\Control is Satisfying/

This is the second day of the |difficult or stressful third of the week| which will lift early Friday. One might regard these as times to focus on the less desirable aspects of life which yet need attention.

There are possibilities of slander or arrogance in people, so that you get wind of someone having said something unkind about you behind your back. This is never an easy thing for any of us to face. I was thinking yesterday of someone whom I would delight in making fun of because her "mechanical" (in Ouspensky's sense) style of conversation can be so grating on my nerves. I held my tongue. Chances are she might say something equally cutting about me when I'm not around.

We may hear of "wars and rumors of war" in Jesus's words, and indeed the wars "we" (the U. S.) are fighting do not get much play in the public consciousness. Many observers have noted that we are being blithely blind and deaf to the killing. This of course gives the "mechanical" war-forces plenty of leeway to wreak their havoc. If nobody who could change things cares, they continue their senseless course.

Those who are involved in family or sex-related kinds of lawsuits may get interesting news today or deal with a lawyer or judge who seems to be wise or favorable.

When you get too morose---philosophic in a bad sense (and I say that sadly because I love and believe in good positive philosophy, of which the world has too little)---you could be inclined to give up, tossed away from your soul's course by winds of fatalism or a belief in chaotic chance.

Then you would be inclined to dissipate yourself---looking for a thrill in sensation to make up for the lack of concerted idealism manifest in wise and enjoyable action. Such a course leads to shame which cannot be completely hidden.

Despite concerns about your home, and thoughts of how to improve it as long as you do not leave it, you feel abundance around you and know you can tap into it whenever you wish.

Continuity in your endeavors is satisfying. Sticking with a schedule is not "mechanical" in Ouspensky's sense: rather the opposite, when the "mechanical" forces in your personality, body, and desire-nature would lead you away from a scheduled endeavor. Then the strict adherence to the schedule is not mechanical or robot-like but quite the reverse---you are controlling the "mechanical" forces of your desire-nature which would lead you away from what is really good for you.
