Attempting things beyond one's own powers is not wise unless one knows what one is doing or is willing to keep at it while suffering obstruction or delay. One might feel one is in a labyrinth, yet this could be self-created. It is all right to follow one's own eccentric path if it seems inevitable. 

Gaining much as if in secret is possible, "Santa Claus filling stockings furtively." So you might give, whether the recipient knows you gave or not. Santa could favor you and you could in turn be Santa.

You may be one-up on things which are imponderable, or almost unmeasurable. You have been working on them a long time and somehow feel you have risen above uncertainty or doubt about them. 

Young people are wonderful, whether your own or not, because sometimes they are willing to be led by the hand in order to learn and grow. This could be happening for you and them.

You know your own aptitudes but perhaps should underestimate them now rather than overestimate them, in order to avoid getting in over your head. "A girl blowing a bugle" is summoning you to do some tasks which need doing even though they are not inspiring at first, though you will feel good after accomplishing them.

}Principled Yet Kindly Honesty{

People may slander others without realizing they are doing it, when "looking through the large end of the telescope," that is, minimizing everyone but themselves. (Methinks this is common online where we each have our pedestal or soap-box.) 

You estimate possibilities with curiosity, and this is interesting and perhaps profitable, though you will need to take action eventually. However, while we remain in the Slow or Dark Hermetic Epoch (while Mercury slowly gains speed for two more weeks), it may be appropriate to be in "a glass-bottomed boat in still water."

There is a desire to emulate those we admire. This can be done through "parallel play" or pretending we have their good qualities or skills.

Beauty, gentleness, and amiability, traditionally feminine traits, can be found in both sexes. One wants to please others. 

There is also conscience, and this needs to be listened to, so that one does not weakly "please" people by truckling to their wrong, unethical or anti-spiritual tendencies or opinions.  That is to be untrue to oneself, one's higher ideals and the Supreme. There are times (which tend to sneak up on us) when taking a principled stand is crucial. Doing this is easier when one has been trained spiritually toward illumination.

There are potentials of rare insight into things of importance, even clairvoyance, or skill with astrology or whatever gives you superior knowledge.

Contemplating one's own excellences is okay if it gives one needed confidence. Others will be doing the same, as if peacocks.

Play is training. We emulate those we admire and grow into their skills through imitating them.

There can be victory while others around you fail. It is not good to take pleasure in their failure but one is glad one is winning in a singular manner.

Warmth of personality brings benefits to all. People "link arms" to get into the spirit of the joy of living. Amicable relations and mutual accord enable us to "instruct" one another toward happiness without trying.

Mercury turned direct Thursday morning at 7:00a PT | 10:00a ET | 2:00p UT. However, it is still moving very very slowly; it "turns on a dime" but lingers for days on that dime. The Quick or Bright Hermetic Epoch will begin on April 16. Until then some of the things we experience during the Mercury Retrograde period are still with us. I know we are impatient, but I have to say this based on decades of observation. 

Those who miss their way in life, but recover, have an internal resilience which helps them teach or guide others. 

People are proud of themselves and of their appearance. This is not always vanity, or it can be a constructive vanity which in trying to please others gains poise, control and confidence. Then there can be a sort of aloofness: "I look good and feel good, so I don't have to trouble myself about anyone."

Enthusiasm is good, connected with goals and hopes, one's career or a project. If one is trying to carry that out, one does not have to resort to artificial intoxicants in liquid, powder or smoke.

Self-assurance and courage are good things to carry one through difficult periods. It helps to realize that others have those qualities too, making one a little more humble.

Your home or a place of seclusion and security are highlighted. You have your own particular fortress to which to retire and be yourself. Still, you have to deal with intrusions. There are convergences in the human scheme of things, "Heavy traffic on a narrow isthmus," which make you find a balance between your self-surety and the requirements, and comings and goings, of those around you. They cannot intrude into your consciousness disruptively if you rely on your internal, eternal security.

\Certainties Promoting Moderation Plus Conviviality/

At the worse levels, one might feel a lack of energy and just want to indulge oneself through overeating or in other ways. We need to remind ourselves that there are things worth accomplishing. 

One is capable of doing things which seem playful yet are contributing co-operatively to the good of others as well as oneself. "Two cobblers working at a table." (Well, with Venus now in Pisces, maybe getting new shoes or repairing old ones? But it's a symbol, not necessarily literal.)

Sepharial warns against excess, either of liquor (or pot) or purely mental intoxicants. At the worst this could result in stirring up quarrels through impetuous impulses which seem harmless to oneself but not to others.

The certainties one feels aid one's survival. That which is lasting, by tradition or personal choice, aids oneself to last out. It is internal  support which can help one avoid overindulgence in mere sensual pleasures to one's detriment. 

Yet some pleasant aspects foster appropriate high living, generosity and conviviality.

We see people chasing their tails like puppies during the Mercury Retrograde periods. Until they decide to give up. Those who insist on Trump's collusion with Russia are still chasing that tail; and now Trump himself, by declaring war on them, is going to chase his own. These are perfect examples of how one can get "stuck in the past" during MR. The past is valuable at these times if one makes use of it wisely, but not if one gets "stuck" in chasing one's tail. Guys, get smart about these Mercury cycles so you don't make fools of yourselves. It's possible to do intelligent things if one is slower and more thoughtful than usual.

Wednesday:  One can chase what one wants to chase, but in a conservative mode, trusting more in what has been established than in major reform.

Those older or more mature still have strong romantic inclinations. They can be persuaded, and they can persuade. 

Mental intoxication can be as thrilling as that based on a substance. One wants one's work to be allied with what is as stimulating as a sporting event.

One can avoid dangers by being cunning and diplomatic, like "A fox running beneath the shadow of a wall."

This same spirit of caution is represented by "A squirrel hiding from hunters." One does not have to get involved in what would waste time and energy. One is not indifferent to things but chooses to wait for clear, definite opportunities. Meanwhile one may appear careless or calm and placid.

Seeking, and seeking, and not finding, has its own charm. The sights and sounds on the way, and the insights they provoke,  are interesting in themselves. 

It should be easy to persuade anyone of anything! Well, an exaggeration, but a helpful one, because it might be good to be less timid and take the initiative in combining forces with someone. If there is a large age difference, that just means that lost youth is recovered.

What is imponderable, or difficult to weigh, could lead to success nevertheless. One senses that there could be a favorable outcome of a long-drawn-out experimental research process.

People are touchy about issues of supervision, whether you are the supervisor or the supervised. "Super" means "superior," yet not really, just that one has a different role in a hierarchy intended to get things done. It is good to make "underlings" feel appreciated.

Commerce is beneficial, whether selling or buying. It is possible to bring people together for their mutual benefit, persuading them to unify their forces for the common good.

Merry Retro!

It just seems that this Mercury retrograde period, lasting until the 28th (but the allied and very similar Slow Hermetic Epoch lasts till April 16) is classic. The devastating floods in much of middle North America are part of it. Mercury is conjoined with Neptune exactly and they are square Jupiter. That is too much of something. Jupiter is excess and Neptune in its own sign is water. Floods. Not everyone is experiencing that of course. Some may be drinking too much alcohol. 

MR is often restlessness. I have been in public places recently where there was constant and irritating motion, noise, people seeming not to know where they are going or what they are doing. Up and down. To the bathroom and back. On public transportation, the same, and on the street. Chaotic motion. This always happens more often during MR.

Then the Mueller investigation and report. Just a headache. Everyone's mind and memory going backward. A nice note: I saw a photo of Mueller and his wife going to church Sunday just after his report was released. That is a superb use of this period, leaning on a solid tradition for emotional and spiritual support.

Did you read about the horribly difficult rescue operation for 1300 passengers near Norway?   If that is not Mercury retrogarde, while it is conjoined with Neptune ruling the ocean, what would be?!! What an experience. Fortunately for most of us it is not that painful. Give thanks to Him (or Her) for that!

Quietude and peacefulness are important. They can be a cure for too much worry or hurry. 

It is good to be detached, even uncaring about money, gain or prestige. The simple life has its advantages, "A Native American woman selling beads."

Contrary to that is another tendency which is strong but probably held back because circumstances may not allow it. That is a desire to be on the move, travel, and gain through something pretty speculative. This would require more disruption than you can handle at present but might be worth considering for later on.

This adventurous streak seems to be something you can't shake, or shouldn't, because it is somehow destined to come true one way or another, maybe mostly in your mind at present. According to Sepharial, there is "uncertainty, peril, and final success." You "climb a rock in a storm" and getting to the top is more a matter of perseverance than luck. When you reach the top you have security.

Sensing lack means being frugal. Yet what is needed is there. The butterfly emerging from its chrysalis has nothing to be ashamed of even though it seems lame and can't fly. The preliminary crawling around (Mercury retrograde) is prelude to something glorious.

P. S. The New York Times has taken to publishing articles or opinion pieces every time Mercury is retrograde making fun of the people who believe it means anything. Science reigns! Mercury never goes backward! (Of course not and no astrologer has ever claimed that; it appears to go backward from geocentric perspective.) Astrologers are total idiots! But then today I read, in the latest column of Maureen Dowd: " I got a call at 3 p.m. on Friday from the Washington electric company telling me that a manhole in front of my house was smoking, that the underground cable to my house had burned up because it was old and that all the power in my house was out." Of course she does not connect this with Mercury retrograde. Just a coincidence! Also, a day or two after the latest NYT debunking of astrology, Facebook was down over large parts of the country for the larger part of two days! Of course that also, according to the received scientific wisdom, was just a coincidence. "Coincidence" appears to be the religion of astrology-haters. 

Did Mercury "cause" Maureen Dowd's house to go powerless, or the cable to burn up? That would be rather silly. The cause of the burning was already there, waiting to happen. Mercury retrograde tends to bring out old issues that need to be REsolved. You could say it is "ripe karma" often. Your car breaks down? Don't blame Mercury; you did not get it tuned up or REpaired at the right time. A kind reader reported here today that a company where she works discovered a horrible error in billing a lot of customers during the MR period. But it had happened before that, and was just discovered then, so that it could be corREcted. The RE words are what goes on, in spades, when Mercury is retrograde (and to a lesser degree afterward until April 16 while Mercury is still slow). We can't blame Mercury or the solar system for the stuff that comes back to us then. "What goes around comes around," and when Mercury chooses to go backward, a lot of stuff indeed "comes around"! But good stuff happens also; see what I wrote about that in Sunday's report.

There can be wonderful good luck, no matter how adventitious or unreliable it might seem. You admire yourself thoroughly. 

Poetry in living comes forth within restored or constant human relations, "A Spaniard serenading his senorita." 

As a kid I loved "going to the woods" in springtime. I hope that can still be done in some places. There is plenty of natural beauty in pristine condition if one can drift toward it. 

Sepharial warns against dice and card-playing, gambling, as if they might take one away from one's true destiny. Perhaps, or they might just be a momentary pleasure. True, there could be important immediate work to finish even on a Sunday, as necessary, and that would clear the path for other enjoyments.

Creative alertness results in good fortune. Life provides bounty for us if we accept it as it comes, without complaining that it is not something else.

P. S. I am trying so hard to connect you with an awareness of what Mercury being retrograde can mean to you. I am asking you to forget all the dismissive comments by wits in the media, who truly reveal only their own wilful ignorance. Reflect on how your life has been going for the past month or since about February 18. It's not a matter of good or bad but of mode. You must have noticed how things happen often differently from expectation. One day this week a friend asked me to do something way out of pattern for me. But I had already accomplished most of my daily schedule so I went along with it. His plans did not work out as he had hoped yet we had a good time. I felt displaced and a little lost and my phone was running down. But then a total stranger became friendly, shared food and drink with me, and we had a happy hour or more together. All this was unplanned. Today I misjudged when a store was opening and had to sit in an unopened patio to wait. I meditated, repeated a name of God, and felt a very strong telepathic link with someone I rarely think about. This was a wonderful result of the 20 minute wait I had originally felt as very annoying. Now I feel it was planned by a higher power. I am trying to help you get this sort of insight into the flow of life and consciousness during this period. (MR lasts another week, then the similar DHE until April 16.)

Some complex study you find important may seem to yield little or no benefit to you and yet compels your attention.

Any loss or interference with a project or plan could seem daunting, but one will "get over it" eventually.

You may feel like displaying your powers and skills unashamedly, glorying in them. There is nothing wrong with this provided you use care so that you do not put yourself in a position where you could fall. Someone or something might seem to pull you down from a pedestal.

Measuring things, and times, is important to prevent avoidable problems. You should be as efficient as possible so that when you have finished tasks you can enjoy yourself without worry.

}Internal Before External Victory{

We have to discuss the Mercury retrograde phenomenon again, like it or not, because it is so important. It lasts until March 28, another week, though the accompanying (similar but less intense) Dark (Slow) Hermetic Epoch will last until April 16. 

You are familiar with the negative side of it, which is popularly discussed (and dismissed and made fun of). 

Now for some of the neutral or positive sides of this period.

It has a lot to do with Time. With our perceptions of the past and future and our orientation within Time. We can be transported easily back into some segment or facet of the past, in dreams or waking dreams or memories. We can imagine all kinds of future possibilities and get somewhat lost in them to the detriment of present duties. However, the positive part of this is that we may get genuine insights into our lives which are unavailable in the more prosaic Bright or Quick Hermetic Epochs. This is almost supernatural, often.

Those involved in astrology or psychic gropings or supernormal phenomena of any kind (including sometimes UFOs) often become very agitated or excited or inspired during these times. Wow, this stuff is real! Yes it is, and yet with Mercury the trickster we sometimes wonder how real it is or if its reality is other than we imagine it to be. 

Just some clues. I cannot solve all that for you but merely hope that pointing out the above will help you traverse the period more comfortably and successfully. It seems to me that we need to (A) not forsake all these unusual or supernormal insights and ideas but also (B) not get too lost in all of them because our immediate duties in "the world" also require attention. 

Thursday:  The sun is in Aries the "first" sign and you may feel you want to be "first" in something. Maybe you can be. There is some danger of getting ahead of yourself or annoying people by your competitive attitude. (You may see this in others also, or more than in yourself.)

One cannot have control or influence over others without controlling oneself. This is obvious and yet we sometimes forget all that it implies. It helps to realize that we are not going to just substitute our own skill for that of those who oppose us, but can also assimilate some of their skill, or learn something from them, making our "victory" more thoroughly victorious.

Abortive projects and unfortunate relationships can be a problem. There may need to be clearance. You do not reject anyone's heart or soul, but spend less time with her or him for a period in order to focus on what is real in your own life and consciousness. (This could have something to do with Venus square Mars, intense over the past few days and continuing to some degree till the second week of April.)

There could be something to be said for being passionate, even a little quarrelsome or arrogant, as for example the presidential candidates are, for one has to hew out one's own path sometimes without bowing or curtsying to everyone else. 

That said, there is danger of becoming fiercely frenzied or vindictive. We need to remember the social culturing and training we have experienced all our lives, and remember also that someone else might forget that during a moment of anger and slip into semi-violence in word or act. Our differences are what make us despise one another, but also what make us appreciate and love one another--paradoxically. By sensing and expressing what is unique in yourself, you do not have to be conceited, nor suffer others' conceit painfully, but can dismiss all that jostling for supremacy while being busy manifesting your special qualities.

We have the vernal equinox and a Full Moon within a few hours of each other. This indicates fantastic potentials brewing. 

There is plenty of energy and not a little self-will, with the Venus-Mars square exact. Battles or contests may be evident around you whether you partake of them or not.

There is a desire to command others, to have indomitable personal authority.

Whatever remains unstable, or not yet settled in your life, keeps you in mental or physical motion.

One feels one's capacities are good enough to give one a command post. This might be seen as egoism by some whether it is or not.

Aptitudes and excellencies in people around you are good signals to you that you can rise to their level. Appreciating their skills helps you to expand yours. Then you are industrious in pursuing what strikes you as most significant right now.

\Playful Yet Practical Consciousness/

The Full Moon coming up Wednesday is already here in terms of expanded consciousness and insight. We tend to get "global" in our perceptions when the moon is fat! We see links among things more clearly, which can be exhilarating. Some of that could be practical as well as spiritual because of a grand trine forming with the moon in earth signs. 

You have a good sense of timing. It is wise to keep to the agenda and schedule one has set for oneself. 

At the same time you are good at preserving what is most valuable. "A jewelry shop" suggests solid and dramatic use of or display of one's powers and abilities, going along with the exact trine of Mars with Pluto in earth signs. 

Trading, buying or selling may go well, with a lot of variety and changeableness in procedure. 

Discouragement can lead to isolation. True, it is good to rely on oneself for setting the sails and heading in the best direction, rather than heeding others' opinions, but without bitterness or misanthropy. 

Being strong and forceful is not the same as being ferocious! I feel like pointing this out to Beto O'Rourke because I have been watching videos of his campaign in Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan over the past five days and it seems he is overly aggressive or assertive with his almost-screaming and his wild hand gestures. What he says is generally quite good (I don't agree with all of it) but his manner seems to be a Venus-square-Mars manner which can be disturbing to the very people one is trying to convince. 

The last symbol, "A rug placed on the floor for children to play," suggests something alive and fascinating about the current time. A lady I heard in person yesterday who has had Near-Death experiences and learned much from them said that G*d gives us all these things to play a game with them and then we forget it is a game and make things too serious and horrible for ourselves. I liked what she said and felt it was a message for me. She and G*d (she had been an atheist before her NDE) were putting that tolerant rug down for all of us to play on!

^Rising Beyond Doubt and Weakness^

We may slack off at a time like this. We might assume something to be true or valuable which is not, and waste time and energy on it. 

Rather, it is possible to seek guidance, or find it within oneself: "White dove over troubled waters." Then one's actions, no matter how tentative, would have the flavor of authenticity. 

How the Venus square Mars aspect, almost exact, is playing out in your life (it has been with us already for two weeks) depends on yourself, but also on those closest to you. There could be irritation, anger, and separation, which is normal for this aspect. Or, at best, one could turn that into a somewhat strained yet exalting encompassment of differences which brings about a certain sort of harmony no matter how precipitous.

Doing things at home, organizing possessions there, could be fortunate, "A bluebird standing at the door of the house."

Any disappointments can be taken as a clearance of unnecessary attachments so that truer and better aims can take their place. Then one will not slip into weakness or apathy.

At best, there are remarkable possibilities of healing, or finding a better health-path. We crave physical immortality to manifest the truth of Spirit.
