise to keep it at the "proving ground" stage until perhaps April (a new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins April 16).

Venus escapes her melancholy conjunction with Saturn on the 26th, but then begins a square with Mars lasting all of March. The sexes, and erotic relations within each sex when that applies, are spitting fire at each other. Yet the up side is erotic thrill, sometimes, if it can escape the painful side of the fireworks. Being harsh or critical of the loved one is a problem, or facing such treatment from him or her.

However, Venus will be sextile Jupiter during the same period (or beginning March 12 until the 30th). This can be fulfillment and harmony and a touch of good fortune. It complements Mars's trine with Saturn in earth signs, through all of March, which suggests that "the economy" or your economy is on sound footing, provided one does not "mess with it" overmuch.

~Common Foundations Dispel Unfair Criticism~

Often to be a leader or standard-bearer implies that one is criticizing others who vie for the same position. That is going on in the very-early but interesting contest for Presidential nominations.

To be pure in intention, and consistent in a definite course of action, is to be resourceful enough to prevail, like "a clear mountain stream." One's work for income seems to be going well in essence despite any worry. 

You have more than average abilities in some area. What is it? You can pursue real mastery there.

Your home is important to you and you may feel you are a little house-proud or pleased with your place. Your sense of possession gives you a happy and frank disposition which pleases others. (That is optimistic, and to be true would depend on one's transcendence of the |difficult third| in one's consciousness, which is possible for all of us but seldom accomplished.) You might "borrow" some other location as a "second home." 

Pointing out fallacies or errors is something we all must do at times. Is it dangerous? Not unless (a) your judgment is off and you point out "errors" which really are not except from some limited, biased viewpoint or (b) you forget to be kind about it and sound as if you are attacking someone's character when that is not your intent. 

It might be better to remind people of their real spiritual foundations, or their family or national foundations, than to attack them for being wrong about something. "An ancient bas-relief carved in granite" symbolizes something we can all accept as a foundation in consciousness. Then recognizing right and wrong, or more adequate and less adequate, in transient opinions becomes easier and no longer stressful.

P. S.  As to the weather:  It is winter. Yes, astronomer-astrologers can tell you that, unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere. Interestingly, the two months of the winter are "ruled" in astrology, which was born and evolved in the Northern Hemisphere, by the two signs of which Saturn, the planet of cold, is ruler (Capricorn and Aquarius, December 22 through February 18). In 2019, both Saturn and Pluto are in Capricorn, and now Venus is joining them, making this perhaps one of the more memorable winters for its stressful conditions in many places. This weekend, a |difficult third| period, may mean "coping with the weather" continues to be hard, because Venus is moving closer to Saturn (hitting it Monday and continuing with it through the 26th). More importantly for most of us this may be the "emotional weather." Venus-Saturn hard aspects are the "Nobody loves me!" aspects. It's hard to get over that feeling sometimes. We judge ourselves harshly, as well as others. Am I to blame or is she, or he, to blame? That is the question which rankles. The answer depends on your spiritual orientation. The answer is Jesus, or Sai Baba, for some; it is impersonal psychotherapy for others. That is your choice. Aspects are mostly good. The hardest is Venus conjoined to Saturn, making us doubt friends, partners, love itself, more than we need to. (Oh, I forgot, it's Valentine's Day! That is something I regularly forget.)

The unusual is afoot. One can be resourceful in surprising ways, meandering where things are interesting.

Those who are enthusiastic partisans may seem superficial. Maybe they are. Maybe their zeal will lead them eventually to something better. 

It is good to be humble and not attempt things beyond one's powers or beyond what the world permits, for there is danger of a fall.

If that is avoided, there can be magic through "a tie to the creative power of the universe itself," or, as Dr. Jones puts it, "ideality brought to the point of miracle."

P. S.  A bit of politics. It is so early we can't see much into the 2020 election but things are getting very interesting. So many candidates to choose from. So far, no one on the Republican side is officially challenging Trump. 

As for the Democrats, the field is large and getting larger. Two whom I feel inspired to comment upon are Beto O'Rourke and Andrew Yang. O'Rourke has said he will decide and announce before the end of February whether or not he will run. I just read some fascinating history of him in the New York Times and find him intriguing. He is Libra and has some Libra flaws---what appears to be indecisiveness, a kind of "live and let live" attitude which might be what we need in politics now, but the Left of his party will reject him because he is not an ideologue and wants to "play nice' with the Right and the Republicans. As many Librans do, he wants to deflect all controversy, make as if it's not there, be on both sides, make nice. I like that. He is a writer, as are most Librans, and the Times published some of his musings during his tour around parts of the country while thinking about running for President. He is an interesting man, who has no definite policy stances on much of anything except that he wants people to get along. Supporting him for President is sort of like being in love with someone, because that is his persona. 

The other interesting candidate is Andrew Yang, who has not been getting media attention (yet). He wants a Universal Basic Income (UBI) of $1000 a month for everyone beginning (I think) at age 18. I wrote to his campaign and asked them if this would really apply to retired people of advanced age and they said yes, but another article I saw about this said the 1000 a month would cut off when people started getting their social security. I am not satisfied with or convinced about the answer I got on that. The plan may sound crazy but Yang has very good arguments for it and the more you read about it the better it sounds. It would be financed through a "value added" tax which would hit corporations as well as individuals; they would pay this tax on supplies they purchase, for example. Yang claims that this would be good for the whole economy and he sounds like a well-versed realistic accountant (Capricorn) as well as a humanitarian (three planets in Aquarius). Hmm.

Some are crafty, cunning, and a little predatory. Or are we all? Foxy.

Many do good deeds--feed the hungry, pour water for the thirsty. Some of them do it mostly for show. (Let's do it for better reasons.)

We can rely on ordinary things, our neighborhood, environment, and people around us, and this is comforting--"A duck pond and its brood." Quack.

Partisans and enthusiasts try to be reformers but may do no more than post Facebook propaganda. Sound familiar?

Some are passionately vindictive to the point of malice. Or are those just characters you saw on Netflix? Beware of those video ghosts. They see blood in the air and run amok.

Some study and explain Nature. That can be good. Others live it, like the fox sitting on its haunches and mapping strategy for its next meal.

P. S.  I use all the symbols in three systems, 360x3 or 1080 of them, and find them all useful. I have to winnow them because too much is too much, TMI or TMS (too many symbols). But right now the Sabian ones for the slow-moving planets are relevant. "Men cutting through ice" for Jupiter is self-evident for many places in the country, even in Seattle which is having more snow and ice than it has had in a long time.  "A general accepting defeat gracefully" (Pluto) could be Trump if he relents and agrees to sign the compromise on the Wall which is being prepared in Congress for his approval by Friday. The keyword is "Expediency." From the New York Times:

The compromise needs to be written into legislation, both chambers of Congress need to pass it, and the president needs to sign it, all before Friday to avert another government shutdown.

Venus conjoining Saturn tends to bring things to issue, not always pleasantly; it is realism, and can be the "Nobody loves me" aspect, which you and I and maybe even Trump might be feeling. (Say nothing about it, fellow fox.)
