^Mediocre or Magical Night^

Let's revel in a multitude of symbols for the day, and see how they jostle in our minds.  'A sealed roll of parchment lying across a scepter' suggests government positions which are secretive, and none of us like the Deep State or Administrative State utterly divorced from the Will of the People and from the liberty for which our nation is supposed to stand.  'Books and papers in disorder' suggest prolific writing and intellectual pursuits.  What is novel is not always a novel but could be a scientific disquisition or essay into uncharted (disordered) territory.  'A tankard set upon a table' suggests old friends and free sympathies with others over a wassail glass; frankness and transparency with humor plus psychological truth.  Some may experience such cheer on this New Year's Eve.   

'A large group of pheasants' are just hanging out together, whether masked or not, like the amorphous crowds we often have experienced on a New Year's night.  Nothing to see there, probably.  Mediocrity reduplicates mediocrity.  'A woman entering a convent' would rather say the rosary privately to bring in the new year.  Others may wax mystical or occult, seeking the Unknowable in this supposedly seminal season, voyaging toward 'the Pyramids and the Sphinx.'  Mysterious, impressive monuments 'provide the fabric for a fellowship of creative capacity.'  We imagine the fresh year as shepherding us to something stupendous.  

If the Old Year has us still floundering, we may catch a lifebuoy thrown to us by someone or Someone who cares, a godsend to reassure us we are safe.  Then we may be up for 'inspecting horses,' that is, evaluating plans, opportunities, or eventualities.  What horse do you want to ride into 2022?  Would we be credulous, or perhaps way ahead of the skeptics, if we were to take up 'art magic' as 'a magician in sacerdotal vestments standing in a magic circle performing rites' to make 2022 something wonderful?

There are selfish, miserly tendencies, in others or yourself, of which you become aware.  Yet there is also 'a man at the gate keeping guard over an encampment of women, little children, old people and invalids,' that is, philanthropists and benefactors who may inspire you and for whom you are grateful.  We ought to remember the defenseless.  When things seem darkest with them, as if floundering in the water, someone can throw them a lifebuoy to save them from bankruptcy.   

When 'a widow's past is brought to light' there is soul-searching, which clears away tears and regrets and brings about a rectification and an integration of personality.  'A woman entering a convent' has accepted a challenge to her soul's potentialities and extends herself to nurture others and preserve spiritual values.  Cosmic insight fosters enduring allegiances.

'An owl sitting in the moonlight' is patient, prudent, and self-possessed.  She or he ponders what is occult and distant, or takes up the study of abstruse philosophical questions.  When friendlier moods take possession we appreciate 'a tankard set upon a table' and share insights and passions with someone in a frank or blunt manner, free of craftiness and disguise.

~Ideals Provide Hope and Strength~

A new Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch begins at 1: 30a PT | 4: 30a ET | 9: 30a UT (until February 24)

'A cross and a broken key' could indicate factors prevalent during the new Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch beginning today.  It might seem like 'the adverse fate of failure and disappointment,' but of course we can choose to abandon or modify 'abortive enterprises' and be patient, with humility of spirit (the cross), so that some key may turn in some lock.  Another pitfall of the DHE can be giving up into sybaritic or voluptuous delights, symbolized by 'a fair woman sporting herself on a couch.'  'Nothing is working, so why not just indulge myself?'  One could find that being kind to people rather than lusting after them fosters freedom from senile ineptitude. 

A T square with the moon, Mars and Uranus in fixed signs could translate into 'a flag that turns into an eagle that crows,' that is, a fidelity to allegiances (whether political or otherwise) which support your idealized ambitions.  Your 'flag' helps you believe in and establish yourself.  Jupiter has entered Pisces, where it is happy, and Venus retrograde is moving to a sextile with Neptune, and so 'an angel carrying a harp' gives you the natural enthusiasm of 'human motives in their original inception.'  'A continuing sense of spiritual source' enables one to 'avoid the limitations in any given situation and so drive to a point of self-fulfillment.'  Attuned to harmony, one inspires others as well as oneself.

Another 'angel form' is at the top of a steep hill up whose steps one is climbing.  He or she gives words of cheer and holds a golden crown in readiness.  The climb is hard but worthy.  The steps are steps of a mission.  There are more mundane blessings as well, indicated by 'an apple tree bending with ripe fruit' and 'a field of ripe corn.'

There's a back-to-work feeling in the air (as of yesterday) yet also a bit of the 'take a break' Christmas spirit, as in 'a series of  bubbles floating in the air.'  This could indicate 'elasticity and expansiveness of soul' so that one appreciates the sparkling, bright aspects of the holiday season (Happy Fourth Day of Christmas!).  Worse, it could suggest mere dabbling in vanities or pseudo-occult would-be verities.  Yet real verities may float within or between the bubbles. The challenging third of the week could result in some isolation, with vigils or 'strengthening of the spirit in lonely meditation.'  One could emulate 'an eagle carrying its prey in mid-air' while engaged in solitary musing. The 'prey' is ethereal or spiritual pabulum.

'A man desponding on a barren plain with leaden-colored clouds overhead' is also suffering the 'gloomy third' of this week.  However, he may be surprised and pleased to find that he owns 'a field of ripe corn in which reapers are at work 'neath the beams of the Sun.'  Fortune may smile, conferring abundance.

Or if one's business requires trading, one could be like 'an oriental-rug dealer.'  One has a consignment of goods, or capital or talent, to invest, and this can be the basis of effective practicality through beneficent transactions.  Competency weaves values into the human fabric.  Then there are 'birds in the house singing happily' because spirit or intelligence is shaping circumstances to reveal 'the higher vision by which man remains himself at core.'  The individual is impregnably independent, and singing, when happily established.

Those who are diplomatic yet assertive need to be treated with reserve and firmness.  They attain ambitions yet make enemies.  Dangerous projects, if ethical, can succeed eventually.  There could be strong attachments combined with selfish designs which bring on trouble or resentment.  One ought not to rail against everyone and everything, nor succumb to jealousy.  

Rather, one could be assertive yet 'nobly disposed, high-minded, honorable; bold, courageous, and fearless of foes.'  Charubel says that this is like 'a lion standing alone with tail erect, running toward a panther.'  It's a matter of protecting one's own and what is right.  (Mars is both quincunx Uranus and sextile Saturn.)  The Via Combusta could be responsible for 'a maze,' leading one into enigmatic researches which, even if apparently profitless, are ingenious.  Life is not endlessly complicated, yet it is reassuring to figure out some of its complexities to one's satisfaction.

Mercury is slowing down and, as reported often here, a Dark Hermetic (Mercurial) Epoch shall begin on Wednesday the 29th (until February 23).  Meanwhile we have 'the lamp of physical enlightenment at the left temple,' or 'enlarged understanding following on a ceaseless experiment with one or another mode of self-expression.'  The world is 'a laboratory for the soul,' providing 'the reality each seeks for himself.'  We can reconcile any contradictions the Via Combusta throws at us, and thereby become 'a veiled prophet of power' or 'a master of natural forces in order to meet strain and turmoil.'  There can be prophetic insight into the motives of people and 'a consequent gift for organizing their efforts along any given line of accomplishment.'  This results in personal supremacy over the issues of the first paragraph.

There are difficult or disturbing symbols, as warnings, so I'll give them, but with the caveat that the lingering Christmas angels and human goodwill can mitigate them:  'A butcher' (maybe a dispute about veganism or vegetarianism), 'cross-swords' (quarrels or variances over politics or whatnot), and 'too revolting to be given' which suggests giving in to tempting weaknesses through bad or frivolous company.  We need those angels.

'A dark archway with ten logs at the bottom' may seem mysterious, because it is too early to convert Christmas trees to logs, but it suggests 'getting at the bottom of things' in a way which uncovers whatever is useful.  One is thorough in investigating and using 'ramifying potentials.'  The 'dark archway' could be dark days just after the solstice, with a reminder that they have given us a harvest, whether Christmas presents or something else.  At best, passing through the arch one may meet 'a golden-haired goddess of opportunity.'  There can be pleasing rewards through 'unconditioned expectation' plus 'tireless outreaching to the wonders of an everyday world.'  

The moon is not full but remains gibbous, and we have 'a full moon shining in a clear sky' to suggest superior abilities and powers of assimilation so that one shines by reflected light.  Ease and grace in displaying one's capacities may outshine others' attempts.  This need not result in egotism because there is also affection and devotion.  'A heart surmounted by an aureole' is fearless confidence in those to whom one's heart has been given.  Concentrating guilelessly on that to which one is devoted brings success.

It's pleasant not to be the Grinch on Christmas, as I have been sometimes when there are tough aspects for the day.  Luna is forming a Grand Trine with planets in earth signs, good for harmony and sharing.  This might seem contradicted by 'Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance.'  But that is 'an irresistible impulse to action' and so could be games people really feel like playing.  There could be mobilization of a group project through leadership.  'A mother with her children on stairs' is educating them gently even on Christmas when they might get out of hand through presumed child-privilege.  Her conscience and theirs assembles them according to the talent and temperament of each. 

There is a warning to avoid whatever is ethically 'revolting' but tempting, perhaps through the seduction of someone.   Some may be wordy or oratorical, spicing the festivities with vivid monologues or, better, conversations.    At other times you, or someone, might prefer to withdraw, to appreciate one's own genius independent of external aids, not needing to display oneself.  

'A house on fire' is not literal but denotes the fire of visionary zeal or enthusiastic inspiration.  A definite idealistic purpose may be worthwhile yet seem impractical.  It can be tempered and made friendly so that all may enter 'a small cottage with wide-open door,' the 'cottage' of the perfect Christmas host or hostess.  Cheers to him or her!  'Austere in his own methods of life he will nevertheless show much sympathy for others, and compassion for their weaknesses and foibles.'  Let's celebrate within this merry Christmas hospitality!

'A house on fire,' along with Luna squaring Mars, suggests zeal and enthusiasm, perhaps too headstrong and impulsive.  The 'fire' is inspiration plus fevered activity to make it alive in the world.  One could exhaust one's vital powers in activity less than prudent though temporarily thrilling.  It could be better to use 'a vestal lamp burning brightly' to study what is essentially spiritual, allowing aspiration and intuition to reveal 'the higher mysteries' which angels whisper at this season.  At a peak this is initiation into hidden truth.

'The world is too much with us' (said Wordsworth) and Charubel warns against something 'too revolting to be given' and advises avoiding bad company.  'A man on a platform with an audience in front' suggests a church service, for some, or connecting with something oratorical or literary.  Shining over us, or in the west just after sunset, is Venus as the evening star and she is natural and artistic refinement plus a delight in the company of the opposite sex.  The beautiful is with us in holiday ornamentation.

'A party entering a large canoe' means various things depending on whether you or someone else is directing the gathering.  Practical details need to be arranged for the sake of group activity.  Each one wants the others to attend to what interests himself or herself.  Eventually things get ordered effectively.  'A mother with her children on stairs' knows that each has her or his particular defects and talents so that a child lower on one stair is higher on another.  Extended to the community, this understanding gives a sanctioned place to each participant in any moment of Christmas Eve celebration.

It's fortunate that the hardest part of this week will be over before Christmas Eve (tomorrow).  Meanwhile one might feel like 'a man stripped to the shirt, with sleeves up, wheeling a barrow along a plank,' that is, as if one were a servant or toiler.  However, there is robust or resurging health, as if one were a 'gigantic dragon tree' with boundless resources of vitality.  

Good aspects with Mercury bring out foresight or even profundity, like 'a serpent coiled around an uplifted beacon.'  This could be in any field, with friendly social accompaniments.  'His light will shine.  Those near and far will rely on his knowledge and follow the light of his leading.'  In more informal moments, 'two men are playing cards together.'  Both could be hopeful, joyful, venturesome, with cheery good spirits. 

Yet the square between Saturn and Uranus is exact today and tomorrow, the opposite of cheery, so no matter the mood there are 'rocks and things forming therein,' Saturn being the rocks while the 'things forming' are Uranus, prodding old things (Saturn) toward something fresh (Uranus).  This development can be painful or uneasy, yet the rocks, as your endowment, are what you capitalize on while they compose themselves into something better through your initiative.  Both Mercury and Venus approaching sextiles with Neptune show that 'the human soul is receptive to growth and understanding' through a naive capacity for experience, leaning upon 'the understanding and support of fellow-participants in each moment of self-discovery.'  This can be the kaleidoscopic avidity of the Christmas spirit.

'A group of cattle browsing in a rustic setting' might be comforting and placidic, except that it's winter, and 'the arrow of a vane is pointing north,' that is, toward colder weather, which I expect to hit most places the second half of January and early February.  Today we should avoid vacillation and procrastination, and get on with things, while yet enjoying moments of sheer uneventful 'browsing' when feasible.

It's possibly the hardest day of this week, with Luna opposing Saturn.  'Three stained-glass windows, one damaged by bombardment' suggest it is good to conserve what one has and protect it from damage; also to commemorate whatever sacrifices others have made for the general welfare.  Despite problems, the moon in Leo gives romantic leanings, so 'Cupid is knocking at the door.'  There could be 'an insatiable appetite for enlarged experience,' with the allurement of 'self-consummative intimacies.'  

It is wise to facilitate health through good diet plus exercise, and re-establish the foundations of one's life.  What is secure for you is like 'a lofty building, with nave and massive pillars on each hand.'  We venerate the sacred or the antique, even down to a rustic shack containing a manger.  This links us in consciousness with the best and hardiest of the past.  There can be good fortune:  'A lady is sitting on a divan fanning herself.'  The 'good things of this life' multiply during Christmastime and there is merry prosperity.

The Winter Solstice occurs at 8:00a PT | 11:00a ET | 4:00p UT

The focus for most seems to be work, whether duties one has assumed or personal projects.  But there are game-like elements mixed with the effort, so that sportsmanship is a healthy ideal to live by.  That means that temporary loss is just part of the game, not to be fretted about.  'An Indian chief demanding recognition' has maintained his advantages and so feels secure in the place he has made for himself.  You have effective authority following from 'a single eye of vision.'

At times one might feel that one's tasks are not adequately rewarded or appreciated, as if one were 'a mill-wheel driven by the wind' of circumstances. Or one might feel independent in one's job or profession, yet concerned about certain individuals who are having a hard time.  Letting them know you care could be good for them and you.  There is alternation of two or more occupations, it seems, versatility displayed with finesse.  One might link those who before were separate.  'A boy and girl stand with arms entwined.'  Venus is retrograde, and Mars moving away from his sextile with her, so one might feel as if love-connections are missing, yet 'arms entwined' show that we are not really apart from one another.  

With maturity comes a lack of personal vanity because of realistic understanding that we are interdependent.  And so one could be like 'a man standing on a rocky eminence with arms folded, in a contemplative mood.'  'Generally he is right' says Charubel.  Self-possessed, one has confidence in one's abilities and in the cause one has espoused.

~Ray of Light in Solstitial Darkness~

The Winter Solstice occurs tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:00a PT | 11:00a ET | 4:00p UT

One might feel imposed upon by people or the world, as if one were yielding to injustice.  One is inventive and ingenious, and does something useful, but gets insufficient credit or respect.  However, on this day before the Solstice one could receive revelations or make discoveries, relying on one's own designs while ignoring advice.  Protracted attempts bring ultimate success.

Those who are vain 'view themselves in a looking-glass' and delight in their charms.  Yet they could receive more appreciation if they would pursue some calling which aids others to appreciate themselves.  On this darkest day of the year we are 'alone in a dark and gloomy valley' yet 'a ray of brilliant light comes direct from the heavens on the crowns of our heads.'  Thus we make the darkest days a festival of light.  But some are 'cyclic men, not time men,' as Charubel puts it, living beyond their day and consequently not understood.

There is pleasure in the simple semi-competitions of life where winning is just playing the game, lose or win.  'A game of cricket' represents sportsmanship where one gives one's all to win but then relaxes and smiles if one has lost.  Recognition from team-mates is supportive.  At a deeper level, at this abyss of the year a Star appears and 'the Pope' represents the sanctity we crave for, a sacrifice of self for the benefit of all.  By appreciating another's sacrifice we are strengthened and inspired to make our own.

Christmas Fortnight of December 10 through 26

1 We considered some highlights of this period last week, which you might want to review, and now I shall re-embroider that with a fresh viewpoint.  We remain in a Bright Hermetic Epoch, but not much longer, until December 29 a few days after this fortnight ends.  It could be good to wrap up any research you are doing or any planning of strategies, agendas, or schedules.  Now is the time to figure things out (for early 2022) rather than after the 28th.

2  That does not mean everything is easy now.  "A cross and a broken key" (one of the symbols for the fortnight) sounds like some technological problems I am having, such as the impossibility of using a new WiFi system with my printer.  The struggle goes on and on and indeed the "key" seems to be broken (as well as the so-called customer service).  However, Mercury is trine Uranus, good for technical matters, and I have had good luck with some of them as well as bad.  The good depended on sticking through everything and trying again and again.  

3  That "try again and again" is Saturn square Uranus, exact for the whole fortnight.  Here are some symptoms of an afflicted Saturn according to the Heindels in The Message of the Stars:  Malicious, materialistic, melancholy, pessimistic, avaricious, obstructive, secretive, and worrisome.  The afflicted Uranus:  Licentious, unconventional, fanatical, and irresponsible. I notice these symptoms more in others than myself, and probably you do too.   Saturn is the old and Uranus the new, and they are in conflict.  Sometimes the old is better while the new stupidly, overagerly wants change;  sometimes the new is better while the old stupidly, obstructively wants regression; and sometimes a painful evolution needs to be carried out, with elements of both wrestling until a fresh approach emerges.  

4   For the holiday season we have "window-shoppers" which neatly depicts shopping online through onscreen "windows."  Or maybe through old-fashioned shop windows.  There is uncertainty over whether someone will appreciate a novel gift (Uanus bi-septile Venus).  What we visualize we do not necessarily "buy" or acquire.  (I myself am not big on gift-giving, preferring the more symbolic, festive kinds of sharing.) 

5  Venus united with Pluto are both in sextiles with Mars on one side and Neptune on the other. This can be observation of, or experience of, how people mingle their sex lives with their monetary lives, or how people exploit one another in a smooth rather than harsh manner so that the exploitation doesn't hurt but is a kind of give-and-take of personal favors and affections. (I saw a movie last night which perfectly exemplified that theme.)  I suppose that Christmas-giving and Christmas-getting could be considered a form of mutual exploitation, if one chose to be cynical (Scrooge!).  

6  Mercury trine Uranus could call forth what is 'quick-witted, versatile, eloquent, literary, adroit and dexterous' along with what is 'advanced, romantic original, independent, liberty-loving and inventive' (the Heindels' keywords for favorable aspects to these two).  

7  "A water sprite" and "a mountain pilgrimage" are antithetical: restlessness versus perseverance.  The "water sprite" could become an alcohol sprite through holiday drinking, but the "pilgrimage" as the deeper meaning of the season will get the upper hand.  We want to persevere with idealistic projects, and also with prayer and meditation permeated by the season's manger-spell.

8  Whenever there seems to be trouble, crisis, or excitement, there can be a calming influence as if one were crossing  'an old bridge over a beautiful stream.'  There is conservation of whatever is precious.  'A tortoise' is so patient that he always attains the position he has set out to gain.  'A man of middle age watching over a cradle' may repine over a younger or less mature person's problems, bound by ties of kinship or love.  Without complaining he suffers in silence, not deserting those he cares about.  Could either be you?  

9  'An angel carrying a harp' attunes us to over-all harmony, whether listening to Christmas carols or not, making our mental endeavors inspiring because they are continually linked with their spiritual source.  

10  'A tortoise' is so patient that he always attains the position he has set out to gain.  Plenty of time, relax, and then four feet ahead.  'A butterfly emerging from its chrysalis' represents 'self-renewing purity, the emanation of wonders from the formless matrix of the inner being.'  Somewhere there is 'an old owl up in a tree' indicating very cool, reserved, unruffled normality.  One can observe the conflicts in human affairs with wisdom, self-restraint, and steadiness.  'What is that to me, or you, or whoom?'  Is that old owl hiding in some Christmas tree?

Things are interesting at the emotional level of links with people, but there is a likelihood of disapproval, as if one were 'beneath the paw of a lion rampant.'  The reproach of important or influential people in your world cannot harm you if you remain stable and purposed, with geared-up initiative.  'A soldier holding a crossbow stands behind an enclosure' and is prudent and careful even though enamored of combat.  He, she or you may be on the defensive, but well equipped.  

'A person walking on the edge of a precipice' could be reckless and impulsive, yet honorable and affectionate.  There is much beauty in his or her life, and the glory of a painter, poet or musician.  Will this promise be fulfilled, this talent fully blossomed?  That is not sure.  Hoping for the best helps it come true.

'A little child learning to walk' is strengthening her or his powers, rehearsing functions which facilitate free individuality.  All do this when learning something new, or re-learning a skill needing renewal.  The stumbles are part of the learning.  At a more mature level, when truly competent at a mastered talent, one is 'a sculptor' who idealizes nature by bringing it to subjection in order to immortalize it.  Self-expression builds experience into fulfillment for oneself and all.

Things remain intense with the square between Saturn and Uranus closing like a vise, but this means challenges you probably know about already and are working on.  It seems like a race sometimes.  You are trying to fill a giant's shoes, expecting a lot of yourself as if you were a prodigy.  The sun's sextile with Jupiter aids in this.  You might 'sit at a desk with drawing instruments and paper' or the high-tech equivalent of that, handling details of computerization, printing or smartphone tech in creative ways.  

The opposition you meet might be handled more smoothly if you look at it as 'two men playing chess,' so that you are refining skills, mobilizing potentials and abilities, to meet challenges as if in a game.  Losing just means playing again.  You might, in a more serious mode, be 'a flag-bearer,' upholding noble ideals when they seem to be 'flagging' around you.  It seems to me that we need to protect our freedoms. One might see doing that as a game with high stakes. 

Some symbols hint at country scenes,  in memory if not reality.  Other indications are of an imitative, manneristic, playful person who is actually kind and sympathetic.   The 'mask' he or she wears is designed for revelatory drama.  At the peak of things we have, again, 'The Goddess of Mercy enthroned.'  Someone humane, with inherent virtue, undertakes hard things for the sake of others.  His or her sympathy extends on all sides in a limitless circle of blessing.

Saturn square Uranus, tightening by the day, makes us impatient, or rather correlates by cosmic harmony with things which make us impatient.  I would not blame anyone for that because I am going through some very trying things which require more patience than I ordinarily summon.  "A man with a drawn sword" is not willing to wait, and some may be pursuing litigation or other means of forcing an issue. Yet we could calm ourselves in various ways, such as viewing the countryside or nostalgic photos of Christmas, or through "three cups of wine on a table in the form of a triangle."  This could be spiritual or mental intoxication. Who are two others with whom you would like to share your drink?

"A chubby boy on a hobbyhorse" may be going nowhere but in his mind is emulating someone impressive like a fabled cowboy.  "The ocean covered with whitecaps" is the irrepressibility of personal energies.  When more serious we may be undertaking "a mountain pilgrimage," persevering with indomitable integrity to attain an ideal we have envisioned. The climb is easy when deeply inspired.

"Two men running a race" remind us of the winter olympics coming up in February, but the "two men'' could more importantly be the Communist Chinese Criminal Party versus Western support for human rights, and some enlightened nations shall not be participating.   "A stupendous waterfall" suggests a desire to escape into the marvelous.  Let's hope that by the end of the day we can be like "a man in a balloon with the dark clouds beneath him," having survived trials by experimenting with life wisely.  "Success will ultimately crown his labors."

P. S.  I try to keep politics out of these reports, but things are dire now when it comes to individual rights, what with some state and federal governments threatening individual bodily freedom with vaccination mandates.  I urge all to contact their Senators to vote against HR 550, a bill which would give enormous powers to the CDC to track personal medical history and ultimately control peoples' individual medical procedures.  This is extremely dangerous.  You could also visit this site and sign a petition:  https://stopvaxpassports.org/  But it would be better to also write or call your Senators individually.

The hardest part of the day involves argumentation or conflict, or a need to force things somehow, as 'a man standing with drawn sword.'  One feels that without some quick resolution there could be serious loss.  Scenes of the country, of rusticity, directly or in memory, could aid cam perspective.

The emphasis on activity is highlighted by 'two men running a race,' 'a stupendous waterfall,' and 'a ship in full sail.  Getting from here to there, and back, and keeping alert in the midst of inevitable change, will soothe stress and make everything better.  

The ocean covered with whitecaps'  represents irresistible personal energy, indomitable resourcefulness.  'A mountain pilgrimage' is perseverance in devotion to a worthwhile endeavor.  Despite the day's difficulties there are promising signs and portents, such as 'a bluebird standing at the door of the house.'  Conscious worthiness and radiant good will bring good fortune.

Venus conjunct Pluto, both squared by the moon, could be factors in people which are revolting or disturbing.  You could find out their source 'with a lamp in hand, at the bottom of a deep ravine' of consciousness, and thus get the better of dangerous inclinations.  You can see through plots like a good detective.  

Emotional pain results from misplaced confidence or insecure affections.  Discretion helps love when allied with it.  One does not reject the Other because of her or his foibles but avoids over-dependence and jealousy. Freedom of spirit and love of simplicity make one content with what one has.  'Distant sailing boats on an open seascape' represent hopes and interests you hold in reserve.  Eventually they work out irresistibly in your favor.

A restless quality seeks, spontaneously, to escape the drab or the commonplace.  This could take the form of 'immigrants entering,' that is, 'opportunity caught and held in advance' of the actual entrance into a new frontier.  All this is likely to be more subjective than objective.  The upsurging past rather than the future gives genuine satisfaction, as in 'a Grand Army of the Republic campfire,' that is, deep appreciation of prior phases of experience and those involved in them.  The campfire could be a candle, or lights on a tree.

1  We remain in a Bright Hermetic Epoch, but not much longer, until December 29 a few days after this fortnight ends.  It could be good to wrap up any research you are doing or any planning of strategies, agendas, or schedules.  Now is the time to figure things out (for early 2022) rather than after the 28th.

2  The Saturn-Uranus square remains strong and increases.  Here are some symptoms of an afflicted Saturn according to the Heindels in The Message of the Stars:  Malicious, materialistic, melancholy, pessimistic, avaricious, obstructive, secretive, and worrisome.  The afflicted Uranus:  Licentious, unconventional, fanatical, and irresponsible.  All of this is what we are up against this Fortnight.

3  But there is gift-giving, or "window-shoppers," a visualization of something pleasing or a procurement of it and giving of it, or not.  At another level there is 'man tete-a-tete with his inspiration' which could rise to a sort of ecstasy.

4  Mars square Jupiter, said by CEO Carter (magnificent astrologer) to be (with the opposition of those two) the hardest aspect of all, was stronger last Fortnight but is still with us.  It is, in a word, disagreement, whether over politics, vaccines, international affairs, or religion.

I suppose that Christmas-giving and Christmas-getting could be considered a form of mutual exploitation.

1  Taking care of ordinary things without fanfare is a good option.  'A plowman plowing' is a steady and industrious plodder.

2  Mars exactly square Jupiter can stoke disagreement to the point of disaster, or of momentary crisis.  We have the issues of Russia and the Ukraine, legally challenged vaccine mandates, and protests about the Olympics given China's glaring human rights atrocities.  'A warrior plumed, haranguing a multitude of armed soldiers' is persuasive and brave.  He leads by reasonable authority and able expression.  If there seems to be someone like this on both sides of a battle, one has to choose one's side.

3  There are somewhat hidden or secretive goings-on in regard to business or income.  'An oriental-rug dealer' has a consignment of goods to dispose of with the aid of acquired skills and competence.  His use of various advantages and resources is also a benefit to others engaged in the commerce.

4  When taking a break from 'plowing' one could emulate 'tiny children in sunbonnets' who are cloistered in innocent, happy normality.  One's potentials and opportunities are there to be explored, and expressed through a chosen role played with the other 'children.'  

5  The moon brings out Mercury's increasing sextile with Jupiter, good for business.  This could come out as 'a field of ripe corn; the reapers are at work 'neath the beams of the Sun.'  Fortune smiles, and an abundance is one's lot.
