1 Gemini is usually a good sign but can seem “two-faced” because it is the sign of the twins, one of them perhaps Jekyll and one Hyde. “A monster with two faces, like the ancient Janus” could indicate “duplicity and deception; a slanderer.” Welcome to the Midterm campaigns, while Mars is stationary and turning retrograde in Gemini. You get to choose which negative ads to believe. (I discount all of them and look at stated positions and voting records.)

2 A gentler form of the “duality” trend is “A man wearing a mask as in a play.” He is not trying to deceive but “simulates qualities and characteristics not proper to himself” as an art form. He or she could be sarcastic or critical (as Elon Musk in some recent tweets) but is just playing a self-chosen role. Not malicious but playful, he or she attracts admirers and friends without making commitments.

3 Each of us deals with the change of seasons in his or her own way, so “Winter frost in the woods” can have varied meanings. Mars is stationary and turning retrograde, so sometimes “normal life is bought to a point of sharp suspension.” (My refrigerator is not working! The “winter frost” is in the woods rather than in my edibles) Yet there is splendor in “the creative transformation by which older cycles give way to newer ones.”

4 The Luna-Saturn square demarcating the |karmically difficult third of this week| could make you feel like “A great and lonely tower rising from an eminence of rock.” You could be “powerful and independent, relying on your own counsel and capable of standing alone.” You might be “taciturn and reserved,” therefore “inscrutable.” You might “command respect and regard” while your “fortunes remain untouched by the hand of change.”

1 Maybe Halloween will have inclement weather, or else “winter frost in the woods” is psychological, a suspension of ordinary activities so that “a larger magic may be manifest.” Mars turned retrograde early Sunday, indicating perhaps a change of direction in the political sphere, for example. Some of this can be as splendiferous as winter frost, strengthening rather than weakening.

2 We are not all orphans literally, but all go through a process of separation from parents in one form or another, and this could be evident in moods. “A nest of young unfledged birds is lying upon the ground.” Neglect, and hard circumstances, can lead to noted self-assertion even if one is “reared among strangers.”

3 “A hare is seated on a knoll above its burrow, behind it the rising Moon.” One might be apprehensive or even timorous, although astute. It is good to be aware of real dangers, not of imaginary ones. That ghost is just a costume (though most did their dressing up Saturday or Sunday).

4 “The double triangle,” according to Charubel, “denotes great will power; a magician.”

\Mystery plus Coy Playfulness/

1 Much could be flighty and inconsequential, as if one were “an archer shooting arrows toward a flight of birds” — oh, that is Twitter! Little blue birds constantly yammering. Some will be “dissolute and disrespectful of convention.” Yes, Elon Musk has tweeted that Twitter is now a place for comedy. Apart from the birds, one might “become involved in more love affairs than he or she will be able to manage successfully.” There can be “intensity, enthusiasm, and nonchalance.”

2 In more serious or sullen moods one might contemplate “a human skull,” experiencing melancholy but also mystical moods, plus fondness for the occult. There can be a depth of penetration into mystery. Have you read Leslie Kean’s book Surviving Death?

3 “Several young men” are still “asserting their respective opinions by the free use of cudgels.” The campaign season is heating up, and Twitter is open to free debate. One dos not have to be litigious, quarrelsome or revengeful in order to take part in an exhilarating contest of opinions. When truth is the guide, extremes melt toward the middle.

4 And, as Elon suggested, there is room for playfulness rather than malice. “A man wearing a mask as in a play” describes “simulating qualities and characteristics which are not proper to oneself.” One could be sarcastic, even a little deceptive in a way coyly obvious, playing a part which attracts friends and admirers. One might observe others doing this.

1 “A nest of young, unfledged birds lying upon the ground” could be “desolation and despair” or else, through “self-assertion and effort,” even though “obscure in origin and reared among strangers,” one might “attain to considerable distinction.” There could be thoughts of orphanage or of separation from one’s parents.

2 In “a market place several young men ae in dispute, asserting their respective opinions by the free use of cudgels.” This is American democracy just before a crucial midterm election. It is Twitter, where Elon Musk has restored “the free use of cudgels.”

3 Luna sextile Venus-and-the-sun could make us feel prosperous. “A man stands with his left foot upon the shoulder of a spade. In his hand he holds a jewel reflecting the sun’s rays.” This could be “fortuitous wealth acquired by exploration and discovery.” At the least this could be a good shopping day.

4 “A heart” suggests that all will be, to a degree, “affectionate, confiding, unselfish, and much influenced by others.” So it is a good time for contacting people out of sheer friendliness.

1 The moon in Sagittarius opposite Mars in Gemini, a dual sign (2 hands), while both square Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces, also a dual sign (2 feet), could be responsible for “a monster with two faces, like the ancient Janus.” Charubel says this “denotes duplicity and deception; a slanderer.” Welcome to American politics 2022 (three 2’s). However, Janus is the god of January, a fresh beginning, so by turning one way or the other we may have a renaissance.

2 But lack of direction could be a problem. “An archer is shooting his arrows toward a flight of birds.” The implication is that by aiming at too much he may hit nothing. He is “restless, flighty, and indeterminate; effecting operations without design, using his forces at hazard.” Perhaps he will “become involved in more love affairs than he will be able to manage.” Yet enthusiasm and nonchalance are exhilarating even if inconsequential.

3 Indoors, there is “a spacious room filled with expensive furniture and mirrors.” There are means to enjoy a luxurious, fashionable setting at home or elsewhere. This could spill over into fostering and appreciating the fine arts.

4 “A woman standing on the head of a serpent” “denotes great sagacity, under the guise of feminine weakness; a person of great fascinating power.” Two-faced? Not necessarily, but  elegant and hypnotic.

1 Russia conducts first nuclear weapons drill since its invasion of Ukraine

These are headlines from the front page of the London Financial Times for Wednesday. Now compare what I posted in the Wednesday forecast from our great 19th-century clairvoyant, Signor Borelli, as interpreted by Sepharial: If things were to go wrong, it would be through an impatient, unconsciously wanton energism symbolized by “a storm-swept prairie.” “Free as the wind, violent withal and rash, he shall put forth much strength to no purpose, his path marked by waste and extravagance. Fallen idols and desolated temples will be the outcome of his genius. To destroy where he cannot build will appear his aimless pursuit in life. In the end he will become himself the desecrated tomb of many forlorn and blighted hopes.” (Sepharial) That is strong language, and you may more easily see it applying to others on the planet or in the nation, such as warmongers, than to yourself. (End of quotation from the Wednesday forecast) Was I right, and were Signor Borelli and Sepharial right? We are “flirting with” nuclear war and the Biden administration has even admitted that, yet is doing nothing to stop the fighting or the weapons-buildup. (I repeat the same material for today because while Venus was at that degree yesterday, the sun is there today.)

2 Who is “a rhinoceros”? Zelensky, Putin? Both of them? “Strength of body, calm courage; one who can stand unmoved on the battle-field simply because he is incapable of fear or of realizing danger.” That is not smart when nuclear weapons, which could destroy the planet, are involved. “Such an one has but one object at a time that absorbs him.” Again, not smart, because Zelensky’s one object is “Get Russia out” and Putin’s one object is “Restore Ukraine to Russia.” There is no end to that process but endless war between the two “rhinoceroses.” But the rest of the world is being dragged into the potentially catastrophic battle, financed by your tax dollars. There has to be strong mediation to end this threat.

3 Those dwelling in relative peace might be able to build up “a great mound of earth and stones, on the summit of which is a single flowering shrub.” There can be “carefulness in small things and attention to detail.” If our hearts are in our tasks we can “build up a position for ourselves by dint of patient toil.” Such continuity brings due reward. (Who is willing, among the nations, to be "careful in the small details" of a drastically needed peace process attending to the concerns of both sides?)

4 That reward might include “a spacious room filled with expensive furniture and several mirrors.” The world could reflect one’s hopes concretely and fashionably. There can be self-aggrandizement which begets or fosters artistic accomplishment, with love for its beauteous outcomes.

1 The opposition of Luna with Uranus while she is also square Saturn could sum to “winter frost in the woods” or a suspension of ordinary routines through delays or obstructions. It’s the time of year when we feel Nature’s limitations on us. But Dr. Jones gave the keyword “splendor” to this degree, showing that winter has its glories.

2 Super-sensitive, we are like “a heron,” not apathetic but keenly alert to what goes on around us through fineness of perception. This could result in extreme reactions to frustrating conditions, or it could make activities unusually expeditious. Mercury is speeding ahead toward the sun, a good time for developing plans and beginning to instrument them.

1 The above indications could manifest, symbolically, as “a man resembling a giant, the lower limbs black; he appears to creep upwards.” There is “ambition and capacious desire” but misfortunes and losses. Charubel recommends that he “examine his natal figure (horoscope) carefully so that he may be able to master what some call destiny.”

2 “Winter frost in the woods” hints at the serious energy problems many are having, with little chance of heating their homes comfortably. If this does not apply to you, give thanks. “Normal life is brought to a point of sharp suspension so that a larger magic may be manifest.” This could be delays or obstructions which prevent ordinary smooth routines, yet such “suspension” could make room for something different and wonderful.

3 The |difficult third| plus the Via Combusta plus 1 and 2 could make for disillusionment, but as taking away “illusion” that could be good, making one into “a pilgrim; an old man seated beneath a shady tree, his head bowed in thought.” We might be “given to solitude and deep philosophic thought, loving the mysterious and abstruse.” (Sepharial) “Impressed with the unreality of things around us and the changefulness of human relations, we are disposed to the study of eternal verities and feel no need of companionship. We regard things and persons according to their true value.”

4 That does not rule out possible “cultivation of the fine arts.” There is “a lyre; upon its arm hangs a wreath of laurels.” Do you want to listen to a favorite singer, band, group or composer? Whether through music or other arts, our minds can be “harmonious, generous and peaceable.” Our lives can be “free from disquieting and distressful elements.” Or we ourselves could work, through art or drama, to “illustrate and interpret the finer emotions of the soul.”

1 With Luna in her last day before the New Moon, and in the Via Combusta or Burning Way, there can be listlessness and loss of morale, with possible confusion. “Take it easy” is good advice. Some will be in a mystical mood, fond of occult studies, as suggested by “a human skull.” Though there could be melancholy there is also depth of mental penetration.

2 Mars slowing to its station, while square both Neptune and Jupiter, is strengthened. “In a marketplace several young men are in dispute, asserting their opinions by the free use of cudgels.” The midterm elections approach. Some of the most assertive contenders are women. No one really wants to be litigious, quarrelsome or revengeful, yet all want to win their contest.

3 And each thinks that he or she is right, even righteous. There is “an open Bible with a sword on it.” Some are in fact truthful, good, and just, whatever their opponents say about them. The “sword” is really the sharp awakening power of the Word. He or she who grasps its hilt is sure to win, morally if not actually.

4 Somewhere there is “a great headland over which the Sun is rising, overhanging the sea.” This is someone “great and magnificent, imbued with feelings of magnanimity and reposeful strength.” Anyone aware of or associated with such an one is blessed, and can take up his cause blamelessly. “His or her opinions are lofty and elevated, his views wide as the seas, and her stability of purpose equal to her strength of mind.” “Looking forward with confidence, his hopes will not be frustrated.”

1 Mars slowing down, virtually motionless as he approaches his station on Friday the 30th, seems to stir up conflict, as in "a nomadic warrior equipped with javelin and firearms." That has a Ukraine-Russia flavor. A planet near its station is said to have increased power. Mars is in Gemini, the sign of Donald Trump. I am not sure whether that will mean a "red wave" on November 8 but it might.  Meanwhile today Sepharial warns us of "one liable to become subject to the accusation of violence towards others." It is not good to resort to force rather than reason, or to be "in mind offensive to the peace of others."

2 People and nations have their methods of defense, as in "a cross formed of darts, that is, with a barbed termination to each arm." "He is very positive, a person of strong will, never allowing anyone to impose on him, perhaps possessing magical abilities." 

3 What might calm people down is "winter frost in the woods" or "a momentary cancellation of more immediate interests and private concerns." Some say that a hard winter, with little fuel, could reduce the magnitude of the fighting in Ukraine. For all there could be "the supremacy of the needs and powers of nature over the aspirations and conveniences of man." "Normal life is brought to a point of sharp suspension so the larger magic may be manifest." We ae in the final days of an Old Moon before the New early Tuesday. "Older cycles give way to newer ones."

4 This respite could be good for us. "A heart" represents someone "affectionate, confiding, unselfish; much influenced by others." This could be a corrective for paragraphs 1 and 2. The heart has its reasons, though reason rarely can get to the heart of them.

1 The moon is in its final quarter, when there is usually less energy or energism, and so “a man is sleeping upon a bundle of clothes while over him hovers a vulture; on one side a serpent is ready to strike and on the other a leopard about to spring.” One’s indifference to danger, through self-indulgence and untimely pleasures, could be a problem; one should not be oblivious to one’s environment.

2 The other extreme might be “a man on a treadmill,” experiencing a hard and unsatisfactory time with much labor and little reward. However, this might be better than the serpent and the leopard attacking while one dilly-dallies.

3 Do you get sympathy for your plight? Maybe not, because some may seem like “a raven standing on a stone;” they are morose and misanthropic, even revengeful; reclusive and secretive, not inclined toward sympathy.

4 But there are some comforts. “A spacious room is filled with expensive furniture and several mirrors.” Conventional and fashionable circumstances or luxuries could please you. There is love for the fine arts plus artistic accomplishment, one’s own or others’.

\Frosty Melancholy Modifies a Leap into Desire/

1 The seasons are changing. The onset of darker and cooler weather could bring gloom and melancholy. “A dark pool of water in the shadow of dense foliage” signifies “a disposition toward a quiet and ineffectual life, ambitionless and effortless.” There is obscurity if one “yields without reason, showing adaptability without purpose.”

2 “Winter frost in the woods” can be splendid in appearance. But it might hint at the harsh energy crisis in Ukraine, Europe and the U.K., with many warning of “rolling blackouts.” The consensus is that it will be a very hard winter in those places, with many struggling to secure enough heat for their homes. For the rest of us also this could be “a symbol of the cosmic significance in any momentary cancellation of more immediate interests and private concerns.” “The needs and powers of nature” sometimes have supremacy over “the aspirations and conveniences of man.” Yet some “lager magic may be manifest” such as the splendor of winter frost.

3 The moon forms a T square, opposing Neptune while both square Mars. This could result in “a horse saddled and bridled, and galloping away without a rider.” That is, some may, out of desperation or frustration, “run off halfcocked.” Charubel says the the horse can represent the senses and the rider the mind, so we are advised to think clearly and let our thinking penetrate into and modify our bodies’ sense-desires.

4 Then we would be prepared to encounter “a woman standing on the head of a serpent.” She has “great sagacity, under the guise of feminine weakness: a person of great fascinating power.” The trine of Mars with Venus continues, bringing out unusual attractions.

1 I keep saying that I try to avoid politics. But how can I avoid writing about THE FUTURE OF THE HUMAN RACE AND THIS PLANET? And that is at stake because of the policy of the Biden administration to pour billions of dollars into WEAPONS AND MORE WEAPONS for a NDVER-ENDING WAR. It pushes Putin into a corner and leaves no room for an end to the hostilities. We need to heed Noam Chomsky on the Left and Henry Kissinger on the Right, both of them insisting we need to NEGOTIATE. And INSIST that Kelensky negotiate rather than just demand more and more weapons and more and more money, into whose Ukrainian pockets we don’t even know, because Congress refused to adopt an amendment proposed by Rand Paul which would have set up an INSPECTOR-GENERAL to determine exactly where the money was going. “No, just trust any and every Ukrainian with the money” replied Congress in its savviness. Everyone knows Ukrainian politics has been corrupt for decades, and how could a nuclear war be good for the Ukrainian masses?

1> This section is going to be long. Here is the symbol: “A soldier going through his drill.” Thousands of Russians and thousands of Ukrainians. “One who, though possessed of military proclivities and ambitious of military honors, will ever be unfortunate in that calling. And should he ever be engaged in active service he is nearly certain to be killed, or at best badly wounded.” Unfortunately this is likely to come true for thousands unless swift action is taken to bring about a peace settlement.

1> Many great American leaders have warned against foreign involvements and insisted on peace negotiations, including George Kennan, J. William Fulbright, and John F. Kennedy, who said, “We must never negotiate out of fear, but we must never fear to negotiate.” He steered us away from threatening nuclear war in 1962 (the Cuban missile crisis) and if he were President now would have found an answer to the Ukraine-Russia imbroglio. The brilliant, courageous man who has brought some of this to my attention is Jeffrey Sachs, discussing our dangerous situation with Tulsi Gabbard here: https://www.tulsigabbard.com/podcast/ I recommend listening to this interview with him when both he and Tulsi make clearer than anyone else the stakes we are facing in the threat of nuclear war right now. 2 “A man trimming palms” could be some courageous Senator or Administration official stepping up and saying “Enough money for Ukrainian war-mongering; we need to insist on negotiations.” Cut out the “dead leaves” of missiles and tanks and maybe even nuclear weapons which in fact are death-dealing and not life-promoting. They cannot save the Ukrainian people, but put them in immediate danger.

3 Some may think that Zelensky, and some that Putin, is “a man with a crown on his head and a spear in his hand.” I don’t think so, because he is described as having “dignity, valor, and humanity combined.” We need such a person, and more than one, at the highest levels of government, both here and internationally, to get us out of this crisis. Where is he; where are they?

4 Let’s hold up as our ideal this image: “A rustic cottage, overarched by a spreading cedar tree.” “This is a nature attuned to works of benevolence and homely simplicity, careful in the affairs of daily life, solicitous of peace and comfort, and ever ready to shelter, befriend and succor the wayside traveler without neglect of those within his doors.” People are longing for normality, for peace and common-sense concord with one another. Let’s insist that our politicians make that simple state of affairs possible for us.

1 Let’s not create or exacerbate paranoia, but caution is appropriate in any |difficult third| period, so I give Charubel’s warning: “An innocent-looking woman with fair hair, rather tall, appears restless. A very dark-looking being is behind her back.” Charubel warns against obsession or mediumship. “Strengthen your system, and fortify yourself in every way.”

2 We can be content with our abilities. Although “a balloon” does not suggest “any one great enterprise” yet the person it represents is “capable of performing remarkable feats.” One might do something as noticeable and intriguing as the flight of a balloon.

3 “A strong man, a knight of the field, is ready for attack,” steadfast in defense of his rights and those of others, ready for the fray of daily life and ultimately victorious.

4 When able to rest we could retreat to “a rustic cottage overarched by a spreading cedar tree.” There is benevolence and “homely simplicity.” Some are happy to “shelter, befriend and succor the wayside traveler” as well as “those within their doors.”

1 One might feel like “a man with a bow in his hand; but he has no arrow.” He has excellent abilities but is deprived of the means of effecting his purpose. Maybe putting the bow down for a while and doing something else would help until a different “arrow” appears.

1 Hither-and-yon astrological notes: I try to avoid politics but it’s hard. Megyn Kelly said on her podcast that Nancy Pelosi is ‘a bully, not a nice person.” Well, she is Aries the Ram and those horns are really horns. Megyn also said that Pelosi “acts like the one dictatorial leader.” This can be an Aries trait, for it is the “first” sign and ruled by Mars, the “strong man,” and the sun is exalted in it making for self-directed will-power. Whether all this works for good or ill in Pelosi is for you to decide.

2 We have entered a new Bright or Fast Hermetic Epoch while Mercury moves quickly toward the sun and passes it (by geocentric viewpoint). This lasts until December 12 and should help us to follow well-constructed plans in any area we feel to be important. (Let us hope it will make for greater sanity and more honest communication in national and international politics.)

3 Monday: Moon opposite Pluto while Saturn continues to square Uranus could make one feel like “a solitary tree upon a rocky height; behind it is a dark threatening cloud.” One wants to be independent and self-confident, and one can, though there may be feelings of isolation and suspicions of betrayal. Or that “cloud” could be a mushroom cloud if we fail to push Zelensky and Putin to the negotiating table.

4 “A man trimming palms” could be almost literal for me, because a large household plant has several browning leaves about to fall. But there is beauty here as well. “One seeks to leave his immortal stamp on the world around him.” Enhancement of one’s surroundings by an aesthetic sense lifts the whole tone of things.

5 The world seems to lack “an ancient shepherd with crook in hand, standing in the midst of his flock.” Not many think that that is Xi, though he wants everyone to think so, or Biden, or anyone I know of. Hey, somebody, somewhere, step up and take that “shepherd’s crook” and lead us away from war and nuclear annihilation. I met someone last night who has “an extraordinary love for rural life,” as Charubel says this shepherd does. Yet she also has “a large amount of this world’s wisdom.”

6 Maybe the new Bright Epoch will make us feel we are on “an elevated promontory, illumined by the noonday sun and crowned with variously colored flowers.” Venus trine Mars has romantic overtones. One might be amenable to flattery or prone to self-conceit, “proud in heart and light-headed.” Yet one has “considerable personal charm” and “receives many of fortune’s favors.”

1 Memories of the past and dreams of the future are fine, as long as they do not take the place of reasonable care for duty. “A man is asleep by the side of some money-bags.” Where shall the money go if one does not take care of it? Or perhaps give it graciously rather than let it be taken?

2 Isolation and pride are suggested by “a solitary tree upon a rocky height.” Behind it is “a dark and threatening cloud,” that is, one might suffer from the machinations of enemies. The cure might be to avoid making such enemies in the first place by making clear to them that one is not a threat. “Pray for your enemies and persecutors.”

1 “A broken, dilapidated bridge spanning over the dry bed of a river” suggests our situation if we feel dispirited, gloomy and listless. It is good to be sure one is not following some false trail which cannot sustain one’s more selfish hopes (broken bridge).

2 To that end one could “trim palms” or eliminate what is not needed but is a blot on beauty or a block on utility. One can “bend natural resources to the will of the individual.” One “enlists every beauty and capacity of nature for a continuing elevation of the self’s aesthetic sense.”

3 If one is inclined to “careful, systematic and patient observation” one might resemble “an old man in a gown and skull cap (like a doctor) surrounded by chemical and other instruments.” There could be study of science, chemistry, medicine or alchemy. This or other research might bring distinction and honor.

4 At an even higher level, “An angel is standing in mid-air with a long scroll in hand, unfolded and covered with writing.” Charubel says this is a “Messianic degree” indicating, if not a Messiah, a “more than ordinary person.” We might well practice being open to the instruction of angels.

1 There is a lot of good, interesting, or thrilling conversation and commentary while the moon is with Mars in Gemini. The “twins” do not always agree but they discuss. Who is right? Both sides think thy are representing “the open Bible with a sword on it,” or divine justice. If they both aspire to that, and seek truth, they can finally agree on some things at least.

2 Not everyone is religious, but all have overt or covert connections with religious people. “A man in the robe of a priest is standing in the cloister beneath the light of a window.” Not everyone seems to derive spiritual “light” from the same source, yet all have moments when they want to be secluded and protected in a way which preserves their higher ideals.

3 Still, “children are skating on ice,” letting themselves trust their environment to sustain them while they have fun. They are “refining their personal capacities and skills” while “satisfied through successful self-expression.” They “experiment in infinitely varying channels.”

Astrological notes: 1 Aquarians often have a gravelly voice. An example is Alex Jones. Gravel! He reminds me of an Aquarian uncle whose voice was similar. Or sometimes it is a noticeably unusual voice, such as the wavering one of the Aquarian singer Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes). It quavers up and down like the two wavy lines symbolizing Aquarius in horoscopes.

2 A non-astrological commentator said, “There’s two hands to Trump!” commenting on his remarks about Putin and the Ukraine war, and other issues where he adroitly seemed to be on both sides yet came through successfully. Trump is Gemini, the sign ruling the hands and also twins. It’s known as a “dual” sign. Maybe that’s why Trump is a proponent of “the art of the deal” as he puts it.

3 Yes, it seems Florida is the state of the Fountain of Youth, because its surgeon general, Joseph Ladapo, has courageously rung a warning bell against MRNA vaccines and their effects on, especially, males of the ages 18-39. It’s about time, but of course the media are now claiming Ladapo is wrong, though he has a degree in medical research from Harvard! ’Oh, if young men drop dead after getting the vaccine, it’s just a funny coincidence!” How stupid do they think we are? I can’t find Ladapo’s birth data, but his admiring boss, Florida Governor DeSantis, is Virgo, the health sign.

Wednesday: 1 “An old door in which a dagger is stuck” suggests anger toward a past generation or someone who is “out of date” or clinging to traditions. However, the real folly could be on the side of the younger person “striking at existing systems and laws even when unable to improve upon them.” This could also be impatience with one’s living quarters, represented by the “old door.”

2 Somewhat contrary to 1, there are religious tendencies in many. “A man in the robe of a priest stands in the cloister beneath the light of a window.” This could show “a quiet, secluded, peaceful life” under the protection of “persons of high position and intellectual dignity.”

3 “Children skating on ice” could be any of us questioning the surety of the foundations on which we “skate.” Or if we feel safe, we could glide merrily and have a lot of fun. This can be adventurous self-discovery.

4 There is magic in the air. One might have “knowledge of a law in nature not popularly recognized” which allows one to hold “a long pole suspended horizontally in mid-air” by “a rope attached to each end connected with the earth.” One is empowered to “make one’s mark in one’s day.”

The hawks in Russia and the hawks in Ukraine are holding the rest of the world in hostage to potential nuclear war and it is time for all of us to wake up. The happier meaning of this symbol is “fun” derived from taking harmless risks which are exciting.

3 You might benefit by going north of your usual location, be it home or headquarters, even if only a few blocks. The Aurora Borealis lights up the northern sky and symbolizes magnetic force, which you may wield, or admire others who wield it.

4 Who is the ruler of your world? The Supreme Lord? Then you are safe. Zelensky, or Putin, or Biden? Then there is trouble. “A square block of marble, on which are the regalia of crown and scepter” denotes someone proud, who has firm character enabling him to triumph over rivals. “Children skating on ice” may sound dangerous, yet the symbols for the day are friendly, and the keyword for this one is Fun. True, “living for excitement” needs cautious restraint. This is gained through seeking truth: For example, is the ice solid enough to be safe? When there is sufficient security, fun and “soul-satisfying experiment” can unfold.

Truth versus falsity takes on sharp contours. “On the right hand, gloom and fog; on the left, the scenery is all sunshine.” One can be “decided for the truth, and that exclusively.” This is the age of IT, Information Technology, yet it seems we are swamped by incomplete or false information again and again. Expostulating the truth as one sees it can be satisfying even if others are not fully convinced.

There could be a welcoming invitation to “a well-lighted house with open door.” There is hospitality, open-handedness and sincerity of feeling (perhaps especially after the moon enters Taurus, time above).

What could happen there? “A man walking with two women, their arms linked in his.” Does this have to be a “jealousy triangle”? Not necessarily. And the sexual make-up of the triangle could be reversed. “A light, joyous spirit could sometimes run away with the reason.” Or else? All might find themselves flattered by attention and harmless self-indulgence.

The Astrology of Nuclear War (Hiroshima)

1 I’m just one lonely individual at my keyboard. Why do I call myself Cosmic Piper? As I have explained from the beginning, the name is intended to indicate the other (mostly beyond this world) astrologers I work with: Marc Edmund Jones, Al Morrison, Eleanor Bach, Isabel Hickey, Grant Lewi, C. E. O. Carter, Alan Leo, John Thomas (Charubel), Walter Gorn Old (Sepharial), Sydney Omarr, Reinhold Ebertin, psychic Elsie Wheeler, and many others who are not just now coming to memory. If a Cosmic Piper is penning these forecasts, he is all of them together.

2 Five of those individuals are responsible for the three sets of symbols for the 360 degrees of the zodiac which I use in the daily charts and forecasts. They are amazing and often brilliantly accurate if one gives them a bit of calm reflection. I have worked out very diligently a formula which uses six degree-symbols for each day. Over the long term there are as many symbols from Charubel as from Sepharial as from Jones-Wheeler.

3 Still, I have often dropped this system for the weekends in order to write a more long-term report based on just the zodiacal positions of the planets, without the symbols, but especially with the aspects among the planets. Most recently I have used fortnightly charts though I have also used monthly ones. Or I just look at the long-term aspects, allowing an orb of ten degrees which is more than many astrologers use but I have found that much to be essential.

4 Your input would be appreciated. Do you like these longer-term weekend reports or would you prefer the daily ones, with symbols, for Saturday and Sunday, as I did last week?

5 Because of the threat of and worry about nuclear war with Russia, I just looked back at August 6, 1945, the first time an atomic bomb was used militarily (Hiroshima). What stands out is the prominence of Mars at that time, as the cutting-edge planet in a bundle-shaped chart, indicative of haste at least and violence at worst. We do not have that situation now. Uranus seems to be the planet of nuclear stuff (rather than Pluto, according to brilliant astrologer Al Morrison) and in the Hiroshima chart Mars was beginning to conjoin Uranus by less than ten degrees. That is another clue that these longer-orb aspects are highly significant (though some astrologers restrict their orbs to five degrees or even less, a mistake I firmly believe). Mars is away from any aspect with Uranus now, in fact moving backward, which seems to indicate the fact that Zelensky, Putin, and Biden all seem to shuffle backward and forward in this useless and insane war. The lives of young men (Mars) and their families are being disrupted crazily while Mars slows down to go backward (slowing now, stationary and retrograde by the end of October).

6 Mars and Mercury were in a square during the Hiroshima attack, and they are now (September 25 through October 12). Astrologer Cyril Fagan insisted that this aspect correlated to acts of violence and warfare.

7 Another thing that may be “eating us” is the long-term square between Saturn and Uranus. We have discussed this at length. It began in January 2020 and ends toward the end of January 2023. Good riddance! Because Saturn rather than Mars is triggered by Uranus, the nuclear threat may be just that, something worrisome which can however be faced down and eliminated as can all things Saturnian if we rise up with firm character against them.

8 But of course there are no guarantees. I see that on August 6, 1945 Mercury turned retrograde, the very day of the horrific bombing, with the Dark Hermetic Epoch extending until September 13 that year. As said here ad nauseam, and again, and again, because it is needed, the DHE periods, though they cover almost half the time, are the times when more things go wrong. The current DHE ends October 17, with a Bright Epoch beginning that day until December 12.

9 I have not yet written my congressional representatives to ask them to stop funding this truly insanely dangerous war. Why should that even be necessary? But maybe all of us should do it. There should be firm conditions for the billions of dollars Zelensky has already pulled out of us, and continues to pull, namely, serious negotiations to end this hell on earth. Remember that it is a proxy war of the U. S. (no one else is financing it) pursued by Joe Biden in your name. 1 I posted a special message, Part A of this one, about the serious threat of nuclear war posed by the U. S.’s open commitment to the Ukraine battle without any pressure on Ukraine to pursue a peace settlement vigorously. I have become a fan of Breaking Points, a news source by video and podcast, available on multiple venues including Spotify and YouTube. I seriously recommend listening to it because the future of the planet is not being taken seriously by CNN, MSNBC, the NY Times or the Washington Post. In fact they seem to be cheering on an approach to nuclear disaster. That is their extreme shame. Saagar and Krystal by contrast are young journalists who know what they are doing.

2 For Thursday: “A prison door fitted with iron spikes and framed with iron girders” could represent whatever, objectively or subjectively, seems to have you imprisoned or denied the freedom you crave. Very objectively, it can be refugees within or from Ukraine as well as young Russians who are refugees from Putin’s military conscription, and many others around the world to whom the current Dark Hermetic Epoch (ending October 17) has not been kind.

3 Does Zelensky have “more courage than discretion”? Elon Musk thinks so. “A man, rushing along on horseback, sword in hand, to meet a company of armed men” is fearless but also violent. “He will be liable to get into trouble through rash acts.” If such acts involve nuclear weapons, because of a continuing failure in U. S. diplomacy, G*d help us all.

4 Many are seeking for information, or an inside track, or supernormal psychic evidence, and finding that what seemed to be reliable was more or less illusive. “Try the spirits. Do they confess that Jesus Christ is Lord?” advised an apostle. Jesus said that he had come to “bear witness to the truth.”

5 “A mummer’s mask” denotes “a person of a subtle nature, capable of simulating the character of others, and given to mimicry and imitation.” He or she is “apt to deceive even himself in matters related to the emotions and feelings.” There can be imitation, foolishness, flattery and coquetry.

6 That could go on at “a barn dance” where there is gregariousness and richness of living. There is give-and-take in a friendly, even humorous manner, a sort of leveling of personality which respects the nuances of each and all during the non-demanding “dance.”

1 I don’t know about you, but I am definitely feeling the “dragginess” of the Dark Hermetic Epoch, lasting until October 17, even though I have had some good experiences over the past week. Some people in Florida, for example, are divided into about a thousand search teams looking for survivors of the hurricane to make sure all are safe. A tremendous disruption, and mine is not that hard, more subjective but still noticeable. The symbols for the degrees of the zodiac have been good, however, so let’s proceed with them.

2 “A naked man in the act of falling from a rock into a lake” shows sexual or erotic complications leading to “an untimely fall.” “Take heed against the allurements of the world.”

3 However, “miners emerging from a mine” are escaping from “hampering and unattractive phases of experience” after meeting their demands through strength of character.

4 “A cameo profile of a man in the outline of his country” could be any public character who interests you, or yourself as you are “outlined’ by your national culture. Nationalism is strong in Italy, Sweden, Brazil, and other places and perhaps in the U.S. if MAGA forces win in November. Negatively, this could be stereotypical conventionality, but positively it can be a dedication to community interests and an enhancement of the self as “a focus for group actuality.”

5 In such a process one manifests the particular charms one has been cultivating in oneself, which are magnetically fascinating to those favored with one’s company.

6 “Telephone linemen at work” could, these days, be internet providers. More basically they are all of us as we “link all phases of existence with all others.” People are attached to one another in unexpected ways.

Mercury is stationary and turns direct (in apparent geocentric motion) at 2:09a PT | 5:09a ET | 9:09a UT, but the Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch continues (while Mercury gradually gains speed) until October 17

1 “A prison door fitted with iron spikes and girders” suggests that we still feel imprisoned by delays or obstructions while Mercury slowly gains speed in direct motion. Seclusion, even when it seems enforced, is temporary. Both REminiscence and REsearch are good things to do while Mercury is slow.

2 The way out? “A right angle and plane,” perhaps symbolic of the Masonic Order, show that a humble, industrious, honest life of good works is what we need. There is “justice and fraternity,” the liberal goals of that Order.
