^Finding the Groove^

Moon in Aries
|Karmically decisive third| of this week continues
until it ends at 8:02p PT | 11:02p ET | 4:02a(Tu) UT

A large telescope pointing heavenwards.  A scientist or one gifted with clairvoyance. Perhaps a lover of sidereal studies.  c

The ground hog looking for its shadow.  Reassurance.  s

A man sowing in the wind.  Dissipation.  b

A chest floating on an open sea.  Placid and calm, perhaps careless. Sacrifices much for comfort and peace of mind. But when opposed, capable of irresistible force. Indifference.  b

A very long ladder, such as is used by fire brigades.  Ambition.  Lofty inspirations.  Indulging mentally or actually in grand speculations. A scholar who may do much towards the elevation and salvation of mankind.  c

A truncated cone.  Will rise to good position. Danger of cessation of fortune followed by vexations.  Should aim higher than meaning to hit, or remain contented.  Curtailment.  b

A very large disk consisting of circles of light with dark grey interspaces.  These circles resemble wheels within wheels, which I find on closer examination to be spiral, all revolving.  This symbol contains far more than I am able to express in words.  He may seek to do as others do, but it will not answer.  He is inclined to give up in despair, but just at that critical moment an inspiration fires his inner self, a new light develops, he gets out of those dark interspaces where he may have been floundering for years, on to the circle of evolving light.  Henceforth he is on his groove and is carried onward and upward.  c

I do not attempt to predict daily stock market fluctuations, but must say that today looks like a prosperous day in some ways, or a day when your finances could be worked out in some helpful manner. You know what brings you security.

The symbols are very powerful for me, for four of them happen to coincide with important points in my own horoscope, the moon and the ascendant.  It is usually better for an astrologer to refrain from commenting upon his own horoscope.

However, I got myself into this . . . The final two symbols apply to me almost exactly. I "rose to a good position" in the academic world but dropped out of college, and then later out of graduate school, although winning scholarships and fellowships.  I felt I had to do it for the sake of astrology, which was my huge interest but not compatible with an academic career (the "truncated cone") when the celestial science is universally regarded in the "academy" as a stupid superstition.  So I threw myself away from the academy's "dark interspaces" onto that "circle of evolving light" and although, as Charubel says, I may have fallen off, temporarily, I keep clambering back on. Voila! I had to try to be Cosmic Piper.

Today you may need reassurance (ground hog) that you are on the right path, but you can find that relatively easily (first paragraph above). You see where it would be foolish to "sow your seed," and so you turn to better things.

A secret of contentment is presented in the "chest floating on an open sea," the secret not of Indifference (which is how someone translated Signor Borelli's Italian keyword, not known to me) but of Detachment, or Vairagya in Sanskrit. As the Bhagavad Gita puts it, do your work well, offering it to G*d, and worry not over the exact result, leaving it to Him and Her.

There is much aspiration in the symbols, correlative to the moon's position in Aries, called by Dr. Jones the sign of Aspiration. Also, we have four planets in Pisces (a stellium), sign of Sympathy or of universal comprehension and understanding (the sign of the feet and of our spiritual foundations).

The symbols and their interpretation are intended to apply basically during the hours from dawn to midnight. Often a planet will move from one degree to another during the day, so I use a time near mid-afternoon for all of them, so that they shall be exactly right during most, often all, of the daylight hours. The period from midnight to dawn could partake of the nature of either day or both.

Moon in Pisces-->Aries
/moon is void-of-course
until it enters Aries at 4:06a PT | 7:06a ET | 12:06p UT
|Karmically decisive third| of this week continues (until Monday evening)

An aviator in the clouds.  Observation.  s

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.  Dissipation.  b

The ground hog looking for its shadow.  Reassurance.  s

A large telescope pointing heavenwards.  A scientist or one gifted with clairvoyance. Perhaps a lover of sidereal studies.  c

On a table of plain surface lie a number of chemical instruments: a retort, a pestle and mortar, a bent tube, a crucible, and more.  Chemistry. Analytical and acute mind resolving things into principles and perceiving causes. Wary of those not known to him.  Testing.  b

A hand holding a roll of paper or parchment.  Copyist, lawyer, or having to do with public documents.  c

A man and woman standing face to face, their hands clasped.  Genial, friendly, sociable.  Fidelity and devotion. (In business, bringing together contrary forces for utility.)  Union.  b

The |karmically serious third| of this week seems to be bringing us to a point of questioning, observing, and testing in a somewhat impersonal manner.  What use is the aviator in the clouds? Well, he is observing. Will that amount to anything more than "sowing in the wind"? Maybe the groundhog will find out by looking for his shadow on the ground and reassuring us that we know a tiny bit about our future.

Then the man with the telescope, who is also clairvoyant, takes things to another level of discovery, seeing beyond what either the groundhog or the aviator can perceive.

The chemist brings us back to earth. He uses material instruments to find out the principles and causes of material factors and is suspicious of anything not thoroughly known, so he might sneer at the groundhog, aviator and clairvoyant. He tests and tests until he is sure.  The moon in Aries today, square Saturn in Capricorn (two cardinal signs), wants definition and certainty.

Certainties may be put on paper, as the copyist or lawyer knows, so that they can be used by the public for assurance and verification.

That might include a marriage license, in view of the final symbol, which is wonderful. However, Venus remains in a square with Mars until the second week of March so marriage is in general less than felicitous, or has its problems, or could be mixed up in "another" relationship which suggests divorce or temporary separation. Or not! The groundhog might as well be picking petals off a daisy with "Loves me, love me not."  The chemist will be aseptically skeptical of his mate's innocent flirtations. Let us hope the parchment or public document is not a restraining order.

Kidding. This could be an okay day even though we are looking for a sort of assurance hard to come by whether studying a groundhog or a horoscope. As for the crucible, please don't test your lover in it. Somewhere, somehow, there is "fidelity and devotion."  That final beautiful symbol could trump the others for someone in, or almost in, a solid relationship.

Moon in Pisces
|Karmically decisive third| of this week begins at 11:55a PT | 2:55p ET | 7:55p UT (until Monday evening)
/moon goes void-of-course at 2:15p PT | 5:15p ET | 10:15p UT

A jockey.  Practice.  s

A sceptre surrounded by a crown.  Distinction; offices of power and influence.  Authority.  b

A man reclining on a rustic seat 'neath a shady tree; a ray of sunshine has fallen on him.  Will not have trouble; wealth flows to him. But he lives for himself and seldom benefits others.  c

A magician in his sacerdotal vestments, standing in a magic circle, performing some magic rites.  Fond of "Art magic" and ceremonial; perhaps credulous or superstitious.  c

An old man with a pack upon his back and a long staff in his hand walking down a hill.  Remarkable fortunes. Estranged from kindred at early age to follow an adventurous fortune.  Roaming and privation; resignation.  Remarkable powers.  Pilgrimage.  b

The moon in her first quarter.  Fond of change; a speculator. Too sanguine in expectation, but mostly fortunate.  c

The Pyramids and the Sphinx.  Certification.  s

One might say that before the v-of-c time begins, "all systems are go," since we are in the exact center of a Bright Hermetic Epoch (the sun and Mercury are conjoined), in the first few days of a new lunar cycle, and the symbols are wonderfully friendly. Then in the v-of-c period one might question things or need some Saturday rest and recuperation or recreation.

So one might be the jockey during that earlier period. He is the most straightforward of the symbols, since it is easy to understand that, no matter the complexities of his art, his simple purpose is to train and ride a horse in order to win a race. Early in the day one might emulate him, deciding what one wants to do and if it involves others, or business, or shopping, get it done before the v-of-c sets in, coming round the curve for the home stretch in early afternoon.  One might also use that period for important planning. I often say that the center of the BHE, when Mercury is with the sun while going fast forward, is a good time to see steadily and clearly where one's immediate future is going or ought to go, and make some solid plans and write them down or otherwise fix them in memory. One is likely to be "on" at this time more so than in later weeks when Mercury is slowing down and moving away from the sun.

Then we have the other fascinating symbols. This looks like a good day for a student of the occult arts or sciences, or for a student of anything unusual or "esoteric" in some regard.  I leave you to ponder them for yourself and let them suggest something interesting to you.

The evening might be unpredictable yet not unhappy, just needing a bit of alertness and spontaneity to keep one interested in what might be happening. If one chooses to be the magician, one might escape into a fantasy world, maybe one of entertainment, the arts, music, drama, film, whatever makes one feel on top of everything like the magician with his artistic ceremony.

If one chooses to be the old man on a pilgrimage, one is a bit more serious, following perhaps a lonely adventure of investigation and contemplation.

At any rate the Pyramids and the Sphinx give a more or less material or structural certification of something remarkable you have experienced or found out. Some might consider it pure imagination but it is known to you as something much better than that, though you may not want to speak of it to anyone except in veiled hints.

~Through Intensity to Gradual Gain~

Moon in Pisces

A girl blowing a bugle.  Summons.  s

A man with upraised arms submerged in the water, over which a heavy rain is falling.  Not good to attempt things beyond one's powers. One must know one's weakness in order to attempt to be independent.  Incompetence.  b

Death, with a scythe in one hand, and a bag of money in the other. A miser who would delight in carnage if it would prove of some monetary advantage to himself.  c

A man with open breast, showing enlarged heart overflowing with blood.  Sorrow. Harrowing trials. Heartbroken.  c

A widow's past brought to light. Rectification.  s

Two crossed swords surrounded by a wreath of laurels.  Remarkable powers of attack and defense.  Pointed speech, incisive manner, penetrating mind. Honors, even if not wealthy.  b

The moon in her first quarter.  Fond of change; a speculator. Too sanguine in expectation, but mostly fortunate.  c

These symbols are meant to be reversed, in many cases. That is, the negative ones are warnings but not indications of something fatal or inevitable. By making an adjustment in one's mind and attitude, prompted by the negative symbol, one can reverse its implication and make it be something positive in one's daily life. (I felt like putting that in italics because it is so important.)

We have a lot of the negative ones today. These correlate with three increasing squares from planets in Pisces to Mars in Sagittarius.  The formula for the closest, Mars square Neptune, is "An indomitable approach to obligation" according to Marc Edmund Jones. This suggests that the way to avoid the negativity is to heed the girl blowing the bugle. She is summoning you to catch up with duties, even on a Friday, as if that would prepare you for the weekend. "Knowing one's weakness" means avoiding things questionable which might be actually dangerous or else just waste your time and prevent you from doing something really important.

The "Death" symbol, and the widow at the open grave, obviously correlate to the high-school massacre in Florida, though they were both present in the daily forecast on Thursday and Friday, not on Wednesday when the incident actually occurred. I do not know why, except that perhaps the impact of it and the suffering it caused may be even more intense on these latter two days. May G*d bless all who have been involved in the tragedy.  I mentioned in the forecast for the day it happened, Valentine's Day, that Venus has just begun to square Mars (until about March 8). This can be a disharmonious sex life, tactlessness, erring eroticism, and MeToo incidents, but it can also be, at worst, anger leading to violence, as it did in the killer.

Obviously the "harrowing trials" and the "heartbroken" indication apply to the families and friends of those students.  The "widow's past brought to light" suggests that it is possible to rectify the impact of the tragedy through spiritual consciousness. I hope that the friends and families of the victims know something of the after-death state and of reincarnation, of immortal life, to help them through the ordeal. I shall recommend again a new book by Leslie Kean, Surviving Death, which gives plentiful and convincing cases of verified reincarnation and of Near-Death and After-Death experiences.

Whether the indication of Death with a money-bag shows problems involving corporations exploiting workers and consumers (as of course some of them do) I leave to you and your experience. It might be possible to overcome something like that either through protest or through alternative strategies bypassing the exploiters. There are "remarkable powers of attack and defense" and honors even for those who are not wealthy.

The final symbol is appropriate because this is in fact the first full day of a new lunar month and Luna is in her first quarter. "Too sanguine" repeats the warning to avoid something really beyond one's current powers (listen to the girl's bugle-summons!), and yet there is the promise of basic good fortune.

So may it be.

}Toward Illumination{

Moon in Aquarius--Pisces
/moon goes void-of-course at 1:06p PT | 4:06p ET | 9:06p UT
New Moon of Aquarius occurs at that exact v-of-c moment.
Also the Chinese Year of the Dog begins then (goodbye, Old Rooster, see you in 2029)

Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and the Chinese New Year all happen within two days of one another. Interesting time. You may be feeling a surge of clarity and hope.

Donald Trump is a Dog. This is supposed to be a good year for him. I shall not comment.

Today's symbols:

Death, with a scythe in one hand, and a bag of money in the other. A miser who would delight in carnage if it would prove of some monetary advantage to himself.  c

A widow's past brought to light. Rectification.  s

A cup, a pack of playing cards, and dice.  Dissipated or irregular life. Weakness for wine and gambling.  Addicted to pursuit of fortune by adventitious means.  Spoliation.  b

A neat little thatched cottage in an Alpine valley.  A true child of Nature who will never conform to the ways of Society.  c

A cross lying on rocks.  Conscience.  s

A niche in which are set a lamp and a book or missal.  Secrets of nature revealed through long and patient study.  Devotion and intelligence, pursuing studies where others would have abandoned them.  Religion, philosophy, fine arts.  Illumination.  b

A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.  Transition.  s

Perhaps it would be good to just read through these symbols two or three times and let thoughts and perceptions come to you.  They speak in ways one would not expect. For example, a few days ago I was with a friend at a restaurant. He picked up the artificial battery-powered candle on the table and turned it on; then set it off to his left. Later on the way home he found another candle lying in a park and picked it up. Later that night before sleep the lamp at the left of the head of my bed went off. I got a new bulb for it and put it on. Now one of the symbols for the day was "The lamp of physical enlightenment at the left temple."  The friend placed the artificial candle to his left. The lamp on my bedstand was to my left. Sometimes the symbols can be amazingly literal. Other times they seem entirely metaphoric but if one lets them percolate in free association they speak volumes. My particular pre-day take on the above:  (Well, before I write that, something came to me when I just re-read the above symbols which was very personal and which I would not write about here, something way back in my past. It was wonderful, commenting upon and expanding my comprehension of matters connected with people very important to me.)

Pluto was in the degree we have first today, the miser with death's scythe, on 9/11/2001. Conspiracy theorists will say that the vicious miser was our own government or someone in it. Most would say that he was Osama bin Laden or the terrorists themselves. Today this is much lighter, in the light of the other symbols (which were by contrast horrible on 9/11). I will just let it speak to you however it may.

The widow reviewing her past goes along with the above. She knows there are things she could have rectified, perhaps, in her marriage, but still feels that she can do so at a spiritual level.

The drinking gamblers are to me a pleasant symbol, suggesting freedom to try anything and feel exhilarated in the process. The keyword "Spoliation" points out that there have to be limits (too often recognized too late). The miser probably would not be a gambler, or maybe he would. These seem to be two extreme attitudes toward ways of gaining wealth.

The child of Nature with his cottage in a valley could be any of us wanting to escape from the extremes just pointed out. How lovely and peaceful is the simple life!

Yet there is conscience, and religious memories and symbols, Jesus hovering in the background even though one may have tossed the cross on rocks or forgotten about Him.

So one turns to the niche, and study of either scriptures or other profound teachings, or deep sciences or arts. Long and patient study can lead to illumination.

Then one might even become the bunny metamorphosed into a fairy, or an ordinary human being becoming somewhat angelic, liberated from the most-gross desires and attachments of usual living into a heaven of spiritual understanding where all seems light and easy.

}Saint Valentine's Accord{

Moon in Aquarius

Three men advancing arm in arm.  Friendship and delights of social intercourse.  Profusion of effort but animated by best feelings.  Many supporters.  Popular instructor. Fondness for pleasure may be problem.  Accord.  b

A Standard-bearer. Leader or public character, perhaps a reformer.  c

A flag that turns into an eagle that crows.  Adjustment.  s

An apple tree whose boughs are bending with ripe fruit.  Fixed habits, fond of home; a benevolent husband, wife, or parent; good citizen.  c

A church bazaar.  Benefit.  s

A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.  Transition.  s

A stately mansion surrounded by trees in an expanse of pastureland.  Fond of home. Uninterrupted joys of continuous home life. Pleasant, frank, humane, entertains friends.  Possession.  b

This is quite a lovely setup for Valentine's Day.  There is accord, prosperity, a pleasant or even luxurious setting, and friendly social intercourse. Let us hope this optimistic symbolic prognosis will overcome the square of Venus with Mars which began yesterday and continues until about March 8. This can indicate trouble in the affections or in close relationships. More happily, it can be shakeups in those areas which do not ruin but refine one's relationships.  Because we are also in the last day of an Old Moon (the New is tomorrow afternoon), it may be good to let celebrations of the holiday be simple and spontaneous rather than overly planned and formalized.

The standard-bearer and the flag suggest a more serious trend for some concerned perhaps about politics or human rights issues, but this does not appear to upset the overall harmony. The church bazaar suggests broad sharing with those lacking anything, with a touch of fun. It reminds us that Valentine was indeed a saint as recognized by the Roman Catholic Church and some others. Also it could remind us that today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

The courtly or amicable comity and harmoniousness may transition at times into something ethereal and spiritual, the "bunny metamorphosed into a fairy." There could be light flightiness and exhilaration.

Yet the mansion, pastureland and fruitful tree give us solid support in the material world. May your day reflect this happy outlook.

Heavy traffic on a narrow isthmus.  Convergence.  s

A trilithon consisting of two strong pillars of stone with a horizontal thwart of the same material. Within the trilithon, a strong iron gate.  Security arising from prudence, intelligence and stability. A haven of refuge for the helpless.  Defense.  b

A flag that turns into an eagle that crows.  Adjustment.  s

A man walking blindfold toward the opening of a deep pit.  Thoughts and projects chaotic and confused. Needed: alertness and responsiveness to surroundings. Walk humbly in the simple ways of life rather than tread unfamiliar paths.  b

An apple tree whose boughs are bending with ripe fruit.  Fixed habits, fond of home; a benevolent husband, wife, or parent; good citizen.  c

A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.  Transition.  s

There is no symbol to this degree.  Mystery. Allied to fourth dimensional space. One has something not in common with the rest of his race.  c

We are in the final twelfth of the lunar month, when things tend to be losing momentum unless one keeps them going by an act of will. Extra rest is not inappropriate, giving one strength to do essentials.

The heavy traffic, literally or metaphorically, could confuse one to the point of "falling into a pit" or failing to respond quickly enough to prevent a problem. Therefore the advice is to avoid the utterly unfamiliar (which fits with the final period of a lunar month, likewise not good for big adventures).

Perhaps the flag turned into a crowing eagle could be some surge of arrogance which might lead into that yawning pit. Road rage, for example, is not recommended. One might meet someone one has trouble with at work in a crowded hallway.

So it is well to move toward that iron gate opening into a haven of refuge, whatever that may be in your situation.

We may be a "good citizen, good mate and parent" who is doing well, bearing much fruit, and yet there is some transcendental possibility of  being turned from a bunny, or bland predictable creature, into a fairy, or something quite other and unpredictable. The final symbol points to this "fourth dimensional" mystery.

It may be connected with the closest square in the daily chart, Mars square Neptune, which often indicates someone with a mission, whether military or spiritual. One needs to sacrifice whether for the nation or for humanity. Of course, sometimes those two may seem to conflict, if one has to oppose what one's own government is doing, as many think they have to do around the globe. One has to adjust to the flag which is a crowing eagle but at the same time do something "not in common with the rest of one's race" while avoiding pitfalls. Not easy. No wonder some of the symbols suggest "Just be a normal good citizen within that gate of refuge."

There may be no simple answer; or the answer may be to make that transition from bunny to fairy, that is, reach some state of consciousness where one can meet all obligations wisely while yet pushing beyond toward something new and ineffable.

\Survival in Interesting Realities of Reconciliation/

Moon in Capricorn
|Karmically decisive third| of this week is diminishing but doesn't end until 5:02p PT | 8:02p ET | 1:02a(Tu) UT
/moon goes void-of-course at 9:44p PT | 12:44a(Tu) ET

A petrified forest.  Survival.  s

A dark face wearing an expression of fierce anger, and across the forehead a red band of blood.  Vindictive. Frenzy or acute mania.  Malice.  b

A lion standing alone with tail erect and in the act of running towards a panther.  Noble disposition, high-minded, honorable; bold, courageous, and fearless of foes.  c

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.  Dissipation.  b

A very large field of corn; a great number of reapers, but a very few sheaves.  Aspirations high and motives good; but may labor without adequate results.  c

A boar's head upon a dish.  Conviviality.  b  A taste for high living. Fiery and petulant; but generous and hospitable, bringing about accord with enemies.

The lamp of physical enlightenment at the left temple.  Reconciliation.  s

The petrified forest suggests that we are reliving things we have already lived. It is not easy to break free from the karma one has earned, the patterns one has created, in past lives. (To be convinced that there are "past lives," read a new, excellent book by Leslie Kean entitled Surviving Death.) Yes, we are surviving, from life to life, but then there comes the question, Is that enough? We want to progress also.

We have encountered the angry, bloody face a few days ago and survived it, so the "malice" it represents is probably subconscious in someone you associate with or in yourself. But the lion (of the next symbol) is fearless of foes, partly because honorable and of a noble disposition, and therefore bold and courageous. So may we be.

Again there is the suggestion that we are not using our powers to full advantage, as the man sowing in the wind. But this may require no more than a subtle shift in strategy or aim. Then we will indeed reap what we have sown, even if the return seems less than we had hoped. Welcome to the real world. Some return is better than none.

It is enough to launch a party, apparently. The "boar's head" may seem grotesque but the symbol comes from an era when it would have been a symbol of hearty and friendly feasting. Even vegetarians could have some sort of feast or exhilarating convivial meal today which reconciles them with all around them.

The last symbol and its interpretation may seem mysterious, yet comforting. Enlightenment whether physical or spiritual brings about an understanding of the opposites which seemed in conflict, and there is internal reconciliation. This could reflect the harmony of Luna's sextile with Neptune early in the day and then with Jupiter in the evening.

A bent stalk bearing a full ear of corn.  Good faculties and abilities but with too little courage and power of attack to make merit felt.  Yet will express much and be appreciated.  Bending.  b

Cross-swords.  At variance or involved in quarrels and broils.  c

A man with arms folded, unmindful of danger; behind him an assassin with dagger.  Beset by secret enemies, apparently for no reason.  c

A squirrel hiding from hunters.  Caution.  s

A golden-haired goddess of opportunity.  Reward.  s

From past experience I would say that the "chest floating on the open sea" shows not so much total indifference as detachment in the Buddhist sense, or in the Hindu sense (vairagya), an ability to let things go if they are not spiritually important. That is a signal to the man sowing in the wind that he is wasting time and effort on something which will bear no fruit.

So then, it is better to turn to one's own "good faculties and abilities," and use or express them even if at first there seems no result. One is like a bent ear of wheat which looks like it will bear nothing but is actually going to bear a great deal, though unappreciated at first. One can "bend" humbly while getting more done than appears on the surface.

The next two symbols seem ominous, and that means we have to take them to a deeper level. Today is a |karmically intense| day so it is good to avoid quarrels which go nowhere or make things worse. We do not have to have "secret enemies" such as the assassin in the symbol if we take care of our karma as it comes up. "Karma" basically means work or duty which, if unfulfilled, brings unpleasant consequences. (The man about to be "attacked" is standing with folded arms, too confident that he has done enough, somewhat similar to the man sowing in the wind.)

The squirrel, it appears, is smarter than the man standing confidently with folded arms, because he knows things could go wrong and is hiding successfully from the hunters. It is not that we ought to be paranoid and hide under the bed but that wise discrimination will protect us from loss of time, money, or opportunity.

Then that "golden-haired goddess of opportunity" can bless us because we are not putting up any obstacle to the blessing, and we gain our reward without demanding it.

s: Sabian symbols which came through psychic Elsie Wheeler, interpreted by Marc Edmund Jones
