Saturday 11th: • Strangers' Reticence • Strange! Some of the symbols for today point out that many are "strangers to the public and not very popular." Need I mention names? They and others may be victims of "a baneful comet with a long tail pointing toward the earth." Some notorious persons become "the scourge of nations." Others, more fortunate, sit in dark rooms surrounded by books, papers and mathematical instruments, capable of great achievements, but not benefiting themselves by their studies. Others are real or would-be revolutionists or agitators. "A red flag floats at the top of a high staff." Two fortunate cows do not notice a tiger ready to spring. Who are the cows and who the tigers in the ongoing negotiations in Pakistan? Let's pray for J. D. Vance. Is alcohol always a weakness? No, but "two men talk together with faces averted from a third with a tankard in his hand, ready to drink." Low habits and associations result from Weakness. Fortunate are you if you can throw your head back and laugh at the victims of these symbols! But pleasure at others' misery (Schadenfreude) is definitely sinful! Nevertheless, "a comedian entertaining a group" grants us needed Release. More genteel is "a woman in pastel colors carrying a heavy and valuable but veiled load."
