~One Path at a Time~

I can't say this is a great, smooth, easygoing day, but at least we are getting the most difficult part of this week out of the way before the so-called holiday weekend (in the U. S.).
Reading z: Simple inclinations at home or in the family are rewarded in simple ways, through a transcendence of disappointments, a reorientation inwardly which makes you feel better. You reach out to the world's simple delights, no matter what your worries. At another level, you struggle against what seems loss, and protest it in whatever way you can, sensing that what is not right needs to be rectified and brought to the attention of those who can do that. When morose or lonely, you could do a bit of wandering and find comfort in being yourself without social compunctions.
Reading x: Lawyers and detectives may be necessary because some individuals disregard common sense and common humanity, much as you dislike dealing with such snoopy, coercive agencies. Correcting things does not have to be done with malice, in fact that defeats the purpose. At a more ordinary level, you may be aware of being watched or of watching someone warily. This looks like a day of relative freedom, with lunar aspects all harmonious. Worries diminish for a time. It could be a good time to be out and about or with someone you like.
You sense what is wise and correct, and that helps you fend off betrayal through weak feelings of attraction to those not entirely worthy of your affection. Okay, everyone is worthy of love! That is a principle. There may be a question of how far you trust someone, however, which is a matter of wisdom--"be ye innocent as doves, but wise as serpents." It is important to control developments rather than be reckless, which could mean wreck-ful.
Albeit, adventure and change appeal to you, and associations mixed up with nature, the country, a city park or the like. People are good at heart (except for the very rare sociopath perhaps). You may need to let go of the superficial side of some old relationship or friendship in order to appreciate the good it has done your soul, which is permanent.

The business world (and consequently stock prices and commodities and currencies) is undergoing a restructuring under the aegis of this X Cross (or Grand Square) which has certainly not been easy for investors.
Something about the earth becomes prominent, information about geology perhaps. Your home may be undergoing changes, some of them carefully organized by yourself. Happy Summer Solstice! We call this the sign of Cancer, the crab, but that does not require you to be crabby.
There is enough sympathy and summer confidence in the air so you do not have to be annoyed by the Grand Square we are all facing, although it is wise to keep truckin' so you are not crushed by it. There is a mental sharpening with Mercury square Saturn, a determination to get to the bottom of things rather than be evasive or uncertain.
You can adapt yourself to business conditions by playing your cards well, and making sure no one else sees them. You are mastering the timing of moves.
Strife and harshness are in evidence. Someone's bark is worse than his or her bite. \Preventing or Transcending Crisis/
The troubles in Greece and the continuing world-wide economic and Market decline are troubling, of course. I have not been predicting terrible things because I don't think that would help---although of course I have been aware of the huge number of difficult aspects formed and forming. Many will blame the eclipse of Wednesday for the Greek and Market crisis. Perhaps, but not just because it is an eclipse, rather because of the hard aspects forming. In my special report on the "Bull or Bear" economy, I mentioned how I had discovered the 12 degrees and 52 minutes of arc orb for hard aspects (square and opposition). On exactly Wednesday an X Cross or Grand Square (the names mean the same thing) formed exactly by that orb, the first day of it! It will not leave us for a month at least.
The forecast for Wednesday may have seemed mild, in relation to what is happening. I often err on the side of optimism, from any harshly realistic perspective, yet I think you understand that I am trying to give hope rather than despair. What I did say in the forecast for Wednesday about protest was certainly applicable to the Greek crisis:
If you need to protest something unfair, your way of doing it needs serious consideration before you wreak destruction. People do not see things in the same way, obviously, so what seems unfair to you does not to someone equally humane but perhaps lacking perspective.
That may seem mild, yet it is on the mark. The protesters in Greece are said by some to be "anarchistic" and some have described themselves as such. The previous comment is something anarchists need to understand. That does not at all diminish the seriousness of the unemployment and other problems they are protesting. Of the Grand Square one might say, "These are the times which try men's souls."
The final paragraph in the report for Wednesday certainly is true for me:
Good aspects forming, including Venus's trine with Saturn, incline toward careful management including money management. So you are building security through good record-keeping among other virtues.
Again that may seem mild in view of the economic problems many are experiencing, but after all, "careful money management" is exactly what all have to practice at such a time. I hope it might be going well for those of you who look to these reports for clues.
Now for Thursday: Today and Friday are the |stressful third of this week| at least from an emotional viewpoint. And so I have to preach a little, because the only way I have found to face such times happily is to keep my faith in the Supreme alive and active, to praise and thank the Lord for what I have, rather than brood overmuch on what seems missing.
Something domestic about the day may interest you, a change at home. A deeper level of things requires the suspension of the ordinary which may seem intimidating at first. Whether there is strife or conflict depends on the level of self-control in people, which at this point in history, at least in Christian and Hindu cultures, is better than it has been in ages past. Still, patience may be tested.
When get-rich-quick schemes fail, as many may have in the past month, there is still hope; and reorientation through clearer thinking. A friend may be true-blue and linked with you psychically or mediumistically if that is desired. Pleasant things are available in abundance whenever you feel you deserve or truly want them.
Smooth potentials seem mysterious because arriving at their fruitage requires time and sacrifice. Pleasing the Invisible means, first, having faith in It. Animists and so-called primitives understand this.
Whether your actions are frivolous, and so considered silly, vain and self-centered; or persuasive, depends on your confidence in yourself and your good opinion of those around you.
A lot can happen quickly; even too quickly. So a crisis may seem in the offing. Healing is possible, and reorientation which prevents a fall, if you are attentive to the inner voice which warns and guides. At such times a renewed link with the Highest is essential.

The time of the Full Moon this afternoon is available many places so I won't bother with the exact minute. Those who do special meditations at these times often do them before the Full rather than after (so, if in the evening, Tuesday rather than Wednesday), although in my experience both times are powerful.
Someone asked about the importance of a lunar eclipse. There is one this time in some parts of the world. I do not make a distinction between an eclipse or an ordinary Full Moon or New Moon (at those latter times there can be a solar eclipse). However, some astrologers do. I have not really researched the matter deeply, since I have not seen an overwhelming reason to do so. The effect of an eclipse would have to do with the aspects the sun (and therefore the moon) formed at the time, and I cover that in the regular reports as best I know how.
It seems you are cultivating your intelligence and awareness and perhaps learning how to trim things from your life when they are otiose. Possibilities seem endless while the sun and Mercury form a trine with Neptune, planet of higher spirituality and unity. The hidden side of people emerges in a happy way.
However, people have their contradictions, so you will have to deal with that. They are unsure of their aims; or their more careless hopes clash with their ideals and they do not notice. What you specialize in and what an associate or partner specializes in are not the same and this may make for unease.

The moon in Leo is usually a cheerful position. Its square with Mars gives it zest. If you get in an argument with anyone, I hope it is not someone who could hurt your standing, reputation, or job situation.

Bear or Bull?
Bear or Bull?
I said I would try to write something this weekend about the economy. So here it is. I warned that it would be speculative, and it is.
I don't know anyone, astrologer or not, who is able to forecast what the economy or the stock market will be doing with any accuracy. Some are right part of the time, yet spectacularly wrong other times. Some may have a streak of being right for months or years, then fail abysmally.
There are just so many variables that nobody knows how to juggle all of them. Not just five or ten or twenty, but thousands. Not just the price of gasoline or the unemployment problem, but the crisis in Japan as a global economic event as well as the debt problems of Greece and other countries. And on and on. And in astrology there are also countless variables to consider, since we use (most of us) ten planets in their multiple combinations varying endlessly and never repeating from year to year. What was the problem in 1929 is not exactly what was the problem in 2008. Educated guesses remain educated guesses and not much more.
The astrologer Henry Weingarten, whom I knew in New York decades ago, publishes his online forecasts which you might look up. I am not sure you will find them reliable. A year or more ago he said that gold was not a good investment. As a matter of fact, since he said that it has risen dramatically. Another would-be prognosticator bites the gold dust.
Yet I consider Henry a serious astrologer and it is possible that if you studied his forecasts they would enhance your investment skills. Or, they might mislead you. That might depend more on your intuition and judgment than on his astrological prowess.
Last night I assiduously studied the latest pronouncements of financial experts on what is likely to happen in the near future for the American and world economies and, yes, the stock market. Most of them were quite bearish, the more extreme bears warning of another recession. Others tempered their pessimism with guarded optimism. Some think things will be better toward the end of this year; but one said that 2012 would be worse than this year.
Some call astrology a "pseudo-science" but I would say that economics might be deserving of the same designation.
It is fascinating to note that Saturday, the day I delved into these researches, Jupiter entered Taurus where it will be for approximately a year--Taurus the sign of the bull! Of course it would be foolish to say that because of that we will have a bull market, but I am guardedly optimistic. There will be ups and downs, as always, but I have said to individuals that I did not expect another recession or major "crash" or lasting downturn this calendar year. I will hold to that prediction, as bullish as I can get, and hope that events will bear me out.
The long-lasting opposition of Saturn and Uranus, odd as it may seem, appears to have something to do with the situation. Why these two would have a strong effect on the economy is an interesting question to which I could provide speculative answers. Rather, I will point out some solid facts.
The market "crash" of 2008, the beginning of the economic downturn or recession (call it what you like), began big-time in September of that year. The opposition of Saturn and Uranus began, by a standard ten-degree orb, on August 29. It continued, month after month, while people were losing up to half of their nest-egg investments, through April of 2009. It returned later that year, and has been off and on since.
Now although it appears that this means something, and I will explain further why, it is not a firm enough factor to base investment decisions upon. That is because, although it has been "off and on" since then, and is still with us, the Market has not gone up and down exactly with those off and on indications. Sometimes the Market has gone up while the opposition was in effect. However, now, near the end of the aspect, we are experiencing another Market scare and a five-week downturn. The Market has been losing steam (and investors their profits) since early in May. Here is an important fact: though the opposition had faded (because planets go retrograde from geocentric perspective) and disappeared in October 2010, it returned on April 23, 2011, just before the current five-week downturn which is depressing so many investors now and turning many into bears. (That is by the standard ten-degree orb.)
As for the future, before we look (calculated suspense, readers!) let us look at the big-daddy of Market crashes, the one at the end of October 1929.
Were Saturn and Uranus in a hard aspect then? (Hard aspects are the square and opposition, and sometimes the conjunction.) Not by our ten-degree orb. What then? Well, Saturn and Uranus began a long-lasting square, by that orb, on November 11, 1929, lasting on and off through January 16, 1932. This was the beginning of the infamous Depression of the 1930s.
Why did the precipitate Crash come before the beginning of the square? Well, this is something I have noted before in long-term cycles. For very important aspects, I have, for years, adopted an orb of twelve degrees and 52 minutes of arc. The reason for that will be understood, perhaps, by anyone who has studied the Critical Degrees based upon the 28 Lunar Mansions. This is a system from the night of time which really works. The ancients were not fools any more than we are. Ptolemy used a 17 degree orb for the sun's aspects, and a 12.5 degree orb for the moon; ten degrees for other planets. I find that the 12 degrees and 52 minutes orb, very close to the 12.5 degree orb Ptolemy used for the moon, works extremely well in case after case.
By that orb, the Saturn-Uranus square began on October 18, 1929 about ten days before the big Crash. And by that orb, these two planets would be in a square or an opposition 21.15 per cent of the time, or about a fifth of the time. It would appear that those are economically perilous times.
What bears this out is the fantastic phenomenon that this current period of economic worry and downturn (five weeks is a long time for the Market to be losing every week) began just after this aspect returned in the sky by the orb just mentioned (after being away for six months), on April 1, 2011 (or April 23 by the tighter ten-degree orb).
Now, finally, the future, which astrologers and bears and bulls are supposed to predict: This aspect is on its last legs! It ends on September 8, 2011, and will not return until 2020. (By the tighter ten-degree orb it ends on August 18.)
Again, I am not predicting the economy or the Market! It is too risky and I do not want any investors' blood (or oil or gold dust) on my hands. But I consider the former facts to be instructive as suggesting a basis for further research. Astrology is an experimental science. Where are the experimenters? I am one, but we need many more. Meanwhile the pioneers have to struggle on without assistance from those who blithely call us "pseudo-scientists."
When the real pseudo-scientists are called upon to stand up, we may be surprised at their identities.

On the other hand, since news from it has been so depressing for a few weeks, I want to write something about it, even if speculative. That will be a special report to be posted sometime this weekend. Meanwhile, the Saturday forecast (no forecast for Sundays):
You veer between (a) calmness at home and (b) a turbid pondering of distant scenes, or of philosophy: your way of comprehending the world. There is a lot of water under the bridge, and you might want to clarify what it all means by discussion with certain individuals close to you in background or ability.
Sage wisdom helps in your career strategy. Your specialized field is important to you; your hopes center in it to a large degree; and so you are willing to put a focus on relevant, interesting study.
There is mutual admiration with a friend who appreciates your particular genius, as you his or hers. So you share fascinating researches or ideas. Original notions or strategies bear fruit in time.
The mysterious is your internal domain; you are willing to live apart to a large degree when that serves your purposes or gives you space in which to arrive at temporary conclusions. At times you just don't care what the world thinks, as long as you think well of what you are doing or thinking.
Then you may balance solitariness with time in a public place such as a square, farmers' market, park, library, shopping center or mall, or someone's yard. This sort of wandering recreation enriches your inner life. By evening there could be a more social (yet still serious) trend while the moon sextiles Venus.

It's easy to see travel as likely for many at the beginning of the weekend, perhaps merely local, or further, but with a feeling of "What's the use?" or "Why am I going here?" We are in the |emotionally doubtful third of this week| today and Saturday, although Saturday should be somewhat nicer.
Those who finagle for gain in devious ways do not always come to grief immediately but are not happy people.
You get intimations of telepathic contacts with those at a distance, some of them troubling, and that is the moment for prayer of a hopeful, healing nature.
Sometimes it is well to go it alone, if friends are absent or otherwise occupied; still you feel the uplifting presence of invisible friends. People around you, neighbors or strangers, are not entirely alien; at least reliable in crucial respects.
Why the human race insists on strife and war, or in their absence on contests of all sorts, is a fascinating occult question. Many theories attempt to answer it. The tendency seems to bring issues to a head so they can be resolved decisively. On the other hand, ordinary daily routines and necessities provide welcome relief from such "issues" and can be handled contentedly.
You may wonder who deserves your kindness and support. One theory is that it is better always to be charitable; another, that it is wise not to let oneself be exploited. The truth lies somewhere in the middle (although the Master Jesus appears to be solidly in the former camp).
The honest commander is always appreciated by a people so that he can bring their aspirations to fruition, even if through strife or firm negotiation leading to peace.
