*Masked and Unmasked*
Much as I would like to tout a thrilling Halloween celebration--I bought a costume last year I have never worn--I don't see huge justification in the daily chart for that, except that we are approaching a Full Moon (exact Monday) and Venus's trine with Neptune suggests colorful artistic costuming. The |sensitive, painful, difficult| third of the week ends at 6:51p PT | 9:51p ET | 1:51a(Su) UT, so by then the holiday spirit may improve (Prime Time). Even before that the moon's sextile with Jupiter should be uplifting.
At a more mundane level, you care about finances and career, making headway in articulating what you want to complete in those areas. A practical instinct (as Mercury approaches the sun in the Bright Epoch, both square Mars) means you are willing to face what before you had swept under the carpet, and straighten things out manfully or womanfully. If you feel orphaned, you become your own parent.
The Sabian Symbol for Jupiter's position, "a man unmasked," is interesting in connection with the holiday. Maybe you will decline to wear a mask, or costume; or will see that others' masks are as revealing as their faces.
You handle details well and can build them up into something impressive. Then you rush to exploit whatever can be exploited: friendship, knowledge, competence.
The sensuous side of Halloween, drawing attention to the body, is evident, and need not be alarming unless in bad taste. With Venus in Libra, it could be an opporutunity to cultivate the human approach to supernatural beauty.
The ardor of some may take form in political protest or demonstration, or other expressions of opinion in a harsh or attention-grabbing manner.
It is well not to be careless (putting your wallet in the false pocket of a costume) but well to inculcate a spirit of camaraderie. Sometimes people express their care for one another spontaneously when in unusual situations or apparel.
If you opt for a less gotten-up holiday, you may enjoy it vicariously. Costumed or not we may get to the deeper level of spiritual communion with ancestors which is what All Hallows is about.

Many are pondering their deeper philosophies or ways or relating to God, the world and humanity. I have recently been pondering what I have read about certain existentialist philosophers, who insist that we each are responsible for our own lives and choices. Most of them would resist if not combat astrology. I assure you that there is no conflict between astrology and the better forms of existentialism, such as those of Kierkegaard, Mounier and Jaspers. The conflict is in appearance only. It is so evident that people reflect and act out their horoscopes that there is no doubt about it to anyone who has studied the matter, observing his friends and relatives through their horoscopes. It is indubitable. So philosophers are going to have to deal with that. Astrology does not show that people are merely their horoscopes, or puppets of the planets. It shows rather that the only way they can be free is to understand and work with their place in the universe, which is revealed by their horoscopes whether they realize this or not. The interaction between freedom (which is real) and our links with the world (often called determinism) is a perennial philosophic issue. Astrology helps to see how that interaction works out. We are still responsible for our personal decisions and choices; the stars are not. But they show where we begin, and what we have to cope with.
Sri Aurobindo expressed an existentialist viewpoint succinctly, although he certainly did not belong to that school of philosophy, in his epic poem Savitri (p. 434):
To choose his path among the many paths
Is given him, for each his difficult goal
Hewn out of infinite possibility.
But he was also an occultist, and in other sections of the poem points out how our lives are laid out along paths we have made for ourselves in past lifetimes. In my view, that is what the birth horoscope reveals. Past choices, not a cosmic dice-player, determined when we were born and therefore our horoscopes. Therefore, what we do in this life and how we employ our horoscopes determines how and when we shall be reborn, if that is indeed our destiny. Further, horoscopes are not as limiting as we think. If compared to instruments, although they look and sound very different, any instrument can play either cacophonous discord or a love-song or a hymn. Further, if we compare humanity to an orchestra, different kinds of instruments are needed. (But let's think of the orchestra as conducted by the Overmind or Supermind, in Sri Aurobindo's terms, not a limiting humanly composed score. Astrology could reveal all three of those, so flexible is it, and amenable to higher degrees of understanding, so that it becomes a different kind of astrology depending on the degree of comprehension of the astrologer.)
Articulating your way of relating to the world and people is becoming sharper and more definite, with Saturn now in Libra (the timing of this was laid out yesterday). What has been conflict, aggression or wounding can become tete-a-tete, that is, at best, mutual understanding (no matter how remote that goal).
Your link with nature and events can be inconsequential, or uplifting through rapport.
Loneliness is a natural condition at times, deriving from our suspicion of one another perhaps, yet we do need our own space in order to recover from social stress.
Mercury's (and the sun's) square with Mars can be wantonness, that is, anger and destruction when no reconciliation between divergent impulses, desires or attitudes seems possible. But when you get beyond that level of conflict you find relieving stabilization.
Cultivating more refined sensibilities is possible, when the laxly sensuous is recognized and sublimated.

Today and tomorrow are the |difficult| third of the week, which drags on through Halloween until the evening of that day, when things might brighten, from the scowl of the ghoul to the grin of the pumpkin.
I hope you are not nonplussed by Mars's square with the sun, exact yesterday and today. On Wednesday it was "interference" to sum it up in one word, as it appeared in my life, with impatience and struggle yet finally a good result. We can get things done, and settled, in this Bright Epoch (until December 9), but this particular square, with Mercury now joining it over the next several days, can be--well, just what I said, impatient and struggling. As long as it is healthy impatience for something good, and a struggle toward the best, it can be productive and satisfying. It has a somewhat military or competitive color, bringing out machismo and determination.
Saturn enters Libra today! I say this in exclamation because Saturn's passage through Virgo since September 2007 has been difficult for many. It has a fascinating link with this nation's struggle toward universal health care, or reform of the almost insane medical system in the U. S., which has not gone well. It is not finished, for Saturn returns to Virgo from April to July, thence to leave it for 26 years. Perhaps it is by then that we will see some semblance of agreement on a health plan. Meanwhile Saturn's presence in Libra, the sign of its exaltation, from now until April 7, will give us a foretaste of the next three years (until October 2012 when it enters Scorpio). The ancients were very smart to see that it is exalted in Libra, that is, attains its highest and most spiritual expression there. We shall see what that means and discuss it as we go along. Watch and see if relationships improve for you, beginning today. They shall be stabilized by reason, prudence, fairness and balance. (This may be more apparent by Halloween evening when we will be out of the |difficult| third of the week.)
If a quarrelsome trend seems evident, this is not because of Saturn in Libra but despite it. It is a kind of rough turn toward justice, and need not be threatening. It helps you articulate where you stand and what is important to you. Choosing your battles is your prerogative. Getting involved in pointless ones is a mistake.
It is interesting that gold prices have fallen drastically while the sun, ruling gold, in Scorpio, the sign of death, is square Mars in Leo the sun's sign and the sign of gold. However, this downturn cannot last, and today may be the beginning of gold's recovery--or not, but you should get some good financial news in one form or another.
Involvement in study or research can save you from brooding or worry.
Distrust is part of the human condition so long as we do not feel deeply that we are all one. However, there are indications that that is lessening, and what a relief that can be.
Life takes on a more peaceful and blessed aspect when you let yourself ponder the unreality of all that distresses. Reality is that which blesses and upholds eternally. When you care less about trivia, you feel like aiding others in their own trivia, because that is healthy and uplifting to both. I hope you are noticing what I point out as the forward motion of the Bright Hermetic Epoch (October 14 through December 8). It is not that we make no mistakes. You will do that, but you will correct them more quickly and easily. I have noted that in the past week. Problems which have plagued me for months are not suddenly dissipated, but my stumbling way of solving them is working more quickly and smoothly so that I see definite results and answers. I hope it is the same for you.
Today is Prime Time. The moon's trine with the sun in the afternoon could mean a great deal of what was just mentioned: answers which make you feel competent and on top of every situation. These come not without some work and struggle, but they feel convincingly right.
You can set up safeguards to protect you from confusion. What you have pondered heavily remains heavy but you get a clear go-ahead to move forward out of the mists and claim your decision.
Small things in your field of work are being settled, moved, and placed, so that they do not seem so troubling. You see that the continuity of your efforts in your headquarters is yielding respect for yourself from yourself and then others.
Whether your finances have increased or decreased in the past couple of weeks, you seem to know what your ambitions are and how to satisfy them, and probably your investment and income plans have stabilized convincingly.
It is possible to be skeptical about people yet friendly and cooperative. You see their limits and weaknesses but can still relate to them when that is desirable. There is no need to be offensive or cutting while you climb to the top of your current situation. Friendliness in the work-place, as well as when enjoying entertainment, can facilitate success.

The cold weather, if you are having it in your area, need not dampen your use of Prime Time. Saturday and Sunday were not thrilling days for me but I got more done than usual and felt I had accomplished something. In the Bright Hermetic Epoch (until December 9) you will be able to find solutions. If you think over the past week you may note solutions you have found already. Problems are more amenable to intelligent solution. This week, that is specially true today, tomorrow and perhaps Wednesday (all days of Prime Time. It was questionable for me to leave out Wednesday when I pointed out four days of Prime Time in a row. Actually there are five, but Wednesday looks perhaps less promising than Monday and Tuesday).
The cold weather (and snow in my area) of course goes with the season but could also be related to Saturn's increasing square with Pluto in Saturn's sign Capricorn. (This most certainly does not mean global warming has come to an end.)
Safeguards, in your home and finances, are important to keep you from slipping up by ignoring what needs to be heeded.
Art, drama and music are influences helpful even in your job because they keep your mind on a level where it can enjoy daily tasks more freely. Inspiration comes when you keep your thoughts and hopes on a high level. Naive optimism at a time like this is better than stultifying pessimism.
You are finding your own ways of lifting yourself out of isolation and anti-social tendencies. When you look into hidden factors behind the surface, or use philosophy and religion to behold deeper realities, you can flow with humanity more smoothly rather than shrink from what you see.

We have Prime Time, and a slew of lunar aspects, several of which are excellent, including a trine with Venus plus sextile with Mars increasing through the day into the evening. I have been careful not to emphasize the current sextile between Mars and Venus because other factors, such as their both being in signs not favorable to them, plus Venus's increasing conjunction with Saturn, suggest that this "romantic interlude" will be rather sober or low-key. Still, today you may see what it means. Some kind of love is lurking.
As for practical and business matters, they could go well indeed. It's a week before we enter the Bright Hermetic Epoch, but today you may see more clearly than ever, in the past two months, where you are going and how to consolidate plans. Alongside the romantic potentials just pointed out, Mercury conjoined to Saturn grant sobriety and concentration.

My Google mail is not working today, for whatever mysterious techno-geek reason (hey guys I guess you took the weekend off), so I am posting directly from the Group site, which means there is a different look. I wanted to make the type larger than this but the next higher font is much too large. Yahoo, you guys are awfully incompetent, or is it careless, sometimes. But when we use a free service we are at their mercy.
We have Prime Time only after the moon enters Taurus at 9:34a PT | 12:34p ET | 4:34p UT. So the morning could be more Monday-morning-ish than usual.
Nevertheless, I think most will be fairly happy about the way business is shaping up, albeit slowly. We might even see a renewed campaign toward medical-care reform in Congress or by the Administration. This might be easier now that Mercury is gaining speed every day (though not out of the Dark until October 14).
A yod with Mars, Mercury, Saturn and Neptune, focused on the last, suggests a heightened sense of responsibility. You want to do the right thing and are willing to keep pushing, making whatever sacrifices necessary, not even feeling them as sacrifices when they are just part of the process.

The stock market did not disappoint us by not "falling" in the month of the sun's "fall" (Libra), as of this writing by a significant amount on Thursday and I doubt there will be a recovery on Friday, although there may be next week. "May be" is about the best I can do because as mentioned before there are too many variables to make reliable predictions of the market.
About what are you "antsy" or worried? What is your favorite radical solution of all problems for yourself? Let's hope it's not an addiction or anything dangerous. You might try to see what that is all about especially during the hours 11a-11p PT | 2p-2a(Sa) ET | 6p-6a(Sa) UT. This is the center of the moon's conjunction with Uranus and opposition with Saturn. It could throw you, but need not if you bring wisdom and spiritual consciousness to bear on all that concerns you. Positively, it could be a breakthrough of insight, although difficult for any relationship. You might feel like staring into someone's eyes intently ans asking "What is the problem between us?" This astrological setup will not end after those hours but may be easier to handle. Being alone at such times is not a mistake, unless you feel that you definitely need to confront someone about something.
