I am going on a vacation, that is, I, Hugh Higgins. Cosmic Piper cannot go on vacation because the planets never stop moving. So Hugh Higgins will try to channel Cosmic Piper even on vacation though with a thinner chant and fewer words. First the data and songs; then a report for both days. During these two days, some may read the Bible on a bus, train or airplane. (This is a symbol.) That is: There is constant motion and yet a clinging to the Eternal. 

Some are giving others what they need in a solicitous way. This is sweetly charming. Others are filled with morale, and then no morale (Via Combusta), and are proud of themselves, their appearance or style, so that those around them could be awed. 

Some are asleep, dreaming, careless. They could lose because they do not have a sense of duty. Yet they observe keenly and are watching for prey, that is, opportunities to get what they want through situations or individuals they can pull to them. They are circumspect, firm in their attachments while spurning those who hurt them. 

So there is charisma and charm, and motion and observation of those who could be used for gain or pleasure. Meanwhile firm duty-based plans may go by the board.

Okay, so you don't have to lose someone! But it might seem that you have. Might as well be prepared, and tough, and able to keep on loving someone or Someone or yourself . . . What else is there to do? (Now you know how G*d feels.)

Truth, justice, and goodness are going to win. Meanwhile you may not like the weather, or something very trying in your location or circumstances. You have gotten yourself into this place, this condition, and you have to endure it. The good, fair, and truthful side of it shall emerge.

Meanwhile, people treat each other to treats and are kind to each other. This might seem unreal, yet it gives an upbeat tone to events which otherwise might seem difficult, risky, hard to endure or survive. Beyond crisis there is renewed kindness. You have to hold on.

Lacking in vigilance or energy, many will succumb to lazy indifference, dreaming of the past and future while losing the present and future. Dreams are good, but present conditions require stern effort and an ability to endure whatever you have gotten yourself into. You are there for a reason and the laws of karma will bless you if you do what is manful (womanful).

There is constant action to keep up with things. Mysterious factors are resolving themselves.

The contests of life are won by those who are gentle yet firm, sure of their ground even when at a disadvantage. So you can be. Such conquest can be cooperative, when you are firmly linked with some who want to help as you help them.

There is much motion, with quick readiness to see advantages in travel from point to point. You can moderate between too much hurry and too much slow complacency and find the right median point. 

Lofty aims and ideals are present, either consciously or in the subconscious background. You can become and be who you want to be, that ideal individual you were born to manifest (or womanifest). This is happening. The sun and Jupiter together in Leo grant us high knowledge of Who we really are. Their square with Mars means we must manifest that knowledge in situations where there is contest or apparent conflict temporarily--which we can see as a sport or game with many benefits for all who play.

We have not been happy with the warring factions within humanity and the tragic suffering they have caused. It is to be hoped that intense differences (Mars square Jupiter) will not cause lapses into bombing and killing. In our personal lives we can take care to preserve peace as best we can.

There are potentials of sudden insight which lead to pioneering  attempts. Nervous energy and executive ability cut out a fresh path. You know how to do what you need to do even in a restricted space, office or workshop.

Erotic energies seek for prey. This can be harmless if an interest in those who might be complementary. There is caution and suavity, so that the object of one's attention or affection does not get away.

An interesting and useful observation: We are going to be in a period, from now through most of August, when there are intense squares from the sign Leo to the sign Scorpio. Here is a general rundown:  Leo can be fun, pleasure, enjoyments of all kind, summery happiness (the sun rules Leo). Scorpio can be a lot of things which put a curtailment or limit on fun, such as death (well, as thought of, as considered, as a limit to things), poverty or lack of resources, expenses, and so on. It can be "the other person's money" as connected with one's own through debts, costs, inheritance, investment, gains or losses and so on. So: We are in a long period of a tug-of-war between those two. You want fun; you can have it! But you will constantly be considering the cost and the limits on it. Curfew? Scorpio. Party till dawn? Leo. So you will be constantly modifying one by the other. Oh, it's almost midnight--party on till the bars close? Or drag ourselves home? That's just one example. It can also be a conflict between the exuberance of young people (Leo) and the limits their wiser elders know are best for them (Scorpio). It is also the conflict between those two things in yourself as your own elder and your own child.

Our task during this period through most of August is to "fight this battle" without making it a battle! In other words, to be very cool about it. To be aware of the two sides of the situation and gently modify one by the other, both within ourselves and in relation to a friend, lover, acquaintance, stranger. We could make the "tug of war" a "tug of love." Or, if lucky, a "tub of love" . . . (Scorpio and Leo together suggest a hot tub.)

There are other more profound meanings of this square which we will consider as the days go by.

Monday:  The v-of-c means, take it easy, doing your work, but only the basic stuff that needs to be taken care of, or new stuff that is routine and necessary. There can be liberation, vitality, graciousness.

Embarrassing incidents need to be accepted for what they are. Perhaps they are warnings to you, or just indications of ways you might improve your bearing. When the beans are spilled, someone blushes; or there could be public flatulence. Or you spill out an embarrassing revelation. Maybe it had to happen. 

Then you consider your appearance. You needn't worry too much about it, though you might modify your grooming (again!) and spend a lot of time in front of a mirror. 

There is energy and vitality, a fiery urge to be something stupendous, which you can do. Go for it, even if (in the v-of-c) it is more like trial and error, with a lot of error. So it has been for the finest accomplishers. You have some mission which wants out, an outlet.

I'm not sure why I chose this for today, but I love the music--the lyrics are mysterious; I haven't fully fathomed them. 

What do you have to do with mathematics? It might be formal math for those equipped for that, or maybe you just toy with numbers and proportions in some area of your life, but you could profitably spend time on that. (For a musician, math is chords, harmonies and rhythms; for a businessman, spreadsheets, and so on.)

The mental tone of the day carries on into language, for which you may feel facility, and fascinating areas of knowledge. You see into opposites and how to reconcile them, as in Taoism or Hegelianism. Life is more than the moon, but we either mold the waxing and waning moons or they mold us. Hegel knew it; and accomplished Taoists know it.

People have a desire to modify themselves, maybe their bodies, hair for example, in order to be better channels for self-expression and participation in trends around them. 

There is much restlessness, and also obstruction. When some plans are blocked, others dart into view and one tries them out, trying to get from here to there quickly, with constant activity. Long-term advantages can be seen and grasped, making up for any recent losses or expenses. 

Mars has been in the sign Libra for a very long time, since December 7. Today it goes into Scorpio until September 13. In Libra, Mars was in the sign of its detriment. This is not "bad" but can cause wavering, indecisive behavior, and a tendency to rely on someone else for decisions. Now, in Scorpio, we may feel more sure of ourselves and our long-term direction.

This gets one dimension of Mars in Scorpio square both sun and Jupiter in Leo--Mars being the younger man and Jupiter-sun the older one commenting on his unmanly, boyish irresponsible behavior. Another version is harder to listen to but shows the singer and his group laboring through the song for a TV show. 

Organizing things at home seems essential. Suffering and gloom can be alleviated or avoided by settling down to ordinary tasks. There is curiosity and friendliness. You can sense what is useful (and what not) immediately. It is enjoyable to feel sympathy with strangers or casual acquaintances. There is catholic interest in life as a whole. When one avenue is blocked, others come into view, if one maintains morale.

I wish there were some magical words I could say to get you through this difficult day. As it is, I hope that warnings will stiffen your spine and give you courage to face the issues coming up.

A sort of disconnection from one's native land is something many will feel. Where am I, why am I in this peculiar situation? Why do I have to work so hard at things which seem meaningless? 

Then there can be intensely indignant feelings. One senses the trickiness of the world or individuals in it. One senses one's inner integrity rising up as, "I will not tolerate this nonsense in people, so I will live my own life apart from them and not let them interfere, and be at peace in my own wise world." 

So far so good. Then one may see in some individuals (Palestinians in Israelis and, with less justification, the reverse) intensely angry or hateful feelings which could overpower them and take them to the point of something close to murder, or else if it works out only on the emotional plane to violent emotions of revulsion (which might fairly be called hate). We all need to learn to control such intense indignation and I know no better way than through prayer, with faith in the Highest. Being taciturn is normal at times; or melancholy; but cruelty has to be avoided assiduously.

Even if you think you don't like Christian songs, you might find this one uplifting.

On a less intense level, some will be wanting to improve their appearance or way of presenting themselves, through fiddling with hair or clothing or whatnot. There are decisions about one's way of participating in the social milieu. There is also a sight-seeing propensity, a curiosity about people and life, which need not be morbid even when observing what appears sick or wrong in some individuals. A friendlier trend could be evoked, if one maintains enough optimism to do it, with a wider range of understanding and sympathy, with a recognition of equality (moon trine Uranus even as it squares Saturn).

What is indefinite is interesting. You are a mariner determining the course of the wind with a streamer or pennant.  You change from object to object.  You wander, or your mind does. Yet you care about your career, no matter how mysterious it seems to yourself and others at this point. Irregularity is a sign of things developing in fresher ways. 

Who is a dove, and who a  snake? You are one or the other. Between them there is a subtle fascination. Will the snake injure the dove? Probably, but not necessarily; there could be a transformation of the image into something less disturbing and more thrilling and satisfying. Some are willing to be used (not injured), if they gain something in the process, even just entertainment. Maybe the dove and snake are interchangeable; while you are with someone, sometimes you are one and sometimes the other, and likewise she or he. You seem to threaten but also thrill each other.

There is entertainment and amusement. You can be in the presence of someone artistic, musical, youthful. While this goes on, or afterward, you become thoughtful, philosophic, able to contemplate things (in others' lives and your own) in depth. Therefore you sense trends and are prescient.

The intensity of the squares between Mars and the sun-Jupiter conjunction, plus an increasing square between Mercury and Uranus, make it hard to give the day more than two stars, although the sun-Jupiter conjunction in itself is fortunate, and the moon's sextile with Uranus in late afternoon-evening is liberating, and helpful in friendship.

The following forecast covers not only Tuesday but Wednesday and Thursday. I shall be doing it this way--forecasts for several days at a time--for the rest of July and at least half of August, which is shaping up as a vacation time for me. I shall continue to post a daily forecast, the bulk of which may be a repetition for several days in  a row, based upon these longer-than-daily trends. But I shall continue to give the daily data as before and brief comments on most days.

Forecast for Sunday July 20 through Thursday July 24, five days:

Differences among people may seem rankling. The old feeling teenagers almost universally feel, "Why am I so different from everyone else?" recurs even in maturity. The empty rostrum suggests you could be missing your calling, or failing to make yourself heard. A little extra confidence could help.

Some will assert themselves powerfully, which could result in a scuffle. Temerity is an interesting quality, and males display it (perhaps females as well). An insignia or ceremony may be significant. There could be sternness and revenge. Yet controversies may be settled. Someone will follow his own bent, whether or no, regardless of anyone else or you, and this may be partly pleasing and partly rankling.

Things are intensified so you need aplomb. You can reflect on things from a very high perspective. You possess an enormous advantage, many gifts. If you are adaptable you will conceal some of what you are trying to do from those who don't understand, but reveal what they can get. 

There is much goodness in someone you respect, even a magical healing quality. You may, through his or her influence, discover something amazing which could benefit those in one of your communities. Attending with concentration and without fear to some career aim could have strong results. You can use cause-and-effect rules to advantage in your work, as if noticing and abiding by timing in music.

Some are docile, willing to work and play under the direction of others. Whether it is you or a partner, or an interchange so that now one is docile and now the other, it leads to high attainments in both, as if each were knighting the other. Dignity and ambition need to be modified by a kind heart or else someone is a tyrant. At best there can be sympathy and strong attachments, with devotion to someone beloved.

Good fortune in terms of finances is on your mind; perhaps you have attained it to some degree and are basking in it. Whatever is beautiful in nature and people attracts you powerfully. Bodily strength and courage is evident in others and yourself, although it seems you can only attempt some things partially or with a scrawl of the pen. More determined, focused concentration could help.

There is beauty and harmony in nature and your surroundings. What the eye beholds could even lead you to adoration of the Highest through awareness of His or Her manifestations. There is watchfulness as to what will benefit you in terms of income or possessions, and you care about someone else also in that regard.
