Many feel mentally isolated, not in sympathy with the present state of things. Some are looking through the wrong end of their perceptual telescope, feeling that no one is as great as themselves.

The catharsis of nature comes in "an electrical storm." The universal forces spell out Transformation. Most will recover fully. Some may feel almost suicidally that their hopes are gone

A man climbing a pole has ambitions in the clouds which may be mere Vagaries. But "A man teaching new forms for old symbols" is onto something real. The keyword is Interpretation. Some may be actual Seers possessing a globe reflecting the whole panorama of the earth.

We conclude with the beautiful symbol of "a very straight road, an interminable perspective" indicating a life that will be long and happy.

Saturday 18th: • Above the Earth? • We start with the "cheerless" symbols of the day, such as "the earth covered with a deep snow" suggesting an uneventful life lacking the native energy required for success. Then there is "a bed of a dried-up river wherein crows are feeding." One may have given much to unthankful people who offer nothing in return. Still, we remain in the month of Aries and "two men are engaged in a fight." Many are pugnacious. It would be better to put that energy into simple, persistent, honest effort, like "a man of humble appearance but much strength felling a tree with an axe." Springtide is described thus: "I see green everywhere, and everything is on the move." Many changes seem to head nowhere; yet someone is wearing "a large hat with streamers flying, facing east." On Wednesday it was exact in late afternoon and early evening, and where I live there was an enormous thunderstorm with lightning and then hailstones! There was also a failure of the heating system in my building for a few hours; Saturn is the planet of coldness. Things are calmer on Thursday, and by Friday the Difficult Third will be gone. Still, there are other issues . . .) Friday: We may have to pass through a dark, sad, gloomy phase during which everything seems pointless. "A king sits on a throne; behind him stands a figure veiled in black." The keyword, Collapse, suggests a fall if one undertakes feats beyond one's natural powers, especially if they are morally questionable. "A large disappointed audience" suggests that one cannot always expect applause from the momentary mood of the masses. The keyword is Disjunction. His dignity and influence fail for lack of judgment or persistence. Families may break up or lose their traditions. The keyword is Decadence. • Equipped for Discovery • Be prepared to know that "darkness, sadness and gloom" are only temporary. "A crow or raven standing on a waterpot" may be up to mischief because of envy, but would suffer as a result. Instead, one could use mental curiosity to make a Discovery, causing a new idea to dawn on the world. Some will rise from a low estate to Eminence, like a flag on a staff at the top of a high mountain. Then they would resemble "a triangle with wings," inviolable in their light-bringing Zeal. The remaining symbols can be curatives for such malevolence and unrest. A person enjoying good luck covers himself with decorations and ornaments in a garden abounding with flowers and fountains. He or she is vain as a peacock. A man plays with colored balls, an immodest woman standing behind him. They need to develop force of character and worthy ambition. Maybe they should be more like "an old-fashioned clock" following a mechanical system of "rules to the letter," not inventive, but particular in details. Saturday 11th: • Strangers' Reticence • Strange! Some of the symbols for today point out that many are "strangers to the public and not very popular." Need I mention names? They and others may be victims of "a baneful comet with a long tail pointing toward the earth." Some notorious persons become "the scourge of nations." Others, more fortunate, sit in dark rooms surrounded by books, papers and mathematical instruments, capable of great achievements, but not benefiting themselves by their studies. Others are real or would-be revolutionists or agitators. "A red flag floats at the top of a high staff." Two fortunate cows do not notice a tiger ready to spring. Who are the cows and who the tigers in the ongoing negotiations in Pakistan? Let's pray for J. D. Vance. Is alcohol always a weakness? No, but "two men talk together with faces averted from a third with a tankard in his hand, ready to drink." Low habits and associations result from Weakness. It might be good to spend some time in solitary prayer. "Thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." As a recluse, one could possess hidden knowledge. "A woman rises out of water; a seal rises and embraces her." I leave the interpretation to you. The keyword is Realization. Yet we sometimes see a day's ominous symbols working out, such as this one today: "An anchor unattached to any vessel's chain, the cable broken." If we feel thus lost, we can refind our way through faith in the unfailing anchor, Christ Jesus. Likewise, if thoughts of death are disturbing, we can read and recall Jesus's promises concerning immortality. "A man plowing in the midst of a boundless plain" is ambitious to be first in everything, jealous of rivals, individual and original. If more mature, he might be a philanthropist, reformer or healer, possessed of mysterious magnetic powers. Craving for things unattainable could be arrant selfishness, like a dog chasing another for a bone. On the other hand, "a prizefighter entering the ring" is establishing his career confidently through Exertion. "A woman rises out of water, a seal rises and embraces her" is the mysterious Sabian symbol for Mars's position at 0 Aries. Unconditioned potentiality can be grasped through Realization. A new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins today (through June 12th) and plans begin to work out more smoothly. Being particular in matters of detail, carrying on with exact habits, following an almost mechanical system like "an old-fashioned clock." One might begin by reading the Bible, guided out of every difficulty by walking in darkness with an old-fashioned lantern, faithful to truths taught by one's forefathers. Fear of loss makes some over-thrifty or miserly. Or one could be wisely acquisitive for good purposes. Acquiring wealth and fame shrewdly is watchful self-service. "A man is seated on a throne, holding a scepter, crowned, with signs of wealth around him." "A prism" indicates judgment of unusual accuracy enabling exceptional accomplishment. The keyword is Validation. "The magic carpet" carries us into freedom of spirit and soul through a widely winging interest in potentialities far removed from our normal promise. As for feelings of gloom, they should be temporary , . . Unless someone gets caught up into a battlefield of deadly conflict. Still, a military career could be successful if that person heeds "an angel blowing a trumpet," pointing out, as a preacher, the correct and safe ethical path. How does it feel to be in the crew of Artemis II on the dark side of the moon? "An empty hammock" suggests "inner reorientation and outer readjustment," with the keyword Rumination. On the earth, "a portly man walks among pigeons flocking upon the ground at his feet." He is attractive to young persons. He inspires confidence and faith in others. • The Dance Goes On • Different theologians have different notions as to what Jesus's experiences may have been on the Saturday between the crucifixion and the resurrection. This year one symbol for the day is "a man being tortured" and we may well pray for all those persecuted or ill-treated around the world. That includes many Christians. Few are their defenders, though some strategists are "mounted on the top of a hill with sword in hand as if on the lookout." The world's work continues even on most holy days. Charubel says that agriculturists are profiting by their labors. Other individuals are "possessed with strange influences" such as familiars or spirit companions, whether demonic or saintly or angelic. Some have comfort and happiness without labor, as if "well favored cows grazing in a park in the shade of trees." Perhaps this is the glade in which "a youth, book in hand, wanders, while sunlight slants through the trees and falls upon the figure of the student." There is peaceful contemplation and Passive Beauty. The cosmic-human dance goes on, and "Brownies are dancing in the setting sun" to the music of Invigoration. There are moments of life's culmination, as depicted by "a harvest moon." This is "self-consummation successful beyond any possibility of measure." The keyword is Benediction. We can pray to be in humble touch with the Supreme and His guardian angels, to protect us from any human treachery. A dark curtain like a pall, what Sri Aurobindo called the Inconscient, can be minimized or lifted through persistent aspiration. Are there two special individuals who guide your hopes? "Two horses" are used to "plow" or prepare consciousness for precious seed flowering in a higher manifestation. Then, to announce this to the world, a red flag is hoisted to the top of a staff. (Iran, for example, needs wise revolutionaries.) "An Indian weaving a blanket" has learned the value of Diligence for others and himself. Each tiny act builds toward a useful result. "A new moon divides its influences" in order to protect and test their effect in each case, with Finesse. "A man stands on a dais, in his hand a scroll, on his head a laurel wreath." His mind-wealth, expressed, acquires honors, dignity and favor. If he stands upright within a large elliptical figure on the ground, that shows his passionate love for the beautiful in art, nature, and human beings.
